Since having Rosenberg's next door, I now have really high standards and this bagel is okay. Their fillings are really good though. The 14er: sprouts, ham, sun-dried tomato spread and spicy Mexican cream cheese was a great combination. And my hubby loves their green olive cream cheese. But their bagels are okay, not much to them. They are nice and crispy on the outside, but not much bagel in the the inside. A good spot to go before hiking toward the Golden or Boulder area. read more

Great bagels! The best I've had in Colorado for sure. Not a 5 star because "as good as it gets" is in NYC;) We stopped here last Friday morning before heading up to the mountains. I was starving and got a salt bagel with butter and raspberry jam. And I had a half of an italiano with cream cheese and tomato. DELICIOUS! Bagels were fresh and crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. I also appreciated that they have organic coffee. It was a little weaker than I like but still good. The hubby had a breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese and really liked it as well. We spent close to $20 but got breakfast and lunch to take on the slopes. Just a bagel with cream cheese and coffee is about $3.75. We will make this a regular stop on our way to the mountains for sure! read more

Anyone who has every spoken to me knows that my only regret in moving out west has been the serious lake of a decent bagel sandwich. We have breakfast burritos coming out our ears, but no one can put some breakfast food on a bagel and make it edible? What's with that? I recently moved in pretty close to Big Daddy Bagels, and I obviously made a good choice in location. Finally - someone west of the Mississippi who can make a bagel! They are the perfect consistency. But even more important than that, they understand that when making an egg sandwich, the egg to cheese to bacon ratio is important, and they totally get it right. The quality of a good coffee shop can easily be accessed by its drip coffee. Oh Big Daddy, come to Mama with that Snickerdoodle coffee. I have been in here every flippin' day since I moved to Golden. I haven't even been able to try a "fancy" coffee yet because the drip is so good I can't get enough of it. The price for Organic, Locally sourced coffee is GREAT!! They also have a coffee club (if you are going to frequent this joint, do yourself a favor and join) and you get free coffee on Mondays. FREE! The bagels are awesome! Never hard, never too thick...juuuuust right. The real prize here, though, is the staff. Super friendly and nice. Also, I have been coming in here and working for several hours each day and no one has ever questioned it at all...they let me do my thing in peace and I really appreciate that. They ALSO have great music playing all the time. This is a hidden gem in Golden and I LOVE that it's just up the street from me. Cool spot for breakfast. There are quite a few sandwich options and unique bagels you may have never seen (Parmesan?) I really liked the 14er sandwich on everything; ham, mex sauce, pepper spread, and alfalfa sprouts, it was pretty great. The bagels aren't anything like NJ/NY bagels, but they were alright. They also have alot of coffee options, more so than most bagel shops I've been to....AND you can order pizza after 11AM! read more

Not sure what's going on today, but all the staff has been super rude. It's taken a half-hour to get a standard breakfast burrito, even though it's not that busy, and there's not been a single smile, apology, or hint of sense of humor from anyone working here while we patiently waited, even though their system obviously failed somewhere. The woman who took our order was rude, too. We won't be back, which is a shame by his place could be so good. read more

I'm a big fan of bagels and espresso for breakfast so I really want to like this place. The bagels are pretty good. The shots of espresso are made with very dark roasted coffee and while they probably taste fine in a mixed coffee drink, they're not 'third wave' if that's what you're looking for. Way too burnt for my tastes. Service and attitude are hit or miss. Sometimes the staff is super friendly and my order is prepared quickly. Other times it takes 8-10 minutes for a bagel and coffee and you'd think everyone hated their job. YMMV read more

Last three bacon egg and cheese bagels all had raw bacon and no seasoning. Tasted horrible and bland with no flavor. They didn't put salt and pepper or hot sauce as ordered. Employees have a very condesending attitude. Pizza is reheated and they just sprinkle new cheese on old dried out cheese then heat it on the oven for 5 minutes and serve it. Not good read more

