We stop in on the way home from a long weekend. Both my husband and I where pretty tired and still had a long drive ahead of us. It was Sunday morning so we expect anywhere we went would be pretty busy but we got a table within 5 mins of waiting and ordered right away. It took well over an hour for our food to come out. After about an hour waiting our waitress came over to refill drinks and mentioned she just checked on the food, until then we could get any one to stop by so we could even ask how much longer. If I could give this place zero stars I would. They completely forgot our order and we were sitting there for 30 minutes and no food. The waitress came up and said " I forgot to place your order are you willing to wait another 30 minutes" I said no. They had no empathy about dropping the ball and lack of service. I will never come back again.... horrible service. I asked to speak to the manager and said that Diane isn't around today and they had no control to make any decision. Reminds me of a retro diner, tchotchke shop in the front, by the ice cream counter and pie case. I'm pretty sure the flooring was black and white tile... I love places like these. Menu was huge, I actually forgot to even look at it because I immediately ordered the black board special. Prime rib (yum, with a side of creamy horseradish) home fries (so good) two eggs, and toast (cooked perfectly, and sourdough!) I did remember to try the coffee, diner coffee, it's what it is... Service was great, I feel like it was all female wait staff but that's classic too. Kids menu was very nice in this place, where usually my kids eat whatever. The entire place makes you feel like you traveled in time and visited a happy bright Diner from the 1950s. 50s culture will be on every wall you see with many showing people with big smiles on their faces, Mr Elvis made my British face smile . This is my favorite Saturday Pancake date place! The staff is always so nice and on top of things. If you like pancakes, order the Big Apple specialty plate. It gives you 1 crepe, 3 silver dollar pancakes, 1 big potato pancake (w/ sour cream and apple sauce), and 2 sausages! And they all taste so good! This 'short' review reflects the speed at which our orders were served after they were placed, how long it took us to eat as much of our meals as possible so as not to appear wasteful, the length of time we sat twiddling our thumbs after our plates were cleared before we decided to beat it, and the mad dash I made for the medicine cabinet to grab the bottle of Tums when we got home. Don't waste your money at the Big Apple Diner if you want a decent evening meal in the neighborhood. Our orders were taken quickly enough after we were seated. What floored us was how much quicker they were served--under 5 minutes. "That quick?! This concerns me," said the partner. After just one bite, he swore his chili burger tasted like it came out of a can of Hormel's. I also understood why our waitress did not ask how I wanted my burger cooked when I requested the Swiss Burger--it showed up completely well-done. Bleeeeayeuch!. I was so amped to go out to breakfast that my mouth was watering from five miles away. Then of course, I was overwhelmed by the decor and crowd at this joint, and it wound up taking me nearly a half hour to decide what to eat. I wanted to order about seven meals, a malt, and a milkshake, but I was reasonable. I wound up ordering a breakfast...maybe called the German breakfast (?)...which was perfect because it had a bit of many things: potato pancakes (German style with ham in them...totally not kosher), apple-chicken sausage, crepes, and I think there were two silver dollar pancakes thrown in for good measure and another reason to eat syrup and butter. I also got some fresh squeezed o.j., because I am a freak for it, and a good cuppa joe. Everything was "nummerslicious," as my man says, and our server was really sweet and patient with my indecision too. My man ordered a burger and fries. The burger was ginourmous, but also juicy and well topped and fries were good. The prices were all totally reasonable and average. This place is off the hook! I have always been there for breakfast/brunch, but I am not sure there is really another time to go (I am sure they have good lunch/dinner too, but Bfast is SO good). This is a true diner experience complete with bar seating if the wait gets too long on a Saturday morning. The waitresses/waiters have the NYC type charm and charisma a good diner person should. The seating is all booth and metal rim tables. Extensive omlet menu that is AMAZING. I am usually the type that finds something somewhere and keeps with it every time because it is a safe bet. All the omlets here are a safe bet. The OJ is fresh squeezed and tastes very