We had a challenging move from downtown S.F. to Berkeley, to a house that is in the middle of multiple construction projects. Yet they made everything feel easy. I had gotten food poisoning the day before and we were stressing because we hadn't yet finished packing. But it was no problem--they loaded the truck with the items that were ready to go while we packed the rest. Make sure to ask for Joseph and his team (Fernando and Victor). They arrived a little early so they'd be ready and were the utmost professional while also being a warm and friendly team of guys. We would have them over dinner any time. Because of Joseph I'm now convinced that moving is both an art and an athletic feat. We had a recliner (100lbs) and a treadmill (200lbs) that were too wide to go through a doorway--and yet he maneuvered them effortlessly through without a scratch on either.

I had Carlos and his team assemble our European style kitchen cabinets. They were made of finished…read morewood and lacquer cabinets. We sent our kitchen assembly instructions ahead of time to make sure they were aware. My overall sense is that Carlos is fairly capable and experienced but either his team or him are not as careful as we had damages to our finished wood toe kicks and our lacquer cabinets looked like they had been dragged over nails as they were being assembled. I didn't appreciate that they made 0 mention of it at all and I had to point it out. As the homeowner, I essentially had to baby sit them for 5 days through the install since it felt like they were incapable / unwilling to read the kitchen cabinet installation instructions in detail and I caught several mistakes early on during the cabinet assembly that made me hesitant to leave it unattended. Carlos's attitude was particularly bad through the entire experience as well. Always made it seem like we were inconveniencing him or being too nit picky even if we caught some mistakes. At one point, he even threatened to quit after the assembly but before the installation simply because he had underestimated the complexity of the project. We did have a 1 day delay due to some plumbing / electrical issues but that's pretty typical as far as kitchen cabinet installations go AFAIK. In the end, they were able to get all the kitchen cabinets installed, albeit with a lot of effort from my end due to the more custom nature of the project. The price was affordable and the work was solid (minus the scratches) but for me the bad attitude wasn't worth it.

I ended up going with Same Day Dumpster and was very pleased with the experience. Erick was by far the quickest to reply, his responses were the most professional of the bunch, and his pricing was well defined. He was a little bit more expensive than some of the other quotes that came in, but the quotes I received from other providers were pretty nebulous and seemed to have other strings attached that could potentially drive the price up beyond the quoted price. In any case, I had the dumpster in and out in one day, but Erick did offer the flexibility to keep the dumpster on site for multiple days if needed without driving up the quote, which I appreciated. The drop off and retrieval were both right on time as scheduled by Erick. No issues! PS - If you live in a townhome complex situation where it's hard to see / identify street numbers, I would advise making sure to be on site when the dumpster delivery comes in. If I hadn't been there to direct the driver, the dumpster would have ended up in my neighbor's driveway.

the last leg of our moving journey took place about three weeks ago when we called BFM back to move us out of our rental, then the majority of our belongings out of storage and into our new home. a lot of logistics to manage not to mention, three flights of stairs at our new place. it was good to see fred, eric and ryder back on this job, as they were great when they moved us into storage. after the two trips, they got to our house and in an attempt to save us time and money, there was a mishap (not going to get into details) which resulted in property damage. it happened as they were preparing to start unloading the truck. I could tell they truly felt bad, they pressed on and worked their asses off. since they did a lot of the packing when they moved us out, i can tell you nothing was broken and they took care in hauling our things up those stairs. a couple of days later, i spoke to noah, the owner of BFM, about the accident. he was very empathetic and solution oriented. we agreed to the resolution that noah suggested and he is a man of his words. come for the professional, friendly moving service, stay for the high business ethics of noah and BFM. read more

