Don't let the cluster of negative fool you, this Big Y location is terrific. There's ample parking, the store is spacious and most importantly, they've done a terrific job keeping things in stock amidst this Covid-19 epidemic and has quickly become our go-to store for groceries in the area. One thing to note, which I noticed on my trip there earlier today is how they carry very specific, ethnic items that I wouldn't think they'd have at first glance. Things like Korean gojuchang or Big Y-branded spice blends that come in much larger containers than what you could get elsewhere. Small things but in the grand scheme of things, small items that make a big difference when trying to cut back on how many trips you need to make for things. This is absolutely unacceptable to sell chickens that are raw inside. I called the Easton Big Y and spoke with Dan and I sent the pictures of the chicken. Dan said he'll try to find out what happened. What happened is no one is checking the temp and selling raw poultry that is supposed to be cooked. I am done with this "world class market". read more

In this day and age it would be hard for a supermarket to not be halfway decent like as in "just OK". The reviews here are absolutely dreadful and certainly there is no excuse for spoiled food. Interestingly when I shopped Saturday afternoon it was pretty darn busy. So either its wicked convenient or some people are fans of some aspect as there are a couple of other markets not far away. My first observation is the interesting saying on the outside of the store in the signage " American Family Owned" Umm Ok why that needs to be heralded I've no clue. Not a corporation? Not owned by someone with a foreign sounding name? It's really not necessary we all know it's whats inside that counts! First impression inside is that I liked the boldness of the "shops" the deli, bakery, seafood and butcherie impressively pop right out from the perimeter. One serious design flaw (and I would love to hear what their shopper traffic flow studies look like) why toward the back of the store is there a horizontal shelving and displays that block the free flow of traffic and makes you walk around it. It also seems to confuse shoppers who are walking back n forth on each side of that causing some awkwardness where I had to do a little dance and play a little game of am I going left or am I going right to dodge oncoming carts. Also I couldn't see the signs at the isles easily either as some isles were recessed. Took too much time to find things. Here is a store that really needs my product shelf map app. Yo app wheres the bread crumbs. In fairness to the haters it was my first time in the store and I was in a bit of a rush so I didn't really compare pricing or scrutinize brands just got what I needed. I am definitely not going out of my way to go back to this store but would have no hesitation stopping in to grab a few things if I was driving by. Two more points traffic really sucks getting out from the stores in this plaza. The main road is being dug up causing a detour for shoppers from Easton. That was a real friggin 10 minutes of nuisance that will get worse until Xmas is over. On the good side I left my cell phone in the shopping cart and drove off to the nearby Target whereupon I parked freaked out and hurried back. Fortunately an honest cart collector brought it in wiped it off as it was raining lightly and left it at customer service. That is good customer service for sure! read more

This store is fine. Never got spoiled food. Never seen instances of harsh treatment of customers. The workers have always been helpful and there's no way I believe it's because of my skin color. I like the selection and the prices are average. The produce fresh, although there have been times they've been out of some things it's rare. The meat is certainly better than Shaw's. Don't let the skewed reviews, likely initiated by one disgruntled person asking their friends to pile on persuade you to avoid this location. read more

I do not shop at this location, it's dirty and not as nice looking as other big y locations. The staff is rude and food/products are underwhelming, I go there one time last year to get gift cards and get told "you need a big y card for gift cards" and she said in a real rude attitude, I told her "no I don't, that's ridiculous I'm not getting a card for a gift card" and I left. I'm not doing this bs that I need to service the company by getting their stupid card, I'm never gonna use it, their prices are WAY higher than Shaw's, Market Basket or Trucchis. Their food is terrible, again, way lower standards than other locations, it's like a totally different company, their bakery is not as good, deli and the hot food is almost non existent, every time I go in there there's never any food out, usually most locations have a hot case outside the department for hot stuff but nothing. I've been a long time customer of Big Y and I always considered it a step above the rest of the stores around the Easton area. Unfortunately, as of late, the store has severely declined in quality both regarding the food and the staff. It seems as though I'm never able to go in and find fresh produce or fruits anymore. From the cucumbers being mushy to the tomatoes being rotten, to mold growing on most of the fruits, there are also expired items on the shelves such as bread, etc. Big Y used to take pride in their food and the quality of it however now it seems as though they're just like any other store, push out the items and if they don't sell, keep them out until they do, even if quality is compromised! The other day I was in there and they had one single rotting red onion where the red onions typically are. The thing that baffles me is that if you look around, you see employees but the majority of them are either socializing with each other, or pretending like they're working without really doing anything of substance. And God forbid you ask a question, most get an attitude and get aggravated that they have to actually work or look for something. The ONE positive is the dairy manager who is always friendly and willing to help and go to the back any time you may need something not on the shelf. Big Y, I don't want you to reply to this review, with a typical "we'll look into it", because believe me, that doesn't mean anything because we both know that most likely, you'll read this review, consider me to be the bad guy and do nothing about it but I highly suggest you take this review seriously because you are losing customers as this is being written. I think all of these other reviews are really harsh. Living in Westwood, I have shopped at both Big Y and Hannaford for years. They were both not far from my house, and now there are two Big Y stores near my house, as Big Y bought out eight different Hannaford locations, which will all turn into Stop&Shop's at some point, I believe. Anyway, this store isn't truly a Big Y. Yes, it says it on the sign, but no major renovations or changes have been made..... heck barely any minor changes have even been made. They sort of just left it the way it was and decided to just move on. In order for this to be a true Big Y, such as my favorite location in Walpole, they need to add all of the Big Y normal things, like a café and a pizza shop as well as changing the signs and locations for certain things. Yes, this store is large, spacious and vast, but since it says Big Y on the sign now, I expect it to be just as great as the Walpole location. In the current state, it's a fine supermarket, but not actually a Big Y. I heard people complaining in store about the prices and coins. Honestly, I like the coins and find it to be an interesting techniques in allowing certain customers who shop at the store often enough to get the coins get over-the-top awesome deals. Plus, since I'm organized, I don't lose the coins. Prices are somewhat higher than Hannafords, but then again, I find the quality to be better and a better selection at Big Y. I didn't really shop here when this place was Hannaford's, however, I NEVER shopped in the deli section or meat shop at the Norwood Hannaford. Overall, I don't see the big downside about this supermarket, as I find that Big Y beats Shaw's and Roche Bros for an overall decent place. While there is still work for them to do to actually make this a 'normal' Big Y, it doesn't deserve the one and two star reviews. 4 stars. read more

