Some times being in a rut is not a bad thing, and at the Big Y Café, I like the rut I'm in. I think, but I wouldn't stake my life on it, that every single time I find myself east of Stevens Pass I end up having breakfast at the Big Y. It must've been 25 years ago that we stumbled on this very humble looking restaurant on the side of US2. I know for a fact it hasn't been remodeled in that time, in addition, I wouldn't be surprised if the same waitresses work there, maybe the same cooks too. Maybe not, but nothing has changed over the years. The food is reliable, steadfast and delicious. I think I've had most of what they have on their menu, from pancakes to chicken fried steak to omelets and I just don't think you can go wrong no matter what you choose. It's inexpensive, very casual, efficient and the staff is friendly and attentive.. but not overly so. Don't be put off by the dive look, just relax, unwind, leave your city slicker slickiness at the door, and enjoy this rural little gem of a diner. read more

Every time I have visited them on my way up to Leavenworth it's always been so worth it. The prices are awesome and the food is always amazing. I love how every time I order a hot cocoa they change up the design on top. I ordered the full stack of the giant buttermilk pancakes for $10 assuming they wouldn't be that big (I'm from Tacoma and I have IHOP) the waitress tried to warn me. Very disappointing we drove from East Wenatchee because we usually like the ambiance, awesome customer service this very quaint cafe has. They have 2 other locations in our town all with a different feel but this location was our favorite until now. We waited 15+ minutes with our waitress passing us 5 times without acknowledgment. She wasn't a bad waitress because she stopped at all her other tables and greeted them nicely and chatted with them just not us. She stopped long enough to take our order and never came back. Small town America isn't always gastronomically receptive to vegans. We checked online menus, but even the salads offered locally all sported some kind of meat. Our waitress at the Big Y Cafe said, "Let me see what we can do." The manager appeared and offered to make a grilled veggie sandwich - not a menu item - with sweet potato fries. She served it up on sourdough with fresh avocado, winning 5 stars for flavor, service, and willingness to accommodate the customer. If I ever return to Pashatin, Big Y will be on my route. read more

Visiting Leavenworth over the holidays, my bf and I had booked our hotel very late in the year so we stayed at a near hotel in Peshastin. Which brought us to walk into Big Y Café. Our first meal in Washington was this place. And I will always remember it dearly. We walked in to what was a not very busy place at the moment but was very welcoming. We sat down and looked at the menu. My bf ordered their giant pancake with sausage and eggs. I ordered an omelet with hash browns and toast. The food was delicious. We were so hungry after such a long flight, but we still could finish the pancake lol. The inside was so beautifully decorated specially during the holidays. And it was so cozy. The coffee was just right. We came here a couple times during the time we stayed in Peshastin, and every single time was better than the last. Amazing food. We still talk about the giant pancake lol and how it was fluffy and fully cooked considering how big it was lol. read more

After buying some fresh cherries from friendly locals who directed us here, we both ordered breakfast comfort food from the "short haul" menu that was delicious and ample. Full from that meal, we took our homemade pie slices 'to go' and enjoyed them later at our Airbnb. Despite being super busy and understaffed, the servers were very gracious and attentive and quickly brought our food out to us. Excellent service and breakfast! My partner and I ordered the hash brown omelette (we split) and 2 eggs each because the omelette has no eggs. Highly recommend splitting due to the fact that the omelette was huge! We left stuffed! The coffee was really good and they do have flavored creamers. The waitress were really friendly. We stopped here for breakfast this morning and it was great. I tried the granny Smith omelet, and it was tasty and interesting. The cinnamon roll was huge and delicious. The fresh fruit boat was full of fresh and tasty cut fruit. The service was very attentive and very friendly. It has the feel of a small place where the locals come for breakfast everyday to get away from the tourists, but once you get past that awkward moment when you walk in the door when the music screeches to a stop and the entire restaurant looks up it's a friendly bustling atmosphere. We may have felt like we were sitting at Bob and Carol's favorite table at first, we left feeling as welcome as Bob and Carol. read more

Fantastic diner! We came in hungry and left with full bellies (and a high blood sugar). The French toast is FANTASTIC. I think they make it with locally baked cinnamon bread. The portions are huge and the food is all very good. The food came out hot- more than what can be said about diners I've been to. I was surprised that the side options for meals were pancakes or French toast, and the side portions were as big as a second meal! Our waitress, Carolina, was incredibly sweet and provided great service. If we end up driving through this town again, we will be stopping here to eat. read more

Went to Leavenworth over Labor Day Weekend for a girls trip, and found this place on Yelp for brunch. Leavenworth doesn't have a ton of great breakfast spots so decided to get in the car and check it out. I'm happy we did so because the food was good and the portions are huge. I got the Veggie Benedict with a side of fresh fruit. The fruit was delicious and tasty. I loved how the veggies were cooked as well! My friend got the Loco Moco, she's a native Hawaiian and wasn't a huge fan of it as it was more of a play on Loco Moco. My other friend got the Chicken Fried Steak with a side of French Toast and enjoyed that! I would recommend this place to others. Big Y cafe was the perfect place to stop on our way back home from a nice vacation in Leavenworth! The place was busy, we had a party of 6. The staff did a great job of informing us that our table will be available soon. They gave us water and coffee while we waited. The food was delicious! We went here because my mom had breakfast there once and said it was very good. When we got there, the menu was kind of limited but still had some good stuff. Service was pretty good and our waitress was very nice. When our food came, the portions were pretty good sized and the food was good as well. We ordered a salad and were pretty disappointed with the chicken in the salad. It was pretty tough and dry. When staying in Leavenworth, we chose not to eat breakfast there because I remembered Big Y was down the road. It was well worth the drive. We had an excellent waitress - great service, patient and accommodating in taking our order perfectly. My Mom had her eggs, crispy hash browns and a huge biscuit. I had an omelette without the cheese and garlic with cinnamon bread French toast and my spouse, cinnamon bread French toast and bacon. All cooked to perfection by the chefs and delivered quickly!
