It was a group of 7 and we were really craving hot pot on a Saturday evening and Liuyishou had a table available with no wait time. The restaurant is pretty big and they have some big tables but all the tables had only one pot hot pot which makes it hard for people to eat. I wish they had multiple pots for bigger tables so that it was inconvenient. Other than that, their service was pretty good and they also had a really good AYCE deal for $39/pp! We got their two flavour soup base - spicy beef and tomato soup base. Their meats and veggies were all fresh! They had a massive self-serve bar with sauces, tofu, fried chicken (which was delicious), noodles, bean curd, and other items. It was a good selection! You also get dessert in the AYCE menu with two options - vanilla ice cream and coffee pudding. This was hands down the worst dining experience I've ever had. Not only is the food overpriced, but the service is aggressively hostile. ​The highlight of the night was a staff member slamming meat onto our table and condescendingly saying, "Wanna bet you ordered this?" I calmly told her with a smile that we didn't, as we are all allergic to chicken. Instead of an apology, she stomped away and slammed the receipt in my face. After reviewing it and realizing she was wrong, she simply blamed her coworker and didn't offer a single word of apology for her behavior. ​Beyond the attitude, the food quality is a bait-and-switch. We got the grill on top of the hot pot because it was a free add on, but we didn't really use the grill much and it was more in the way than useful. On vacation we decided to try this place out for dinner since it had really good reviews. Yes they were busy but our first order should not have taken 40 minutes (excuse was they only have one cutting machine) and continued to be late through the night. From the menu to the back kitchen to the lack of staff it was a mess. Solid choice for AYCE if you're looking for value and really craving hotpot in downtown. There's not much competition (at the time of writing, Big Way had 4 reviews in the last week complaining about food poisoning). Their spicy broth is a little spicier than other places, so be sure if you order spice level 3. The servers are friendly and patient, but they seem a little understaffed. The vegetables are fresh, but everything else is very mediocre or low quality. The fried pork (?) was mostly flour and grease/fat, and it wasn't crispy. The beef wasn't very marbled and was tough even when we timed it correctly in the pot. They also don't let you decide how many of an item you get per round since the kitchen decides that. It's not really a problem because they'll do 3 rounds of orders (as far as we can tell from the menu). Overall, you get what you pay for. I would recommend Dolar Shop, Haidilao, or Xiaolongkan over this spot if you care about better quality ingredients. PS: Soup base, which is essential, isn't included in the AYCE price. Downtown parking, so expect limited paid street parking and parking garages. read more

Came here for dinner with a couple friends and they did not disappoint. The sauce station had a good variety of ingredients plus side dishes to add to you hot pot like quail eggs, fish tofu, different types of noodles and more. They even have ready to eat cooked foods like chicken wings, crispy chicken nuggets and sweet buns with condense milk! (Yes I know, they try to get you full before you even order off the menu lol) The meat platter presentation was conveniently made with a wooden ring that sat around the pot so it's easy for everyone to share and enjoy. Lots of other typical hot pot items and good selection of AYCD too for $3.99! Such a good deal on top of the $32.99 AYCE dinner. Everything was fresh, but they do serve in small quantities to ensure less food is wasted. Not sure why this place has low reviews, my first time at this location was amazing! Came in on a Tuesday night for dinner. It wasn't busy at all. Got greeted quickly by our server Cici, she gave us a run down of how the ayce works and answered any questions we had. Cici was fantastic! Super attentive and friendly. The restaurant was well ventilated, we didn't smell like hotpot afterwards. The food was of course super good, the meats were good quality for ayce. The sauce bar had a great selection. This was my partner and I's first time trying hotpot, and the servers went far beyond helpful and kind. The restaurant was clean, prompt, and everything was as straightforward as it could be. The food was great! We tried some beef, noodles, veggies, pork, shrimp, and egg with a pork and a spice broth (we went for the least spicy at the recommendation of one of the servers, thank god). We were checked in on frequently, and one of the servers even made us some of the most popular sauces to try, which were very good. For the fun we had, how good the food was, and the hospitality, I feel that the price was fair, and I would recommend this place to anyone interested! I read reviews from both a year as well as a couple months ago, and assumed that the restaurant may have had a little revamp, as most of the older reviews complained about the cleanliness, the service, and the quality of the food, and the newer reviews are all extremely positive in respect to those three things, which definitely was proven true for us. The meats were just OK. Nothing too crazy. The apps were nice! Very delicious and easy access. The sauce selection was fine, but nothing special. Also *** be aware of the portions. We did order too much to start, that's on us. But we thought with just 2 it would be smaller portions of food per checked box. Just ask and make sure to figure it out or do a smaller first round. Not sure why this place doesn't have more stars but I thought the food, selection, freshness, service, environment and concept were all 5 stars. Monday to Thursday AYCE for $32 CAD was a great value and for an additional $4 it adds all you can drink canned drinks & soda plus freshly made iced teas and juices. After spending the day in the snow up at Grouse Mountain hot pot sounded perfect and this spot did not disappoint. Highly suggest giving it a try. read more

