My best friend and I took a weekend trip to PCB and wanted something really good for brunch on Saturday morning. I looked up nearby restaurants and saw Big Bad Breakfast was pretty close, so we knew that was definitely the move! I haven't had Big Bad since I lived in Birmingham 4-5 years ago, so I was super excited to be having it again. We knew the restaurant was probably crowded so we waitlisted on Yelp, and once we arrived, we let the hostess know and waited about 10-15 minutes before we were seated. The hostess sat us on the patio which was very nice and spacious, and also socially distanced. The patio overlooked this beautiful pool of the surrounding apartments/condo. Our server came and brought water and we also ordered mimosas. For brunch, I had the chicken and waffles with sides of bacon and crispy hash cake and my bestie had the Riviera skillet with a pancake. Our food was absolutely delicious! The spicy bacon is probably my fave, but the chicken and waffle was definitely some competition. The only subpar thing was the hash cake because it was a bit rubbery, but overall everything was great. No matter the location, Big Bad just doesn't miss! read more

With a name like Big Bad Breakfast, you'd better bring it...and they did! Love the name, and loved the food. Under the reign of a James Beard award winning chef, John Currence, this restaurant has brought their A game to the table for breakfast and beyond. In the recent avocado craze, I've seen plenty of postings of foods with avocado added. I liked the idea of avocado on toast, but never tried it, until today. The toast wasn't too thick, like Texas toast, but it was a toasted sturdy wheatberry bread smothered in avocado, pico de gallo, arugula, and two poached eggs. I was debating adding the jumbo crab but glad I didn't, because it was quite a filling meal. You have to not be finicky about consistency because it can be a little mushy in your mouth, due to the runny egg with the avocado, but the flavors were great together. I really enjoyed the peppery taste of the arugula that complimented the toast nicely. The kids got the pancake and bacon. To my delight, my daughter could not finish her pancakes so I got to eat at least a fourth of them. This pancake tasted delicious. I just really like the flavor of it and it didn't even require that much syrup to be tasty. Definitely one of the better pancakes I've had. I also got to capitalize on my honey getting full so I was able to snag some waffle, too. Thick and fluffy and delicious. This waffle definitely stood out of all the brunch places I've been to. And please let me not forget the homemade Bloody Mary. This was hands down the best Bloody I've ever had. It was peppery, a little kick, definitely great tomato taste but so much more than some vodka and tomato juice. It came with little pickled beans in it that really topped it off. I would love to get their recipe, but somehow bet they are keeping it under wraps. I'll have to just keep coming back to get my fix. This restaurant I didn't realize until later is a chain that spans from Mississippi to Alabama to here. Please come to Atlanta next! read more

The food was good and worth a try if you're in the area. We're staying in Panama City Beach and wanted to try something different. For us it wasn't worth the 20 minute drive, so we probably won't go back. I had the chicken and waffles. The waffle was good and most of the chicken was pretty good, but it was a little on the dry side. The syrup was delicious! I also had a side of bacon and asked for extra crispy. It was chewy, so I gave it to my husband. My husband just had pancakes and they were average, but what can you say about pancakes. They're all about the same. F$&@ing amazing. Cat head biscuit was so good. But what put it over the top were the gravy options. The sausage gravy was good, but do not skip an extra side of tomato gravy and red eye gravy. Tomato gravy was the consistency of a bisque, with a little spice. Surprisingly good. It was the red eye that was killer. Do no skip the red eye. If you skip it, God will punish you. Amazing. Finding a restaurant who'll take a reservation for 12 people for breakfast is MUCH harder than it should be, unless you find yourself in Inlet Beach! Big Bad Breakfast could not have been more accommodating to our large party. The waitress (whose name I unfortunately did not catch) was impressive AF. She took all of our orders, changes and all, didn't write a thing down, and next thing I knew was hustling back over with 12 perfectly correct (and perfectly prepared!) main courses, plus apps. I mean - I can't even remember what I'm doing when I get up from my desk half the time. Talk about BDE! Speaking of perfectly prepared meals, I ordered the Keke's Breakfast Wrap - YUM! It really hit the spot and the portion was big enough that I took half home for later. I chose this place because of the name. I was under the impression I was going to get a decent size breakfast. I ordered the " big bad breakfast " skillet and it was $14.50. It came with choice of toast, potato cakes or pancake and I opted for the pancake. When I had this tiny little 5 inch round and 1 inch high miniature cast iron skillet placed in front of me , my husband and me looked at each other in shock. I can't believe they charged $ 14.50 for that small amount of food. Thank god I got a pancake to give me a full feeling. I understand that some food prices are up but to charge that much for 3 eggs and a few sprinkle of meat is ridiculous. We were visiting the area (like most people are), and went to check this place out because we liked the one in Birmingham, AL. I got the waffle and my wife got the chicken biscuit. They were both great! The waffle was so good, that we went back the next morning. That time, my wife got the waffle and I got the French toast. It was all fantastic. The staff on both visits were very friendly and accommodating. The world needs more Birmingham restaurants! Just be warned that they are very dog friendly, if that's not your thing. We sat on the patio both times, so I'm not sure if they are allowed inside. We are dog people, but personally I don't like them around when I'm eating. The second morning we asked to move away from the dogs, and the staff moved us to a table farther away with no issues. Definitely check this place out if you are nearby. Thank you BBB! read more

Wait to get in and sat at a table inside was pretty long and it really wasn't busy. Temperature in the restaurant was warm and nasty feeling. AC needs maintenance apparently. Tables went un bussed for 20-30 minutes. We watched the few servers they had trying to do what they could but they didn't seem to be humping it to get us sat down and the greeters made sure they only greeted the guests. Nowhere did I see managers or anyone else help the waitstaff. I'm assuming they were understaffed. Food came out quick and it was pretty good. I do recommend the breakfast there. Our server instructed us that the restaurant does not own a freezer, can opener nor a microwave..."that everything is fresh, fresh, fresh". That was good news to hear, so we went about the business of ordering. After studying the menu, I settled on avocado toast (without the lump crab meat) and 2 over medium eggs. Said server didn't bat an eye nor complicate the process since I changed the original way the dish was presented (which was also a nice change of pace). Hot teas, coffees and a traditional breakfast platter was added as well for the table. Our food came in no time at all and was abundant and delicious. My avocado toast was overloaded with arugula, so if you are a fan, you'll be happy. (Checkout the avocado toast down the street in Rosemary Beach at The Daughter's Kitchen - another version and also tasty). BBB, I have a bone to pick. I have been here a few times, but unfortunately I live 10 hours away. I want to know what is in the water that makes this place so addictive. The food is ALWAYS amazing. Stunning. Absolutely my favorite breakfast place and I have traveled across the country. Literally from Alaska to Massachusetts, and this is the only breakfast place that I would happily call my number one. I was visiting Enterpise AL recently, and chose to drive the extra 2 hours just to get breakfast from this place again. The mimosas are amazing and I hate mimosas. The biscuits are so warm, moist, and the chicken? It might as well be a church because I'm certain Jesus is back there making that chicken. I always eat outside and the vibe is so nice. It's like you're on vacation. They have fans outside too so you can sit out there when it's hot. Speaking of hot, I could drink their hot sauce. Their house made hot sauce is my favorite hot sauce I've ever had. The service has been amazing as well.
