Here's the email I sent to the Mountain View store. No response after several days. Also sent it thru their website after logging in. -------- Good morning, A couple weeks ago I came in for an oil change. You also rotated my tires. Thirdly, you generated a report that showed my car was out of alignment. You were able to adjust the front of the car, but not the rear. The paperwork said that you could not adjust it per the manufacturer. If I would have known that before I said yes to the alignment work, I would have asked for a 50% reduction in cost. I spent $89 for it. From what I understand, you were aware going in that that portion of the car could not be adjusted based on the type of car I have. I feel as though I have been taken advantage of. Extending the alignment warranty an additional 6 months like you did will not do the trick for me. Just got my wife's BMW new tires at this Big O location. The BMW dealership wanted $1800.00 to replace tires with alignment. I called around and talked to George(Jorge) at Big O in Mountain View. He was patient,knowledgeable and very kind. He worked with me on the price and saved me a lot of money. He was great! When I get new tires for my Toyota 4Runner I'm coming straight to George. Very professional and kind staff! This afternoon I brought my vehicle in for an alignment which I'd previously purchased as part of a 5 year alignment package. Because my purchased was made in another city, there was no record of it in their system. I also did not carry on my person a receipt to verify the purchase. David the store manager took pitty on me and offered to contact the store where the alignment package was purchased and verified that the information was correct, and They quickly performed my alignment setvice. I am happy to see that some people out there still believe in good customer service, God knows we need more of it. That phone call saved me over a hundred miles round trip, required to locate my receipt. Thanks again David! We are visiting from out of town for my daughter's sports tournament. We came out to a flat tire. Called around and Bill at Big O tires was the only one willing to help me out quickly. When we got there, he took care of us, repaired the tire quickly and had an awesome personality during our entire time there. What a super cool shop. I bring in the honda civic for an oil change. I paid and got the car back and I notice the car makes a metal crank sound on my apartment all 5 speed bumps. I took a look underneath and I see the problem in picture. Took the car back to the shop, manager look at it and ask the mechanic. Mechanic explained it is missing a screw to he try to zip tie it. They showed me the car is already damage (some plastic part broken), and add 3 more zip ties so its not scraping the bumps now. Now I am not a car guy, and I am 100% ok with their explaination of my car is already damage before. However, I have a problem with them not letting me know my car has damage at all and I have to find out myself. I also have a problem with them going through with oil change with knowledge they can't put the damaged car back in one piece. (Did not make metal crank before oil change) read more

I came here for an oil change and a tire inspection. I called them before arriving and they were able to take me as a walk in. Wait time was decent but not too crazy. They showed me the condition of my tires and explained what they could do for me. Very honest and not money hungry like most places are who try to take advantage of you. Unprofessional and stressed I made an appointment to replace a tire a week ago. Got a confirmation email (as attached) and phone call from them. When I visited, they have 2 representatives and 2 customers waiting for a line. Representatives are keeps phone calling to other customers. We are so tired to wait for their phone call. Finally, after 20 min... one guy ask me "what can do for you today". I said I have an appointment today to replace my tires. But he checked a PC and said "no appointments we have today". I felt this store is unprofessional and I don't want to start over a business conversation with them. Gave up. And went to America's tire instead. Just waste my time here. Not recommended. read more

Big O tires directly conned me into giving them business I would have otherwise taken elsewhere, using false advertising. They told me they had the tires I needed for my M3 (Michelin PS4S) available, so I placed an order. They called to confirm my order and collect my payment info, and a day or so later I got a call from the store saying that the tires had been delivered, and were ready for install. When I showed up at the store, I was told that they in fact did not have the tires, and they could not be ordered until 9 weeks from now. Conveniently, the salesman recommended I switch to a lower performance tire they happened to have available for a higher price. I believe Big O tires is running an organized bait-and-switch scam. They are falsely advertising the tires they have available, and extorting their captive customers (who show up with a flat) to pay more for an inferior product. My mistake: trusting Big O in the first place, to exist as a last place competitor in a market dominated by TireRack and America's/Discount tire. Exactly 0 people will be surprised when this location inevitably closes. I personally guarantee you will have a better experience at Costco. Boycott! read more

