The front of the cabin. Its was a pretty okay place to stay. I mean if you can handle a few things wrong that shouldn't be for that price.

We stayed at 100 - Cedar Hideaway from 2/16 - 2/20/2024. There are mixed feelings about our stay I want to share in a Pro and Con format. CONS: The internet was not working when we first arrived. The Wifi and code we received from the office was different then what was written throughout the cabin so it was a pain to figure out which one to use. Didn't matter, neither of them worked. I ended up fixing it myself because they weren't going to send anyone else out until the following day or later. The reply was "When the service tech is available." The service tech came 3 days later. It was our last day before we left in the morning. The kitchen light flickered continuously throughout our stay. It was pretty annoying by the end of the first night. The hot tub provided was said to be ready to go when we got there but the first night it was lukewarm at best which wasn't fun after a day on the slopes. The fire place had a gas line to provide continuous flame while the wood caught fire, however there was no wrench to turn the gas on so the wood died continuously while trying to "catch" on. There were 7 of us staying at this cabin and 3 trash bags were waiting for us to use that were located under the sink. I went back to the office to get another 4 bags after the second day. There was a dishwasher in the cabin which was a nice luxury but I had to use it the first day as a drying rack because there was no dishwasher soap provided. I grabbed some when I went for the trash bags. PROS: The space was more than enough for 7 people. The beds were comfortable and the cabin was centrally heated. There were three entrances which was highly convenient. The kitchen had plenty of dinner wear, glass wear, and silver wear. You could cook, crockpot, baked, etc with all they supplied. I called the office prior to coming out and asked if they had condiments or seasonings for the cabin and they said there were none. However there were two cabinets that had those items from previous guests which was kinda nice, except for the expired items. Merideth lodging was super easy to talk with as they were a 24/7 operation but they couldn't do much other than let me know they would put a work order in for the items I needed fixed. Their IT guy came out the next day about the internet but like I said before, I took care of it anyway so not needed. The cabin is conveniently located 1.4 mile away from Big Bear Mountain and 1.0 miles away from Ski Summit. I hope this gives you an understanding of our stay. I can't say I wouldn't stay with Merideth Lodging again but I can say I do understand the 2.5 Star rating. Good luck.

Have you ever swiped right then, when you met in person you instantly regretted it? This instantly describes this property and agency. This business is unclaimed for a reason. They are incapable of keeping up with the negative reviews and the disgusting, revolting, unsafe hazardous rentals they are pitching. This review is regarding one in particular at 247 N EUREKA DR , BIG BEAR LAKE - See attachments. This includes - visible mold growth on the walls, hazardous electrical wiring, ceilings and window coverings of multiple restrooms and bedrooms, non-working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, film falling and peeling from the ceiling, cracked/water damaged walls, discoloration around vents, broken vents being supported by sticks/poles, visibly damaged sealant and water damage above and below the deck, unwashed linens, stained carpets and pests including a nest of bats and countless insects. We decided to vacate the premises. This home will not pass any safety, or cleanliness requirement laws passed by the state of CA. This is a Slum, Ran by a Slum Lord (Big Bear Getaway) looking to capitalize on unsuspecting guests of what looks like a nice property. They are deceiving at best with no regard to the health and safety of their customers. They want to ring the cash register... This property has been reported to the city of Big Bear and hopefully they will remedy the flat out ignored issues with this home.

Upon checking in this is how the popcorn machine was found.

The negative reviews are consistent for a reason. Our families experience with this vacation rental as well as trying to work with Big Bear Getaways was absolutely the worse travel experience to date. Upon arriving at the property there were a number of noticeable issues, dirty dishes still in the dishwasher, kitchen cabinets that were very disorganized and under stocked. Our main issue came a day after checking in. One of our family members occasionally gets seasonal allergies but after being in this home for 24 hours the allergies from the dust and dirty home were unbearable forcing us to leave a day early. We had attempted to call the office numerous times leaving messages with Meredith Lodging, with no return phone call. It has now been 3 months trying to recoup the money from the one night we had to leave early and this company will not take responsibility for the condition this home was rented. Despite pictures of the dust, dirt and general uncleanliness they continue to use the excuse of "contractual agreements" and that this house was a pet friendly home. The most they agreed to do was return our cleaning fee acknowledging that the house was not clean, however the "check was in the mail" 3 weeks ago and has still not been received. Save yourself the hassle and frustration, DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. In other responses to negative reviews they note that they need a reservation number to address the issues, so here is my reservation number to see if I will get any type of response, RES#8096888

