Well, it had been quite a while since my last visit to Pappy's, and it's safe to say the food is…read morestill incredible! I went with two coworkers last week and we got there around 11:45am. The line wasn't too long, but I did notice it's set up a little differently than I remember. They now use more of the building, so the line runs down the hallway and loops into the restaurant, with two ordering counters available. While you're waiting, they have menus to look at and even a QR code if you'd rather pull it up on your phone. We ended up waiting about 10 minutes before ordering. Once we got to the counter, everything moved quickly. The staff member helped us right away and let us know they'd bring the food out to our table, which I was glad hasn't changed. One thing I did notice is that the original ordering/dining area is no longer open for seating, it looks like it's now used for staff and possibly catering/to-go orders. They have their drink station available for self-service and offer sodas and sweet and unsweet tea options as well as water. Luckily, there's still plenty of seating in the newer dining area, plus a good number of outdoor tables if you want to sit at a picnic table and enjoy the weather. Within a few minutes, we heard our names called and our food came out fast. And honestly, it was just as good as ever. I was especially happy with the sweet potato fries, and even though applesauce isn't anything fancy, it's kind of the perfect side for me at Pappy's. I ended up eating about half of my meal and boxing the rest up for dinner later, which is always a win. Overall, such a great spot, and I'm really glad it's so close to work. Definitely still a fan and will keep going back.

Went on a road trip recently, and spent a few days in St. Louis. Since St. Louis has a whole style…read moreof rib named after it, I had to try and seek out the best in town. My research brought me here to Pappy's. I'm very glad it did. Ambiance starts with a line out the door, literally. You slowly shuffle down a long hallway full of Pappy's memorabilia. Then you make it to the ordering counter, order, and find a table. The dining room is huge, plenty of tables, with a full complement of sauces on each table. The service people at the counter were friendly, and so were the people delivering the food. The food came out quick and hot and delicious. We had baked beans and potato salad for sides, and they were pretty solid. Nothing show-stealing, but no complaints about them whatsoever. And of course, we got the ribs. Tender, juicy, a nice bite and chew, a decent bark, just a really wonderful rib. Better than any St. Louis style rib I've ever had back home in Florida. Other states, hard to say, the jury's out, but in that moment, I was eating a five-star rib. So good. We also got a 1/4 pound of the Burnt Ends. Usually, burnt ends are the king of meats, but I think we've entered the phase of America, where they're just another variety of meat and not necessarily upper echelon anymore. That being said, these were pretty ok. Should have gotten more ribs. Overall, Pappy's was pretty wow. Great local spot with a lot of pride and history, excellent ribs, I will definitely try to come back next time I'm in town.

The service was fast, the food was good, with a wide variety of bbq sauces. My favorite was the Mustarolina. You have to try the brisket! It was recommended by Lauren and she was not wrong. These days, very rarely can you go into a restaurant and be served good food that fast at that time of the day. Hats off to Lauren, Rachel (Manager) and the Salt + Smoke team for the work they do! Salt and Smoke is soooo good!…read more I got a side dish and an appetizer and they both delivered! My favorite thing at a BBQ restaurant is trying their BBQ sauces with french fries. So I ordered a side of french fries which were beef fat fries giving it a unique flavor. The titles for the BBQ sauces had me googling them to ensure they weren't too spicey, even with the titles the spice levels weren't too high. I tried them all and settled on Hotangy. I also got the toasted Ravioli which is a must have! It's so unique with the flavors and best fresh! Service: Excellent! My waitress was very attentive and kept my water filled. Reservations Needed: It seems like walk in only. Happy Hour: Available on weekdays from 3pm to 6pm (I came outside this window). Outdoor Seating: There's a patio outside with some seating Parking: Downtown garage and street parking

JUST GO!…read more Incredible food, super friendly servers that smile & fast service! My dad treated my sister and I to lunch at one of his favorite places, Sawmill. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with an enthusiastic hello. The place is very clean! The menu is pretty large and written clearly on the wall. Priced just right, in my humble opinion, for the great experience. We got our own drinks and were brought sauces right away. I think we received our order within 5 mins, if that. I ordered the turkey platter with French fries and applesauce. The turkey was so tender, absolute perfection! The fries were crispy and barely salted - but win! I'm a sucker for a great applesauce and Sawmill wins -- chunky and unsweetened. Amazing food, all around. My dad loved his BBQ pork, fried okra & baked beans. My sister complimented the delicious beef brisket several times as the best she's had. She loved the baked beans and green beans. Such a wonderful dining experience and really a cool place. I'm also impressed with the cleanliness - if you look up at the decor above you on the beams, not only is it super cool and vintage, but clean; not a cobweb in sight. We loved this place & I'm sure you will as well! Excellent food, service and light music for a relaxing ambiance. Bravo, Sawmill! Keep up the great work, you're truly a gem!

Brisket was tender but i felt a little dry. The ribs are holy ribs. Tender and very beefy! Oops I should say porky. Lots of meat on them! They have 4 different sauces to choose from. The ambience is very country and fitting the location. Not fancy but an experience. I gave a 4 for the ribs, potato salad, sauces and experience. I almost went a 3 because of canned green beans. Go enjoy and get stuffed. There is a camper site right behind the place. Maybe bring a camper, eat a ton and pass out in a food coma!

The kind of place where they welcome you and are truly appreciative of your patronage. The Stellar Hog is one of those places. Located in an older neighborhood all by itself, we were greeted by the owner who took us to our table. The first thing you notice is the smell. It's a wonderful BBQing meat smell that makes you can't wait to eat. The place is bigger on the inside than it looks and very clean. There's an outdoor eating area as well. We ordered at the bar, both my friend and I ordering the OG Brisket Sandwiches, mine with Coleslaw and my friend's with fries. No sooner did we sit down did our food come, and WOW, the sandwiches were huge with a pile of perfectly cooked melt in your mouth Brisket. I'm hard pressed to remember any better. The coleslaw was, well, different and hard to explain, but had a tangy mustard kind of taste. The fries on my buddy's plate were fantastic as well. The owner checked on us several times, and obviously valued us as customers. BBQ is huge in St. Louis and the big places and chains get all the attention. But if you want some seriously good BBQ in an authentic down home place, head to The Stellar Hog. Let me know by liking my review.

The depth of flavor was astonishing. I mean the rub is superb, and a few flaky ends tasted like beef jerky in the best way possible. Because of the thickness you get a multitude of textures, intensities. Every bite is roller coaster ride. Some send you straight out the milky way--incredible! The sides were good, but both missed the mark on elite for me. I would love to experiment with some others! Oh, and their house bbq sauce is splendid. Like that is legit stuff. Smoky, tangy, a hint of heat serves a reminder it's at the party, but not the reason you came. As far as bbq in stl goes, this is rightfully pitted as some of the most illustrious!
