This is a very beautiful place. However, for $1140 per night, I was expecting everything to be working. The main bathroom has two doors and neither one locks. The downstairs bathroom doesn't get enough water pressure. The maintenance people said that is a plumbing problem and they cannot do anything about it. We couldn't shower in it because the water was too cold. The kitchen didn't have cooking oil, only half roll of napkins, and two trash bags. We had to buy the cooking oil, more napkins, and more trash bags. Finally, we requested a later check out because they want people out by 10 AM. They promised to get back to us, but they never did. read more

The team at Big Bear Vacations was great! They send you reminders, pre check in information and they make sure your questions don't go unanswered. The place we rented was great! It was in a quiet cul de sac, and is a 10 minute walk to the village. The home was incredibly comfortable and I loved how big the tvs were (usually they are small and old in these vacation homes), and the furniture was comfortable. I'm seeing some very bad reviews and feel for those families. However, My family and I stayed right on the water for 3 days in Lakeshore 012 and had nothing but a great experience! I've been wanting to come here since seeing Jackie and Shadows YouTube stream 2 years ago. The views from the deck were absolutely stunning. The house was pretty clean. It's an older home so understandably some things weren't 100% perfect. We had no problems. Beds were clean, kitchen and bathrooms were clean. Kitchen was stocked with all the dishes, pans, cutlery we would need! Appliances all worked fines The jet tub and hot tub were the best! The bbq grill was a must for us. We were able to grill all of our favorites while enjoying the beautiful view of the lake. We watched many people catch fish right on the dock that was in front of the home even! My kids loved it too. They had plenty of room to play and explore. We all really enjoyed the pool table, so much fun!! Stefani and Jocelyn ensured we were able to check in with no issues on arrival day, checked in on us after the first night and also made sure we were able to check out smoothly. They were very communicative during the whole process and made sure that if we needed anything we could let them know immediately. It was our first time in Big Bear and we enjoyed our stay at the property and our 3 day weekend getaway. I would definitely recommend big bear vacations to friends or family and already have had a few people ask where we stayed! Can't wait to book our next vacation to Big Bear and will book with Stefani again for sure! read more

Cabin was very spacious and beautiful! Love booking through Big bear vacations because they always reply right away when i text them if i have any questions. The only bad thing about our cabin was that the bar was full of ants. And i mean full! And it wasn't spotless. The blankets and pillows in the living room for the sofa beds didn't seem clean to be quite honest. And the balcony chairs and as well as a few other things around the home were full of spider webs. The sinks weren't clean. The one in the bar had pieces of fruit from who knows how long. These homes should be spotless. BUT, we didn't feel the need to complain during our stay because we genuinely weren't in the cabin all day. We went out in The Village for the most part. Overall, everything was great but they need to do a better job with the cleaning. read more

They did some upgrades, but still kept some of that Big Bear cabin charm . Location is amazing, right on the lake with amazing views! This is the first time we rented a cabin like this. We had a really nice time. Everybody had their own room , with their own bathroom. There was a pool table. Mostly ok. There were some challenges and while I anticipated a rustic cottage I did not anticipate it to be a bit run down. firstly, it mentioned the heat was supposed to remain at 55 in the cottage and while we fed the fireplace to knock the cold off in the morning and eveninga the fireplace was built to be a gas fireplace and the gas line was capped off to convert it to firewood heat. The problem is it didn't have great ventilation and struggled to get enough oxygen to the wood without constant attention plus we both smelled like an open air fire pit when we got home. The blinds were broken. the towel rack in the bathroom was only anchored by screws not drywall anchors so it wouldn't support a face cloth. Outside of that it was okay. read more

I rented a cabin through Big Bear Vacations. First of all it was cheaper than any other site and second, from the moment I booked i received text messages from a concierge. They replied within minutes to any questions I had. The only downfall was that I had to go personally check in at their office to show my ID and credit card even though I had done it online. It was a smooth 5 minute process but still a bit of a hassle to stop by. read more

