On a quest to restore my body from Saturday night's shenanigans, we struck out east looking for southern food. My car auto piloted straight for the familiar place on Manor Rd, but for some god forsaken reason it was closed for a party. Sad and hungry, we sought a different route and decided on Cajun. We had never been here, but were very satisfied that we ended up here. The place is very unassuming and relaxed. They have a stage and have bands sometimes, but didn't on a Sunday afternoon. Just the cowboys on the tube and the smell of gumbo in the air. They sell beer and have a small bar, if you're so inclined. I opted out of that today, but did go with the sampler platter of jambalaya, etoufee, and red beans and rice, which came with a salad and bread. I don't know why, but I love a salad after a night of drinking! They put lettuce, tomatoes and dill pickles, with a red wine vinaigrette, which hit the spot. Of all the dishes the jambalaya was my favorite, but all of them were so good! The man got gumbo and an oyster po boy. He raved about his order and it did look amazingly good. We ordered some beignets to go, because why not. The beignets were thick and crispy on the outside with pillows of bready goodness on the inside. I think I will live now. The owner was there serving us up. Super nice guy. While we were there, lots of folks were popping in and out to place to-go orders. And I saw a sign saying that they deliver. Such a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! We had shrimp platter which comes with cole slaw, bread and fries. So good. Not greasy and the batter was delicious. I'm not even a fan of cole slaw but theirs is so good! Got beignets as well and I swear these were better than the famous place in New Orleans people go to. We will def be back. read more

The shrimp I ordered smelled like a dirty used tampon or pad that has been sitting for days in the hot sun. It was so obviously spoiled I dont know how it was let go from the kitchen like that. It made my whole entire meal taste terrible. I did thoroughly enjoy the beignets. I'm happy I decided to order two orders of them or I would have been very hangry. Luckily my husband shared his meal with me. I will not be back for food unless I had a craving for the beignet. I probably wont be back at all after trying to get the shrimp smell out of my nose. My wife and I ordered take out from here that was delivered by Uber Eats and were very disappointed by both the quality of the food and the quality control on the order we got. I ordered the fried popcorn crawfish and I loved them, but the tiny amount of remoulade sauce I got left me wanting on half the order. My sampler platter is reviewed as follows: - jambalaya was alright - crawfish etoufee was the worst I ever had, more like watery soup - red beans and rice had a metallic flavor and bland - salad was like sandwich veggies (lettuce, tomato, and pickles) with ranch - coleslaw did not make it to me - French fries did not make it to me - bread was tasty My wife had the LA hot sausage poboy and fries which were alright, but the sausage patty was very thin. This place is located in a pretty shady area but it seems like a local joint that's a great little bar and food place to hang out. They have a stage so they must have open mics here or people who sing, they have a pool table for customers which was great for us because we were the only ones there at the time, and there are lots of T.Vs that plays sports. The person who took our order (possible owner) was very nice and told us the drink specials and served us with our food and drinks. I came here to really only try a little bit of food because I am not from the area and I have been resturant hopping so that I could try as much food as possible so I came here and tried the fish taco and man it was pretty good. The fish was pretty big and grilled really well and they had this hot sauce on the table that matched really well with the taco. Next time I might as for no onions though because I am not a big onion fan. This place is a dive, and not a good one. The only reason they're not getting one star is because the bartender was so nice. The atmosphere and the service is terrible, and the food is not great. We walked in and no one acknowledged our presence, so I finally went to the bar to figure out how everything works. They were out of three of the four items we ordered. Both the food and atmosphere are great. My husband had the raw oysters for his appetizer, and I had the lemon pepper wings for mine. We were both pleased. For our entrees, my husband had the fried oyster/fried crawfish platter with fries, coleslaw, and yummy toasted bread. I don't like oysters, but I tried one of the fried ones anyway, and the batter was divine.: extremely well-seasoned and flavorful. I had the blackened cajun fish platter, with *amazing* red beans and rice, and an iceberg lettuce salad with a tasty, homemade vinaigrette. The beers were cold, live music sounded great, and the owner was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I ordered some beignets to go, and they were flaky and sweet,even several hours later. First things first, the food was good. The restaurant is pretty hole in the wall and not the greatest environment, but that wasn't a big deal. A lot of great restaurants have sub-par decor. The service? Slow and overall poor. When we walked in we had to find someone to help us. Food took a very long time and wait staff took FOREVER to do anything. It took them 20 minutes to get us our check. My friend's order was supposed to come with coleslaw, but it didn't. After he asked about it, he was told they were out of coleslaw. Upon leaving we saw the waitress serving coleslaw to another table. My order was incorrect, and instead of being served a platter, I was served a side dish. I was still charged for a platter. I ended up paying $25 and I left hungry. What did I order? Side of shrimp, a plate of (cold) étouffée. And I split gumbo with my friend. I paid $25 for this meal. read more