Went there the other day and it was quite busy for a Wednesday afternoon. It took about 15 minutes for us to get bagel sandwiches and a iced Latte. They only had 3 people working so I'm assuming they weren't expecting that. I'll start out by saying that I've been coming to this place since they opened however many years ago that was. I come here because the food is basically good, and I live in the neighborhood across the highway, making it very convenient. Those are the two reasons why I come here. Oh, and my order every time is easy enough for them to get basically right. The real problem here, is the customer service. I've worked in customer service my whole life, I understand how easy it is to act friendly to a customer, even if you're having a rough day. Every time I go into this restaurant I feel like I'm either greeted by empty glares, or nothing at all. Today it took 5 minutes for someone to even come to the counter and acknowledge my existence, let alone take my order. I've ordered smoothies here, where instead of bringing them to my table when they're ready, they yell or wave at me to get my attention to come get the smoothies from them. Seriously. Both of those things have actually happened. The employees here are lazy, uninterested, and, frankly, could be replaced by dogs with better customer service than them. If the owner of this restaurant saw the way they act around customers, I would hope he or she would be appalled. That said, the food is actually very good though. read more

After waiting 20 minutes for a plain toasted bagel with cream cheese I was only halfway to the register in line and when they called my name they refused to give me the bagel until I reached the register. Finally i reached the front of the line and they had given my bagel away to someone else so I had to wait another ten minutes for my under toasted very mediocre food. My boyfriend and I are both from the east coast and we have been looking for good pizza in Colorado for 20 years...this place has the best pizza in Colorado!!!! AMAZING!!! Like Boardwalk pizza!! Slices are huge, crust is thin and tasty!! Seriously the best pizza in town!! Sauce is Amazing....I can't wait to go back and try there bagels!! Seriously tastes like they have the water flown in!! Have to downgrade my review a bit. The bagels are still great but the quality of the service (and it seems to be an ever rotating crew of employees) is quite inconsistent, and generally not very good. Some of them are sooooooooo slow, or can't remember a thing you said. Some give you way too much cream cheese, some give you way too little. One guy didn't bother to ask for clarification when my husband asked for lox when he meant lox spread. Who gets just lox on a bagel? Every once in a while I have a good customer service experience, and it's enough to keep me coming back, but usually when I do I say to myself, "why do I bother coming here again?" read more

My whole family was in town visiting my brother and we needed a good breakfast/lunch before hike 2 of the day! We ordered three bagels with the gourmet cream cheeses. Loved them! (low-fat strawberry on a blueberry bagel, green olive on a marbled bagel and sun-dried tomato on an everything bagel) We also ordered one of the new pizzas - it was SO GOOD! I got an Oregon Chai to go - I thought it was a really good Chai (way better than starbucks!). Lastly, all of the employees were really friendly - that's quite refreshing for a morning visit. Good sandwich, if you are willing to wait... Went in on 3/1/13, in the evening, asked if they had pizza by the slice, which they do not in the evening, OK, so I ordered a sandwich instead to save time, since I really didn't have 20 mins to wait for a whole pie. Some twenty-something brunette took my order, asked if I wanted the sandwich hot, I said yes, and she promptly disappears in the back- to heat up my sandwich, perhaps? After about 10 minutes, a male employee appears and tells me that my pizza will be ready soon, so I tell him I didn't order a pizza, and he apologizes, then proceeds to make my sandwich... don't know where the original girl went, probably out backing smoking weed or something. She did finally come out of the back, and of course did not offer an apology or any explanation. All in all, I was probably there over 20 minutes, I should have just ordered a pizza, it wouldn't have taken as long! The guy that ended up making my sandwich was fine, very apologetic, but come on!!! How hard is it to make a sandwich??!! The sandwich was OK, not anything special, and honestly I was so disgusted with the service that I didn't even really feel like eating it. Oh, and to top things off, the ONLY other customer in there was a gentleman who was waiting for a replacement pizza since the employees burned his first one... Management needs to do some serious housecleaning (and I don't mean the floors) I expect this kind of service at McDonald's, and even their service far exceeds Big Daddy Bagels on the night I visited, yikes!! Pretty standard bagel/sandwich place. I have been to other bagel places who get pretty impatient when you are indecisive but they were really friendly and helpful here. I also liked the fact that they allowed me to have my pup on the patio when I ate. Dog friendly is always a plus. I didnt try the coffee, only a bagel and cream cheese.
