Well, chill IS in the name. Great music in this small quirky favorite spot. Plenty of locals. With a pub license, 21 and up only, food is from a food truck (or bring something from a nearby eatery). Sporting a few local brews on tap, the mixed drinks feature the crushes and margaritas but nothing weird and fluffy or smoky. The waitstaff hustle the drinks, just go to the bar and order. Open air places are popular with the smokers and it's easy to mingle between spaces. Tiny parking lot, so extra spots are across the road behind Pat's. read more

This is a bar, I like to frequent for cocktails before going out to do other things in Rehoboth. The Ambiance is very cute and they decorated for Christmas. The service is very good and they make the best drinks. The drinks aren't watered down, you get what you pay for! Food can be brought in, but not to crazy in other words not a full course meal. Food is available next store at the BBQ place, you can place your order and theyll bring it in for you! Great place to go for Trivia night! read more

Service was great but certain employees including bartenders and securities are overly aggressive and or drunk behind the bar making it a not so chill, The management allows its employees to behave in a unprofessional manner that includes being hands on threatening and empowering to its customers. Numerous times the bouncers have threatened to fight and or be violent with customers and it makes for an unwanted time out. read more

My family and I traveled to the Deleware shore with our dog. We were very happy to see so many planes being dog friendly. Big Chill Surf Cantina went the extra mile to make our dog feel welcome and just as important as us! So many stafff members approached and asked to pet our dog. You can tell everyone is super chill there and welcoming. The food truck, Reho Taco was excellent quality and presentation. Get the loaded fries! A Chill ass spot. For adults. Dogs allowed. There were some large games to play (Jenga, Connect 4 etc.) No food here, but there was a popular food truck right on the lot (which was sooo good!!) . Drinks were reasonably priced. Good 90s music. Great time! Come here! read more

This is an awesome bar! It is warm, well decorated, a great space to hangout inside and out, and they make a pretty earnest attempt to provide good food considering the limited resources at their disposal. First, the bar is awesome. The kind of place you want to hang out. Plenty of stools, some tables, a comfortable sitting area and games to enjoy. Decorated with signs, boards, bumpers and surf memorabilia. Then, if you go outside, you find two gorgeous sitting areas that also have plenty of greenery, space to sit, and comfortable seating. You can easily forget that the bar is right next to route 1. The bar is 5 stars (they also have a solid list of good local music entertainment) and the food is 3 stars, although they are making a really good attempt, considering everything is prepared by the bartender in a small space. I had 4 small things, I'll go over them briefly... The tacos are about $4 each and served on a small flour tortilla. They are kind of small for the price and don't come with anything but a small amount of toppings. They could even top these out with more cabbage, salsa, a lime, some chips, etc. that would make them seem more filling and worth $4. The pulled pork taco was awesome. Up there with the best smoked pulled pork BBQ that I have had. Really good flavor. The fish taco was a solid attempt, but was a bit bland. I guess that is good for fish (it was NOT fishy! nor fried) but didn't have a lot of flavor. More spices or condiments would kick this up. All that said, the fact that you can get some fresh made unique tacos after a day at the beach and enjoy them with an ice cold Pacifico? That's solid. Nicely done. I also got a small plate of chips and guacamole. The guac sucked. No way to sugar coat that. It was smooth instead of chunky and didn't have a lot of flavor. It tasted like mass produced quac you'd get from a jar, but I suspect it was just made in a food processor or blender. More salt and lime would do wonders...and some avocado chunks, but maybe that's just my preference. Not worth the price, try the salsa out. The chips were unique. Crisp but not crunchy. A change from what you usually get so that made it nice. A little more oily than your average chip, though. Anyway, it is the kind of place you want to hang out and wish you had closer to home. I will most definitely be back. Give it a try! read more

The place has a very chill vibe. Definitely a neighborhood spot, everyone knew each other. Drinks were good and it was dog friendly. Bartenders were ok, not super friendly. The reason my 2 stars, me and my wife order 3 drinks each, I paid the bill without looking because the price seemed reasonable. When I get home I look at the receipt and I was charged for 8 drinks. It could of been an honestly mistake and maybe shame on me for not Looking at the bill before paying. Something seemed off, maybe the bartenders sensed a non-local and decided to put some local's drinks on my tap. read more

Super chill outside patio with a beer pong table? Yes please! We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to grab a beer and relax on their huge outside patio. I must say the big selling point is the fire pit with comfy rattan chairs. They have a number of beers on tap, and a few by the bottle too. The bartender was very friendly and laid back. The only drawback going here is the lack of food as we really wanted a burrito or taco, and it seemed like they served food from the outside...I guess a taco truck is usually parked outside, but it wasn't around when we were there on Saturday afternoon. Oh, and before I forget, there are a couple of large flat screen TVs making Big Chill a good football watching destination. read more

