wow. over 17 year ago review- but you know what? This is still my go to for barbecue in Orange County. I'm a pork rib guy not a brisket guy unless you're coming in at 3 AM to start it, so for me their pork ribs are not only tasty and tender, but I love the sauce. Damn, I can eat these without the sauce. I went to that Long Beach barbecue festival last year, and there were a couple places that had some really really really tasty barbecue, but they are super far away from me. This place isnt close to me, but it's worth the drive. Bout the only place I think that's better than this that I've experienced is Earls in Carson. And man they got the sides, along with the desserts and the barbecue is beyond point. I get maybe the criticism about the sides or whatever but you know what, I go to a barbecue place, it's not so much about the sides. It's really about the barbecue. I can make mac & cheese. I can make coleslaw. I can buy it other places where I know it's done better so again still the best barbecue I've had in OC, sides notwithstanding. Really can't tell you much about the rest of the menu, I don't eat chicken anymore, but every time I've taken somebody to this place or gotten barbecue from this place, other people seem to like it too. read more

I got the rib lunch plate and the ribs were tender. The bbq flavor is vinegar based and there wasn't much crust so not sure if they use rub or not? I didn't smell smoke when I walked in so possibly cooked the night before? It is normal for a bbq joint to make stuff ahead... but this was different imho. I didn't like their beans side dish at all and the "roll" was out of a bag from the supermarket. Cold, hard, and not my cup of tea. I would not come back because anyone can cook ribs in an oven... We placed an order online. Full slab of ribs with sides of coleslaw and beans, fried zucchini, and the fish & chips. The fish & chips looked disappointing, dry, and stale. The fish was tough and lacked flavor. The ribs had great flavor, but didn't fall off the bone well. I think it needs to be slow cooked longer. The sides were decent, but a little too small in comparison to the meat given, and they only gave one roll for two people to eat. The fried zucchini was great. read more

Randomly stumbled upon Big B's after another place sold out of most of their meats, and it was so good. Got the combo which came with a chicken thigh which was cooked well and 1/3 of baby back ribs. The barbecue sauce has a good subtle spicy tangy flavor. Service was great and will definitely come back again soon. read more

Stumbled upon this BBQ joint while looking for a new bakery in the same shopping center. My hubby loves BBQ, so we came back today to try it out. The place itself is small with 2 four top tables and a counter with stools along the side; there are a couple of picnic tables right outside if you prefer to eat al fresco. Hole in the wall comes to mind. BUT, the food was on point. My husband ordered a full rack of ribs and an order of onion rings that we shared. He was completely focused on his food and enjoyed every last bite! I ordered the pulled pork sliders ~ 3 sliders served on soft & fluffy (Hawaiian?) rolls with a generous amount of meat in each one. The pork was tender and flavorful and came with a cup of BBQ sauce for dipping. I chose the baked beans for my side. The onion rings were a good size portion and were my favorite part of the meal. I tried Big B's Barbecue for the first time on Fri, 5/19/2023 for lunch with my coworkers. Customer Service: It took a while for the waitress to get to us after we were seated. It also took the food a while to get to us. The waitress had some recommendations for food, but she wasn't too attentive or checked in with us too much throughout our meal. One good thing is that the sauces were self-serve on the side so you can grab them yourself. Food: ++BBQ Pork Sandwich - Thinly Sliced tenderloin pork served on a French roll w/ pickles and onion + includes a side (mac salad) $13.45 - I was disappointed in my sandwich. The sliced tenderloin was tasty, not dry but the bread itself was a little dry. The size was not that big. - The Mac Salad was also very mediocre and a bit bland. Nothing about it stood out and I was quite disappointed since I should have gotten something else like cole slaw or fries that would have better complemented the sandwich. -I also thought this meal was a little pricey for what you get. Like although you get a side with your sandwich, both portions are not that big, to begin with. I also would not consider myself able to stomach huge portions, but yeah I wasn't that full after finishing my meal. Environment: Basically a bro's bar. Lots of CSU Fullerton decor, various Hollywood and sports trinkets. Although every inch of the walls was covered, everything worked and added to the restaurant's character. You could see where the owner's passions/interests lie and it's pretty cool to see it in person. They have good hours. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 9pm. Slightly different times on the weekends. You can get it served next door at Brian's while you enjoy a drink. They get to you pretty quick and you are served within 10-12 minutes of ordering. I had the ribs lunch (under $20) and it came with a side. The Baby back ribs were tasty and tender. The potato salad was good also. The bbq sauce was right on as well. I had to request that my table be wiped clean, as this was my only negative. Big B's Barbecue is one of the best places! Such a great small business to go to! I first had it when they catered an event at the Downtown Fullerton train station. The ribs fell off the bone and they were so good. Also, the owner of the restaurant, Brian, was there. He was so nice and friendly to everyone. I still remembered their food and came back to their location in Fullerton, near the Albertsons. It has a pub vibe, but there is now outdoor seating under tents. It was still as good as I remembered it. If there is any critique, the BBQ sauce is a little tangier than I like, but nothing some sugar I put on it can't fix! I will definitely be back! read more

