I'm finding it hard to believe We're in heaven Small Chicken Skewer Plate from #AlohaHawaiianGrill
    Mojo S.

I'm a person who usually likes Hawaiian plate lunches. There's something so satisfying about their bbq chicken, bbq pork, and especially the beef ribs. I do have some caveats though. I've never been a fan of the cold mac, I like eating most of it with a decent pair of cheap wooden chopsticks, and I love my rice to be relatively dry in the customary scoops. Wet rice really kills the experience. That's why Aloha kind of fell short for me. They removed the mac, but they didn't seem to replace it with the commensurate amount of rice I asked for. And instead of the scoops of rice off to the side like the menu picture, they laid a flat bed of rice and on top of that put the bbq chicken skewers before drenching everything in teriyaki sauce. The result? Super wet rice. And of course they don't carry chopsticks. Are they all small things? Sure. But these small things make the meal for me, especially at the prices Aloha is charging. All I know is for $2 more than what a small plate casts at Aloha I can get a large chicken and beef plate, the rice maybe moistened but definitely not drenched in sauce and often more rice than I need, and a pair of chopsticks waiting for me. Plus, everything just tastes better there. The service at Aloha was okay, but it was very brusque and you definitely don't get anyone asking you how everything is. When I left every employee was huddled in the back with no one up front I guess until a new party of customers comes in. The ambiance was only so-so too. It's kind of small. They only had a few booths and not enough tables for solo or two-person parties. It all felt very catered to getting larger 4 and 6 person tables, which is a shame for folks just wanting to stop in for a quick bite on their own. The food wasn't bad. Nobody is featuring skewers at Hawaiian joints. But even with that it's hard for me to recommend this place over other options in the area.

Oh man, was I bummed to see Mr. Katsu go. However, I love Hawaiian Barbeque so I'm glad this replaced it and was excited to try it! My first and last visit was on May 14th which was a Thursday. I arrived a few minutes after 11 AM to give them enough time to be ready. Here's what I ordered: **BBQ Chicken & Katsu Plate: Delicious! Chicken was cooked to perfection and the katsu was as well. The chicken was unbelievably amazing. The sauce for the chicken was good but I wish the katsu sauce was a little bit thicker. The rice was cooked well and the mac salad was pretty good as well. (5/5) **Chicken Skewer: The chicken was cooked well but the flavors lacked depth. Fairly small pieces but considering it's $2.50, it's not entirely bad. (3/5) The girl working at the register lacked basic customer service. As I was ordering, she replied by saying "What?" You never tell a customer what because it just sounds plain rude. There was nothing special about the interaction and I felt like I had to talk really slow for her to understand. Also, the cashier and the cook were incredibly busy talking so loud that I wasn't sure if I was gonna get my food within a timely matter or not. I think I got my food around the 12 to 15 minute mark so it wasn't the worst. Also, as soon as I entered, the health inspector decided to arrive the same day as well. There was one big issue that the health inspector addressed - the pipes for the sink in the front of house. When the inspector asked how they're washing their hands with the sink being inoperable, their response was "We're not." As a former food service worker, it's very important to wash your hands up front after every task and/or customer depending how busy it is especially if you're handling cash with or without gloves. That interaction alone grossed me out. One last note before my final verdict - There was a table with sauces, sauce cups, napkins, and utensils available to grab. The sauce bottles were disgustingly sticky with the caps needing to be forced open. This is extra disgusting considering I was the FIRST CUSTOMER IN FOR THE DAY. Do you not clean your sauce bottles at night or in the morning? That has to be some sort of violation because that means that when people are trying to get the cap off, some may also touch the spout the sauce comes out of. The food alone would make this a 5 star review. With the service being lackluster, it could've been a 4 star review. Unfortunately, I have to give this place 3 stars for my first visit because of the issues stated above. Damn good Hawaiian BBQ but too bad everything else was meh. I miss Mr. Katsu because not only was the food good, the service was always good even after they changed ownership, and everything was thoroughly cleaned throughout the day.

