Here in good old Stafford, I happen to try this place out while nearby on a work trip. In an unassuming strip mall sits this gem of a bbq place. Plenty of parking, the staff was having a full on conversation with a few customers who I'm sure were regulars...this is the place. Service was quick and friendly, I picked up smoked ribs with beans and coleslaw. The ribs were pretty damn great. Didn't even need sauce. I used some of the original sauce and although it added to the taste I ate my lunch without it. The beans and coleslaw were added benefits as if I was at a party or relatives were cooking something out back. Definitely coming back when I'm back in the area. I suggest if your looking for an adventure and in the DMV area, stop by.

The fried cabbage and Mac and cheese was the best. The Catfish was also good but everything else was dry! The green beans were ok but had too much juice in them. The collard greens were just ok, they didn't have that kick they needed.

When it comes to BBQ I really seem to find a place that has good meat and taste. Most times it's overdone. This place is not. The service is kind but urgency is not there. So don't go there in short order. But don't let that keep you from ordering. The place is not meant to seat a lot of folks. You can but take it to go. Ordered the meat platter. All the meats were smoked and flavorful. I didn't even use the sauce. Wife ordered the pulled pork Mac and cheese. We couldn't finish it as we were pleased and full.

Flavor town! The food tasted good and was very comforting. Oxtail special was the best and the side dishes did not disappoint. Price to portion was reasonable. I look forward to coming back.

A great place to find yourself if you are stuck in 95 N. traffic. Everything that I ordered was solid from the brisket to the collard greens. Support small and locally owned businesses!

Really, there's a lot of 5 Star Reviews. Is it really that good? 1 Star = It's Not Good 2 Stars = Something's Missing 3 Stars = It's Ok 4 Stars = It's Good 5 Stars = it's Bangin! I'm so bad. I went in looking for reasons to complain. 4 tables with tables cloths, nothing to write home about, and music I want to ask them to cut off . The menu is OLD. Like, vintage old. I recommend looking at the menu online and knowing what you want before going in. It took me a minute to find what was what on the menu and piece together what I wanted. By this time, I'd did an awesome job of making myself not like this place. Rib meal, Collard Greens, and...is the Mac baked? Yeah it's baked. Ok, and some baked Mac. Roll or corn bread. Corn Bread! I have greens. I was going to eat in my car but I had a Massage in 20 minutes so I decided to eat there and throw away what I didn't finish. Bam! He handed me my tray.....it was lil heavy umkay. Ribs......Bangin! Tender but got bite and "Smoke Pit Taste Certified." I can't go back to Mission BBQ or Famous Dave's....after some "Big Bad."Like, Pit BBQ just messed up my Go to's. Baked Mac.....Bangin! Do you cater? Greens......Good. They were a lil less flavorful than I'm used too, but it had some pork or turkey in there, and it was 12noon, so I don't know if like, they were simmering in a fresh pot. They sure were hot and fresh! Corn Bread Muffin.......I want a fresh one. That's all I'll say. It was good, but It was in a zip lock bag with a cup cake paper cup I had to take off. I think he had some in the back baking... I'm not sure but "you got me next time me...right? However, the Greens and Cornbread together were Bangin! The moment I started eating, the music I wanted to be turned off was now the sound track to "The Critic goes to Big Bad." I couldn't finish it but I'd be.....smh....if I threw away the rest. I finished it after my Massage and I will definitely be back for a brisket bowl and a family meal. Big Bad w/ Pit BBQ....yeah it's that good. They are not playing. Bangin! I am Critic

I judge every spot against what I'm putting out at home... and a lot of places fall short -- whether it's weak seasoning, lack of smoke, or just flat-out underwhelming flavor. But Wild Waylon's BBQ? Yeah... this place is LEGIT. We went all in: pulled pork, brisket, and the big dino beef ribs -- plus mac and cheese, green beans, a bacon-wrapped jalapeño popper, and the jalapeño cornbread. Every single thing delivered. The brisket had great flavor and was cooked right, the pulled pork was juicy and well-seasoned, and those beef ribs... absolute showstopper. Big, meaty, packed with flavor, and done exactly how you'd want them. Sides were just as solid. The mac and cheese was rich and satisfying, green beans had great flavor, and that bacon-wrapped jalapeño popper + jalapeño cornbread combo? Yeah... ridiculous in the best way. And the smoke -- you can actually taste it. That alone separates them from a lot of spots. The whole experience was on point too. The big pit out front lets you know immediately they're serious about their craft, and the staff was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful the entire time. Prices are also very reasonable for the quality you're getting. This is one of the few places I've been where I walk away thinking, "yeah... they're doing it right." If you're anywhere near Fredericksburg -- or even just passing through -- this spot is absolutely worth the stop.

You see, get there too late and your options will be less. This morning before they opened, they already down to a half pound of burnt ends left for the day. They take pre-orders and you better put those in before they open or you'll be waiting until later in the day. Only a certain number of folks can be let in at a time to control seating which is available in and out. I had the short back ribs (which were so delish they fell off the bone), mac and cheese (warm cheesy goodness) and tried some of the baked beans (with brisket, jalapeños and saucy goodness). We also brought home some turkey, and their two kinds of brisket. Sweet baby Jesus. The wagyu brisket is buttery, melt in your mouth delish and the prime brisket is more traditional. Moist is the only way to go. While they have sauce, all their meats are so well seasoned you'll never want any. Make the drive and enjoy every dollar spent for the meat sweats.

We spoke to clerk who suggested the family sampler $49.99 It came with 3 meats - we chose Pork, Chicken and Brisket, hush puppies, 3 sides - we chose Mac n cheese, greens, French fries Here is where our review comes: keep in mind we are foodies and I'm from Smithfield NC Brisket- 2/10 very thin, it gets cold immediately, you can taste the smoke but need the sauce to eat it. It didn't hold favor. Bbq sauce is very watery. Not sure why. Pork- 1/10 we did not like it at all. It was different. Ground. Vinegar overpowers everything. I almost feel it could've been better but we just couldn't eat it. Chicken- 6/10 as a family we ate it. Would picture it in a taco being great. Again vinegar overpowers. Mac and Cheese- 3/10 too milky not enough cheese.... And a true sample. Maybe 2oz. For the price it wasn't worth it. Greens- 8/10 again too much vinegar but I'm a country girl we eat the greens Hush puppies 10/10 French fries 10/10 So all in all we would not stop here again. However the staff was friendly, the decor was cute and if it works for you, go for it! Honestly I'm disappointed that we didn't like it as much as we wanted to. But I promised to always be honest in my reviews. It's a pass if you are a foodie.

My southern roots have to say no to the collards. Sorry! It's nice that they have 2 slaws and a variety of pickles to choose from and the hush puppies were perfect. At around $90 for three people, it felt expensive for a very casual, counter-service setting. They have a quick order cafeteria style service with most sides and meats right there to serve from the ordering counter. They offer a variety of pre-portioned desserts, cold alcoholic beverages, and meats and sides in larger portions to go We chose to sit outside, but the noise level was a major drawback--constant truck traffic and a very loud motorcycle shop next door made it hard to relax or enjoy the meal. These are things that the exchange cannot control, so if noise is an issue for you, sit inside and you will have a different experience. Overall, decent food, but between the cost and the noise, it wasn't the experience we were hoping for.
