I haven't eaten here in awhile, so I decided to order some turkey wings, collard greens and Mac and cheese. I was really disappointed. The collard greens and mac and cheese was decent. But, the Baked Turkey Wings with Dressing was not good at all. The turkey was super dry, and the dressing didn't have any flavor. I was really disappointed. I haven't been here and the last time I was here, I was disappointed. I doubt I'll try it again. :-(

Oh I just love me some big daddy's. I had the turkey wings and they lasted me a good time. They were so good! I love coming to this restaurant when I'm in Atlanta.

the line just wrapping around and around

We got confused were the front door was after parking. But then when we walked in, wow there was a line that wrapped around the counter. It took us probably around 45 mins of waiting in the line. It was a bit confusing on how to order too. We are not from here. So we asked a couple people. When it was our turn to order, the worker said he was only in charge of the meat. But we could not see what meats were available to order as the line wrapped around and we have to go further to see the other available meats. So this is why it was kind of confusing / chaotic. However, once we got our food. It was so yummy! We got oxtail with yellow rice, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, okra, mac and cheese, and some desserts. This southern food really hit the spot for us. We couldn't visit the south, without eating sothern food. This was probably my favorite meal during our trip to atlanta. My favorite was the oxtail and rice. The meat was so nice and tender and the sauce with it - PERF! If I ever come back to atlanta, I would love to come back here!

This place is the BOMB! God gave these folks some serious cooking gifts and they blessed my family and me real good when we were there. The servings are generous and the staff are kind and sweet and accommodating. Can't wait to return.

Greens and black eye pease. Very good

Waiting In a line for 30 minutes is unacceptable when the food is already prepared. Then you have to start your order with only 1 person who is so rude. Jerk Turkey was very tough. What is the purpose of the waiter that comes to your table to stop off a coke box with condiments after you already been in a line for 30 minutes ordering your food. Waist of a tip for doing nothing. Oh then while we were there she asked a male customer to help her with something In storage room / staff area that she could not reach. Very unprofessional.

Collard greens, Mac and cheese and neck bones over rice.

Okay let me tell you about this jewel!! I was headed home and I stopped here. The food was amazing. The hosts and service were immaculate. And the food was so Good. I ordered neck bones over rice with collard greens and Mac and cheese, fried chicken, cornbread and peach cobbler with the lemonade. It was on point. I will be back!!

Iykyk it's been a minute since I had some food from this restaurant! My mom used to live in Eastwick on Candler Rd around 2014 I used to visit that location a lot when I would go and see her. I have not had this food since that location closed. I took my brother there when I got my wing plate and he said do they know that I'm your brother lol. The food is delicious I would always get the jumbo wings one of my favorite meals from this place. The beef ribs with the sauce was my number two meal. I got the 4 fried chicken wings dinner with 2 sides Mac and cheese and cornbread dressing a cranberry sauce with a corn muffin! I got my food on 12-3-2025 through Uber Eats. Pull up and support if you can. If not Uber Eats got you covered. Big bro used to be in the kitchen cooking up the food fr.

I've been wanting to stop here for a few years and today I finally pulled in to try it out. First thing I noticed is that it's very crowded, but it seemed to move fairly quickly. I didn't want to stand in line, so I ordered pickup while sitting in the parking lot. The wait was 40 minutes. I ordered the 2 piece whiting with collard greens, mac & cheese and cornbread muffin. The mac & cheese was really good, but it also had a lot of black pepper in it. The collard greens were okay. The cornbread muffin was alright. The whiting tasted good. I would rate my whole meal as a 9. My husband had oxtails and he said they were tough. The steamed cabbage and okra were really good. The cornbread dressing was a huge disappointment. They also left out his cornbread muffin. He rated his whole meal as a 5.

I went here with a few friends. I got the Alabama Chicken, which just looked like chicken and vegetables. It is very spicy! I didn't expect that. I also ordered the squash and cabbage..the cabbage was good. The squash was ok. The restaurant stays busy and packed. And the servers try to be as patient as they can with all the customers. Overall, I say the.food is good and they do.give generous portions so you feel you're getting your monies worth.

