It's a good place to grab a coffee and snack. We ran thru on our way to work. They were quick to make our drinks and were super friendly. The space is comfy with an upstairs area. They sell some Christian books which I don't actually understand why but it's their biz.

Big River Coffee: Chai tea with oat milk and a vegan brownie
    Chiemi N.

The first time I came into Big River Coffee, it wasn't a great experience. There weren't any vegan baked goods, they have a vegan breakfast sandwich with impossible sausage. The day that I came in last summer was during a heat wave and they weren't doing any cooking. Decided to give them another chance, so glad I did! The coffee shop is close to home. There are comfy chairs, which I look for in a coffee spot. I love to read while savoring a beverage and snack. I guess they usually have other vegan baked goods, but today they were out, but had a brownie. Brownies are one of my least favorite baked goods, but hey, beggers can't be choosy! I enjoyed spending an afternoon reading my novel along with a Chai Tea with oat milk. They have a couple other dairy alternatives. I also had the aforementioned brownie. The atmosphere is nice and pleasant with artwork adorning the walls. It's spacious and there's an upstairs that I can see people sitting upstairs from where I sit. I did not venture upstairs because I found the perfect spot to sit and read and watch the comings and goings of other patrons!

Saw the Big River Coffee sign while I was driving out of the new Reeds Crossing shopping area and stopped in for a late morning coffee. The breakfast sandwich had typical fillings but the star was the coffee! I got the honey and cinnamon toast latte, and it was exactly the right combination of those ingredients!

LEAD bagels. Do NOT order a bagel. It was cold and disgusting.

Just wow. I was so looking forward to trying this place out. We arrived on a Wednesday morning. The 2 girls behind the counter not only did not welcome us in, they made us feel like we were doing them a favor by ordering. SOOO rude! Do NOT get a bagel - they are like LEAD! Theeee worst bagels I've ever had in my life. The pastries looked pathetic in their display. Thankfully Dutch Bros. is down the block and they have FANTASTIC service.

If you like dark bitter coffee, this place is your jam. Me on the other hand? I clearly have a sensitive palate that comes alive by the tender balance of slightly bitter, sweet, and complex richness of a vanilla latte and white chocolate mocha. Sadly, this was one of the worst lattes and white mochas I've had. Had I been in the cafe I would have asked them to modify it but we went through the drive through as we were heading out for the day. Driving while improperly caffeinated can be a real hazard. But did I die? No, so I guess all is ok.

Kid's lemon gelato had a weird stringy texture.

We ( me and my 21 yr old) were so excited to have a new coffee place with a drive thru on our reg route that was not Starbucks, Black Rock, Human Bean, or Dutch Bros. With some different food items including gelato, which we adore, natch. We like variety. The building looks fancy! Honestly, our experience was not that great. We used the drive through and she was nice. Kids hot chocolate was not very hot and not anything amazing. My iced vanilla latte was not remotely vanilla-y (I wish I had read Stephanie's review first) and they did not have soy milk. Reg milk is tough on me and I cannot do almond, coconut, or oat. It is nice they offer those though, I guess. Kid's lemon gelato tasted lemony but it was slimy and oddly stringy...with ice crystals. My salted caramel gelato did taste ok but was also texturally off. Just not very good. My credit card didnt work in their reader at all. Embarassingly, cars lined up behind us while we tried a few times. Nope. It worked the very next place we went so it was not me. I don't know if we would go back. Maybe we will give them a little time to work on things. The worst part? We ditched my drink and kid's gelato and went straight to Black Rock. Oh well.

We visited this coffee shop primarily to play board games, and it was a fantastic spot for that! The ambience was cozy and relaxing, with the pleasant background sounds of coffee being made. The upstairs seating area was a highlight. I loved that the tables were surrounded by windows on all sides. We didn't try the food, but the tea was decent. To be fair, we weren't really there for the drinks, so that wasn't our focus. Service was good. Nothing extraordinary, but the barista was friendly.

Great coffee, friendly barista and they have a cozy fireplace! I'd come back again. Oh and a selection of breakfast bagels was great too!

    Pumpkin patch shaken espresso

The service was great but the coffee is terrible. I got the the pumpkin patch shaken espresso with oat milk, it was way too sweet and a waste of money. The religious hobby lobby signs are a bit nauseating too. Glad I tried out this place but probably won't return.

This is a GREAT spot to either meet with friends, bring a laptop and get some work done or get cozy on one of the stuffed chairs to read a book. I sat upstairs to work alongside a friend, but there was a fireplace downstairs that I really wanted to sit by cuddled up with a book! I tried a blackberry lavender mocha, it was okay but I'll probably stick to my regular next time. There are lots of tasty pastries available and a drive through for those on the go.

