OK folks if you like pulled pork you are in for a yummy treat at Big Daddy's. I made some funny humming noises with each bite which means "I'm loving it". Fries were hot and crispy. Didn't have to wait too long and waitress was very friendly. Lots of sides to go with burgers and sandwiches. I have been a reliable customer for years. Unfortunately I have seen their quality declining over my past couple of visits. I order on line about half of the time. I placed an order on line. I received a text message that my order was ready for pick up. I was in the parking lot waiting for the text. When I went to pick up my order (It was paid for with a gift card from their establishment), I was told they were out of on of the meals I ordered. I was offered a menu to choose something else. I hadn't taken my wallet with me when I went in, so I didn't have additional funds to order something else. I asked for a refund for the meal that wasn't available. It took 25 minutes for them to figure out how to get the credit back to me! Meanwhile, the other half of my order sat on a counter getting cold. I was offered a slight apology, but it wasn't sufficient for the huge hassle and cold food. When I got home, it was very disappointing. Lesson learned not to trust on line ordering. read more

When we drove 20 minutes home and opened up our boxes we realized there was no sauce. My husband asked before he left if they put sauce in the bag and they said yes. Ate at fairview location. Would have rated 3.5. Sides were decent, chili was really good meats were slightly above ok (i.e., turkey, brisket). I asked for fattier brisket with some bark and got thin sliced from the flat that was closer to a pastrami than a Texas brisket. Overall food was decent but not what I would call good bbq. read more

Was super excited to try a new barbecue place. Ordered the 2 meat plate. Had tri-tip and brisket with garlic fries and Mac and cheese. The tri-tip and fries were good according to my boyfriend I had the brisket and Mac and cheese. The brisket was extremely salty and the Mac and cheese was ok. I had my boyfriend try both the brisket and Mac and cheese and he too said it was too salty and he thought the Mac and cheese was a little bland. I also felt like that the amount of food was barely adequate. We did order though one of the food delivery apps that may have affected the amount of food for the money. After recommendations by numerous Co-Workers, I decided to give it a try. Friday afternoon, medium size crowd inside. I order the 1/4 Ribs and the sausage. My lunch was COLD!! The ribs were clearly from the previous day and were "beef jerky " consistency. I couldn't tell if the sauce was any good because it was re heated. The sausage (the child's portion I received) was even colder and had the warmth of the previous day's leftover deli tray. The upside, my server was very friendly and the Cole Slaw was tasty. Totally disappointed, I know Hass from his radio days and know he wouldn't be happy with what the staff put out. read more

I finally got to experience Big Daddy's BBQ, for my birthday dinner. Now I used to live in Oklahoma, and I am very picky about my BBQ. I've had a hard time finding a place that I really enjoy. I really enjoyed my experience at Big Daddy's. The wait staff was great, and very accommodating to the size of our group, and the food was really good. This is a direct comparison to BBQ for Life on Vista in Boise. Overall, 4* - a wash with my go-to place. If It wasn't so much farther away, I'd happily split my BBQ time between the two. Where Big Daddy's Loses: Meat cuts. Keep in mind I am a picky picky person who does not like gristle or fatty parts, which are the parts my husband thinks are the best, so this negative for me, may well be a positive for you. While I've only been to Big Daddy's once and BBQ for life several times, I've never had a single piece of meat on my plate at BBQ for life that I couldn't eat; At Big Daddy's, I had to pick through the meat in my sandwich (50/50) before thoroughly enjoying it. Don't worry... my husband ate what I refused :) Side Salad: It was pathetic. I'll grant that most people don't go to a BBQ place expecting to eat salad, much less good salad, but this was really just a small portion of iceberg and onions with a tiny bit of cheese and tomatoes. It was boring AF. I mean... I think if you're going to put something on your menu, at least try. I guess iceberg is what boring-palate kids want, so it's understandable... just a disappointing to pay $3.50 for a tiny bowl of blah. Charge $1.50 at most or add some real lettuce and make it bigger. Fries. Their Fries are just bland. Good amount of potato, though, and they're nice and crispy on the outside, but they could use some salt or paprika or garlic or... something. Meh at best. But with Chili all over them, yes. Meat cooking: My meat was dry (brisket and pulled pork). The reason I list this last is I love their sauces so much, it didn't really matter after I drenched it in their awesome sauces. But just the meat alone... nah. Maybe Sunday afternoon isn't the best time to eat there... maybe I just got unlucky. Maybe it's supposed to be dry and my lifetime BBQ experience has been a huge lie. Where Big Daddy's Wins: Portions: Big Daddy's portions per dollar were about half again as much as BBQ for life's. Breads: Big Daddy's buns and hoagies were better - not only was the bread itself better, but they grilled it, which gave it a nice crunch on the inside and a barrier for sauce. Sauces: I prefer Big Daddy's sauces across the board, so I totally didn't mind juicing it up a little bit. My husband loves the Chiver's BBQ sauce served at BBQ for life, but I prefer more depth of flavor and spice. Big Daddy's had a sweet sauce (thickest), a spicy sauce, and Carolina sauce, which was a bit vinegary. I mixed all 3 for the perfect sauce. mmmmmm good! Mac-n-cheese: Big Daddy's Mac-n-cheese was creamier, but I like the spice in BBQ for life's Mac-n-cheese; Overall, I'd mix them together and add more bacon for total win. Kids like this version better. Brisket Chili Fries: YUM. Our plate of chili fries was gone in two minutes flat. Not kidding. This chili made me think I should start eating chili. I'm not a chili person at all and I loved it. Perhaps too much sour cream, but nothing I couldn't just scrape off to the side. Jalapeno sausage: Total win. Delicious. Get some. Ribs: I didn't eat them, but my daughter liked them better than BBQ4life - whatever that means - she is pretty enthusiastic about her ribs, so... I trust her. read more

This tucked away restaurant is a hidden gem. Great atmosphere, 3 kinds of sauce at the table and good sized portions at fair prices. Went to the new Fairview location. The wait was 50-minutes before food arrived. Staff was friendly and comped a desert for the long wait. Food was mediocre and very overpriced for the quality: $60 for 2-people, no drinks. Charged extra for double brisket on a 3-meat combo meal even with only ordering brisket and sausage.
