This place is your stereotypical rip off garage. Everything is an up sale, nothing costs what it should. 3 Months ago I took my BMW there to get a new set of tires. After looking at my car the sales guy came back and told me I needed to replace my brake pads, change the oil and power steering fluid. The price he quoted me for the brakes was over $1000. This all sounded fishy to me because I change my own oil and do so regularly and I had recently changed out my power steering fluid as well. The next day I took my car to my regular BMW service shop to check out my brakes. They informed me that I had 2-3,000 miles of life left in them and that a replacement would cost around $450 (also my oil and fluids were fine). Long story short, avoid Big O Tires unless you like over paying for unnecessary work! read more

Brandon provides the very best customer service! I unfortunately had a camshaft sensor failure in my Altima and Big O took great care of my car. We are back on the road after a catastrophic electrical failure. If you own an Altima, I would get it checked out for sure. I was driving down the road and my car just died...no power, no steering and no brakes. Pretty scary. But again, Brandon and Big O took great care of me. Apparently, I am good for another 10 years. Had a nail in my tire today. Called Big O they said they could get me right in. Service was very friendly, but sadly also very slow. There were no cars being worked on when I pulled up yet it still took a hour to patch the tire. Took 10 minutes just ring up the $25 repair. Went to Big O Tires for years for tire and alignment service. However, on this last visit, the car handled very poorly after getting 4 new tires and an alignment. Whenever I braked, the back of the car would try to swing out. I called back, asking nicely about the problem, but the representative on the phone was defensive and said it must be my brakes and I should come back for a brake inspection. Since this didn't sound right, I took it Auto Medics, which are great, and they fixed it quickly by finding out the two bolts holding the lower control arm were loose on the right rear. This also meant the car was out of alignment. I took it back to Big O Tire asking them to reimburse me for the labor I had to pay to the other shop since they created the problem. Not only did they deny they loosed the bolts, and refused to pay for the fix, but they put my life in danger. I contacted the corporate office and the shop continued to be defensive and aggressive without even a simple apology. Total waste of time and money. Will not go back. read more

Wish I could leave 0 star review. These guys are idiots. My tires were leaking air so I came back (twice) each time they filled the tires and told me sorry we couldn't find anything wrong. They claimed to have leak checked everything but there was no evidence. Horrible. I bought the Groupon. Big mistake. Every time I try and make an appointment to get the oil changed they have more stipulations on the Groupon. The first time I made an appointment the guy told me they are only accepting 5 Groupons per day. The next time I called to make an appointment they told me they only accept 3 Groupons per day. Now when I called they said they only accept 2 Groupons per day and the only appointment times they accept the Groupons are 11am and 1pm. And, no where on the Groupon does it say they limit the amount of Groupons they accept. One time I booked an appointment to get the oil changed and when I went down there they said I didn't have an appointment and refused to change my oil. I was informed that since my last visit this location had gone to private ownership. Which in my opinion is a plus in this area. I and most of the regulars in this town have grown accustomed to that small town, independently owned feel. Service was great. Brandon was very friendly and professional. I dropped off the truck for an oil change and had a few minor things to be addressed. For 1 when making left turns I heard a knocking coming from the sway bar and my right turn light burnt out. These two issues could have been a huge hole in my pocket if not for their honesty. Some mechanics would have just replaced major suspension components or electrical systems just to run up the bill and it may have been justified due to mileage on my truck. In my case a bolt was coming loose and it was a simple $10 light bulb change for the tail light. Oil was promptly changed, knocking noise has so far been corrected, tires rotated, tires inflated to factory specification, and tail light is fixed. The were all courteous and friendly. Do not purchase a Groupon for this place!!! Better yet, don't even go!! The assistant manager, Steve, is not only condescending but seriously lacks in customer service. When I brought my car in, the technician said it would be no problem and a half hour wait at most. When the assistant manager realized I had a coupon, he claimed it would be at least be three hours!! Based on the unethical way they handled my coupon and their substandard staff I would definitely not recommend doing any type of service here. While driving in San Clemente the other day, I noticed one of my tires was low. I popped in to Big O and they took care of me immediately. Turned out it was only a leaking valve stem, so they fixed it in 10 minutes. I started to pay them and was told, "Don't worry about it." Hands down the best customer service I've ever received at an auto servicing establishment. Had a part break on me that was installed here. I brought it in and there was a disconnect because it was a corporate warranty and not a store warranty. The manager of the store, Brandon, not only called corporate for me but ensured that the part was replaced personally and called me to keep me informed of the process. They have worked with me in getting my vehicles ready for long trips down south and even on a day notice for tires, alignment and quick check of truck. My car started smoking on the freeway on my way to a wedding on the 4th of July. They were the only shop open and every person who there was extremely helpful and kind to me which is more than I would expect out of people working on a holiday. They assessed the problem and solved it. My car had about 2x the amount of oil in it from a botched oil change at a different mechanic. They let it drain overnight to get the extra oil out of the motor and didn't up charge me on any extra services. I'm so thankful to these guys. They turned what could have been a disaster into a best case scenario for a crumby situation. read more

This place is pretty expensive. They charged $36 per tire more than what was quoted on the website. Also, a 4-wheel alignment was $130. My last alignment at a different shop was $60. Other than the surprise pricing it was a so-so experience. I probably won't return unless I have a firm quote in writing first. read more

Big O Tires in San Clemente is Amazing! I brought my 2010 Camry to get new tires and a brake inspection done. Brandon at Big O Tires hooked me up with a good set of tires at a great price. When his guys inspected the Brakes he called me and told me that he didn't feel like I needed to spend the money on new brakes. Then he aligned the tires at a discounted rate. Brandon wasn't out to take my money, which is extremely easy to do in the Auto repair industry, instead he told me the truth and saved me from spending an extra $200. I was watching over my friends car while he was in the field training (we are both Marines). I noticed his tire had a flat so I decided to take his car in to get the tire plugged/patched for him since he's away. I was honestly worried about the cost/time but Brandon and the rest of the guys at Big O really hooked it up. The customer service was excellent and far exceeded my expectations. I figured it would take awhile but they were done before I could finish my coffee at Starbucks. When I went to ask how much I was being billed, Brandon just looked me in the eye, shook my hand, thanked me for my service and told me not to worry about it.