We came here since we've walked by it many times before and were curious how the food tasted. Honestly I'm surprised that the yelp reviews are so low. We had such a great experience. The service was excellent and it wasn't busy during lunch time. We got our own booth and they offered the AYCE lunch special but I preferred the broth options for the normal AYCE meal (I wanted the bone broth). You get to choose from a lamb/beef combo and it's a massive portion size (as pictured in the photo). We didn't realize it'd be that big. At the sauce area, there's also a bunch of stuff you can get such as quail eggs, potatoes and even cooked stuff (chicken wings, spring rolls and popcorn chicken). Everything tasted amazing and we would def come back here. Our hostess was wonderful and the atmosphere was nice. You also get ice cream for dessert! They take reservations seemingly from multiple sources, but Yelp reservations don't seem to be honored as they keep their own list on paper. Several parties came in and just said they had a reservation for a certain time and were given tables even well after our time from our Yelp reservation had passed. After a long day doing a tech fair here in Richmond, we decided to do hot pot, and Liu Yi Shou was the one we decided to try. I didn't catch her name but the hostess is super friendly and ran us through how they do things and made recommendations. They price the AYCE by the table, and an extra cost per broth. There were a few other items that cost extra, but we weren't interested in them. I chose the Liu Yi Shou broth in a medium spice level, she did recommend that I go with the mildest level if it's my first time trying it, and I'm glad she did. That broth was definitely way more spicy than I thought it would be. My coworker chose the coconut broth which I didn't actually try. We ordered the beef and lamb special, shrimp, mussels, pork balls, garlic pork ribs, marbled beef, pork belly, enoki mushrooms, and various other veggies. We got our sauces along with tofu, glass noodles, quail eggs, cilantro, and green onions. They had some other sides at the sauce bar as well, but we passed on them. The broths came out first with each dish slowly coming out after that. The place was pretty busy as this was around 7:30pm, so the lamb and beef tray took about 30 minutes to come out. We didn't really have a problem with that as there were plenty of other things to eat. We only needed one round to be decently full and capped it off with some vanilla ice cream. The only reason I knocked off a star was because a few items didn't come out, and the delay with the main meat tray. Not a big problem, but it is worth a mention for a full review of this experience. I would recommend this place if you are in the area and in the mood for hot pot. read more

Was delightfully surprised and satisfied by this hot pot place! I came with 4 other friends so it was pretty affordable and we were all full by the end of our meal. I really liked the sauce buffet in the back where you can customize your own sauces. They also have have unlimited sides like fruits, veggies, and other assortments which I thought was a neat addition to the hot pot. FOOD: The quality of the meat was good! We had the lamb and beef platter (had to order two since we were all pretty hungry). There's a lot to choose from and it ranges from the typical hot pot meats to the more unique ones like duck neck. The veggies and other non meat items that we got were also pretty fresh and delicious. ENVIRONMENT: The place is spacious and there's plenty of seats available. Would recommend calling in to reserve because I do believe that it can get quite busy during popular times. SERVICE: Service was decent! They're nice and they're quick. They also have a timetable to show how long each item should be cooked for which I thought was useful. Where should i begin. I have so many things i want to say. First, this is my first time here at this restaurant. I only have US dollars so I wasn't able to pay for my meter. Well, because of my short self I wasn't able to see the pay by phone facing up from the meter. Lol! I asked the first person who came to me. Her name is Ivy. She greeted me with a big smile. I told her my situation and she was so nice to give me coins for the meter and that she will add it to my bill. That was a life saver. Customer service was 10/10. If I could give her a 20 I would. Now, for the food. It came very promptly. The meats were thinly sliced. My husband enjoyed it. I'm a veggie girl and they have all the veggies I wanted. When you ask they will deliver. Came here with a group of 3 others and we all tried various meats, veggies and seafood with a half/half soup mix of pork broth and of course the traditional spicy soup. The spice on this broth was indeed true to its name. This along with their massive sauce bar gets a A++ from me. As others have noted however, the ingredients themselves seemed subpar. So...I was kinda pissed with the restaurant. We made a reservation for 7PM, and when we arrived, we were told we would have to wait another half an hour plus there were 2 other parties waiting ahead of us. Like I don't expect to get seated at 7PM on the dot but 30 mins? C'mon!! After we got seated, we had trouble flagging down a waiter and eventually after probably 15 mins we were able to catch the attention of a server. I understand things get busy but shooting my hand up/trying to make eye contact over and over was pretty ridiculous. The saving grace was the food itself, which was good! We recently popped in for AYCE, and we can't wait to go back. We love hot pot and have been to many spots in the lower mainland. 5* for the service and the quality of food!! Everything was so fresh, the meat quality was excellent and for AYCE we were beyond satisfied. Be prepared to pay extra for the sour base. We had the special spicy and chicken/fresh coconut broths. Went here for Sunday dinner and we were seated immediately. Lovely decors and plenty of room for your food! The have a sauce station for $2.5/person - kinda cool! The original spicy sauce/broth was too spicy for me actually taste. It was our fault that we got the spiciest level because there were literally tons of chillies and Chinese peppercorn. Regardless, I had a good time eating. The foods we selected were delicious and came pretty fast. The reason I'm giving this 3/5 stars cuz the service was horrible. Our waitress forgot to get us our pitcher of beer until we reminded her half way. As well, they didn't clear our table even though it was filled with dirty and empty plates.
