I was in the area for business traveling from Oklahoma. The slaw was good. The onion rings were generic. The brisket was a flat. It was ample proportions and had a good flavor. The bark was nice and the texture was right on. The only issue was it was the brisket was dry. But this could be a NY thing. How they cut the fat off (none) and people may like it dry here. It was served with an infused oil that was nice and flavorful. But that could not overcome the dryness. This is sad especially when charging a premium for beef right now. I also had a strawberry pudding that was way to sweet. Yikes! All in all the people were friendly and it seemed they liked and enjoyed BBQ. That is better than other places I have been where they were serving bbq. They hated it and it showed. If you are near give this place your business! Come visit! read more

WOW. The food is absolutely amazing. The ribs are always spot on. The mac and cheese is some of the best I've ever had. The corn bread is sooo good -sweet & fluffy. Brisket is always tender. Pulled pork slider are so good too. I usually get like 4, lol. Also, what a great idea to do a sauce flight!! Really cool. I hired Big Belly to cater our son's first birthday party and I can only say great things about them from start to finish. Communicating with Chris from the beginning was a breeze, and he made everything so easy. The servers that came on the day were both so kind, friendly, and professional from the moment they arrived to the moment they left. It was such a hot day and they worked so, so hard. They even packed up leftovers for us and brought them in house. I just could not be more impressed with everything they did and with smiles the whole day. The food was just beyond, and there was so much to enjoy. Our guests could not stop raving about everything. There was something for everyone to eat and no one went without. The onion rings, the mac and cheese, the cornbread, even the salad, oh my goodness everything was just incredible. My one year old was scarfing down the mac and cheese before bedtime. We decided to try this restaurant through a third party app. I have been trying a lot of new places lately due to the pandemic. The first time I tried to place an order was on a Sunday. I received a phone call about ten minutes later. They ran out of brisket! The owner Chris called me personally. He offered several reasonable substitutions, but we really wanted the brisket. Chris was very pleasant, personable and polite. He instructed me to call back next Thursday through Sunday, as those are the only days the brisket is sold. The owner apologized for the inconvenience, and said he would include extra brisket in our upcoming order to compensate for their shortage. Chris said to simply place a reminder in the notes on the third party app. He made the resolution so simple! When we ordered we indicated Chris' instructions on the third party app. The order was delivered quickly and perfectly! The brisket was well worth waiting for, and the restaurant definitely gave us extra meat, as promised. The meat fell right off the fork. I didn't even need to use a knife. This is melt in your mouth brisket, complete with the smoke ring. Real deal. We requested that they put the marinade on the side. Like any good piece of meat, the marinade was complementary, but not necessary. It was just like when you go to an exceptional steakhouse, if the meat is high quality, steak sauce and additional condiments are not required. The corn bread was homemade, soft and tasty. The fries were nicely seasoned and very fresh. The coleslaw and onion rings were excellent. The macaroni and cheese was an interesting blend of shell pasta with a thick peppery cheese sauce. Very good. I would definitely recommend this eatery. Everything was amazing. I will be a repeat customer. I can't help but to wonder whether these reviews are fake. Ordered ~$100 worth of take out. See below for details: The "build your own" burgers were supposed to come with lettuce, tomato and cheese on a brioche bun. They did, but also an obnoxious amount of disgusting sauce, rendering the "brioche buns" slimy and soggy. The brioche buns in the pictures are not what we received. Our sandwiches were on cheap, store bought buns, that were falling apart. The meat (at a bbq restaurant) was 100% frozen hockey puck style beef. Horrible, Horrible, HORRIBLE. Crispy chicken sandwiches had the exact same issue. Soggy, slimy inedible buns. Flavorless, frozen chicken and an obnoxious amount of odd tasting sauce. French fries were so weird. Had a decent Cajun flavor, but there was literally no inside to the fry. Just a cardboard textured outside, with a hollow inside. The only explanation is frozen for a really long time. Corn bread - undercooked. No flavor. Broccoli - okay I guess? Wings - Frozen, you get the idea...? Super confident these reviews are fake. We have a lot of good food in the Town of Smithtown, and palettes are usually on point with reviews in sync. Extremely disappointed across the board. Complete waste of time and money. Onion rings were to hard, could barely taste the thin onion used. Mac and cheese was AWFUL!!!! Pretty speechless about that one. Even our baby wouldn't eat it and she normally loves Mac. Fries weren't great. It's worth it to travel the extra 20 minutes further to Old Fields BBQ. So far nothing in Suffolk has topped Old Fields or come even remotely close. The establishment's owner contacted me today. For that alone I decided to revise my earlier review. I understand the current plight of restaurant owners in our current economic and social