Sometimes I buy my parts or accessories at other places due to convenience or price, but I won't go anywhere else for servicing my car or trusting I'm getting a good quote. But zero stars for this place and Complaint to corporate or whoever is in management over this place: 1) An appointment was made at a specific time for a tire patch service - which we arrived on time 2) The place was busy so an estimated time of 1hr and a half was given 3) when I returned, the vehicle was still in the parking slot. When I checked in, the guy made a dash and said - ohh yah! You are next. *clearly the vehicle was forgotten* WHAT TRULY ANNOYS & Frustrates me is that a "20min job" turned into another additional 45min of waiting. A 3hr wait - on a weekend. AND I had a scheduled appointment that clearly wasn't honored. When I got my keys back - not even an apology. Just - keys- and go. So bad customer service. Yelp - there are other Big-o-tires in the area. Making an appointment online won't do anything for you at this location. This place clearly doesn't have good customer service. read more

Ordered some tires from tirerack and had them shipped to this place for installation. When I asked about the installation price the guy said $20 a tire. I remember the price begin $12 on tirerack. While I'm looking for the webpage to cite, he suddenly remembers that the price is discounted for tirerack purchases. The fact that big o tires website doesn't list prices gives the manager some leeway in pricing. Next, I asked that one of the old tires be moved to the spare tire trunk. He charged another $12 installation fee for that. Technically installation is mount + balancing. Finally the technician told me my control arm bushings were shot and needed replacing, quoting five hundred something. I declined and made a note of it and replaced them myself. I inspected the old bushings and they were actually fine. I wasted my time and money for parts. The whole experience left a bad taste. If I had a better experience I would have purchased tires from them directly next time. But now there won't be a next time. read more

Bill got me diagnosed, fixed, and out the door pretty fast for a day that was jam packed busy. It was affordable and he made me feel slightly less awkward and freaked out than I usually feel when trying to get my car fixed. I bought a set of snow tires online from tirerack.com and had them shipped to this BigO Tires shop in MtView with a few skeptics on the services since tire shop prefers you to buy from them. I was so wrong. The shop manager Mike went out of his way to accommodate my issues -- I brought in rims that may and may not fit with the tires from tirerack. He had his boyz mounted and balanced the snow tires on the rims I brough in, then swapped out the all-season set of tires with these new snow tires. Mike called me a few hours later and told me that it's done and the car is ready for pickup. The swapped out all-season set of tires are neatly wrapped in plastic bags, and packed in n the car for me to take home. This is great services. Thank you Mike and thank you to all the tire technicians working there. I will come to this shop for all of my tires needs. And yes, I would recommend this biz to my family and friends. read more

These prices are absolutely insane!!!! Asking for OVER $500 for a set (only 2) of struts. Online, you could buy an entire set (4 needed) for about $250 and even cheaper! And then 3 hrs to do the front and almost 3 hrs to do the rear. Now for the equipment they have with the supposedly training to do their job... doing these type of things on the daily... i would think they would move faster to do this job since they are not newbies. So, nice try. Im not as dumb as i look. Couldn't believe they wanted just about $2,000 for a job that another company quoted $300 for labor and i can provide the parts if i wanted to. I got the Groupon deal oil change for $29. Got an email to confirm my Jan 07 appointment at 9am on Dec 29. Indicated I will be waiting while they do it. I go in right at 9am and let them know I'm there for my 9am. Apparently the computer didn't tell them I have a groupon voucher so he writes it up for $32 after taxes and oil disposal fee. I tell the clerk I have a groupon, and apparently groupon vouchers do NOT include the oil disposal fee, so it's $37 total with groupon and I'd have to pay the difference. But he did offer the Big 0 deal, tire rotation included. So I figure ok 5 bucks no big deal. They know I'm waiting but can't get to my car until 10:08. When they are done, I notice that the passenger side rims have 1 balancing weight on them each. The driver's side front has 3 weights on it, and the rear has 2. Exactly the same as when I came in. So either they only rotated the passenger side...or didn't do it at all. I told the manager this after the kid in the work bay insisted he had rotated the tires. He apologized and at that point I said I'll just go to where I bought the tires, America's Tire later where it's free anyway because by then it's 11 and I wanted to leave. read more

