It still gets hot on hot days so it will still hurt/burn your feet if you don't normally walk barefoot like I do. But, simply get the hose out and slight spray the turf if you have it in the backyard and walk in it. It definitely does not get as hot as the market brands do since the backing is pink and not black like the market brands. All you need is a Turf Rake, which I have, but, I had 2/3 of my yard done so I bought one of those turf Combs/Brushes. I don't need it yet the turf looks AMAZING after I run the comb over it. They absolutely 100% lay the turf a specific way, toward your house. That way when you look out the window(s) it seriously looks as there's dew on it and that beautiful look when u get up in the morning. Also, it's laid that way so the reflection does not go towards your home. That would be brutal. These guys are brilliant. The man who did my yard, Chilo, was so good that when he got done during the 98* heat he did NOT have sweat dripping off him. He's damn good and in shape as that is hard work. He supervises everything. Don't look over workers shoulders, yet, watch them work and how they do things and you will see how great these guys are at Big Bully. Honestly disappointed. It's been almost a year later. The product looks great but I'm noticing a lot of shedding, especially around the edges of the artificial turf. I'm getting an estimate this week to replace the artificial turf we installed last year in our backyard ... it's unbeara-bly hot from early summer until autumn, even my dogs avoid using it to go potty, which creates another messy problem that has to be addressed daily. And he tells me this is with 25% off but since it's Cinco de Mayo he'll give me 35% off if I put a down pyt that day. This kind of car salesman hustle practice is such a con. Original sales consult was great, and the install was done very quickly. Grass looks great, and family loves it. We were told to cover 3 windows to prevent sun damnage, which was completed within 2 business days of initial install. Unfortunately within a few months the tuft got burn marks. We reached out to warranty and a couple months later we have had the turf replaced. Took a bit of back and forth, and we were not thrilled at the beginning of this report. I like the concept of this company and the product is high grade. Only complaint I've got at this point is the timing on warranty getting back to us and communication from install team. No idea when they will show up, and they leave for hours on end, then return without even ringing the bell. Very difficult to coordinate dogs. Yard looks great now. read more

It's been 3 weeks since this was installed, and we love it more each day! Every day I'm reminded of the quality I paid for when I went with Big Bully Turf. We had an existing paver patio, and they added turf with paver edging and an 11x11 paver island. They also added decomposed granite on the side of the house for a dog run. They weren't the cheapest but you can see why in the workmanship in the perfectly level island and and customer service. I can't say enough good things about Brian and the crew (including Gio and Adante), they each gave us a VIP experience. read more

Do not use this company. They charged us for wired lights in our putting green. When we signed off (during the daylight hours) they said everything work and the lights would come on at night. Come to find out they didn't even hook them up. They then offered to credit us over $600 until they found some cheap battery operated lights on Amazon for $12 a piece and said they would credit us that amount. I would honestly say our experience with big bully turf was a bit rough to say the least. Be warned that the sales department is great but after that, it falls downhill. I think we maybe talked to our project coordinator once and he seemed almost irritated that he had made contact with us. After that we never saw him again. The first deliverable of our project was not epic at all. Even after communicating with the gentleman doing the work, they put in our putting green like nothing we discussed. After communicating with said project manager about our dislikes he actually seemed defensive which was weird to us. They assigned a new PM to us and he agreed the project looked pretty bad and we were excited that he was going to help us clean it up. Optimism right! Unfortunately all of our optimism was extinguished quickly. He constantly would commit to sending a crew out and we made arrangements to be home. However, after three commitments they no showed. Our project started in October and didn't get "finished" until after the new year. We are happy with our new yard but not thrilled. It does look good but at this point we just settled. Just be cautious friends. The customer service after the salesmen is pretty atrocious. read more

Just had a small area of turf replaced in my backyard. Crew did a nice job overall. However, it would have been good for them to ask me before they hacked a bunch of plants and palm fronds to make it easier for them to install new turf. They also told us their install would have three layers of substrate to catch the pet urine, water, etc. Turns out they don't do that and instead only have limestone sand underneath. Hopefully will do the job. Lots of people contact you during the project but would be good for them all to be on the same page. read more