As someone who usually hates sauerkraut the Reuben was actually enjoyable which was a surprise to me. Mainly due to one INCREDIBLY rude employee, who i am going to assume is the manager, or something close, considering she was the only one in plain clothes, and not in a uniform or server outfit. This woman was an absolute walking nightmare. First off, we came in around 1pm. Mind you, this location closes at 3pm. So immediately, after we walked in, we stood there for a good minute or so before one of the FIVE employees, including nightmare manager lady, who were standing on, in or around the front counter ask "table for two?".. as the manager slowly grabbed our menus to hand to the server, i immediately noticed she had an attitude. Almost like she was annoyed we were coming to eat.. I shook it off, we sat down. We had our small dog in a stroller, so we had asked to eat outside. The outside area was busy. It is a sunny 70+ degree day so we asked for as much shade as we could get. The server pointed us towards a table with one half completely in the sun. We pointed to the 3-4 tables behind us that were in full shade. The server said they just closed that section. Umm ok, but, not the severs fault that the available tables were in the sun.. so, ok, no problem. We sat down. It took our server a while to get to us, but she was hustling and doing very her best. When she got to us she was gracious and very friendly. She was also very accommodating when we ask for our meal to be split to share. I wish i had gotten her name because she was the only nice part of our experience today and she was a lovely young lady. So, as we waited for our food, my mother was getting uncomfortable in the direct sun. I offered to switch seats, but she just tried to move her chair more to the side, towards the inner isle. Nightmare manager whips out of the door and VERY rudely, and loudly, barks at my 74yr old mother "mam, that's just not going to work! It's too narrow in here!" Everyone looked at us as she yelled this at my mother. At this point, most of the tables outside were emptying. So i said "could we maybe switch tables? She's just very uncomfortable in the sun." this nightmare of a human throws her hand up at us, like IN OUR FACES, and in a very annoyed voice says "you gotta give me a minute " and darts past us. We were floored. My mom and I look at each other like "huh?!?" There is now very few people left in the entire restaurant, inside or out. So it was pretty clear it was less about being busy and more that she was simply in "i want to close up and go home" mode. But hey, food service can be stressful, i get that. What i don't get is yelling at customers like they're your five year old. At this point the servers are wiping down the tables and stacking chairs. Mind you, it's only been roughly 20 min. So it's about 1:30pm.. again, they close at 3pm. But they were all clearly in shut down mode.. So when nightmare manager lady doesn't come back, we asked another server if we could move. She looks around at the empty tables, that are now 100% in the shade, and is like "ummmmmmmm, sure?" I said "great!" Got up and move to the shadiest table. Then nightmare manager whips outside again, and, as we are picking up our our silverware and water cups, this woman shoves next to my mom, who fumbling with her water glass, purse and silverware, and begins wiping the table down before we even retrieved our things. She says nothing to us. Her body language was aggressive and she was obviously very annoyed. Annnnnd that's when I called it. We hadn't even received our food. We got up and left, while I chipped "you can tell them to just throw our food away. You've been incredibly rude and we're done" and we left. This woman ruined a lovely Sunday afternoon i was spending with my mother. She was annoyed and rude the second we interacted with her. She may be stressed out, but to treat customers with such obvious distain, is unacceptable. This woman clearly can't handle the pressure.. so i HIGHLY recommend they get her out of the kitchen, LITERALLY! To this nightmare woman, i am so sorry we annoyed you with our business today. Don't worry, we will not be back..

The owner of Reedville called me today and sincerely apologize for the situation that took place lastnight! I wasn't asking for anything but an apology last night and that did not come from the manager, but the owner was not pleased and is more than adequately taking care of things for us! I have to say that says a lot about his business ethics! After talking to him I understand he is in a really tough spot! He is a new owner and trying to live up to the expectations of his customers who have been coming there for many years! He is trying to keep things the way that Rick had them so it keeps customers happy but there are things he would like to change (the meal we had lastnight is one of then) but he is afraid to ruin the reputation of the restaurant by making changes to quickly! He is keeping the menu consistent with the original menu and recipes and hoping the customers will be willing to accept that some changes can be good, so he can possibly try new things! I really do appreciate him calling me back and at least apologizing and recognizing that the situation that happened last night was not appropriate! With all that said, because of him I will give them another try! I hope that others will too! Let's all give him a little time to get settled and hope that he will continue to make good changes, that continue to please the public! Thank you very much! Original review: HORRIBLE, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! QUALITY WENT DOWN THE DRAIN!!! There are lots of the other restaurants out there that have quality and stand behind their business We have been long time customers at Readville Cafe, tonight we received an order that was nothing short of a Denny's restaurant! We called and complained to the manager and all she did was offers to come in on a Tuesday and get a senior discount! Seriously???? I said why would I come back in for food that was inferior and you're not even going to stand behind? She said, well all I can say is our recipes haven't changed so, next time you come in don't order that! Because of her response I certainly wouldn't go back and I really think that other people should think about it themselves! Like I said to her, If your food hasn't changed then you should be willing to stand by your Recipe/Quality because, today, it is not good! The chicken fried steak looked like a little thin hamburger patty with some kind of cheap breading, like it a premade store-bought processed patty. Typically chicken fried steak is a chicken breast pounded out with a crunchy breading that is deep fried. The vegetables stink!!! They were hard and smelled rotten, like the broccoli and cauliflower were old! The gravy was just short of a packaged gravy you could make from the grocery store! The manager would not budge on belief of our experience, stating their food was high quality and nothing had changed in years. She was rude and was not even apologetic , she would not offer a discount and didn't care that she had an unhappy customer! If this is how they run their business then people should think hard about going there! This certainly NOT the Reedville Cafe that it always has been! The old owner and manager, Rick, would never have treated customers like that!, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! QUALITY WENT DOWN THE DRAIN!!! There are lots of the other restaurants out there that have quality and stand behind their business
