Our cabin was beautiful, super clean, and looked like it was recently renovated. We loved that it was a one story because we had two young children with us. The level driveway was awesome. What could go wrong, right? We were supposed to be able to check in at 4:00. We weren't able to check in until 4:40. Housecleaning apparently is short-staffed and the cabin wasn't ready. It was very cold outside. We were not happy that we had to wait so long to enter. There were no trash bags left for us (luckily we had brought our own) no coffee maker (We requested one and they promised they would deliver one, but NEVER did, so we bought our own), lots of towels but only 2 hand towels for the 7 of us, not even 1 pod of laundry detergent, no paper towels. Worst thing is, we originally reserved this property from VRBO, then it was transferred to Vacasa, then again to Big Bear Vacations. Since it was transferred to Big Bear Vacations, I've had nothing but problems. First, they cancelled my reservation. I had to fight them to get it back, but somewhere between Vacasa and Big Bear Vacations our down payment was LOST. Big Bear staff could care less and was unwilling to help in any way. To this date (1/7/26- our trip was 12/27 - 12/30) I still haven't received my down payment back. Beware, this company couldn't care less about their customers. They'll give you lip service, but that is it. I will never rent from Big Bear Rentals again. read more

We stayed in cabin #106. Overall, the cabin itself was okay. The biggest pro is definitely the location -- it's just a 30-second walk to the lake, which was super convenient. Right nearby there's a playground and a pool, which made it great for kids. The grounds are actually pretty nice, with games, a grill, ping pong, and swings. There's even a private pier where you can watch the sunset or do a little fishing. Now for the cons, and they mostly apply to this specific cabin. The place is really old and wasn't clean. There was a thick layer of dust under the beds -- we normally wouldn't look, but with little kids, we had to. It was honestly pretty gross. The closets were also a disappointment. Neither had hooks or any way to organize clothes, and they were partially filled with what looked like the owner's stuff. One closet even had a broken door just leaning there. So, overall, I'd give it a 6 out of 10. If you get a great price and don't mind an outdated cabin, the location and lake access do make up for some of the flaws. read more

Vacation was great . we had some minor issues with some cabins heating not working. I texted the number to advise and the maintenance dep. arrived promptly, they were able to fix a couple of heaters , some they couldn't. There were electric heaters available for use. We were very excited to stay at the Luxury Lodge #1888 cabin with Big Bear Vacation. Unfortunately the cabin fell short on our expectations multiple times. Proper working heater and hot water are the basic expectation when renting a cabin in December in Big Bear. Having to notify Big Bear Vacations numerous of times each day during our 2 night stay to just get heat and hot water fixed for 7 children and 5 adults is unbelievable. First incident, we understand things happen but It becomes ridiculous when I have to notify property management just about each time we need to use the heater to warm up the cabin or get hot water for showers. Adjusting our plans to accommodate maintenance issue in a cabin that we had rented should have NEVER happened!! Our time was meant to be spent with family. Switching to a different cabin wasn't even an option. They did offer a later check out but "really" read the room at that point NO one wanted to stay there. I did receive a survey from Big Bear Vacation and gave an honest review in addition I noted that I will be writing an online review. Today on Christmas Eve 12/24 (2 days after check out) management called to supposedly check in but to really ask us to take our review down for $250 compensation or 10% off on our next stay with Big Bear Vacation. The nerve! They still don't get it and apparently don't care. They wasted my families time and money. I hope no one else will have this same experience. I will never stay at this "LUXURY LODGE" ever again. read more

