    Shrimp Poboy, gumbo, beignets
    Jane O.

Poboy was loaded with shrimp. Crisp not greasy. Good flavor. Gumbo was tasty and satisfying. Beignets were amazing. (I was afraid they wouldn't hold up for delivery) I wanted the brownie but they were out. Guess I'll be forced to order from here again. ;)

    Seafood gumbo-delicious

We were heading to UT to pick up some tickets for the football game when we seen the sign for po'boys going down 12th st. We didn't even think twice and just pulled over and parked to try some po' boy the way they should be made. Lol it's a little hole in the wall, so don't blink and miss it. The staff is always friendly. Our server was Dara and she was a sweet young lady full of smiles and extra info not on the menu. It was much appreciated because there are 3 different gumbos & I chose the seafood gumbo (crawfish, shrimp & white fish). Everything was so fresh & so delicious. The food was spicy for me but definitely tolerable & bursting with flavor. The po' boys were stuffed & delicious. The popcorn shrimp is my favorite & never thought I would like seafood gumbo but this place definitely changed my mind. I introduced my sister to this places well, so now she has another great spot to go to for seafood. I'm sure we'll be coming back over and over. The place is pretty small but there is seating, a tv and even a stage.

Tip from a New Orleans native sent us here for some crawdads, gumbo, jambalaya, hush puppies, and beignets. After trying all those- we didn't have room to try the po-boys, but everything we had was solid and full of flavor without going overboard or trying too hard. The location has the dive bar vibe- but if you've been to New Orleans- that just adds to the authenticity and Nola Vibes. Go with a group of friends and get a big platter of crawdads or share a little bit of everything- the price is right and you can't go wrong no matter what you choose.

    Oyster Po-boy and Crawfish Etouffee
    Uksang Y.

Both the oyster Po-boy and the crawfish etouffee tasted great! However I have to mention that when I opened up the etouffee, the rice looked almost stew-like with no distinct grains (pictured). It gave it an odd pasty texture and it kept getting in the way of enjoying the great flavors both of these dishes had.

Sampler Platter was incredible plus you can substitute the salad for their awesome slaw.

The food is incredible. It takes me back to New Orleans. Plus the owners are incredible. Austin is lucky to have this place.

6" Roast beef poboy w/ fries

I ordered the lunch combo: 6" poboy with fries & a drink. Wonderfully messy & delicious! Quick, friendly service from the food truck in the back, off the alley. They have outdoor tables spaced for social distancing, but will wrap for takeout if needed. Plus- support a local black-owned business!

Fish, shrimp and oyster platter! With burnt oysters!
    Nicole J.

Very disappointed. So much potential here but over priced and inaccurate orders makes it not worth coming back. For $34 I'd expect to not get the wrong order twice. Maybe if they write things down accurately and have a host that actually wants to greet customers and enjoys her job I would have gave 2 stars. After my order was wrong they came back with a new order with burnt oysters. It wasnt my fault they got the order wrong. And I wish people didnt have resturants if they dont care about customers. I will never come back here and I will never recommend this place. Austin has many cajun resturants. I advise people to not waste their money or time on this one.

Food good but paid for a 12 inch..received half my poboy
    Oscar A.

Paid for a 12 inch poboy, received a 6 inch, uber would not refund me the money which is ridiculous, last time uber takes my money, food is good everytime from here but how do you forget half a foot long sandwich...

My husband and I shared the 1/2 fish and 1/2 shrimp platter!
    Yvonne B.

My husband and I happened upon this place and loved it! Had never been and walked into a tiny bar/restaurant where a lovely jazz/NOLA style band was playing. We ordered the red beans and rice, crawfish etouffee and split the fish/shrimp platter. Was just enough spice and came out quickly. Delivered by the cook himself! We really enjoyed the vibe and will come back when we have more time to enjoy.

Arrived around 2:00pm on a Saturday and food came out in like 7 minutes. Didn't skimp on spices and butter. Plenty of to fill two people up for lunch and leave the room to be able to try things either within the same food truck lot or somewhere else. We elected to grab coffee else where. The guy working was super friendly and helpful. Even took the trash bag to throw away the shells for us. We didn't ask but the one critique is to include crackers apart of the orders or simply pre crack the claws before you hand out the bag. Got creative with breaking the harder shells. Other than that, food was great, will be back if we come back to Austin.

The man cooking is incredibly sweet and came in clutch when I forgot to order seasoning. I was visiting from a region known for crab/seafood boils and was not disappointed! Crab tends to turn to shreds when it's overboiled, and I was EASILY pulling out nice, intact pieces from the shell, so no worries about that here. If you're in the area, definitely approach the truck even if it looks closed--worth it to double check!