Not only was our cabin accommodation spacious and filled with lots of fun and entertainment amenities such as hot tub, billiard table, foosball, shuffleboard, hockey table, 2 large TV in the den and living room to watch countless movies, their price compared to AirBnB was more affordable. Both young kids and adults alike had so much fun at the cabin we hardly go out to do more activities. The Big Bear Vacations staff were always prompt in attending to our concerns and questions. Maintenance were quick to respond in all the help and support we needed. Staff were very hospitable. The house was well equipped with all the basic needs for your weekend family fun vacation. This is our experience: 715 Marin - Occupancy 4 No. It's not bright and cheery until you open drapes. This is an epic cabin. Well suited for humans and pets! This is an AWESOME CABIN! Super - walking distance to town, an outside patio (very cute with decorative lights), both front and back, upper deck and all fenced in if you have a pup. We struck gold. Checkin was a breeze, the cabin is a dream and then the lake and all of Big Bear! The bed and pillows are so comfy. Slept great ..... We brought spices but they give you them at checkin! All the amenities, epic kitchen (serious excellent appliances, slow cooker, all the utensils... why are people complaining?!), plenty of blankets... location/amenities/what's not to love?!? On the day of check out we didn't want to leave. Called at 0800 and was able to extend a day! FIVE STARS - This was a treat! read more

They are terrible with communication and overall, their properties are unkempt. My experience with BBV was amazing to say the least and it started from the moment I booked cabin 336 Mullins Drive through Expedia. I received an email confirming my booking, the day of our stay I got a text asking what time I would be arriving, so far so good. As soon as we got to the area around 10am I texted them and they told me to go check in at their office. When I get there the establishment is well decorated, clean and gave me all the cabin vibes I was expecting. Ashlie helped us, she was so sweet, she provided a free spice/seasonings gift and gave us breakfast recommendations. As for our cabin being ready, not quite, it was being cleaned but she explained that we would receive an email when the cabin was ready, and luckily it was available by 1:30pm which was awesome because normal check in time was 4pm. So check-in was nice, the cabin has been kept up well and they put up Christmas decorations, so it was giving its all. I loved the coziness and setup. First night we noticed an issue with water flow in bathroom/kitchen sink and tub. I sent a text about 10pm, I knew it was too late for someone to come out. Next morning I called to see if they received my message. They confirmed and said they would be sending someone out. Within 20 minutes someone was there looking at the issue. They figured out what was wrong and sent another person to bring tools and repair items. Water was flowing within the hour! Our cabin had central heat only downstairs, rooms upstairs were equipped with plug in heaters but they didn't do much. They should consider changing those out. Others worth mentioning: -Kitchen was fully equipped with all dishes, flatware, pots and pans. Also had crock pot and electrically skillet. -BBQ had gas tank, tongs, spatula, etc. -TV was Samsung smart tv, so you can watch netflix, hulu, hbo max, etc. -Closest had extra blankets and sheets read more

The home is very large, accommodating all 16 of us and is at an ideal location on the lake with a private dock and our family favorite, it has a large spa on the deck. Gorgeous views from all directions and several outside gathering spots including one with a gas fire pit that we sat around every evening. The decor is very dated, but quite functional. I didn't give it a 5 star because we arrived promptly at 4:00 waiting for the cleaning lady to be done, but it was over 30 minutes before she was. Upon entering, we noticed several things needed attention, for example: many lightbulbs were burned out, the blinds on a lot of the windows weren't functional or had a lot of the vertical slats missing, which made sleeping in after the sun rose difficult. Many lamp shades and a few chairs were broken and one wall had a small hole in it from a door knob, there were no pot holders or kitchen towels anywhere to be found. Anytime one uses the stove they needed to manually light the burners and the refrigerator had no water to it so no filtered water or ice. Having said all of that, it was a great place for the family vacation, we just wish we had known what to expect before booking. read more