The propane tank was not full. The sliding glass doors were difficult to open and close. 3 of the 4 outside chairs were broken. Someone came to fix them, but they came loose the following day. The kitchen cookware was not very appealing. The shampoo, body wash dispensers were not full and/or working. The ping pong table net and rackets were broken. We booked a cabin for our Thanksgiving Big Bear Family trip and it was amazing. From the initial booking Stephanie was very informative and gave me lots of tips. We arrived on Thanksgiving day and we had a small issue. I thought for sure we would have to wait until the next day due to it being Thanksgiving but to my surprise we were taken care of immediately. We loved our cabin but most of all we loved the extraordinary customer service provided by Dakota (our maintenance hero) and Urias who checked up on us to make sure our family was taken care of. 5 Star customer service rating is not nearly enough to provide this company and the team it has they deserve a millions stars. Since day one, they were helpful in every aspect of our stay. We had an issue with a smoke detector and no more than 3 mins they responded and send someone and they took care of it. When we had a question, it did not take them more than 5 mins to respond with an answer or a possible solution via text. In the morning they even reached out if we needed anything due to weather conditions. I know there were probably more people in the concierge side but want to give a shout out to the following people Bianca , Freddy K and Santiago that were every attentive and regarding the safety of our family during the weather conditions. Location was good and house was great except for a couple things. The master bedroom bed is very firm and I didn't sleep well. There is no washer and dryer available for use. The upstairs master bedroom floor makes a lot of noise walking around (squeaking) which is above the downstairs bedroom. It is very loud. These are not completely terrible but it would be nice to know when making a decision where to stay. There was also a dead squirrel on top of the patio table out back that was apparent it had been there for quite some time that had been half eaten by other creatures. We stayed in *Blue Dreams*Relaxing Fawnskin Retreat Cabin* / Sueños Azules- Fawnskin Retreat Cottage in Big Bear over 4th of July weekend. This home did not meet our expectations. But worse were the lies and poor service from Big Bear Vacations. I called and messaged dozens of times. After our trip I was denied a refund because "I didn't report it during our stay". I have pages of proof that photos and issues were reported when we checked in. I was told they couldn't move us to a different home because of the holiday weekend. Listed as 2 bathrooms, only 1.5 Listed as having a BBQ, no BBQ Listed as parking 3 cars, but only 2 Both toilets had signs saying to not flush toilet paper 2 dead mice in traps, mouse poop on floors AC does not work upstairs Spider webs in the kitchen Upstairs bathroom sink did not drain Oven does not work well Could not use 2 of the TVs Kitchen very poorly stocked - no toaster, no sheet pans, no casserole pans read more

Our stay was between Christmas and New Years. Last minute. Our first time using BBV. We were very pleased. We would highly suggest for this cabin rented, that some solar lights be placed on the entrance steps! There's an accident waiting to happen if not. The cabin was overall comfortable, except for the mattresses, unless you sleep on marshmallows regularly. BBVs was also quick to address the trash left by previous renters, so we wouldn't be charged. The cost for our three nights was also much less than an agency we've gone through for other rentals, ( CC ). We'll definitely use BBV again soon! read more

This lovely home easily accommodated our extended family of 13 gathering for Thanksgiving. The many bedrooms and bathrooms afforded space and privacy. The open kitchen , with it's double oven, made meal prep a breeze. The kids loved the pool and ping pong tables, and the hot tub and fire pit were easy to use. We saw Stellar jays, chipmunks, and squirrels, and collected pinecones. The temp of the house was comfortable and easy to maintain, and I do LOVE a wood burning fireplace! Great spot, close to the water with things for kids to do. While the cabin was a bit small it was quaint. A bit too dark for my taste I think better lighting would help. The front door had a gap so bugs would fly in but not too bad . It has a pool but was locked by the time we got there and didn't see it unlock the following morning. There are no Kohima trails near by but over all a great Experience and the price was great. Will be returning for sure ! read more

We have an annual family tradition that takes us to Snow Summit each year to ski in December. We like to stay within walking distance and our family of mostly adults - 6 of us we need bed space. Our stay Dec 2024 was perfect in location and perfect in size of the place for us to all be very comfortable. The unit was properly filled with dishes, pots and pans and was very clean. my only "complaint" is the unit only offered one car parking which can be tricky up on the mountain. We wanted to rent a lake front cabin for family members. We kept driving by the cabin (which was occupied for almost a month by someone with an old pickup truck). Called the Big Bear Vacations number 5 times - no one ever picked up the phone, nor could we leave a voice message... I think that there were SQUATTERS living in that rental -- possibly a company employee (this does happen with rental companies). That would explain why they didn't answer the phone! read more

