My boyfriend and I initially had planned to check out Moo's bbq, but after waiting in line for a while and hearing that they had run out of a lot of meats before 3 pm on a Saturday, we decided to check out Big Ants BBQ instead, which was the best decision we made that day! Off the bat, Big Ants BBQ was the better choice and it's such an underrated gem! Way more people should come here instead of Moo's. The owners are super friendly, great potion sizes, no wait, and plenty of seating inside, and plenty of parking around. My boyfriend and I got into the brisket, the baby back ribs, two sausage links, a cornbread, the large Mac and cheese and a small coleslaw. Everything was seasoned to perfection and delicious! This is hands down the beat bbq I've had in LA. The baby back ribs were falling off the bones and super juicy, the brisket was also super tender and juicy. The links were really delicious and a had a great smokiness to them. We also loved how fresh and light the coleslaw was and helped break down the richness of the creamy Mac and cheese and the meats. The cornbread was a really good. The bbq sauces, one sweet and one spicy were also really nice. The owner also gave us free water bottles which was very kind of him. The inside was clean and spacious, and air conditioned which was great on a hot day. I also really liked the Mario bros Nintendo theme to their bathroom. Parking is a little tough here due to the limited size so you might have to park on the street. As of this review they no longer have their outdoor seating. I got the rib sandwich and it came out to about $20. They gave a generous portion of ribs deboned. It might have been slightly less than a half rack. It also comes with fries, slaw, and a pickle. The meat was super tender and the sauce was a good balance of tangy and sweet. I ordered take away of the baby back ribs plate, which included two sides. I got the Mac salad and greens. The Mac salad was good, but a little salty and acidic. I guess I'm used to Hawaiian-style, which is sweeter. The greens were good and filling and had chunks of meat (maybe turkey?). There was parking onsite. Yesterday I was in the mood for BBQ, so I ordered from one of the best local BBQ spots near me. While most of their food is great, the loaded fries didn't quite hit the mark compared to other items on the menu. One disappointing thing is that they don't offer a 2 or 3 meat combo. Everything has to be ordered individually, which gets expensive and feels limiting. Seasoned rice, whole pinto beans, crema, cilantro, onions, and smoked brisket wrapped in a flour tortilla. The first time having this burrito, i teared up because of how good it was. This was by far a great eating experience. I tried a little bit of everything. I must say I'm extremely impressed with their food. You must try everything to see for yourself. A little chewy, but still pretty good. - Baby Back Ribs 1/2 slab - 8.5/10: really, really good. Comes apart quite easily, very well crafted with a good rub.