We were excited to have a nice cabin for a weekend. Everything went nice. Left the house clean/ organized, the way it should be when we arrived. Apparently just got a text 2 days after stated that we left some dishes in the sink. We dont wanna agree coz we knew that I made sure all the dishes appliances we used were all clean and placed where they supposed to be. Been texting them maybe it's a wrong cabin. They still insisted. So whoever cleaned our cabin maybe sent a wrong info/photo to their office and we're the ones being blamed and charged of such iresponsible act. One thing, I learned after being a renter for vacation places like this, is that I will take a pictures before and after we were in the property, so if something happens like this we have a proof! We know tgat we never violated anything. Atleast our conscience is clean. read more

What does a family do when they want to enjoy some family time in the snow? Big Bear Vacations was an option we have come to regret. We opted for a Big Bear Vacations cabin rental for the weekend of January 25th. The day of our trip, we were notified that the power was out in the Big Bear area due to high winds in the desert. The notifications projected that power outages might end right about the time we planned to arrive, 6:00pm. We left Orange County and after a two-hour road trip, arrived at our quaint but dark and cold cabin a bit before 6:00pm on Friday. Our young children were excited. We had one headlamp and a small flashlight to quickly transfer our belongings into the cabin. There wasn't much to do in the dark, but with the flicker of light every hour or so, we knew that Big Bear Power was on the case, working the problem. To kill some time, we drove into town and bought firewood and sat down at a restaurant for dinner. Surprisingly, the commercial areas of downtown Big Bear had power. As time passed, we knew we might soon need to make a hard decision. Back at the cabin that was still in the dark, we bundled up and tried to stay warm. We played a few games, but the time finally came when we had endured as much of the cold as we could. The last straw was a 30 second teaser of power. The prospect of a long cold night in a dark cabin was not what we hoped. It was also potentially dangerous. We tried, but our family time was going to have to wait for another weekend. Being conscientious, we notified Big Bear Vacations that we weren't sure about the status of their cabin when we left. We tried, but without power it's impossible to be sure the lights are off and the heat is turned down. We sent Big Bear Vacations a text advising them that they should check the cabin when power returns. We cleaned the cabin as best we could and attempted to leave it in the condition we found it. Funny thing: we discussed possibly paying a cleaning fee for the inconvenience, the inconvenience that we caused. What fools we were. We didn't cancel, we didn't postpone, we didn't even complain. We showed up and gave it the old college try. We were bound and determined to try and make it work. What we didn't foresee was the need for subfreezing clothing or sleeping bags. The interior of the refrigerator was warmer than the inside of the cabin. We kept being teased with flickers of light and long stretches of darkness. We entertained ourselves by watching our warm breath condensate in the beam of our slowly dimming flashlights. We stayed in communication (text) with Big Bear Vacations but there were few options, and it was getting late. We were running low on phone power, waiting for some luck. I'm sure Big Bear Vacations were copying and pasting the same crummy messages to other unlucky vacationers who were also stuck in this horrible situation. We weren't even concerned about the money at that stage, just our kid''s safety. Priorities. A few days after returning home, we inquired about a refund or a credit due to the cabin being inhospitable. We were thanked for being "patient and understanding." Uh oh. That presumptive and condescending statement is usually not a good sign. Here is how they responded: Big Bear Vacations apologized and stated "NO REFUNDS will be made for cancellations due to weather, acts of nature..." They quoted a whole paragraph of their contract! But that wasn't all... out of the goodness of their hearts, Big Bear Vacations offered a 10% discount off a future stay, "Please hurry and let us know if you'd like to take advantage of this offer, and we'd be happy to assist you!" Holy mackerel, they wanted even more of our money. Pretty sure they don't have a conscience or a soul. It makes me wonder if we were texting with AI. Big Bear Vacations refused to offer a refund or a credit. What we received was a very important lesson: Big Bear Vacations is a soulless entity, driven by greed, that will 'love you long time' until the contract is signed and the money is in the bank. After that, you're on your own. They are not interested in providing amazing vacation experiences as they state, they simply want your money.