Honestly chill spot- good margs, but my experience was soured by how, who I believe was the manager of the night, handled a situation: My girlfriend and I arrive and ordered a few drinks prior to the others in our party (around 9 others) showed up. We paid and settled our bill, but when our other group members arrive, one decides to buy a round of drinks for everyone. We were the last of our group to put in our order (we shared a marg) and when everyone else received theirs, we did not. We went inside and asked the guy (manager I believe) who took our order in the first place about our drink and he gave off the vibe that we were just looking to get a free drink. He said there were 5 or 6 total, and we were like yeah but we never received ours. He then proceeds to go outside and ask/count everyone's drink and figured out he missed one (ours). He doesn't apologize, but then comes back and hands us the drink and openly asks the guy who bought the round, in front of everyone, if he wanted to charge the drink and close or keep a tab. 1) I felt this was his bad for forgetting our drink when we straight up ordered it in person with him 2) when you mess up be a little more gracious and since it was his bad just let it go, but no, he decides to make a scene about it all with no apology to us and when he comes back around to ask about a second round, we were yet again, forgotten. At that point we left it alone and decided to say goodbye to everyone. All in all, chill place, but that experience really rubbed me the wrong way. Our first waitress we had before the rest of our group came was lovely but this guy just really ruined my impression of the place. I felt judged and treated unfairly for something that was a simple mistake on their end. read more

Went to this place with friends. The atmosphere was very nice. It was a perfect day and we sat outside on the deck. The exterior seating was bench style with huge umbrellas for shading. The benches seat up to 10. So, if you're seated with a small group you may have to share your table. The menu was limited. I suppose appropriate for the style of restaurant. Very fast foodish. The severs were very nice but the food took forever to come. I give 3 stars for the atmosphere, scenery, and wait staff service. read more

One of my favorites... great locals spot. Drinks are awesome, bartenders are friendly, atmosphere is cozy & relaxed. They have some games to pass the time (giant jenga, connect four, chess). They have some great live music year-round. Love catching Lower Case Blues playing there on Tuesday nights! Cantina doesn't serve food, but typically has the Taco Reho food truck right in the parking lot.. or you can order any type of delivery food & eat it there. read more

Very disappointing. My first time here, though I've driven past many times and had high hopes. We ordered two orange crushes. One had all the alcohol in it, the other had very little. Next time bartender, mix them like, a little. How about a minimal level of effort for two $9 drinks? We started our meal with the crab dip, which the menu said would be served "piping hot". It wasn't. It was tasty, but small. The "small and cold" theme continued, unfortunately, with the mahi tacos I ordered. The fish wasn't even a little warm. Was this made some time earlier and served to me directly from the refrigerator? It tasted like it. The two tacos were "street taco" sized, laughably small for an entree dish that costed $14.95. I could, and often do, get MUCH better fish tacos at any of the nearby Fins restaurants for $8 during happy hour. My dining partner's shrimp wrap was also disappointing. The only thing this place has going for it is the view, which is spectacular. But since you are going to pay to park here anyway, skip the restaurant, pack a lunch, and head straight to the beach. read more

I am a local and have been going to the cantina since it's opening. This evening my dog knocked my second twisted tea bottle out of my hand. After I ask Crissy or Christina she' has dark hair with a very boyish figure what happen and after I offered to clean up the drop bottle and glass shards which I was a server and bar back for many years seemed appropriate. When I went to order a new twisted tea to replace the last one broken from my dog pulling on his lease she demanded that I paid my tab before she would continue to serve me anymore. I have been a patron of cantina since it's opened and have always paid up and tipped well. For me being a local and the way that I was treated for a place that I go regularly this is just simply absurd. Think twice if you want to go to the big surf cantina chill to chill. Best margaritas and mixed drinks at the beach. Laid back, tiki-bar style bar. Nice, friendly staff. I loved the cherry lime crush and the skinny marg. They know how to balance booze and flavor, which can make it dangerous if you can knock back mixed drinks easily. They have a wide selection of craft beer here too. Only wish the location was better as this struck me as a hole-in-the-wall (I've been coming to Rehoboth for decades and this was the first time I've been here). Would recommend and would return. Located on Route 1 on the way in to Rehoboth and Dewey beaches. Came here when they first opened years ago. Thought it was a cool little bar. They now have an outdoor bar, patio, and live music, and I love this place. You must try a grapefruit crush. Perfect drink on a warm day at the beach. read more

This place is awesome!! We came for drinks after dinner on a Saturday night. The staff and people at the bar were very friendly, the outside seating area was amazing, and there is a beer pong table which is just cool! The vibe is laid back and it wasnt super crowded even though it was Saturday of Labor Day weekend. And once you are inside you would have no idea that it was right off of Rt 1! Another plus is they have their own parking lot so no searching for parking. We didn't get to stay that long because the people we were with had to pick up their daughter and her friend from the fun plex, but if I was local I would go here all the time! I will be back anytime we get down to the beach and can find a babysitter! read more

It's a shame. We've been here dozens of times over the past few years and honestly it was one of our favorite places to go especially considering the dog friendly atmosphere. However, that all changed when they decided to put disrespectful bouncers at the door that feel the need to yell at customers as they approach the door or, at best, talk/treat you like trash as you show an ID. This USED to be an extremely friendly and relaxed environment. I don't like writing negative reviews, particularly when it has nothing to do with the quality of the drinks or service of the wait staff, but Cantina would be doing themselves a huge disservice by not reevaluating the individuals they have at the door. For newcomers, first impressions are everything and after having several encounters with the extremely rude doormen I don't think we'll be returning. read more

Best burritos EVER from the taco truck that now supplies the food for the cantina. What a great partnership for drinks , food and atmosphere.
