I had a combo beef and sausage and it was absolutely divine.One of the best I've had outside of the city!

This place advertises itself as "the best place you have never been to". I have to say that I was intrigued and checked it out. I tried it and won't be back .I found it to be VERY EXPENSIVE for what I got and was overcharged to boot. My grilled chicken sandwich tasted like it was grilled earlier in the day and just heated up until it turned into a piece of chicken jerky. Also, this place could use a good cleaning. it's a decent place, just, nothing spectacular (in terms of the food). The owner and staff is really friendly, but the rest of the place is just not special in my opinion.There are very limited diet friendly items and it's not the cleanest place around. I ordered chicken tenders, and these guys literally gave me one and a half tenders. One full piece, and a tiny bite sized piece. On top of that, fries were spilt all over my coworkers food. read more

The worst of the local hot dog places. The owner tried justifying his high drink prices by stating free refills. Well, does no good if you are not eating there. When it was pointed out, he got mouthy. Not good business. The chili dog was a mess, and sloppily made. One of the buns was hard, guessing from being stale. I will not come back to this place. For Chicago Style Hot Dog's Big Norms is the place to go. Tucked right in between Waukegan and Gurnee you will find this little charm that has a Chicago theme all over the walls. Signed photos of the Chicago Bears and a feel like you are smack dab in the middle of Chicago. Food is prepared in front of you with nothing to hide. I grew up on the Northwest side near Jimmy's and Wally's and I have to say we have our own right here in Lake County. They create a hot dog like it should be.. Best Italian beef. It's huge! The bread is chewy and absorbs all the juices without falling apart. The beef is tender and delicious. Get it hot. This place is tucked away in the burbs but definitely competes, if not beats, Italian beef in the city. read more

Went there today 6/4/18 ordered corn dog chicken tenders and a philly cheese fries and drink $20. I had told the guy that I wanted and mozzarella cheese instead of the cheese fries cheese so he messed up the order made me wait till he redid the order gave the Philly to the other guy that was working there so I asked him if I can have a cup of cheese for the long way and he still try to charge me. I was also there with my daughter and the guy cooking was cursing very rude and unprofessional would not recommend this place. read more

Double Jumbo combo "the usual Norm" is hands down the best hamburger ever. Fresh ingredients. The pickle chunks on it really makes this outstanding. Great value too. Get it cooked right now for you the way you like it and much better food at Micky D's prices. The Gyro's are second to none also. The do it right by grilling the Gyro meat after slicing. This make it a true Gyro. Beware places that don't grill the lamb. I eat at Norm's 2 to 3 time a week, and bring my co-workers who quickly become regulars also. The atmosphere was okay but the food portion was absolutely terrible for the amount of $$.. also it seems like the cook to never get the order how you ordered it... I don't think I'd ever go back... the website is telling me the rate the location by using Stars but I don't even think I would give it one star... so in order to complete this I have to put one star with regrets read more

Stopped in a few weeks ago after driving by the place many times. Had a taste for a gyro, not too many places to get a decent one out in the burbs really, so I wasn't sure what I'd find. Got a gyro, fries, and an extra side of sauce and it was $7.07. Not sure how it got that expensive considering I couldn't find just a plain gyro (not part of a combo) on the menu board. Later at home I looked at the take out menu and it SSS $4 for the gyro, $1.50 for the fries, so I'm guessing that 2 Tbsp of sauce cost me at least $.75, but the cashier didn't mention that. Anyway back to the food, fries were really good, very fresh, nicely salted, I'd put them on par with Culver's fries (same crinkle style). The gyro was a bit smaller than most I've had, but let's be honest, most places fill them TOO big! It turned out to be a perfect portion. The pita was nice and fresh, the meat was good, the kind that is on the spit. Tomatoes were ok, and the onions had a nice bit of kick to them. The sauce seemed freshly made, but I couldn't be sure. Service was nice, prompt, and friendly (mannerly even, I got called ma'm). The dining room has sports memorabilia on the walls (Cubs, Bears, Bulls), and has a cute hot dog place atmosphere, plenty of easy in and out parking. They have specials with sandwich, friend and a drink. Basically, a good local place for a quick burger, hot dog or gyro, eat in or carry out. I'll definitely be stopping by for more, trying out the other menu items! read more

I just went here and got wings that were hard and dry..The same person who took my order prepare my food with no gloves..I stood there waiting and when he pulled the wings up he put them in Basket where he put one wing at a time a paper bag..the phone range he answered it,and came to finishing preparing my order.. very disappointing in the service all around..Didn't even say have a Good Day!! read more

The Italian beef was weird... I asked for it dipped and when I got it the whole thing had a strange red color. The juice was more like grease. Growing up in Chicago, and having amazing beef, I have high expectations. This beef was the worst I've ever had! My husband got a hot dog, which was fine. Would not go back. read more

Been here a few times with the family. Pretty good dogs and burgers and I really enjoy there fries. Another plus is I never leave hungry!

Just had take out from Norms for lunch. I had the 2 hotdogs and fries meal. It was pretty good, the tomatoes were mealy and the pickle wasn't very crisp. I'll return but only during the summer when they would hopefully have fresher vegetables. The french fries were delish tho! read more

I can only review the hotdog meal. I wanted a Chicago hot dog with no ketchup and I got it! Came with a nice portion of fries. They were also good. Really fast service. I look forward to trying something new the next time I am in town. read more

Just had Big Norm's for the first time. Got the italian beef and cheese fries. It was pretty darn good! I will definitely get it again, and would recommend it. It was a tad pricey, but no different than any other hot dog stand type place. Have to remember it isn't fast food, it's better quality than that.