Suggestions for ordering, menu explanations, and informative explanation of their tortilla process was given to me by the gentleman who sat me. Not rushed with a "I gotta do this" tone. I could tell that he really loved being and working there. The food and drinks were absolutely amazing. I got an appetizer that was on their daily tastings, and two tacos off of the regular menu. The chef brought out all of my food and explained to me how each one was made and what ingredients were in each dish. There also wasn't much crab or shrimp, and the seafood we did find was tough and overcooked. Based on other reviews, I can see why Mongers may still be worth another visit if you stick strictly to their seafood-focused dishes. You can really taste the love that went into all this food. This is a food truck right across from HEB mueller in that swimming pool parking lot. I online ordered and picked up 3 different orders. 2 of them were not ready and she had me wait in my car and she brought them out to me so I didn't melt in the heat. Now the important stuff the menu... Ok who knew you could fry ribs?!?! They were on point. 4 to an order. Ribs were still moist, the batter had a crunch, and the meat fell off the bone. The dirty rice was the best dirty rice I've ever eaten. It was loaded up with seafood The smothered pork chops were 2 to an order and 2 sides served on a bed of white rice. Also very moist and great flavor, the Mac n cheese was not runny which I personally hate when it's just a runny mess, the fried cabbage also had a great flavor and it was still crunchy. The jerk chicken had great flavor but it was ordered as mild (not by me) and it definitely needed the heat/spice,the jumbalaya side was also tasty We also got the hot Cheetos boudin balls (I forgot to take a picture) they were huge and not spicy at first bite the heat sneaks up on you. The strawberry crunch cake was a big slice and reminded me of strawberry cake doughnut but that banana pudding was also probably the best banana pudding I've ever eaten. I felt all the portions were huge and prices were fair. This definitely not a food truck to sleep on. I've been told she makes great oxtails but they sell out fast.

Since it was this new and poppin' restaurant on East Cesar Chavez from the team behind De Nada, we had over an hour wait that we didn't take up. Its vibe intrigued me, and I think Cajun food is top five like Tatum with a cut. I decided to prepare only slightly this time. While getting dinner with a friend, we were discussing places when I suggested Lil' Easy. I threw a reservation down for an hour later at one of their numerous dining options. Upon arrival, parking at that little strip of restaurants on East Cesar Chavez is a bit treacherous. If you're not afraid of getting your steps in at 6 pm on a Friday, don't sweat it. Anyone else, good luck. There are a lot of different seating arrangements at Lil' Easy: the true outdoor patio with fans and umbrellas, the climate-controlled outdoor space that still brings the sun while still pumping A/C, and the traditional indoor space. Plenty of seating. The entire place was decorated with Mardi Gras beads and colors. Off the rip, we had to set the tone: I ordered a Pimm's Cup while my friend got some secret frozen swirl. We had to throw down an order of the Crawfish Queso as well. The food and drinks were served so quickly, we questioned if it was ours. The queso was De Nada's signature queso with Crawfish Étouffée mixed in. There are no tortilla chips on the side, but instead toasted bread. It's kinda like a DIY Crostini. The crawfish's flavor is a unique and savory balance to the cheesiness of the queso. Very delightful. We crushed it. My friend wanted to go wild. Another appetizer?? Their Shrimp Cocktail was thrown down immediately after ordering. The shrimp was great, but those house pickles were sneakily one of the best things they served us. Living the high life. Speaking of that, I ordered a High Life Pony as we made our main orders: a Fried Catfish Po'Boy and Fried Oyster Po'Boy. Both cut down the middle so we could have a little this, a little that. I think the bread, the catfish and the oysters, and the fries served alongside it were all incredible. My only issue was that the catfish po'boy had horseradish in it. That is a me issue, and I don't know why I can't stand horseradish. I don't know if it was hiding in their coleslaw or their rémoulade, but something was horseradish-y! I'd get the oyster po'boy again and again though! We closed the night with me being fun as I ordered their Frozen Espresso Martini with sprinkles and whipped cream because some other lady sitting nearby had that, and I WANTED TO BE FUN TOO. My friend got herself the seasonal nonalcoholic Arnold Palmer that was spiked with some Deep Eddy Lemon Vodka. Hers was great, but mine was basically a milkshake. I looked like a joyous kid with my drink. I was so very happy. They do give you lids for your drinks if you want to take them with you, but I planned to finish mine then and there. The gimme cups are also a nice touch and have their cute alligator mascot on them. Throughout the night, we could not believe how fast the service was at getting our meals and our drinks to us. Our waitress was absolutely on point the entire time we were there, constantly checking in on us and being extremely friendly and helpful in making sure we chose the right things and had a good meal ahead of us. Lil' Easy is casual, fun, and absolutely delicious. They have some of the best frozens in Austin, and their food is some of the best seafood and Cajun food I've had in Austin, hands down. She was a new server and new to Lil' Easy. We decided to try a variety of items including fried shrimp, French fries, sausage and chicken gumbo, garlic and parmesan oysters and hush puppies. The food was as good as the food you will find in NOLA. The standouts for me was the gumbo, oysters and hush puppies. The gumbo was flavorful and well-seasoned...I savored every bite. I do not like anything slimy including oysters. Given that these oysters were cooked, I took the oyster plunge. They came out steaming hot almost burning my fingers...so delightful to eat. The hush puppies were delicious...crisp but not overly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Definitely returning...
