Best Philly Steak EVER. Get the 6" Philly Steak with double flame sauce, and then when they give it to you, ask them to throw a little more flame sauce. This location is much better than the one in Hermosa Beach because there is both a place to park and a place to sit down and eat. Have you ever had a spicy roast beef, steak, or chicken sandwich before? I haven't. The taste was so unusual to me and I kept wanting to take more bites. I wanted to eat another sandwich after my first. I'm not kidding! I really wanted another spicy sub. We also had garlic french fries to go along with the sandwiches and I dare you to order these. They are SO garlic-infused! My whole office still smells like garlic. I had major lunch breath going on but I have to say I didn't care at all and I'd definitely order the garlic fries again. Other places have hints of garlic while Big Mike dumps a heap of chopped fresh garlic on top of the crispy fries. I went here with my boyfriend on his lunch break and when we first came here, it looked promising... we smelled the steak cooking from far away and of course I was excited due to the Yelp reviews here. We both got the steak sandwich and garlic fries combo. The steak sandwich was good and plenty... but... it didn't have the WOW factor. I was really expecting that, but it didn't deliver. Garlic fries were pretty good, though. I ate that mostly during our meal. The establishment is very casual and nice, and service was nice too as the cashier gave us suggestions for our meal and was accommodating. Being that is in the middle of Downtown El Segundo, the overall vibe is nice. Overall, the meal was good but it wasn't enough for me to come back. Nothing special at all. And the GARLIC FRIES ARE WEAK. The cheesesteak is decent, the chicken cheesesteak however is unseasoned and the pretty much the equivalent of a dick sandwich. Not that I've had one, but I imagine thats what it would taste like (to a straight man). The fries are obviously from a frozen bag they buy. And the garlic paste on them seems to be something they bought and not made in house. Dont waste your time with the onion rings either, they are nothing special...Dont get me wrong its not a terrible spot. go there for lunch, but dont rush. If your looking for freshly made good food. i LOVE this place. this is my go-to spot for lunch at work in el segs. unfortunately i haven't diversified my menu choices quite yet, i almost exclusively stick with the standard 6" or 12" cheese steak. the meat quality is amazing, their hot sauce and cheese taste great and are just hot enough - but if you don't like spicy then make sure you don't get the sauce. i've brought one genuine philadelphian here and he loved it, and gave it his stamp of approval. one thing i'm not a fan of is their garlic fries, as it's just fries that they throw a bunch of uncooked minced garlic on top of. this makes the after-taste/breath WAY stronger and the taste on the fries actually isn't that great. otherwise, i love it here. in addition they allow you to modify the combos, so i usually get a snapple instead of a fountain soda for a little bit extra. read more

As an El Segundo native and former resident of Philly, I can say that Big Mike's is as good of a cheesesteak as you're gonna get outside The City of Brotherly Love. I'm not a big onion fan, so I get mine "wiz wit-out." Regardless of onion preference though, you've gotta get it with wiz - Philadelphians don't have it any other way. My 5-star rating is also due to two other wonderful things: the abundance of Eagles paraphernalia, and THE TASTYKAKES (which I had given up on finding outside Philly..I was so happy I almost cried). As an El Segundo native, my favorite quickie food joint has got to be Big Mikes. I've never been to Philly (on my to-do's) to compare what an "authentic" cheesesteak tastes like, but their rendition just makes my mouth water. They fill their delicious bread loaves with all this meat and melted cheesy goodness, They offer all these additional toppings but my fav is just adding grilled onions. If you're a garlic fan, their garlic fries are an excellent compliment to a perfect meal. The best "fast food" that puts the hamburger to shame. read more

Came here to eat when I was dropping somebody off at the airport. It was decent, philly cheese steak wasn't anything special, if your a big fan of garlic though the garlic fries are pretty good, and trust me when I say they do not skimp on the garlic, and they are straight up pieces, so be sure not to eat this before going on a date or anything like that. Not sure when it happened as it had been a year or two since my last time here, but it definitely changed. I used to work right by this place and was here almost weekly, but when I changed jobs my frequency dropped to once a year when I'd have to make a journey out of it. First off, the fries. Used to be really good - not amazing, but solid fries. They've switched to skinny, "natural cut"-style fries, which have their time and place (ie In-N-Out) but here, they're reduced to skinny, flaccid disappointments. Second, the cheesesteaks, which used to be abundantly overflowing with deliciously crumbled/shaved steak, are now only moderately filled with steak of the sliced variety. Still a really good cheesesteak, but not one worth the 30 minute drive. One thing that has always been excellent and hasn't seemed to change is the bread. If I'm in the neighborhood, I'd still stop by, but again not worth going out of the way for. read more

I ordered a 12' cheese steak and 5 BBQ wings. The cheese steak had more meat than you could shake a stick at, I was overly impressed and stuffed from it. The only thing missing in this sub was some sort of sauce. It was a bit dry for me. I'm sure the true way to eat it is how it came but I added ketchup and ranch to sauce it up. Now the reason they really deserve this review are the wings. The wings are the biggest I've seen since I've been eating wings for the past 23 years of my life. The BBQ sauce on them were also just perfect and made for the greatest combo. The price for the however is a bit of a set back. 5 wings for $4.99. That's a dollar a wing. I'm use to getting a little better deal than that, but they were totally worth it. If you go here treat yourself to the BBQ wings. read more

Hate to leave bad review - but maybe the girl taking orders should listen better. We ordered fries on our order, repeated it 4 times, guess what - no fries on the order when it was ready. Also had to tell her 4 times that I wanted a soda. It's not that tough of a job to listen to people, and take an order.
