One of the new additions to the Steel District in downtown Sioux Falls. The interior gives a diner feeling which is warm and inviting. The servers were attentive and friendly. The food came out relatively quickly however I believe our expectations were set too high regarding the taste since it was a new restaurant and there was a lot of hype. We will give it another try eventually but overall I would give Big Sioux Burger a "Meets Expectations" rating. PROS - Great atmosphere. Tons of wall decal and neon lights - Large tap beer selection - Great outdoor seating - Great food presentation - Lots of bar seating - Walking distance to the Falls Park CONS - Beware that the Big Sioux burger has a special sauce that is a tad bitter. Others may like it but we were not fans. - Parking is limited if you want to park within the Steel District area. You may have to park on Phillips Ave. - The menu is a tad short. Just a good burger. The tots are good. Kind of loud but it is sort of a sports bar so I guess it's acceptable. They gave me a parking pass for the adjoining parking garage. I like it a lot! read more

We had a dinner for 4 at Big Sioux. When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted and seated. The staff was friendly and attentive. We tried a house salad (added our own pouch salmon for the person with dietary restrictions), the big pretzel (liked the mustard more than the cheese), an onion burger (verrrrrrrry good!), and a PBJ burger (thoroughly enjoyed). Also tried a unique cocktail which had whiskey, came de cacao and couple more ingredients - delicious but more of a dessert martini. My girlfriend and I went there for dinner prior to a concert on a Sunday night. The restaurant wasn't busy except for a larger party in the corner - about 8 people. I wasn't worried as there seemed to be an adequate number of people working the front of the house. We were promptly seated and served our drinks. The waitress was attentive until it came time order food. It took longer than I expected as did the serving of our second round of drinks and our meal. I ordered the pierogi appetizer and the Rueben. Both were good. My girlfriend ordered the burger. She found it bland. I tried and it tasted as though the meat wasn't seasoned. The manager was attentive and extremely apologetic about the timeliness of the service. He even comped the appetizer (a great touch). Kudos to him for a) noticing and b) being pro-active. I enjoyed the ambiance. Definitely an upscale "dive" bar. Overall a nice experience. We will likely return. read more

I took my fiancé out for a nice lunch date and Big Sioux Burger definitely delivered! The burgers were juicy and the fries were well seasoned but I think the onion rings stole the show! Service was great and very time efficient! I will say that one of my favorite parts of Big Sioux Burger was the atmosphere and the scenery as it is by the Sioux river! I had the Rueben w/chips and the hubby had the House Burger w/fries. Everything came out hot and fresh. The service was good and the atmosphere was great. The fries were cold, the burger was salty, and service was weird. My husband loves salty foods but barely ate half of it.

The place is nice, but the beef tallow they use in the fryer gives the fries a weird (not good) flavor. The server was kind enough to compensate us by not charging for the fries. read more

It's a long walk to get there if you have a family member with disabilities. We got inside and were seated just fine. There are only a couple tables that will work for disabilities. The staff didn't know answers about gluten free food, but did go to the kitchen a couple times to ask. I know this is a brand new place, but the burgers were just okay. They could be so much better. The meat was bland and the French fries had no original taste. One member of the party ordered a giant pretzel and she said it was great. I heard the owners are from the Cities and I guess I was hoping for a unique burger to add to our awesome downtown. I'll try it again and hope for improvement. read more

Went here today for first time. From 3 to 6 you get a burger, fries, and a tap beer for only $10. Food was delicious, service was fast and friendly. Loved how the booths you could enter or exit from either side and great design inside. I was recommended to this place by a friend. Will definitely return. read more

What a cool place! Took the family there for dinner. Great menu options, food was great and easy to say it's going to be hard to find a better burger in the area. I had the PBJ burger and my wife had the wedge burger. I would highly recommend either. Beyond the food, what really stood out was the service we received. Our waitress was Abbey. She was very sweet and attentive. As a matter of fact, after we left, my wife went back to ask her name because she was that great. I highly recommend this place if you want great food and service. We were there for the opening night. I can say we were greeted and quickly seated. All of the staff were friendly and even chatted a little after we were finished with our meals. The menu had something that seemed intriguing--an onion burger. I had to try it. My wife had pierogies. Both were quite good. The pricing was pretty normal. All of the sides are a la carte. The fries had an offer of 1/2 order and I am glad I went for that. The fries are normal, nothing special, but they tasted fine. The only thing I would say they should consider is the level of the music and style. The people in the restaurant were almost all above 50, but the music was something I would expect for a 20 something. Sat at the virtually empty bar and waited at least 10 min before we got a menu and drink order taken. After another 10+ min still no waters or drinks. A staff member walked up to the bar and ordered a beer and got it after a fun little convo with a manger and the bartender/ server. Ended up asking for a wine and beer since the specialty drinks hadn't even been started. Many staff members standing around and chatting. Maybe 10 tables had people at them. Received our food after about 45 min. They forgot the fries, so they went back and got them. Fries were cold and my bun was smashed and dry like it was stale. My boyfriend's bun was fine and his tater tots were hot. Took one bite of the smash burger and realized it was raw. We asked for our tab, paid and left. She took our trays and didn't even ask why we didn't eat any of it. Manager took trays from her to take back and also never came and talked to us. Very disappointed in the absolute bait and switch from this new establishment in Sioux Falls. Came in tonight to try the burger of the month- the grilled cheese burger. I never go out to eat and did my "research" before spending my money. The establishment has several pictures and videos on their yelp, google review, and their social medias of this burger they are promoting showing a liquid cheese pull situation, but the burger is actually basically a half slice of Kraft cheese. The soup also was most definitely Campbell's, when the pictures show a light and creamy homemade soup. It's not even that the burger was particularly bad it's just very, very dishonest advertising and for that I will never do business here again. The nacho burger also just had dried, stale tortilla chips. To pay $18 for a burger that comes with no sides and a half slice of Kraft cheese is ridiculous. There are too many established and good burger options in the area to lie like this and expect returning business. Avoid spending your money here. Hard earned money for nothing. Very much reminds me of how McDonald's posts a juicy burger photo then delivers cheap crap. Lame cocktail menu selection. What an awesome location too, cute diner vibes. Sad. I didn't mention any complaints to the wait staff because it isn't their fault. read more

Big Sioux Burger is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with friendly service. It's got the feel of an old diner mixed with the finesse of a modern bar scene. I ordered the grilled cheese burger and tomato soup which was the burger of the month for February. The flavors are incredible--juicy, perfectly seasoned patties with fresh toppings that take every bite to the next level. The combo of the burger, cheese, fresh tomatoes, and tomato soup were a party on my tastebuds. Big Sioux Burger was a nice place to eat and visit with good friends.