STAY AWAY, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! I brought my Mini Cooper in for a simple oil change on 11/5, a very simple and straight forward process. They eff-ed up three big items! RED FLAG 1: Two days later, I found oil patch on my driveway, dripping from oil plug. I brought the car back to them on 11/12 and figured that they didn't replace the crush washer. They replaced the crush washer and oil (see red flag 2). After I drove home, I realized that it's still leaking. I brought it back on 11/18, and they start giving me the BS on how the shop that did the previous oil change stripped the thread on the oil pan and that I need to replace my oil pan. I have had the car for two years and it has always been bone dry. They stripped my oil pan and tried to point finger at someone who replaced my oil 5000 miles ago! RED FLAG 2: From the first time I found patches of oil on my drive way, the oil appeared very dirty and black, indication of them not changing the oil. On the second visit on 11/12, they took the dip stick out and agreed that it's a little dirty, but BS me again on how it's normal as it was already a week since the oil change. In that one week, I only drove less than 20 miles. Another technician who looked at it told me that maybe the engine is dirty, and that I will see oil looking fresh when he drained it out to replace the crush washer. He started draining and all the oil look dirty and black, at no point during the draining that we saw any fresh oil. His gave me a flat face and told me he will replace all of them with fresh oil. RED FLAG 3: When I visit for the third time on 11/18, we found coolant leak. They started acting like "oh you have a coolant leak, do you want us to take a look at it and fix any issue?". No way in hell I would let them touch my car again. I drove it to a mechanic near my house and found out that they broke a hose when they remove the coolant reservoir when replacing my oil filter. After spending total of 6 hours at Big O Tire in three separate visits, my car came back in a much worst condition. I'm still waiting for the final bill on how much damage this shop has caused me for just a simple oil change. read more

I arrived at 4:05 p.m. . It took 25 minutes to admit me. There was no line. I was then quoted $135 for an oil change and a general inspection which I never asked for. I then explained I need the only the oil change, again. then they said it would take an hour and a half to change the oil. There was no line. I explained that I have to leave by 5:30 and they as they assured me they will do their best. It took them 1 hour 15 minutes to change oil. They didn't let me go before they gave me a quote of $397 to replace one tire. When I thought I was finally done with this joke I realized that the oil change alert in the car is still on and was never reset so have to drive out there again to fix this issue. Second experience here, disappointed again. Most unprofessional customer service. They are close to my home, so went in for an oil change, Saturday. Guy at counter told me they were very busy, to 'come back Monday.'. Called Monday for an appointment. Put on hold for 6 min - no problem , may be busy, I decided to call back. Lady on the line makes me an appointment for Monday afternoon. Walk in, guy at counter takes one look at me and says 'come back tomorrow'. When I said I have an appointment, he rudely challenged me if I have a confirmation number (no hello, no offer to make me an appointment etc). I ignored him and spoke to the girl at the other counter who had made my appointment on the phone. She arranged the oil change. I left the car to be worked on. I concerns with the work. Prior experience. Had small leaks on two tires. Came in with a big-o-tire coupon for a free flat fix. I offered to pay for the second tire assuming the coupon only worked for one tire. Same guy above, did an inspection, told me I needed to change my tires due to wear, he would not fix the leak. May be he is concerned about my safety or may be he is just trying to sell me on tires and not honor their own offer? . There are multiple oil change places and tire replacement shops in the area locally where you will find professional and competent service, that you might consider. read more

I went to get new tires and have them check the front end because of an odd sound I heard from the right side when turning sharply in reverse. They came back with a laundry list of parts and service that "needed" to be done, including left and right control arms, front strut complete assembly, shocks, and sway bar link. Total was almost $3,000. I decided to get a second opinion from my Toyota dealer who has always worked on this car. They put it up on the lift and showed me that all the parts that Big O wanted to replace were in good condition, and reminded me that I had some of that same work done, at Toyota, just a year prior. So the Big O guys were just trying to scam me. Now let's talk about the tire purchase. This is for a 10 year old minivan. They tried to sell me $260 tires, claiming they had no other tires that would fit my van. A Sienna. Like the most common van on the planet. Of course when I said no, some more affordable tires miraculously showed up. Finally, for the alignment they asked if I wanted t a 6 month, 12 month, or 18 month alignment. WTF? This refers to how long they warranty the work. Never heard of such a ridiculous thing. read more
