Made a Yelp account just to leave this review. I called in on 3/30/2024 about some last-minute items I needed to grab before Easter. The manager Kyle answered the phone - he did some price checks for me and was incredibly helpful. When I got into the store, Kyle remembered me from my phone call. He directed me to Matthew and Connor to help me find the items I was looking for. I could tell these guys knew what they were talking about, and I could tell they genuinely enjoyed their jobs. Found the item that I wanted on their website. Call to see if they had it in stock. They were super helpful, checked the item/price then offered to put it on hold for me. This location should be called the Not So Big 5. But despite the small size, it has become my 'good luck' place for buying athletic shoes for the boys. About every three months we walk in and get great deals on a variety of shoes. No coupons, they just seem to run a lot of promotions so name brand shoes are typically $20 - 30 off the standard retail prices. Absolutely crammed full of merchandise, but we just make a beeline for the shoes. read more

Been in here a few times. I like to look at the stuff. Most of it is out of my price range. I forgot all about a gift card I had. Upon discovery, I made a ride on down to see what I could get for my money. I was shocked at the score I made. I was able to get several fishing items I needed. My cost was less than $2.00 cool. I still stop in on occasion to look at a boat I like. So i'm sure I will be buying more gear soon. read more

We were out of town for an early morning baseball tournament, realized we had grabbed the wrong cleats for our son and were in need of new ones. Tried the local Fred Meyer since they were open but they had no cleats for sale. Headed to Big 5 but they did not open for another 30 minutes. One of the employees was walking in for her shift. Told her our situation she said "let me see what we can do, what size and brand are you looking for?" Five minutes later we were in and out! Don't go here if your looking for good customer service! Was looking to return a pair of shoes I had just bought and got the most unfriendly manager. I don't know if he was having a off day or that's just his personality but it was the most unpleasant experience I ever had. It's like a closet that's packed too tightly. Full of inexpensive yet fun sports related crap ready to spew out the door. I can find almost everything the family might need for the "Sport of Month" at a good price. You'll find name brands, but don't expect high end. if i could give i could give zero stars i would. today on 3/5/2021 my 83 latino grandfather who is an american citizen (its literally a right to own a gun) went into this location to purchase ammunition for two small hand guns. my grandfather went to big 5 sporting goods a whole 2!!! hours before opening to make sure he would be able to make a purchase! when the store was being opened this morning the white bulky male told my grandfather they did not have anything in stock. he denied him entry into the store.. but he continued to allow other people into the store. later that day my father and i both made calls to ask if they had what we were looking for ( he checked both times ) and said sorry sold out this morning!! okay okay okay okay if you had some this morning why was my grandfather not allowed to make his purchase?? is it because he doesnt speak english well??? is it because his skin is brown??? is it because he spanish is his first language??????? no its because he was racially profiled by a white male who decided to take away his american right!!! my grandfather is a united states citizen my grandfather is a united states citizen my grandfather is a united states citizen my grandfather is a united states citizen my grandfather is a united states citizen this crew cannot deny this accusation my father and i both called the same day and we were both told told the same thing by the same white male usually i am with my grandfather because of people like this man who denied my grandfather his american right as an american citizen his purchase! but i couldnt be there this morning on 3/5/2021 and im not stoping here corporate will be hearing this as well this man cannot be allowed to do this to any other person of color is this what big 5 sporting goods teaching their employees??? please respond read more

I love Big 5 sporting goods. It's so great to have a place like this to buy pretty much anything for camping or sports you may need. Always a full smiling staff of professional young people eager to help you with any questions too! Places like Big 5 are becoming harder to find as the internet takes over the retail landscape. I purchased a ping pong table from this location. When I got it home I found one of the halves cracked. I followed the manufacturers advise to contact the store to arrange an exchange since it was a larger item. The store told me absolutely not. I'm now stuck with something that I paid for and cannot use. Thanks Big 5 in Milwaukie, Oregon for your extremely poor customer service. A group of us were going to float down the river, and needed to find some floating equipment STAT! I was a little apprehensive at first going into Big 5, because I was afraid everything was going to be super expensive and they wouldn't have a good selection.. well I was wrong! We were able to get floaties, water shoes, and a beach towel- all super cheap might I add! Also, the gal at the register (Jessica) was amazing!! Super friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back when we need more outdoor gear :) read more