This may not deter the next person/family from renting but this is a honest review. We have been renting the fox manor 11 for the last 5 years. The house is beautiful, the amenities horrible.. This year we had NO heat our first day/night, after multiple maintenance men coming they were unable to fix, 3 of the 4 small space heaters did not work. The gas hardly work we could barley cook! Idk why their is a cleaning fee when we arrived a dirty pamper at the front empty beer can in the drive way! Idk what is going on here!!! It's not like this place is cheap! After all the $ this place is raking in ($3700 for 3 nights) they should at least have some heat for people!!! Not to mention when we first arrived they gave us the wrong key, had to go back to the office to get the correct key ‍ .. This will be the last year for our family! Luxury is far from it...

Like many other of this meee sad reviews, I had no idea I was renting from a company instead of an individual until after we booked. They charge a 200)$ cleaning fee for my particular cabin and it was dirty upon arrival. There were dirty dishes. Pillow covers weren't put on , glass IN THE JACUZZI. No sponges, paper towels or soap to clean anything. By far my worst big bear and air bnb experience and it wasn't CHEAP. They think simply "apologizing" without monetary compensation is sufficient. It's NOT. They also have this unnecessary check in process of needing to pull into a physical address other than your cabin just to show your ID. You don't sign any papers or anything. NEVER AGAIN Edit: we asked them for cleaning fee refund and they said no, however airbnb made them Give it back to me. Meredith lodging rents their cabins to bear get away in case you book with either

This will be the first negative review I have ever left on Yelp. A group of friends and I rented a "lake front" cabin from this agency for 4th of July weekend. Upon arrival we were disgusted with the state of the property. #036 Eye of the Eagle. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS AGENCY! When we arrived at the home in the late afternoon (after 4pm) of 7/1/21, we were immediately concerned about the safety and cleanliness of the property. Including but not limited to: visible mold growth on the walls, ceilings and window coverings of multiple restrooms and bedrooms, non-working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, film falling and peeling from the ceiling, cracked/water damaged walls, discoloration around vents, broken vents being supported by sticks/poles, visibly damaged sealant and water damage above and below the deck, unwashed linens, stained carpets and pests including a nest of bats and countless insects. Immediately we walked the property and began to document the damage for our own protection, additionally we opened all the windows and doors in an attempt to remove the concerning odor in the home that increased in potency as we ventured to the rooms downstairs with the most visible water and mold damage. Our party was still arriving at the home throughout the morning and afternoon of 7/2/21 when we spoke with multiple members of your staff and it was at that time, due both to the unacceptable state of the property and the frankly disrespectful customer service agents that we made the decision to leave the home. After finally deciding to leave the home, and ruin our holiday weekend, we requested a refund from the agency which has now refused to refund our group and is claiming that we are attempting to extort them by asking for our money back. If you're looking for somewhere safe to stay in Big Bear, I would stay far away from this unprofessional agency and more importantly unsafe properties.

Black mold all throughout the house. You can smell it all throughout the house and instantly gives you a migraine. How is this place legal??
    Milo J.

Is this a $1000/night rental or a FORECLOSED home someone posted online as a cruel joke??? We stayed at #036 Cabin - Eye of the Eagle. NOT A CHILD (human) FRIENDLY RENTAL! (Please see my attached photos before even thinking of renting this cabin..) The smell of mold hits you in the face the second you walk through the door. Then you look up and see some of the worst black mold you have seen all throughout the house. Instantly gave me a migraine. So much so that I had to step outside. How is this place legal to rent? Outlets throughout the home are broken with exposed wires are far from up to code. If a child is in this home without constant supervision, there are some serious dangers. I felt like a bad husband expecting my wife to sleep on a bed that "poofed dust" when she sat on it. We made the decision to cancel our stay but we were not refunded by the company. Every flaw of this place was only highlighted by the cheap and dangerous "fix" completed by the owner or whoever is managing this rental. NO ONE should be allowed to stay at #036 Cabin - Eye of the Eagle until it is inspected by the city and some serious renovations are made. The owner and rental company managing this home should be ashamed for thinking this cabin is healthy/safe.