I can't vouch for the entire menu but I can say the boiled crawfish is some of the best I've had in Austin for sure! The staff was friendly and the price was very reasonable. I've been here twice in the last two weeks. Once with my teenage daughter (who, funnily enough, ordered the exact same thing I did- half shrimp half crawfish po boy with lemonaide), and I went there later with some friends who also tremendously enjoyed it. We got the grilled oysters as an appetizer, it was the first time my kid had them, and they were fantastic. I may have created a monster. Beware, oysters, you have a new super fan- a 15 year old girl who loves you with garlic. The beneigts, which I am picky about, were near perfect. The fry on the fish (I had the platter my second time), crawfish, and shrimp were perfect- it's so easy to over cook and make it rubbery. The bread pudding was downright decadent, and since my Mamma spent time in her youth in Louisiana and considers bread pudding one of her specialties, you KNOW it's good. Here is what to expect: rickety tables, hilariously ghetto yet clean bathroom, cold and cheep beer, great, friendly service (the waitress from the first time I was there swung by my table and remembered not only me, but my kid!) damn good food, and great music on the jukebox. Very much Louis Armstrong style good time jazz. Oh, and the food is DAMN good, big servings, and cheap. If you want a hole in the wall that makes you feel like you're in New Orleans, and you don't want linen tablecloths, this is the best place I've found in Austin for po boys, beer, and oysters. read more

But the guys that work this joint are friendly and the food kicks ass! We're talking tasty crawfish poboy, crisp popcorn shrimp, and damn good dirty rice and gumbo. However, do come here if you are looking to get Creole cooking. I love supporting local businesses and I think these guys have what it takes to start a creole place. This was a sandwich on a toasted French loaf with tiny, breaded shrimp, mayo, pickles, shredded lettuce, and absent of any spices or other flavor. - Crawfish Po' Boy - The crawfish sandwich was exactly like the shrimp sandwich, except with a slightly more fishy smell and taste. I'd stick with the shrimp in the future. - Hamburger Po' Boy - a blaaaand, thin, frozen patty, cut in half, and slapped between the bread accompanied by the same mayo, pickled, and shredded lettuce. Except there wasn't enough beef to cover the bread. Sloppy and bland. Again, I probably wouldn't go here again, at least given how infrequently I go out and the plethora or choices in the area. I got the fried oyster po' boy and it wasn't too flavorful. The oysters seemed more like fried batter, didn't taste any of the actual oyster. The bread was fresh though and the rest of the ingredients were good. The place itself has great NOLA decor, there was a band playing Sunday night and the staff is friendly. I placed an order over the phone and was told it'd be ready in 10 minutes, I came 20 minutes later and it hadn't been filled, so would recommend dine-in over carry-out for that reason. read more

Was in town doing a little bar hopping. After having a few drinks at a place next door, we wandered into this place around 11:00pm on a Friday night. The food was fantastic. My wife and I ordered po'boys with fries. She had shrimp and I had fish/crawfish.
