We stopped here for breakfast on our way out of Leavenworth. Delicious food--the grilled veggies on the smaller eggs Benedict dish were wonderful--friendly service, and reasonable prices. It was steady but not crowded on a summer Monday morning (it probably gets busy on weekends). There were mostly locals, always a good sign, but we felt very welcomed. Stopped here after our stay in Leavenworth as not many restaurants were open to choose from on a Monday morning. Super friendly staff and comfortable restaurant. I had the California Benedict with fried potatoes and really enjoyed it. My husband had bacon and eggs with a biscuit and gravy. We arrived here at 9:45am today (Wednesday) and it wasn't too busy. The cafe has booths and counter seating and was really clean. The staff provided excellent and attentive service. I'm a big fan of diners - and this one hit the spot! The menu was double sided; all breakfast on one side and all lunch/dinner on the other. The breakfast options included a variety of meat and eggs with your choice of side: country potatoes and toast, hash browns and toast, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, etc... Needless to say, many of these are not what I would normally consider a side choice (but I would like to think of them that way all the time). I ordered a coffee to go with my German sausage and eggs with country potatoes and toast. Everything on my plate was cooked to perfection! The potatoes were soft on the inside, but burnt ever so slightly on the outside - just the way they should be. They were cooked with a little bit of onion - the flavor permeating throughout every potato. My sausage was incredibly juicy and flavorful. I ordered my eggs sunny side up. My husband ordered scrambled. He made me take a bite of his, telling me that this is the way scrambled eggs should taste and feel. The service was quick and friendly. I overheard the waitress asking an older gentleman where Mary was. I am not from around here, but I am a sucker for a place where they know their regulars. This Cafe is located just slightly outside of the main City of Leavenworth area on highway 2. It was right beside our hotel. I ordered takeout at about 7am and the service was fast, took about 10 min. I ordered the mini eggs Benedict, a single big pancake, and the marionberry waffles. I shared everything with my wife and we still had a quarter of the pancake left. So the portions were large. The value is cheap relative to other diners given the portion size and the taste was delicious. I only docked a star because the egg in the Benedict was not runny and borderline almost overdone. It still tasted good and I ordered the one with fresh vegetables instead of ham. The pancake was good, but maybe slightly overdone, hence the color in the picture. The negatives are far outweighed with the positives and I think if I went back, it would be better since those minor shortcomings was probably just from the particular cook or just this one time. Every restaurant in Leavenworth had a four hour wait for dinner on New Years day and we had a very hungry group. The Big Y was a ten minute drive from our hotel and we figured there was a better chance that we could eat in a reasonable amount of time. I'm very happy we made that decision. The restaurant is new and super clean, but has a very down-home feel. Our waitress was extremely nice and patient as we struggled through ordering; being able to order breakfast, lunch, or dinner was a tough choice for our famished family. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We also had a slice of the chocolate cream pie and it was probably the best I've ever had. If you want to get away from the chaos of downtown leavenworth, I highly suggest the comfort food of the Big Y. read more
