A great family owned restaurant with excellent service, amazing ambiance, and the finest Thai food in the entire Houston area!

    Lunch Chicken Pad Thai takeout
    Brian T.

Super impressed that Lake Jackson has a decent Thai restaurant. Grabbed lunch for takeout here on a weekday and I was pleased. I got the chicken pad thai lunch special, which was $9 (beef and shrimp are an additional $2 if you prefer those protein options). The pad thai was really good and had a deep peanuty flavor, which I really like in my Thai food. Flavor-wise, this was comparable to some of my fav Thai spots in Houston. One complaint I have for takeout lunch is that it doesn't include the side salad. I've had this before when dining in and was looking forward to it but unfortunately, the salads are strictly for dine-in. It's disappointing to me that you pay the same price for the lunch special in both the dine-in and takeout scenarios - the takeout just has less food (no side salad). I'm not sure if they somehow compensate by giving a slightly larger portion size but regardless, it's an off-putting impression that you're getting gipped when doing takeout. Another complaint I have is that I had to wait almost 10 minutes to get helped when I arrived at the hostess stand to pick up my food. Several waitstaff walked by but it wasn't until a good amount of time later that one of them actually acknowledged someone was waiting. Why all the hate for takeout customers!? Definitely can be improved upon.

    The garlic pepper dish

DISAPPOINTED. With stellar reviews on Yelp and Google I'm thinking my experience will be similar. I ordered a ton of food to try because I'm in the area on a work assignment and my location doesn't have many food options. The shrimp roll appetizer 1/5. The rice paper it was fried in was soggy not crisp. The overall shrimp roll had no flavor even after pulling out the shrimp from its fried rice paper roll. Would not recommend. Coconut soup with chicken. Chicken is overcooked, the soup is very watery and although it is dense with mushrooms, chicken and some vegetable can't remember if bamboo shoots or green onions, it lacked flavor. I usually SLURP coconut soup but I sipped it like tea because I didn't want my money to waste. 1/5 would not recommend Ordered the garlic pepper chicken because the lady who took my order recommended it over Panang curry. Flavor is there and the beef is tender. But BEWARE the dish is filled with black peppercorns so that unexpected crunch can throw you for a loop. ESPECIALLY when you find some sliver of whatever you want to call what was embedded in my rice. I was so disgusted after dumping the rice in the box container on my plate to warm it up and I saw that. Won't be returning or supporting this place again.

Yellow chicken curry, very good flavor!

Yes. Thai tea was perfect. Got the coconut soup with chicken and it was delicious though I do wish it had more spice. I will be returning.

I have never stepped foot inside the restaurant so I have zero idea how the service is or if it is clean. This review is solely based on the food taste. I usually get hot and sour soup, "cream cheese puffs" and general tso's chicken. It is really a hit or miss. Sometimes the food is great. It will be hot and flavorful. Other times, like tonight it was tasteless and bland. The hot and sour soup barely had any flavor. It was hot. The cream cheese puffs were probably the best thing of the night. However the dipping sauce is a really watered down version of a sweet and sour. I am not sure if they water it down to cut cost or if it is just because it is Sunday. Usually General Tso's is zesty and spicy, but it seriously lacked any flavor tonight. Again, maybe it was an off night. Sunday at 7pm might not be the best time to order here. Keep in mind this is just standard Chinese takeout style food. So again, it is just hit or miss. Good luck, I hope you get it on a good night.

Ambiance (3.5/5): Thai Stellar is a small but nice restaurant. We were seated at a booth. I love a good both, and that is what most of the seating consists of at this Thai restaurant. Service (4.5/5): Overall, the service was quite good. Efficient and attentive. Two of the main things I look for. Drinks (3.5/5): I ended up going with an orange soda, because the da chanh, fresh lemonade, was quite pricey. I couldn't justify it. Food (4/5): I went with the combination pad see ew which comes with chicken, beef, and pork. Pad see ew is my favorite Thai dish and it is done at a high level here. The noodles are perfection. The sauce is perfection. And there's a good amount of meat. It's a little pricey though I get that you're getting three meats. That seems to be the trend at Thai Stellar. We stayed away from the satay appetizer for the same reason and opted for the more affordable egg rolls (2). Which were crispy and complimented nicely by some sweet chili sauce. Overall, excellent food. Just more than you would expect to pay at a neighborhood restaurant in the suburbs.