Hi Noah,this is a very late thank you, but I wanted to let you know what an awesome job Viktor and Matthew did! Viktor kept me updated on their arrival time. Both men were extremely professional and friendly when they were here. They moved all of dad's items with the greatest of ease. I think both men sensed my sadness at this new passage in my father's life. It's been a real struggle for my siblings and I to watch our father's mind unravel due to that awful disease called Alzheimer's. Viktor reassured me before they left with dad's belongings that he had been to numerous facilities in and around oakland and he thought the staff at Sunrise were top notch. Matthew relayed his own grandmothers struggles and honoring her wishes. My sister, Caroline, said the moving in of dad's belongings in oakland was wonderful. She loved working with Matthew and ? Noah is absolutely amazing. He went out of his way and got a crew together and out to me within 24hrs. They arrived on time. Very professional. They wrapped all my furniture before moving it. They actually had to park their truck at the bottom of the hill of the driveway to my apartments. We've an elevator, and they used the stairs as they carried each item to the truck. They even took our beds apart and set them back up at the new place. My daughter had just had surgery, and she was in a cast. They made sure that she was able to get back into the bed. They also reassembled my bed because they knew I was exhausted and would need a place to sleep. I'm a disabled woman. I have arthritis on my spine. They made sure that I did not exert myself. They did everything. In a matter of a couple of hours, the old house was empty, and the new house was full. I appreciate them, their hard work, and their service. They were VERY fast, courteous, friendly, and really-----performed a miracle at at the last minute and in a short period of time. Could not be more pleased. I had a great experience with BFM, they were on time professional, organized, and straight forward. I based my decision to go with them on the great yelp reviews and talking with the owner (who did the move with another guy). Reasonable quote and only a little outside of the estimated time but I underestimated how much stuff we have. I was really afraid that it was going to be a disaster, I haven't had great success with movers in the past usually they've been late or charged me way more than I expected but this went smoothly. We've moved 7 times in the last 13 years. I've met more movers than distant relatives. These guys are so great they remembered me from the last move and asked how I was doing. Big family movers were great. I had three movers come to help move my things to a condo over the Labor Day weekend which was also one of the hottest weekends of the year. They arrived on time and were prepared. They all were in great spirits and worked diligently throughout the move. This is the fallacy of Yelp's recommendation system. I fell into it. You could. FIND ANOTHER company. Serious. Here is my true story. I moved by 50min driving time. I called 3 men crew, they worked approx 5 hours. I paid $760.00, which is indeed more that you could expect. 1. During the move, one crew broke my tea table. I forgave, not did not charge the cost. 2. In 1 day after the move, we found an expensive plant is missing. They took it out from the old place (this is correct because I took photos of the old place after they moved all the stuffs out). It never arrived. One crew member was interested in my plant during move, though I don't judge that he would steal. ) 3. I called Sean, the chairperson of Movers Anonymous, who did not answer. Left voice message. in 34 hours, I got a call back. Discussed. He promised to call back but did not for another 2 days. 4. I emailed him. He said he would return immediately. Never happened. 5. Now it has been 10 days. Sean, the chairperson of this company, never return my email/phone, and does not resolve this issue. Upfront before moving, I asked Sean about loss/damage insurance. He said they don't have insurance, but they WILL pay outof their pocket on any circumstance. Ask him. He will say the same thing. But will you believe him? Moving process takes so many contingency. It is not possible you can record and remember every step. That's why insurance and proper inventory keeping is important. Movers anoynmous is great in the sense that crew members are kind and diligent. Is that sufficient? No. your goal is moving safely. My goal was violated. I believed Yelp's recommendation (5 stars). Not for your valuable stuffs. Here is the last line: Movers Anonymous is not trustworthy.

They're cheaper than most but I didn't consider how strength capacity would impact the overall cost. So when they took like 11 hours to move my 2bd ground floor apartment into a 7x16 storage unit, I was a little confused. But whatever. Then I sat on it and decided to spring for another company that cost more.. but they did finish everything in half the time (even with having to carry things up multiple stairs - something Mr Palm Moving Co men didn't have to do). The only problem is, we realized that Mr Palm Moving Co literally misplaced a whole couch cushion. That kind of pisses me off more. Bc on top of paying over a grand to move once, now I have to figure out how to replace a couch cushion. Or the couch. I would have reported it sooner, but what was supposed to be a 2 week stay in storage ended up being 3 months so yeah i doubt they'll report a cushion in their truck or help me cover the cost. Ugh The good things are they are really nice and they worked really hard. They wrapped everything in plastic wrap and sold me some boxes and included some on the house. Just... they take twice as long as other movers. So if you don't have heavy things or it's a smaller job, their lower rates are worth it?

These guys came to my place first: were on time, super friendly, organized, and CAREFUL w themselves as well as the cargo. My house has an OBCENE number of stairs, which they navigated w care, managed not to bump or scratch anything AND not to hurt themselves doing it. The price was comparable to better than 4 others we called and previously dealt with. - To compare, my piano was moved a few years by a pricier Irish company in San Francisco w great reviews and "experience moving pianos". There were 4 of them but one was a skinny teenager! They also dented my piano in 4 different places, bumped into a wall, and never held up their "guarantee". LOOK NO FURTHER, of the movers I have dealt with in the Bay Area, I give these guys A+ on all fronts.
