It's been a while, but decided to give this place a try again. Ordered a cheese pizza with garlic, onions, basil, and oregano and received a pepperoni pizza with one slice missing. Disgusting. The rest of the order was correct so I find it hard to believe that it was just a DoorDash issue (ie driver picking up Wrong order). A complete rip off and zero quality control. I will never order from here again and recommend you don't either. I've posted a pic on my review on DoorDash. I don't leave many bad reviews but I think it's important for the owners to see so they can make improvements. I've always know Bigalora to have great pizza. Our recent experience did not meet those expectations. The focaccia came bone dry with no olive oil or seasonings. The margherita pizza lacked flavor. The sauce was very bland as if tomatoes were just taken out of a can. We ordered through Door Dash and knew we would likely have to reheat the pizza which was fine, but the flavors will definitely missing all around. read more

Pistachio pizza is amazing! The bartenders are always amazing. I have never hade buratta cheese before and it is so tasty! My only complaint is the stairs make it difficult for my elderly mother to get into the restaurant. read more

Been here 3 times and each time is just ehh. The wait staff is nice of course. Best part of this restaurant is the building since it's really nice atmosphere with the open kitchen and exposed brick walls. Sad to say the best part isn't the food. We ordered the meatballs, burrata, and bacco sausage pizza. The meatballs were the best thing we ordered, they were tender, had a nice savory flavor, and good sauce. The burrata was good but should've came with something other than just cheese and tomatoes. We would've appreciated complimentary bread with it. The pizza lacked zing. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Lacking in flavor even though it was full of toppings. Also, the menu could use some work. They have a lot of options but none or them sound like something we were excited to try. Probably won't be coming back for a while unless some more exciting options come along. read more

The sourdough crust is awesome. The food is great, the chop salad and pepperoni pizza are my go tos. My only gripe is with the clam pizza. I was picking out shells and dirt with every bite. Why not just take the clams out of the shell? But I digress. Everything else is amazing, come for the half off wine- they do it for take out too. read more

Overpriced and not worth the dough, literally and figuratively. I quite enjoy flat pizzas here and there, but it wasn't until I went to Blaze, just several blocks down on Main Street how much Bigalora rips off their customers with the same exact pizza they could get at Blaze and tastes just as good, if not better and costs half as much. Plus Bigalora has set pizzas, a built my own with 9 toppings would probably cost me $50 or more for the small pie. I like the salted caramel sundae or dessert in a glass, but other than that, if you want pizza, go a bit further for a worthwhile and affordable wonderfully perfect 90 second baked flat pizza at Blaze. I doubt any flat pizza joint could do better than Blaze. Sorry Bigalora, try a little harder or check out your market some more. read more

I walked into Bigalora in Royal Oak December 29th with a group of 9 for drinks. I immediately noticed the 20% tip automatically put on each bill. I always tip 20% or more so it didn't bother me. We sat at a High top by the windows/door. After sitting for a min I realized that my seat was wet and when I looked I sat in what looked like was vomit. I quietly washed by long coat in the Disgusting bathroom. Horribly dirty. Our server Janee was the WORST. We waited over 20 mins to get drinks of which 4 drinks were Irish car bombs. We weren't drinking cheaply. Server came back 1 time after that and I had to ask a bartender to get our server so we could cash out. I have never written a review, but this experience was so HORRIBLE and yet the server received 20% for nothing. She literally was at our table 2x. The restaurant was not busy. This was my first time dining at this location, I have been to the one off of Northwestern many times before and I love it. My family usually orders a couple of pizzas and a large salad to split, so I can't comment on any of their other food. During this visit we ordered a large chopped salad for the table and a MARGHERITA, FARM EGG, CRISPY BRUSSELS SPROUTS, and POTATO pizza. I have to say their salad is one of the best from a pizza restaurant. I usually don't eat gorgonzola or garbanzo beans but here I devour them! I also love that they toss the salad for you and its the perfect amount of dressing. We have never tried the brussel sprouts pizza before and I was very curious about how they would do it. All four of the pizzas we ordered were phenomenal. I highly recommend getting a white pizza and a red pizza because they are just so different. Oh and their strawberry gelato is out of this world! So much better than regular strawberry ice cream. In my opinion, its worth paying a little more and getting quality pizza. read more

