Overall this place had an entitled feeling. I felt uncomfortable being there which was weird. I don't even know where to begin. The girl taking my order was rude, we didn't even get a hello. When I asked for a bag for my 6 drinks (couldn't hold them all) she told me to go ask someone else when my food was ready. It was a simple request she could have easily accommodated. There was one girl making sandwiches and plates without gloves and I repeatedly watched her touch her hair, her clothes, then reach directly into the food to plate stuff (not using the tongs like everyone else). The food looked amazing, and as a big fan of Mediterranean cuisine, I was hoping it might win my wife over (it's usually not her favorite). Unfortunately, it had the opposite effect. When we walked in, the place was buzzing--but not in a good way. We tried to sit at the only table that fit our family (me, my wife, and our 4-year-old daughter). Two staff members nearby were locked into their phones and didn't acknowledge us or clear the table. After standing around, we gave up and sat at the bar. No signs, no directions, no idea how the place works. I got in line like you would at a Chipotle or Cava, only to be redirected to a separate register. There were no menus to grab. When I asked for one, they had to turn the TV menu on with a remote. It was barebones--no pictures, vague descriptions. We ordered: Kids' chicken sandwich (somehow $25) Steak pita for me Chicken baguette sandwich for my wife One beer Total: $70+ The food? Underwhelming at best. The steak pita was doughy and undercooked, and the sauce leaked out before I even took a bite. It had three pieces of meat total. The fries were fresh-cut but soggy and lukewarm. The chicken sandwich looked nothing like the Instagram photos--definitely not worth the price. And then came the chaos. There were at least 15 to 20 staff members working--way more than necessary for a restaurant of this size. It was so overstaffed it felt like no one had a role. As my wife ordered a Blue Moon, the bartender didn't even know if the taps were working. The manager was sitting right next to the taps, doing nothing to help. My wife ended up ordering a glass of wine, and I went to grab a Modelo from the fridge myself. Then--the busboy came to pour my wife's wine, trying to offer a nice touch, and the manager swooped in and grabbed the bottle from him, publicly giving him a tutorial on how to pour wine. He poured the tiniest glass imaginable and walked off, like he was teaching a sommelier class during rush hour. To top it off, the manager decided to hold a staff meeting in the middle of the restaurant during a busy time, telling everyone: "I know you might all hate each other, but we've got a job to do. I want to go home too." The energy in the room was awkward. The staff looked checked out, embarrassed, and miserable. If you're the owner of Big Daddy Shawarma--and you care about your money--fire this manager immediately. He's killing your brand. There's no leadership, no sense of hospitality, and the entire operation feels lost. We eat out constantly, support local businesses, and rarely leave bad reviews--but this was one of the most disappointing and chaotic dining experiences we've had in years. I got a pita shawarma which came with fries and a drink. The drink was extra I think. Total $28. You pay at the counter and they give you a ticket to take to a buffet bar where they prepare the shawarma plate with some toppings of your choice. The fries were average and not even hot or crispy, kinda stale.. The meat was average. The quality of the meat was average. Service was nothing special, it's a cafeteria style place where you pick up your own food. The space was clean, but it's a brand new restaurant. I'm not sure where my money went. You can get a shawarma sandwich at any other place for half the price, even a combo for 30-40% less and better quality meat. We shall not return. The reviews regarding the restaurant being weird and uncomfortable is, unfortunately, on point. The layout of the restaurant is quite confusing since it feels like a Chipotle style which you pay after grabbing your food - but you get redirected to the cashier to pay first which isn't clear to do. The woman at the register had an off-putting attitude which sucked because she can clearly tell it was our first time and felt like pulling teeth when we were asking questions about the menu. Regarding the menu, dang the prices are steep. I would be lying if I said the food was bad (it's not), but does the price justify it? No...given there's other shawarma locations at half the price which are at the same or better quality. Customer service is definitely lacking. The staff are pushing around you which doesn't seem necessary at all given there's plenty of room in the store to go around you, not at you. One of the woman staff took up space while we were trying to pick our toppings and I couldn't even see what to pick from because she refused to scoot over. Trying to get a cup of water seemed like mission impossible because the woman at the front register and the woman running at us to grab food kept redirecting us instead of just helping us to get it themselves (one of the line staff finally went behind the kitchen and he filled up our water cups). Then I found this place Big Daddy shawarma. It took over the old Pizza Rev and oh my God is it fantastic. Everything we had was delicious the whole family enjoyed our meal. Not a single complaint. The Falafel is out of this world, the Shawarma is completely next level and the kabobs are to die for. We will be coming here on a weekly basis if not a multiple times a week basis.