Would have been 5 starts but had some major issues I could not over look for the price that I paid. Now the quality of the turf is top notch no doubt about that and the work was done quickly and efficiently and the workers were great. My issue was when the gentleman came to give me my quote he said they would remove all the rocks and get rid of them but they didn't do that all they did was pile up the areas that didn't have turf with more rocks, now I have to find someone to get rid of all the excess rocks that were left. He also said they would add a drain on the side of my home where water would drain and that did not happen. Then the gentleman who quoted me said he would be here when they started the work but he was never here so I was never able to express my concerns with him. Also the timelines he gave me for when someone to schedule would call was off, I had to reach out myself to get an update on the install date. I could have gone with another company for much less money but the gentleman sold me on their service and quality, I was left highly disappointed with their service, but I can't deny the quality of how it looks. It's almost like you pay them such a high amount and never hear from anyone again except for those generic text messages. When BBT's representative visited, we received the estimate, I told him we had other companies to talk to. The rep asked which companies and I told him. When I mentioned Rock N Block, he said we are partnering with them. I though it was strange, but thought great - maybe they will offer the same pricing and there would be no competion. The quality of their work is good and their prices are on average of what others quoted. The problem I ran into was a lack of communication. I ultimately went with Big Bully because of the stellar reviews from here on Yelp and they were offering 12months no interest payments. That was just the start of my less than spectacular experience. The application process was very smooth and I was approved in minutes. I was told by my sales representative that I would get an email to activate my account when he finalized my project at the office that afternoon. The email never came and the corporate office in San Diego was calling me the next day to tell me I needed to activate my credit account or risk losing my installation date. I checked every folder and confirmed the email address used. I finally just went to the website and submitted my information with my email and project number and got my account activated. It showed my account and project amount authorized to Big Bully and I thought I was good. Two days later corporate was calling me back telling me they were going to have to postpone my installation date because I didn't activate my account. I was confused and they just kept telling me to activate my account. Finally I was put on hold and a guy who said he was a manager came on and proceeded to tell me again and again I needed to activate my account. In the meantime my sales rep texted me a link while I was still talking to the manager,which I clicked, and it said "congratulations your account is activated". Why wasn't that done two days prior?! After that I didn't hear anything for the next two weeks as I waited for my install date. The day before I reached out to my sales rep and asked if everything was still on schedule because the materials the I was told would be delivered to my house the day before the install had not arrived. He assured me everything was fine and my material would be delivered the next morning with the crew. The next morning the crew arrived and demoed my backyard in preparation. It took them all of 45min and then they were gone. Three hours later a dump truck came and dropped the backfill in front of my house. Two guys showed up an hour after that and worked for about 30min and then went on lunch. Another hour of work after lunch and everything went quiet again. I went to bed about 3pm before my night shift and when I woke up at 630pm my wife asked me why they didn't finish. I texted my salesman and went to work. He replied back at 1130pm and apologized and said the turf supplier put the wrong date for delivery and they would have the turf the next morning and the "supplier admitted it was their fault" and now they were going to have to "waste another day that they could be installing another project ". Also that he had been out to my project twice that day and "saw the same thing as me". Ok so why wasn't I kept in the loop? Nothing! ...so I am sure if this was all the truth I'm sure big bully was compensated from the supplier for the lost time. If it is not the truth then big bully just let my project slip their mind and I was the ""fill in project"". Either way my project was finished two days ago and I still haven't heard anything from them one way or the other if I approved of the work or if I had any questions or other issues. Radio silence. The only thing that told me they were done with me is the financial company emailed me a link to approve final payment to them as big bully told them they were done. I know this is long winded and if you made it this far congratulations. Overall I would recommend this company just for the quality of the work. But their communication is subpar. Edit: The irony that the business owner replied back to this lack of communication review telling me to contact THEM at a general office number is not lost on me. I have three small dogs who are use to pissing on the grass. In less than two months I cannot sit on my back patio without the whiff of dog urine. To test how hot the turf gets, I took my shoe off to see how hot the turf gets (going on the ads the "pink" underside is cooler) to the feet. We'll tell that to my feet let along my dogs' paws. I'm not even going to get into the installation problems or their lack of returning calls. My words to you are buy at your own risk and don't believe the hype.
