Private parking lot Stopped by around 3pm, power went out at work, so go get cake! A couple of people at the bar and in the dining area. Was greeted with a friendly hello and then I jetted to the restroom. Restrooms where very clean and easy to locate by the bar. I headed over to the bakery section. Oh my decisions to be made, so many choices. I had been craving a good and moist strawberry shortcake (hate dry cake) and they did not disappoint. This cake was so moist and packed with fresh strawberries. Huge slice for just $5 and I got the carrot cake as well. Packed to go nicely and with care. I will definitely go back for more cake and hopefully will have time to dine in one day soon. read more

This review for Morgan R was EXACTLY our experience last night - the chicken pot pie - which was a favorite for several years - has changed for the worse! The pastry is now icky, the sauce runny, the chicken tasteless and very few veggies .... Also ordered the Brussels sprouts with the "bacon glaze" on the side - don't bother - the "glaze" is basically Aunt Jemima pancake syrup with bacon bits floating in it. My husband and I have been going to the Big View since we moved here 10 years ago. We went for breakfast today. Very disappointed, the food wasn't bad, but very lackluster compared to the food quality experienced in the past. The service was OK, but then nothing to brag about, again based on past experience. Love the staff at Big View! We came in on a weekday morning for a birthday breakfast for my son and his friends before middle school. The staff was welcoming, made our experience awesome. We haven't been in a few years so hubby and I decided to revisit. We had a short 10 min wait for a Friday night at 7pm. The wait used to be long. The service is always great and the staff very friendly but the food has declined a lot (thus the 3 stars). I ordered the Waldorf salad and a side of onion rings (safe basic options) They were good. My hubby ordered the Chicken Pot Pie and he said it was bland and not good at all. It looked strange to me. He told our server and she said she wouldn't charge since he didn't like it, (even though we offered to pay anyway) He ordered a waffle and sausage instead. He said it was good. I ordered the bread pudding for dessert and it was the worst I've ever had. It was just dry, tasteless bread with a side of ice cream. I didn't send it back because we didn't want to complain again. I had a wonderful lunch here with a friend. There are a lot oof options in the menu, but if you are a vegetarian it is limited. They have the impossible burger but I am not a fan so I dIdn't try it. I opted for the Salmon sandwich with fries instead. It was delicious. I do wish they had more vegetarian options and a regular veggie burger. If you are a meat eater there is plenty to choose from. The waitress was very sweet and checked in on us often. I enjoyed the service. They have a full bar area if you just want a cocktail or to watch a game. There is plenty of seating in the dining area for small and large groups. They bake their own baked goods there so get ready for desert. I was too fUll afterwards to have any myself. Really wanted this to work as they are so close and they have mimosas, but unfortunately the entire experience was below average at best. Yes, the parking lot always seems to be full, and they definitely have a loyal and hearty following, but it was a swing and a miss on both occasions for us. The food was fine, so no issues there, but the service both times was inattentive at best and dismissive at worst, as it felt like they almost didn't care whether we were there or not. One of my biggest pet peeves is the disappearing server who you don't see for most of the meal except when it comes time to pay, then magically they are all smiles and quick to respond. Unfortunately, that was the case for us both times, as refills were pretty much non-existent and getting the check involved flagging down someone (not our server) to ask if our server had left or something because they were nowhere to be found. The food was great, no complaints there. However, the customer service was disappointing. My boyfriend and I were forgotten by our server multiple times and had to track him down to place our order after waiting 20 minutes just for our drinks (water and lemonade). He didn't have a positive attitude and treated us like we were a burden. We arrived around 3 PM when it wasn't busy. We unfortunately decided to order our Thanksgiving dinner from Big View. It was $500 including tip. We literally ended throwing the entire meal away. The stuffing was more raw carrots than actual stuffing. The rolls were hard as rocks. The mashed potatoes were watery. The turkey was beyond dry. The gravy was thick white and honestly disgusting. The spring mix lettuce was the shining side. We will never go here again. After it was sold by the Ilios Noche family of restaurants it has absolutely plummeted. read more