I am very plugged into the Big Bear rental community and have used other property managers in the past. I have also stayed as a guest in vacation rentals in Big Bear prior to owning my own. I was told years ago when we were looking for a new manager that Leanne was "best on the mountain" and after 4+ years I have to say we agree with that sentiment. She has her own properties up in Big Bear as well so she really understands what's important. She has somehow managed to form a highly effective team which is no small feat in Big Bear as it is often difficult to find hard workers! That alone is very impressive. Leanne has kept our place booked consistently these last 4 years even with all the challenges of being on the mountain (fires, blizzards, road closures, etc). If I ever reach out directly to Leanne she always responds promptly so she is very accessible to the home owners. Some of the reasons we left our last prop manager were because we were getting bad renters, last minute cancellations, and they did not support a higher end of service we wanted to provide (more amenities, personal touch, etc). With Leanne everything runs very smoothly and we have never been told they could not support what we wanted to do. I recommend Leanne all the time to others and some of my friends are also using her for their vacation rentals as well. If you are looking for a property manager I recommend interviewing 4-5 as they all vary and you want the best fit for your situation. Leanne was so easy to talk to and I read her management agreement in advance before deciding. You can learn a lot about the different PMs by reading there contracts!

On the wildlife issue: Whether it was rodent or bat droppings isn't the point -- either way, it's a health and safety hazard, and that's what my review addressed. On timing, we were told cleaning was signed off around 3:40-3:50 PM and we weren't given access to the unit until nearly 4:00 PM. By the host's own timeline, that leaves only a 10-20 minute window for this to have happened after cleaning -- or the unit wasn't properly cleaned to begin with. Either way, it should have been caught before a family with small children moved in. As for the house rules disclosing general wildlife possibility in Big Bear: a blanket disclosure doesn't excuse an active, uncleaned health hazard in the room our kids were about to sleep in. On "solution after solution": When we first called the property's staff, we were told there was no reported active issue at the unit -- no remediation or transfer was offered at that point. It was only after we contacted Airbnb support directly that a possible move to another property came up, and by then we chose to stay with family instead rather than lose more time getting our kids settled. To be clear, we never requested compensation, a discount, or anything beyond the refund for the booking we could no longer stay at and the playpen deposit. The mention of a future discount, and later a free stay at the owner's personal cabin, were both raised unprompted by her staff and the owner -- I only followed up to ask about the discount after her team had already brought it up, and we ultimately declined the cabin offer. On the Venmo/deposit point: This wasn't in my original review because it wasn't relevant to it; the owner raised it. For accuracy: we received both the Airbnb refund and the playpen deposit refund in full. The mismatch was in urgency -- the deposit was requested and paid promptly to get our kids settled, but getting it returned took three follow-up messages over a full day before it was processed that night. On the unannounced visit: While I was upstairs on the phone with Airbnb support trying to resolve this, the host sent an unfamiliar man to the property without confirming who was there or where. My wife and our two young children were downstairs. Regardless of exact positioning, having a stranger show up unannounced during an active safety complaint is not okay. On the personal outreach: We heard nothing from the owner personally until after this review was posted. At that point, she called, left a lengthy voicemail, and sent numerous long texts to my personal phone. Some of what was shared in that contact was inappropriate and unrelated to the situation, and I won't detail it here out of respect for her privacy -- but the manner and timing of it were unprofessional. Our original review reflected an accurate, factual account of what happened. We stand by it and won't be engaging further in the comments.

What I noticed about the location of this cabin was that it was further away from the heavy tourist areas but close enough to grocery stores, restaurants and shops. So if you are looking for peace and quiet this is the perfect getaway from the everyday stresses of life. This cabin includes a living room with a cute fireplace, a small but full kitchen with a eating area, full bathroom (water pressure is good and it heats up pretty quickly), a bedroom with a closet, access to the backyard, a front porch and a cozy loft with a flatscreen TV that I didn't touch once. I was primarily there solo to detox from the busy life of Los Angeles and not to ski since I was there beginning of May. Snuggle Bear Cabin had everything I needed to detox. I laid out my yoga mat and meditation pillow upstairs in the loft and it had an inviting view of tall trees out the window. It was a perfect environment to reflect on life, letting all creative juices flow, read and write. The solitude was exceptionally welcome. The final full day that I was there, my boyfriend came up to join me. And really...all we did was snuggle. I highly recommend this beautiful cabin for anyone to deeply relax and enjoy the natural wonders of Big Bear. Thank you, Melia, for his wonderful experience.