Saturday at 1:30 the 2 guys working in the pizza location have really bad attitudes! Sign stating slices for 2.99. I asked if there was any pizza for slices both of them said rudely NOPE! This store really needs to hire people with customer service skills (basic ) would help! The lady at the bakery wasn't much better! You've lost a customer!! The manager was horribly rude to me while I was using the self check out. As if I'm not a full grown adult who knows how to read a screen.

Have had several negative experiences with this store and company over the past couple years. They opened this location after they bought out the Hannafords that was there. Stopped in one day thinking they'd finally re-opened since the parking lot was pretty full. Hadn't made it to the doors yet when someone in a Big Y shirt, presumably the manager, walked out and barked at me that they weren't open yet. This type of attitude pretty much set the tone for future experiences in this store. Typically higher priced than competitors in the area, and also tend to have sub-par produce and meats. They have also recently started charging for paper bags at checkout. Straw that broke the camels back for me today though was stopping in for a gift card. They refused to sell me a gift card unless I paid them in cash or gave them my information for a Big Y card. I've had my fill of this company, and as I told the manager today when she came over flanked by two other employees to tell me about this policy, I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. read more

I had a great experience shopping for instacart at Big Y today! I am fairly new to the app and had only been to Big Y once, just last week with my mom. I waited in line at the deli and was greeted by a very cheerful employee at the counter. He could see that I was nervous and jumped to help by handing me a map of the store and offering me some tips. Throughout the process he reminded me that I'm doing my best and to "stay awesome". Made my day! read more

Nope, not good. Not even close to the quality Hannaford was. I can no longer find products I use since they don't carry them at all. Other items I've found substitutions for a usually out of stock. The prices have gone up considerably. I used to be able to do one large shopping trip a month for about $200 (for a family of 4) That has since gone up to about $325 and I still can't get everything I need or want because they are out of stock or don't carry it. On the plus side they kept most of the Hannaford staff and they are all great and helpful, but since you can't polish a turd it doesn't do much good. Time to find a new grocery store. read more

Regrettably Big Y has been an enormous step downward from its predecessor, Hannifords, As measured by Value, quality and choice. I no longer will even consider steak or Hamburg which. Ranks as the worst ever eaten. WE formerly spent $150 per weeek at Hannifords, now no more than $50 Stop flooding the shelves with Big Y brands and give people a choice! read more

Had to make an "emergency" trip to Big Y for a box of lettuce. They have the audacity to charge $3.49 for the exact same item I bought at Market Basket, 2 for $4.00. Despite being the closest grocery store to my house, this exemplifies why Big Y is where I go only in "emergencies", between my weekly shopping trips at Whole Foods and Market Basket. I've actually done price comparisons on my regular list of staples and found Big Y prices are 20-25% higher than Market Basket and 12-12% higher than Whole Foods. 25% on a $200 shopping trip is $50 - that's over $2500 a year!! Big Y meat, seafood and produce quality is average at best, certainly no better than Mkt Basket and grossly inferior to Whole Foods. How can they justify this mark-up? Perhaps you reading this will start to shop elsewhere and tell your friends too. If enough people stop patronizing this Big Y, they'll be forced to become more price competitive. read more

I totally agree, I miss Hanafords. Don't like Big Y. Prices are not as good, selection is down and quality is fair at best. I find A LOT of errors on the receipt for items I purchase. This was my first time shopping at BigY, thought I would give it a try. They do have a big variety of foods. Foods seem fresh. Prices are on the expensive side, in my opinion. I don't recognize some of the brands they use. What really bothered me was how "management" spoke to "employees". I experienced this twice in my first visit. First was at the deli. "Management" reprimanding employees that too many people were slicing cheese. Ok, didn't give it a second thought. Then at the register another "Management" asked why a cashier was at register and the explanation was the lines were getting long. "Management" said loudly to cashier in front of customers "Don't do it again!". I feel management needs training on how to speak to their employees. I felt embarrassed, never mind how the employees felt. Not sure I'll go back based on how employees are treated. read more
