    Rib sandwich
    David W.

TL:DR - tasty bbq, tough parking situation Located in between two busy streets in a sliver of land, Burbank Ants BBQ specializes in American BBQ. They have all the fixins that you would want. Parking is a little tough here due to the limited size so you might have to park on the street. As of this review they no longer have their outdoor seating. I got the rib sandwich and it came out to about $20. They gave a generous portion of ribs deboned. It might have been slightly less than a half rack. It also comes with fries, slaw, and a pickle. The meat was super tender and the sauce was a good balance of tangy and sweet. I'll probably come back at another point to try the ribs on the bone and maybe their brisket since they did a good job on the sando.

Not necessarily the most welcoming looking spot from outside, but once you're in you'll be greeted with a smile. Ambiance was really basic, but we come for the BBQ. I ordered the brisket sandwich special that comes with some real crispy fries, slaw and an actual red pickle. All was pretty good but with a squirt of the delicious BBQ sauce it became great. I tried the BBQ chicken but it wasn't anything I would necessarily order again. I would definitely come back just to try the brisket burrito!

Update as of 2-18-26: they have PORK BELLY sandwich listed as a Pork Candy Sandwich" For our first visit, we ordered the brisket, chicken, and baby back plates each with two sides. (Sorry, no photos of the food because I was excited to eat. Do look at my photo of the price increase.) Brisket: 6 oz was just right for me, thick enough, and a perfect balance of fat and meat. Amazing smoky flavor. Try it. Chicken: This was really smoky and delicious and the breast was surprisingly moist. Baby backs: Again, that smoky goodness is clear with meat easily coming away from the bones. Greens: FANTASTIC and peppered Cole slaw: loved the larger shred of cabbage and it wasn't sweet Baked beans: good but too sweet for me Getting into the somewhat limited parking lot was challenging from San Fernando Rd. Please be careful! Overall, great food. I'll be coming back to try the other offerings.

OMG! I just discovered this hidden gem and I am blown away! Let's start with the ribs -- fall-off-the-bone tender, juicy, and seasoned to absolute perfection. The BBQ sauce? Completely on point. It complemented the meat without overpowering it, which is exactly what you want. The sides were no joke either. The mac and cheese was rich and satisfying, and the coleslaw was fresh and refreshing -- a perfect palate cleanser between bites. On top of the amazing food, the service was on point -- warm, friendly, and efficient. The vibe inside is laid-back and chill, perfect for kicking back and enjoying your meal without any rush. Just good food, good service, and good energy I had no idea this place even existed until today, and now I'm kicking myself. Will be coming by whenever I am in the area! If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and get here ASAP!

    1/2 lb smoked brisket. Delicious!!!!!!!!!!

Big Ants BBQ in Glassell Park has really good brisket!! My very favorite item here is the brisket burrito. Seasoned rice, whole pinto beans, crema, cilantro, onions, and smoked brisket wrapped in a flour tortilla. The first time having this burrito, i teared up because of how good it was. Also ordered a side of the 1/2 lb brisket. So smokey, tender, and delicious!! Parking is very limited. I've been lucky everytime I go here there's one or two vacant spots. Service is friendly and the place is always clean. Highly recommend if you're craving brisket... but you must try the brisket burrito... it's sooooo good!!!!!

Loved this place, I have driven by so many times ... a hidden gem! I had the brisket sandwich with the fries! Super delicious ! Like the new generation says " it's fire" the brisket will not disappoint you ! The kool aid pickle is a must ... well I think that was kool aid! I ended in the best food coma! Service was outstanding and the ambiance was chill ! Don't pass this place up! You must try!

We ordered two combo plates at $35 each -- well worth every penny. We upgraded to the lean brisket for an extra $2 and added pork ribs for $3 more per plate, and the result was a tray piled high with some of the best BBQ in the city. Sides included mac and cheese, baked beans, and coleslaw, with both regular and spicy BBQ sauce on the side and sweet tea to wash it all down. The lean brisket was an absolute standout -- tender, juicy, and bursting with deep smoky flavor. The pork ribs were equally impressive, smoky and fall-off-the-bone tender with a gorgeous bark on the outside. The mac and cheese was honestly some of the best I've ever had -- rich, creamy, and comfort food at its absolute peak. The baked beans were packed with flavor and loaded with chunks of pork that made them feel like a meal on their own. The coleslaw was a perfect palate cleanser -- delicate, fresh, and not overly sweet, exactly how it should be done. The one minor letdown was the hot link sausage -- it was juicy but lacked the bold flavor you'd expect, and the skin was a bit tougher than it should have been. A small miss in an otherwise outstanding meal, and not enough to take anything away from the overall experience. The atmosphere was electric -- lively and loud in the best way, packed with energy and wall-to-wall televisions. We happened to go during the FIFA World Cup Final and the place was absolutely hopping. Our waiter was extraordinarily attentive and friendly, and the food came out quickly and piping hot despite how busy it was. Bludso's is the real deal. If you're serious about BBQ in LA, this is your spot. Get the brisket, get the ribs, and don't skip the mac and cheese.

Back in the day, you had to get there early because the place STAYED PACKED, and their ribs were THEE reason to go. They were hands down some of the best ribs I ever had as a kid. They put me on. Fast forward 15-20 years later, and today was my first time coming back since my teenage years. I tried calling ahead to place an order, but couldn't get through. Honestly, that didn't surprise me because Woody's was always busy. I figured it was still the same old Woody's. Then I pulled into the parking lot around 6 PM on a Thursday. Immediately, there was parking available. That alone felt odd. No line. Plenty of parking. Not a single customer inside. That should have been my first sign. We ordered beef ribs, sliced brisket, mac and cheese, and dessert. They were out of the banana pudding, so we settled for peach cobbler. The total was around $50, which isn't bad for dinner for two. The excitement really started to hit when we got home and opened everything up. Unfortunately, that's when reality set in. The mac and cheese was terrible. Completely flavorless, watery, and mushy. The pasta was so overcooked it practically fell apart and blended together like baby food. It tasted old and had absolutely no seasoning or richness whatsoever. First and last time ordering that. Next was the brisket. The slices were gray, dry, and looked like they'd been sitting around for a while. I took one bite and immediately said, "Absolutely not." Another disappointment. But I wasn't too worried yet because I came for one thing: THE RIBS. The flavor was actually still there. The sauce and seasoning reminded me of the Woody's I remembered. BUT THE TEXTURE... A completely different story. The ribs weren't tender, weren't juicy, and definitely weren't falling off the bone. They were tough enough that I found myself working for every bite. At that point, the empty parking lot, empty dining room, and lack of lines made a lot more sense. By the end of the meal, I ended up rinsing the remaining ribs off so my dog could enjoy them as a chew toy. What hurts most isn't the bad meal--it's seeing what was once a legendary BBQ spot become a shadow of what it used to be. I almost wish I hadn't come back because it tarnished some really great childhood memories for me. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I also believe in being honest. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but based on this experience, Woody's is not the Woody's I remember, and unfortunately, I won't be returning. If it's any consolation, the cobbler was okay. But not worth going out of my way for.