The takeout girl needs to be taught what syrup is. I never get syrup and the couple times I have, received unsweetened syrup. Today I went in while she was packing it up and there was a stack of syrup on the counter and she started tying the bag up. I asked for syrup and she said we dont really have syrup. Brought her by friends on my way out of town for Thanksgiving back in New England. They have been raving about this place for months. I can now see and taste why We came in with a reservation (highly recommended on a Sunday noon time). We were seated promptly in a booth. The decor is straight out of the future diner in back to the future : ) Very sleek but comforting at the same time. Servers are great and truly work as a team (important in such an big open space) Oh the food. I started with a Caesar Salad the lettuce crisp and delicious and lots of dressing. My Main was sautéed Rainbow trout and mashed sweet potatoes with brown sugar and green beans in a butter and almond sauce. Just delicious and did I mention fresh ? Portion size is huge. I had a few family members fly in from Texas to visit us and we thought it would be neat to take them here since it was 2 minutes from the hotel they were staying at. My friend ordered the Asian wrap with a side of grilled veggies and her husband ordered a pita wrap with fries. (He had a meeting to go to so I didn't get to take a picture of his food before he scarfed it down!) My breakfast was quite disappointing. The eggs were over cooked. Once they are over cooked... they taste bad. The bacon was good. The grits were bland and had no flavor. The pancakes were surprisingly decent. I've had better but it wasn't bad. My husband said the coleslaw was excellent. He ate that very fast. He thought the sliders could have had more flavor. They were dry and the bread was not really soft. Stale kind of. My friend loved her Asian wrap! She said the chicken that she had grilled was perfect. Flavors were nice and the grilled veggies were a nice side to have. Her husbands pita wrap had positive feedback. The sauce was good and it was filling. The fries were soggy. I was not really impressed with the food. Charming snack shack sitting south of most everything north and bits of the Carolinian South as well, the Big View diner does genuine simulated retro oh so well. Bakery and dessert station to the right coming in, enormous cakes and other goodies hanging around waiting for after dinner coffee and brandies. In the lounge pairs of chrome and wood bar stools upholstered in black and red leather respectively alternate around a recurve bar complete with purse hooks. Lots of serious wood on the walls but there's plenty of natural light to keep it sharp and the tile work on the floor is way diggy. Gotta believe Perry, Della, and Paul will be coming in to celebrate winning the latest case, it just has that sort of feel. Table service is excellent: waitress was attentive but not hovering, my strawberry shake was top notch and the boss said his chopped steak was impressive (could have used a gravy sop.) Bar keep was cheerful and pleasant the whole time... next time we're scheduled out this way I might not bring lunch. read more

Big View is a casual restaurant with a full bar. Locals seem to love this place, they were very busy during lunch. I waited 15 minutes for a table. As I drive across country I made it my point to try various restaurants that served Impossible burger. I am concluding, I'm accepting the fact restaurants aren't going to serve none-dairy condiments or cheeses. I must also get used to the high price Impossible burger brings. Impossible Burger website says, their product isn't marketed to Vegans or Vegetarians but for those who consume animal proteins!! Good luck with that because humans aren't going to change to save our planet. I've eaten at a lot of restaurants all across America and I have NOT yet found population of people 'community' to change their pallet because of earth. Every restaurant have their own take on this plant base protein. Big View recipe is bland, no flavor and somewhat dry. Of course meat texture is real enough for me and that's true for every restaurant I've eaten but, NOT one restaurant use seasoning. Why even offer this alternative protein if your not going to at least give it some flavor. All I had for seasoning was table salt & pepper, I brought my own vegan 'Just Mayo' brand and used restaurant's ketchup and mustard. Of course they use fake sweeten Heinz. Ketchup made with real sugar is always much better. I do appreciate thick cut tomato, nicely cut onions and clean large lettuce 'leaf' but, no none-dairy cheeses. Big View is my 3rd favorite restaurant to serve Impossible Protein right behind White Castle, yeah I know, fast food. Service was perfect, I experienced excellent table service. And I notice Kitchen service had front service 100% serving tables; expeditors. Other tables were getting their food quickly and even though it was busy they never left my waiter hanging, everyone got their food without complaint. Only if they'll use seasonings like garlic, salt, pepper and or steak seasoning and give it some flavor my experience would've given it 4 stars. . I'll end my review by saying, $15.00 not including tip. And yes, I'll come and spend another $15.00 hoping kitchen improved recipe. read more

I miss a good diner, with thick, cushy booths, dessert display cases, and big menus! . Been here for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is great, pancakes were fluffy and delish, so are the eggs. Lunch was OK--I had an Asian chicken wrap, and it was so-so, I wouldn't get it again. Sticking with the basics, I.e., burgers, grilled cheese, club, etc, is best. Not sure why this place doesn't have super high reviews because I have been here a few times since I moved to town a few weeks ago and each time it has been good. If you are looking for something fancy this isn't it but this beats a chain restaurant any day. I like the variety in the menu, it's the kind of place where everyone should be able to find something they like. The service is good and they even have a full bar. I've upped my rating to 5 stars because we went here as a party of 12 last night. Had way too much fun and laughed way too loud. Sorry. The majority of the food was spot on and just delicious with the exception of two things, the meatloaf which was extremely salty but was replaced with a shrimp Caesar salad with the shrimp a tad salty but palatable(lady at next table had warned her). And a waffle that had to be sent back because it was hard. Yes, still five star because with all the food ordered all but one person thought everything was really delicious and since I tried most dishes I agree.