climate. This is no easy profession these days, nor has it ever been. The staff may have had a day of laxity when I ordered. I understand that upward spiraling costs and the difficulty of getting the requisite supplies and quality produce for restaurants has grown geometrically, recently. The quality of the staples has also been diminished, lately. None of this has been the fault of these hard-working restaurant entrepreneurs. The owner has promised to make amends, with closer observations of the staff and the product's quality. That is good enough for me to remain a customer. My comments may have been overly harsh at the time I wrote the review. Isolation syndrome? Disappointment? Perhaps! Maybe, just grouchy. Life has changed for everyone. I will give the establishment another try and promise to better understand that we are all facing challenges in these tough times. I commend the owner's courage and commitment to me and the community. I am sure (s)he will do their best to bring the best product available to each customer. Took a flyer on this bbq place in a strip mall in Smithtown and found a gem! The place is small with seating for 10 or so, it's really setup as a takeout joint. My wife and I base casual eating restaurants on two surefire litmus tests: chicken wings & fried calamari. More often than not one of these two trips up the restaurant. I can say with certainty the Buffalo wings were outstanding, well done and tangy, eight used napkins will verify that! Our pulled brisket sandwich and pulled chicken burrito were fantastic. The counter staff were really accommodating with the owner personally bringing out our meal and explaining his cooking process. After moving to the area, I stumbled across this little strip of businesses on Jericho Tpke and just the name alone sparked my interest. Looking over the menu it was almost impossible what not to choose, it all seemed (and smelled) so delicious. Upon ordering for my posse, it did not disappoint either!. Ordered for first time New Year's Eve, 12/31/21. Called in order at 6:15pm. Family meal ordered with pulled pork and brisket. No brisket left so went with all pulled pork. Sides were two coleslaw, one baked bean, one loaded baked potato. Corn bread and twelve wings were included. One extra side of onion rings was also ordered. Ready time said to be in 45 mins, at 7pm. Pros: 1.Pulled pork tasted good. Nice Smokey flavor and moist. 2. Coleslaw was tasty, thin sliced and still had nice crunch. Good flavor yet no onion in it. 3. Wings were nice sized and tasted good with medium Buffalo sauce. 4. Baked potato was good, as well. 5. Onion rings were nice and crunchy but looked like food service type. Prefer beer battered rings. 6. The two ladies at the counter were very nice and professional. Upon my request, quality paper plates, napkins and flatware was included as was a 5% military discount. Cons: 1. Pork dish weighed exactly one pound, as advertised, but that weight included the tin, cover and a slathering of bbq sauce (should not have been on real bbq). Sauce should have been on the side, if at all. Business should have tared container, add one pound of meat, and put sauce on the side. 2. Baked beans were horrible. Minimal taste, watery and small beans. Looked straight out of a Campbells can. If bbq sauce was to be placed on anything, how about these beans for some flavor? Note: I was told by my guest that these are not the beans they had prior. My take is they ran out and substituted junk beans. 3. No corn bread was ready even though I arrived at 7:10pm. I was told I would have to wait another ten minutes. I opted for the offer of two banana crunch desserts instead. 4. I missed the small sign for 4% credit card fee. When I checked receipt and saw that, the staff pleasantly refunded and rang it up for cash. All in all, it was a busy time for a first try. Brisket, beans and corn bread issue might be due to being unprepared for a busier night than expected. The food was good but I felt it wasn't worth $66 and change as the meat only fed two persons which I don't consider to be a true family size. Making it worse was that the meat was shorted. For the meat and bean issues, I won't be back. Any true bbq enthusiast, like me, would consider the bean offering a proverbial crime. read more

My sister and I stopped by today to give them a try and these guys are not only the nicest but they learned some secrets to make some of the best BBQ I've had this side of the Mason Dixon Line ! I spoke briefly with one of the owners and learned he opened during the pandemic last year and used their new equipment to supply food to hospital staff across the island , I was working in one so they lifted our spirits while we were down with their generosity! Just ordered the family BBQ meal. Wow! The wings are big, meaty and smokey. Very tasty and filling. Opted for a pound of brisket. A bit drier than some I've had in the South but with a tangy sauce, it was very good. Very lean, and the smoke flavor comes thru. Sides were all good. Baked beans could use a bit more kick, but tasty with bits of meat. Some of the best Cole slaw I've had outside of North Carolina. Tasty and moist corn bread too. This was my first visit to Big Belly Que. I ordered the brisket platter with mac & cheese and onion rings. Brisket was moist, smoky and full of flavor. Mac & cheese was definitely home made and one of the best I have ever had. Onions rings were crispy and well seasoned. The cornbread was tender and delicious. Service was fast and portions were plentiful. Friendly and helpful staff was the icing on the cake.
