Three couples out for a good casual meal with adult beverages and outdoor seating. Well, Big Daddy's filled the bill and more! My only negative I will get out of the way was the condition of the tables... there a number including ours that had not yet been cleaned and cleared for the next customer. Not unique to Big Daddy's but also not good to see when you enter. Now, let's move on to the positive...there' a lot more of that! We were greeted right away and seated a few moments later. Our server was very polite, on the spot and took our drink and appetizer orders right away. We started with Crab Claws before looked up our server was back to take our orders for entrees. These varied from Blackened Shrimp, Blackened Sway Fish Wrap, Gumbo, Fried Crawfish Tails, Grouper Fingers, Fried Oysters...All served warm and ready to eat. They also have a good selection of inclusive and premium side dishes to add to your order. We all mentioned that the French & Sweet Potato Fries were also served hot! Not from a warming tray. The meal was ok, but nothing spectacular. My wife and I took her dad who was visiting and I just arrived home from out of town and thought we would try something different. Father in law got the grilled shrimp which he liked and is. It picky. I ordered the shrimp and oyster Poboy with sweet potato fries and wife wanted the shrimp but didn't order because the waiter "thought" the seasoning used had MSG, which for some can cause bad migraines and my wife is one of those. She opted for a salad. View was nice sitting outside and prices are reasonable, but wait staff wasn't the greatest we have had. Update: I've updated my review based on the fact that any restaurant that managed to handle so many youngsters and communicate so well, while succeeding at all aspects of the food service industry truly deserves 5 stars!! We came in with a soccer team consisting of boys 8-10 years old, their older and younger siblings and the parents and friends, 25 or so in total. Service was exceptional, especially considering the fact that only one person took care of all us. The ambiance was incredible as the restaurant backs right up to a lake and is hidden among a canopy of trees and moss. What I ate was unexceptional, but in no way bad. The blackened chicken was less zesty than anticipated and the salad basic but very fresh. Pricing was decent and all the kid's meal were 6 dollars each including drinks. read more

This place has amazing food and a great atmosphere! It was decorated for the holidays so nicely! The fireplace made it seam so inviting and the view of the water was pretty. Everyone was super happy with our food. My husband still hasn't stopped talking about the gumbo and my fish was fantastic! They also had some of the best shrimp, according to our son. The service was also top notch. The staff were all super friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back the next time we visit the area! This might have just become our new "must go to place" when we come to the Alabama Gulf Coast. read more

Came out for the Fish River boat parade When we arrived 1 hour before the parade there were no tables available outside, we asked to move outside if something opened up. We were answered with IDK, I'll see. We watched as multiple people were seated outside while we finished our dinner. We asked if we could move outside and have drink, not a table just a drink and wait on the parade. Answer was no. So we tried to give up our table for others and just stand on the dock but we weren't allowed. Came here a few years ago and decided since I had some time to spare on my way back home from Orange Beach to stop again. The food was absolutely fantastic. Last night I ate at a place that cost me twice as much in the Orange Beach area and the food hands down was no where near as good. I had a triple combo with blackened fish and shrimp with fried crab claws. As good as the best restaurants in New Orleans. If you looking for good food this is your place. This place was great! Some of the best service we have ever had, quick and friendly. The food was served hot and was delicious. I had the crawfish Po'boy and my husband had the lunch shrimp basket. The onion rings were very good and he had fries and coleslaw which he though was not over dressed and very tasty. We bought home a piece of pie which we have not eaten yet as we are still too full from lunch. Right on the water, this is a hidden, but prime location. The service here is wonderful, and everyone is very welcoming. We came at an off hour so it wasn't too busy, and we ordered a very large meal. My boyfriend and his dad shared the big daddy basket, his mom got the oyster basket, and I got the crab claw basket. The hush puppies were perfect and reminded me of being home in Virginia. The coleslaw was delicious as well, as were the sweet potato fries, however standard. The crab claws were a little flavorless but the cocktail sauce helped out. All in all, a little pricey but the portions are huge. I finished almost all of my food, except about a third of the claws and a few fries. It was a pound of crab claws though, so I was pretty impressed with myself. read more

Big Daddy's grill had great food, but the worst service. They NEVER answer the phone to take orders, and the one time they do, they put you on hold for 15 minutes until it disconnects. Right off the bat I was very impressed with their efforts to follow social distancing guidelines. The staff was incredibly friendly and personable. Our waitress recommended ordering off the kids menu which was the perfect portion size for me. We ordered the fried seafood basket and shared it between 2 people. It came with fish, shrimp, oysters, crab claws, hush puppies, cole slaw and onion rings. Everything was fried perfectly. The atmosphere outside was nice and the servers were nice. It would have earned 5 stars if the cocktail and tartar sauce were homemade. The food was great, lots of flavor. I had the half gumbo and shrimp poboy. Gumbo was the best I've had besides in Louisiana. My husband had the shrimp wrap. He enjoyed it but said it was too dry. Sat outside and loved the water views. It's nice and quiet. The reason for the four stars is with the condiments. I've never been to a seafood restaurant that didn't make their own tarter sauce or cocktail sauce. They brought us packaged sauces that, honestly, tasted awful. Don't waste your time or money. They may have decent fried food, but the management has a lot to learn about how to treat customers. My friend was there recently, and when she went to the outside dining area, she missed the step and fell, hurting her foot and back. She said nobody from management even asked if she was okay. Management did not check in her, or offer to help, or anything. I find this disgusting and I, for one, will never go in there again. Management at this place has shown that they don't care about their customers, and I find that to be intolerable. Big Daddy's is maybe a mile down the road from where I live. If I could afford to eat there every day, I would. Top notch fried oysters, shrimp and fish. Love the blackened fish and shrimp. Had the Philly cheesesteak for lunch one day, and it was gone before I knew it. The hamburgers/cheeseburgers (in Paradise, mind you) are huge and have all the toppings you can imagine. The staff is always friendly, prompt and don't need to be reminded to stop by and check on you. My favorite spot to sit is at the outdoor counter overlooking the river. My boyfriend and I (both 21) went here for lunch and bushwackers. Our waitress told us that our IDs make her "nervous". She made no effort to scan our IDs. She proceeded to serve us virgin bushwackers and charge us $22 for them. She ignored us for the rest of our lunch. We asked if there was rum in our drinks and she replied "there's a lot more than just rum in there". She also said that they're made from a pre-made mix. We know this isn't true because we watched the bartender make them. If you're going to deny us, at least don't lie to our faces and charge us full price for milkshakes. read more

Excellent food!! Everybody was super happy with their meals. I'm only giving 4 stars because every employee we encountered acted as if they didn't want to be there. They gave our children kids menus with no crayons and when I went up to the desk to ask they acted annoyed because I interrupted their conversation. I was in Fairhope for a job interview, and rather than spending a night alone in a hotel, I opted for a seafood outing. Great down south river front dining for the whole family. There is an indoor seating section seperate from the indoor bar area which features a sitting area with couches & a big screen. There are 2 outdoor sitting sections. 1 has a huge fireplace for winter nights & the other sits right next to the sand box for the kids. On game nights, the football game will be playing & the atmosphere is great. There also is a band playing on a good night. There is a marina as well as a dock to pull up to for quick pick ups. The service is great & always friendly. The food is good & similar to most all other places in the area. The owner will sometimes come sit & talk & he seems to be a pretty cool fellow.