I'm seeing some very bad reviews and feel for those families. However, My family and I stayed right on the water for 3 days in Lakeshore 012 and had nothing but a great experience! I've been wanting to come here since seeing Jackie and Shadows YouTube stream 2 years ago. The views from the deck were absolutely stunning. The house was pretty clean. It's an older home so understandably some things weren't 100% perfect. We had no problems. Beds were clean, kitchen and bathrooms were clean. Kitchen was stocked with all the dishes, pans, cutlery we would need! Appliances all worked fines The jet tub and hot tub were the best! The bbq grill was a must for us. We were able to grill all of our favorites while enjoying the beautiful view of the lake. We watched many people catch fish right on the dock that was in front of the home even! My kids loved it too. They had plenty of room to play and explore. We all really enjoyed the pool table, so much fun!! Stefani and Jocelyn ensured we were able to check in with no issues on arrival day, checked in on us after the first night and also made sure we were able to check out smoothly. They were very communicative during the whole process and made sure that if we needed anything we could let them know immediately. It was our first time in Big Bear and we enjoyed our stay at the property and our 3 day weekend getaway. I would definitely recommend big bear vacations to friends or family and already have had a few people ask where we stayed! This is a very beautiful place. However, for $1140 per night, I was expecting everything to be working. The main bathroom has two doors and neither one locks. The downstairs bathroom doesn't get enough water pressure. The maintenance people said that is a plumbing problem and they cannot do anything about it. We couldn't shower in it because the water was too cold. The kitchen didn't have cooking oil, only half roll of napkins, and two trash bags. We had to buy the cooking oil, more napkins, and more trash bags. Finally, we requested a later check out because they want people out by 10 AM. They promised to get back to us, but they never did. read more

The blankets and pillows in the living room for the sofa beds didn't seem clean to be quite honest. And the balcony chairs and as well as a few other things around the home were full of spider webs. The sinks weren't clean. The one in the bar had pieces of fruit from who knows how long. These homes should be spotless. BUT, we didn't feel the need to complain during our stay because we genuinely weren't in the cabin all day. We went out in The Village for the most part. My experience with BBV was amazing to say the least and it started from the moment I booked cabin 336 Mullins Drive through Expedia. I received an email confirming my booking, the day of our stay I got a text asking what time I would be arriving, so far so good. As soon as we got to the area around 10am I texted them and they told me to go check in at their office. When I get there the establishment is well decorated, clean and gave me all the cabin vibes I was expecting. Ashlie helped us, she was so sweet, she provided a free spice/seasonings gift and gave us breakfast recommendations. As for our cabin being ready, not quite, it was being cleaned but she explained that we would receive an email when the cabin was ready, and luckily it was available by 1:30pm which was awesome because normal check in time was 4pm. So check-in was nice, the cabin has been kept up well and they put up Christmas decorations, so it was giving its all. I loved the coziness and setup. First night we noticed an issue with water flow in bathroom/kitchen sink and tub. I sent a text about 10pm, I knew it was too late for someone to come out. Next morning I called to see if they received my message. They confirmed and said they would be sending someone out. Within 20 minutes someone was there looking at the issue. They figured out what was wrong and sent another person to bring tools and repair items. Water was flowing within the hour! Our cabin had central heat only downstairs, rooms upstairs were equipped with plug in heaters but they didn't do much. They should consider changing those out. Others worth mentioning: -Kitchen was fully equipped with all dishes, flatware, pots and pans. Also had crock pot and electrically skillet. -BBQ had gas tank, tongs, spatula, etc. -TV was Samsung smart tv, so you can watch netflix, hulu, hbo max, etc. -Closest had extra blankets and sheets read more