What rating should i give this time? hmmm Lets see. The food: There is nothing disappointing about the food. For the pricing, the portion is adequate. The chicken? 7.5/10 the bbq flavor is at a good level and piquancy. I just wish the meat is bit more tender. The ribs is a solid 8.5/10. tenderness of the meat is a solid level. I can pull the ribs apart with ease! The flavor? the sweat, salty and bbq sauce is a straight smack on my tongue. Side dish: 6.8/10 The fries were soft by the time i got home. Granted, i ordered take out and i am pretty much the last customer of the night. The bread tasted like store bought bread. The coleslaw and macaroni salad are average. Not bad, not special Service 9/10. I placed my order over the phone. The process was smooth and easy. I got to the store about 15 mins before closing and my order was waiting for me. This place has the best BBQ in town. It's a great homestyle cooked meal. Their BBQ ribs are so juicy and the meat slides off the bone. Loved the pulled pork sandwich and all the delicious sides. OK, I'm a believer that not everything is always perfect so I will try again another time but stopped by today and got the chicken and rib combo and an order of onion rings . Comes with two small sides and I asked if I could upgrade one to a larger size which I was told no. I told her I would have no problem paying the difference of course and she said that she couldn't do that so that's fine. Coleslaw and baked beans were very very good. Onion rings were absolutely amazing as well. The quarter chicken was a very small drumstick with thigh attached. OK I get it. No worries. Ribs were four bones. Chicken and ribs were good, not the best but good nevertheless. My problem comes that this order ended up costing me $41. $41 is more than I pay at Lucille's and I thought Lucille was expensive. OK, I get expensive as well, it's a different world. But the workers (two girls and one guy at the grill) acted as if I wasn't even there. Never asked if everything was OK seem to be bothered when I asked about upgrading the coleslaw and then when I cleaned up my table threw everything in the trashcan which is 2 feet away from where the girls were standing ,, nobody even said thank you ,have a great day or anything. Staff , work on your Customer service . You probably shouldn't be having a very involved conversation about your "previous life" and not able to address your customers. By the way, the only customers in the two table dining room. Sadly, my two star rating does not come due to the food, but more to the entire experience. Tonight we were jonesin' for delicious ribs and chicken. We found Big B's and called in an order for a family pack that included a whole chicken, a full rack of baby backs, three large sides, rolls and sauce. We drove out from Yorba Linda and were not disappointed. The ribs were crispy, tender, juicy and flavorful. The chicken juicy, smokey and delicious. We loved the potato salad and homestyle beans. Everything homemade. When I came in to pick up, the cashier and employees were so grateful and kind. Please support this terrific restaurant. There were a group of friends sitting in the parking lot eating take out from the restaurant in lawn chairs, all six feet apart, clearly they enjoyed their fave bbq spot too. read more