The customer service was outstanding. This was my first time here. The servers were very patient and made several suggestions as well as sample taste cups. I ordered vegetarian plate (4) and the portions were large. That Mac n cheese melted in your mouth!! Never had spinach taste so good. I will definitely be back with some friends

The food was beyond delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful explaining everything. None of us could finish because the portions were huge. The atmosphere inside is spectacular.

Baked turkey wings, with dressing, Mac and cheese, sauteed spinach and a cornbread muffin
    Nakema G.

I wanted some soul food yesterday and a friend recommended this spot. I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived, but my friend did say there would probably be a line. As many other reviews have stated it is cafeteria style with many options for meats and sides. I opted for the baked turkey wings with dressing, Mac and cheese, sauteed spinach and a corn bread muffin. The food was okay, my favorite item in the plate was the spinach. It was very flavorful. If I'm in the area again I would be willing to check them out again and try some different items.

    Oxtails, yellow rice, greens, yams.

We arrived around 4:45 and there was already a few people waiting as the doors didn't open until 5 for dinner. After a few minutes, a nice white haired gentleman open the door and welcomed us in. It was then that I knew this was going to be a treat! Upon entering, you're immediately greeted by a smiling hostess, the warmth of the hardwood floors, soft lighting and white tablecloths. We were sat near the window street side which was perfect. Our waitress was prompt, friendly and attentive. The menu is perfectly curated with southern comfort meals with a twist. The cocktail menu is stellar! I could write on and on but I'll let the pictures do the talking. From the service to the last bite and sip of cocktail..South City Kitchen was amazing!

For dinner everyone raved about the fried Chicken and collards. One of my friends said it was in the top three fried chicken dishes he'd ever had. I ordered the pork chop Which was really good. The peach and the pork were a great combination, Overall well worth visiting. Make a reservation though. :-)

There's so much history wrapped into the restaurant that eating here feels like participating in a little piece of the city's story, and I really appreciated that sense of tradition. The fried chicken and sweet tea were absolutely iconic. The chicken had that unmistakable Southern comfort-food quality that makes you understand why recipes like this are guarded so closely. The sweet tea was exactly what Southern sweet tea is supposed to be: unapologetically sweet, refreshing, and basically a cultural institution in a glass. Paired with the fried chicken, it felt like the quintessential Atlanta meal. What made the experience even more meaningful to me, though, was learning about the history behind the Southern "tea room" tradition itself. Historically, tea rooms were among the important public spaces where women could gather independently outside the home, socialize, exchange ideas, and engage with the changing cultural and political conversations of their communities. There's something powerful about realizing that what sounds like such a simple concept--a "tea room"--is connected to a much larger history of women carving out public and social spaces for themselves.

Not life-changing, but definitely good. I had the turkey with gravy, cornbread dressing, green beans, and mashed potatoes. Everything was plated beautifully and had that comforting, home-cooked feel. The seasoning leaned a little salty for my taste, but the food was still very well prepared and enjoyable. My husband had the country fried chicken, and that was a standout. It was perfectly breaded and crunchy on the outside while staying juicy and moist inside. His mac and cheese was rich and decadent, and the collard greens were an absolute must-have. Truly amazing. We also tried the skillet-style cornbread, which was good, and the yeast rolls, which were fluffy, warm, and delicious. We finished our meal with the bread pudding that had apples, peaches and blueberry compost in top it was only missing ice cream. Overall, it was a lovely experience with comforting Southern food and several dishes we would happily order again. Our waitress was attentive and made great recommendations for our food which came out at a steady pace. The music was at a tolerable level that we could still hear each other but still with some great 80s and 90s rnb hits. The seating is tolerable, not fine dining but expected for the age of the establishment. We parked in the back which was free when we came for lunch on a Friday. If you are coming to Atlanta you must visit Mary Mac's I waited far too long to come here.

That is honestly the way to be anywhere on MLK drive. When you get inside, the place is set up cafeteria line style with booths for dining in if you choose too. The prices are listed on the wall and they serve breakfast and lunch/dinner food with the prices listed clearly on the wall and daily specials also. You order by standing in line & they place your food into a styrofoam box & you can eat it there or take it home. I opted to take mine to go. I waited in line for about ten minutes which I hear is good for this place. I honestly did not know what I was going to order until I saw the fresh fried pork chops come out (please see my picture). Not only did they look fresh, but they were big, crispy & well seasoned. The meat only option included two and the price was more than right.