true to eating an actual orange. Classic Bfast items do not miss the mark either. Passing through Bremerton in the morning my wife and I craved a diner for a good breakfast. After a quick "Google Search" we decided to give this place a try since it was not far off the highway. It was roadside and had parking available. The entry was full of people (good sign) and the wait was minimal, quick turnover. The service was a bit slow, but the waitress was very friendly and helpful. We placed our order and had coffee in the meantime. NOT the greatest grinds, but we need our morning coffee. The water was very obviously out of the tap and had the well-water taste of dirt. We both had omelets and my son had the waffle. Great presentations and a perfect portion to fill the plate. Eggs were fluffy and good taste. My son's waffle was large and had sweet batter that he enjoyed. My hash browns were not greasy and had good flavor. The ham and onions in my omelet were good also. Prices were reasonable and overall a good experience. With better quality coffee and finding a way to eliminate the dirt taste in the water, it would have been a 5-Star experience. read more

I always love taking people to this fun kiche little resteraunt off the beaten path. Ive been coming to this eatery for roughly 20 years and it never seems to dissappoint and never gets old. As i normally eat breakfast when i go, i have had dinner as well and its just as good as breakfast with large servings and fair prices. Coming from the east coast where there is a diner on every corner, I as overwhelmed with happiness when I learned from a friend that there actually was on here in kitsap county. Although I was skeptical that anyone could come close to a Baltimore Diner, I must say that Big Apple went far above and beyond my expectations. I was so happy to walk in and be kindly seated in a little booth that I think I almost go teary eyed. Our waitress, Sherry, was friendly, inviting, helpful... amazing! Forget Ruth's Chris and the Four Seasons- I'll take a good ol' diner any time! Michael (the husband) got the German pancakes, which I had some of and they were delicious! Never had anything like it. I, of course, got a waffle, and an omelet which were both made to perfection. The great thing about this place is that, yes, it's a diner, but it's actually so SO much more! They have cool things on the menu that I haven't seen before, like french toast that is stuffed with eggs, bacon, or sausage.... and they make their own corned beef- No crap from a can stuff-which I'm gonna try next time. Before we moved to Bremerton, we asked about places to eat. The diner was one of the top recommended and it ended up being half a mile from our house. It was one of the first places I tried and was so happy to see cinnamon french toast on the menu. That is how I've always made french toast and it is great. I got my daughter the teddy bear pancake and she loves it. We try to go atleast once every 2 weeks and the waitresses know us pretty well. I was actually suprised when I heard some friends mention the diner not being child friendly because they have been nothing but child friendly to my toddler. read more

This is one of my family's favorite Bremerton restaurants! They have the best shakes around, and can make just about any flavor you want (mint Oreo, strawberry with brownie chunks, chocolate peanut butter banana). They have a very diverse menu at very reasonable prices. Breakfast is served all day. Try a caramel Coke or the toasted almond coconut waffle. Just be aware, although we've never had bad service, sometimes it's absolutely stellar and sometimes it's just eh. But even picky eaters will find something to enjoy here! I had dinner at the Big Apple last night with my family. It was only my second time eating there, but the service was SO BAD that I HAD to update my review and drop it by one star. Everything was slow. Agonizingly slow. The place was busy, but not full. We ordered a milk for my son. First she brought root beer. No, we asked for milk. Five minutes later, she returned with CHOCOLATE milk (which my son doesn't like). No, we asked for MILK. Five minutes later she returned this time with milk. Another thing that bothered me is how quickly the charges add up there. The milk for one son and apple juice for another son came in extremely small cups (I'd guess 5 oz) and they do not give free refills. The food was still delicious. My eldest son raved about how good his cheeseburger was. My youngest son devoured his pancake. I thought the feta cheese & spinach scramble was delicious. We all enjoyed our food, and I am SURE we will be going back to the Big Apple Diner again, but the service was bad enough to warrant an adjustment to my rating for the restaurant. read more