Was craving some chicken katsu & so glad Aloha popped up!!! It was so crispy & fresh wow the bbq beef was super tender & juicy. The spam musubi is delicious. Staff was very friendly. You can tell they put their heart into the food. Definitely will be back to try more.

There's some good and bad. I got the #1 bbq chicken and it was a decent portion size. They give you three big pieces and the little plastic knife comes in handy to cut the chicken into smaller pieces. Cost was around $19, so it seems similar or a little bit more expensive than the other Hawaiian places, but again, the portion size is pretty big. I didn't like the macaroni salad as much as other places. Other places are a lot creamier, but this one needed a little more flavor. The chicken and cabbage also needed a little more flavor, and I had to put a lot of sriracha and sauce on it to give it a little more flavor. However, it was grilled pretty well and wasn't burned like some other places do it sometimes. Overall, I thought it was ok. Worker was nice and place was clean. Food took about 10 minutes, so it is made to order. Lots of Hawaiian food places to choose from, but this place should do if you're craving some.

Aloha Hawaiian Grill was amazing! The food was very flavorful and delicious. The service was great because the staff were very helpful and friendly. I absolutely loved the decor, especially the thatch roofs and the colorful bamboo painted walls. I would recommend this restaurant if you want delicious Hawaiian BBQ food!

i heard this place was pretty new so i wanted to try it when i was in the area. i ended up getting chicken katsu and for a 13$ plate you get two scoops of rice and so much chicken you have to rubber band it. Marely was nice and the wait time was pretty short, and the store was pretty well kept. would come here again if i'm in the area and craving hawaiian

On behalf of CHOC Hospital, we would like to sincerely thank Aloha Hawaiian BBQ for such a wonderful catering experience. The food was absolutely delicious and truly enjoyed by everyone--each dish was flavorful, fresh, and brought our lunch gathering to life. Communication with Jae was excellent from start to finish. He was very responsive, professional, and incredibly accommodating, making the entire process seamless. Aloha Hawaiian BBQ went above and beyond to cater to our specific needs, and their flexibility and attention to detail did not go unnoticed. The amazing food and outstanding service turned our lunch into a delightful experience, and we received so many positive comments from our team. We highly recommend Aloha Hawaiian BBQ and look forward to working with them again in the future!

This place has so much yummy food. All of the Hawaiian basics; chicken katsu, bbq beef & chicken, loco moco, spam musubi, are all delicious. They even have ramyeon and skewers. Fresh and cooked to order so be patient. HUGE portions too! The staff is also very nice and accommodating and I love the festive decor.

The beef ribs were really good, big and properly cooked, the kind of meat you actually talk about on the way home. The galbi was right there with them, savory and satisfying, and between the two we were set. The kids loved the spam musubi. That alone would have made the stop worth it for us. Spam musubi is one of those things that either works for kids or turns into a negotiation, and here there was no negotiation. They were happy, which meant the adults got to eat in peace for a minute. Dessert sealed it. They have a version of Dole Whip that tastes just like Disneyland. I am not being cute about that. Same soft, cold, pineapple hit you remember from the park, which is a wild thing to get after a plate of ribs in Anaheim. We finished full and already half-planning the next visit. One caveat: it was really smoky inside. Enough that I noticed it the whole meal. If I could give 4.5 I would, but I'm rounding up because the food was that good. Portions felt solid for a plate-lunch place, the vibe was casual and family-friendly, and nothing about the meal felt fussy. If you want Hawaiian-style BBQ with kids in tow, this is still an easy yes. Five stars.

Ordered the kalbi BBQ plate with rice and mac salad, plus an extra mac because I usually like 2 mac + 1 rice. Definitely not how Hawaiian mac salad should taste, and I was even more annoyed that I paid for extra. The kalbi was decent but got way too fatty as I ate. I was happy they topped it with green onions (flavor was good) 7/10. They also didn't have a teriyaki/soy glaze or house brown sauce, which was disappointing. I tried the katsu sauce instead and that was easily a 9/10. Customer service was decent. Overall, not terrible, but not necessarily great either.