From the beginning to the end we had the best experience. The mansion has so much history, is perfect to accommodate multiple families with en suites, huge kitchen, many places to relax, and plenty to do. We had kids from ages 4 to 10. We thought we would run out of things for them to do. Not at all. The mansion is so huge, they had plenty of room to stretch out, the hills on the property provided for fun sledding and snowman building. The adults were either at the sauna, jacuzzi, kitchen, outside in the snow walking the 2 acres of property or just relaxing in one of the many comfy nooks. I highly recommend Edgewood Mansion for any type of event whether it's a birthday trip, family reunion, corporate retreat or any other purpose where you want to feel like you're at home, or provided for like a Queen. The location which is located higher up in the mountains is away from the traffic. The accommodations are immaculate and the concierge services provided by Chantal who was available to us 24/7 before we got there and during, was spot on. We catered instead of cooking which was so much easier on everyone so we could enjoy each other's company versus cooking. Chantal gave us choices and she had Mexican food delivered one night, Italian catered another and on New Years Eve we had a personal chef, Mike who is a master chef create the most delicious surf and turf dinner. We had piles of Alaskan king crab legs and the freshest, tastiest filet. Everything was provided. This was an amazing trip because of where we stayed, the owner Laura who was so accommodating and Chantal who was so helpful. Our friends have not stopped thanking us for coordinating this trip. We all got to spend time together with the kids together and not feeling overwhelmed because everything was at our fingertips. This is super dangerous and luckily my youngest daughter did not get burned. There is no reason to allow your water heater to pump out scolding hot water, that is a simple adjustment. Fan in the bathroom is broken upstairs so to get air flow from a shower, you need to open the window which is in direct view of the neighbors living space. How the cleaning service does not notice this is confusing. The towels in the bathrooms are literally rags, all mixed matched, some with holes and super thin. Just a bit odd when you need 4 towels to dry off. The kitchen did not have a decent quality or array of items needed. The dishwasher had a rubber band holding the utensil tray on. The fireplace/living room was why we choose this location so that was as expected. The lingering Christmas decorations were a bit odd but with the overall quality of the property, it makes me think the property is just not either rented often or maintained. And last but not least, while we stayed for 2 nights, keep in mind we were out and about all day, a critter chewed all the wiring in our engine. It definitely was at this cabin since our engine light went on when we were departing on our last day. We assumed it was a faulty sensor since my car is new but as it turns out, $1,067 later, something ate through our engine while it was parked at the unit. And, that $1,067 may not fix it. If it doesn't work, the dealership told me they would need to replace this entire section. I did not bother to ask how much that was going to be. There are signs all over reminding you to not feed critters and you can not use their city issued trash receptacles. They want you to take the trash with you to this local dump which for this cabin, was in a convenient location. Not a big deal they want you to take the trash, but I am assuming the critter issue is a much bigger problem. We also opted to have the trip insurance just in case of weather. Although they cover a wide array of random things, the one thing they have listed as being not covered is.......VERMIN. I notified the management and they responded with a we will look into it. Take pictures of the cabin when you arrive and when you leave. The condition of the cabin was OK and i had no major issues during my stay. My problems started two days after i got home. I received a request from the booking agent for $500! The message read: 'Thank you for taking care of the deck repair. Michelle' I responded immediately asking what had happened and that i was unaware of any issues while renting. I feel like this type of communication was rude and absolutely presumptuous that i caused the damage. You see, i went to Big Bear when everything was covered in snow. It had been covered for the last weeks from a previous snowfall, and the snow had not melted yet. When i arrived at my cabin, it was completely covered - including the deck. We were not able to use the deck for this reason. Obviously the rental company did not shovel the snow in between renters. There was no further response from her and she escalated the issue to the AirBnb team. There was no dialogue or attempt to speak with me regarding this, which I believe would have deescalated the situation because i attached a picture clearly showing that the deck was covered in snow/ice. It did not snow while we were there - this was obviously from previous snowfall. The damage pictures she sent looked like a burn marks on the deck. Those burn mark pictures were soaked in snow melt and ice. Obviously this could not have been done by me i my picture shows the deck covered in snow. Till today, after escalating the issue the rental company has not followed up with myself or AirBnb. It is unprofessional and unnecessary to work with your customers this way. This company turned my great vacation into anxiety when i came home. I would never rent with them again. Be professional, do you diligence and don't accuse your renters of damage because you don't adequately check your properties in between rentals. -Renee