Wow! Talk about comfort food with style! My wife had the salmon dish and asked to swap out the salad for some spaghetti --- it was no problem. She thoroughly enjoyed her dish, although she did say there was a bit of room for improvement in the quality of the tomato sauce. I, on the other hand, had the Rigatoni Bolognese which was quite delicious. The meat sauce was wonderful and I loved that the rigatoni itself was al dente. My wife's glass of house wine was very good. The dessert?! Holy cow! I decided to opt out, but my wife ordered a cup of coffee and the Fritelli. The Fritelli was the proprietary Bigalora bread(sticks) which were deep-fried (lightly), lightly sprinkled with sugar and served with a dish of homemade hazelnut-chocolate spread and a dish of strawberry compote. When the dish arrived I asked the waitress if there was another party expected to join us to finish that dessert!! The amount on the plate was staggering, but my wife convinced me to assist her in finishing it and we did, but this dessert could easily make four (4) people very happy. Service was bright and cheery and fast. Restrooms are single-occupancy, and the establishment itself clean and bright. Noise level is average. Great place for kids, from what I could tell,. Delicious drinks and food and great prices ! Came here during happy hour and got to sit on the patio. Their carrots were unique with a goat cheese and glaze with peanuts. 2 die for 3 of us came for a work trip. We typically travel 2 to 3 times a month. We eat at very high end places all the time. Lots of steak houses. We were completely caught off guard with the salmon. It was the right kind of crisp and creamy buttery inside. We had the brussle sprout salad which was a nice blend. Another one of us are the beet salad all gone. The sizes were great. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine with it. I do want to warn you. Once you achieve this level of yumminess in salmon no other salmon can compete. It's like great sex. Once you have you always think back to it. Same with the salmon as it melts in your mouth and your eyes roll back in your head. You will know you won't find it like this again. read more

The clam pizza had 8 tiny clams on it despite the $17.5 price. Waitress never took our plates despite us ordering a dessert pizza so we stacked them to make room. I love pizza, especially thin and chewy pizza. This place has got it! It's cooked in a wood oven giving it a perfect thin, bubbly crust! I've been here multiple times and my first experience sucked because of the service. I gave it a second chance as Ai typically do and I was glad. On top of pizza, they have some other Italian dishes, salads, and a great beer selection. The inside is modern, yet has an old kitchen feel to it. The upstairs seating is nice for privacy and something more intimate. There isn't much else to say. It's a good place. Go there! read more

4 stars Called ahead to see what it takes to fit a party of 18. To qualify for reservations, 10+ are required. You are also required to order off 1 of 2 special menus. Menu 1 requiring a minimum of $19/person, menu 2 minimum of $25ish/person. Since this wasn't something we were interested in. We opted to sit at 2 tables of 9 when we arrived. I called another location to see if this reservation policy was specific to this location but they all had the same protocol. Ended going with this location since the Southfield location was much smaller. We were seated upstairs. Our waitstaff was nice. Some ordered off the restaurant week menu and approved of their orders. I got the sweet potato drizzled in balsamic reduction. Pretty good, but one of my potato slices was still crunchy (not fully cooked properly). Ordered the fungi pizza (mushroom white sauce pizza) and it did not disappoint. Mainly wanted to come to Bigalora because of their 'no commercial yeast' pizza. This thin crust pie was perfect to share (with other courses) or to eat alone if you're really hungry. Verdict from the rest of the table: The meatballs were apparently delicious (the guy next to me ordered), and the pastas were not bad (not too flavorful but hearty). Finished up with a scoop of espresso gelato that I got for free! (During restaurant week, bring a non perishable food item to participating restaurants and get a coupon for something!) I was able to use it at that visit. I'd come back again! P.S. Parking can suck and confusing due to construction. There's free parking right behind, but good luck getting in or even finding a spot. Great dinner. First of all, no wait time. It's a pretty large place, so I think it can handle crowds. Very friendly staff. Diverse menu, something for everyone, options for veg & GF. Cocktail was delicious, the gilded rose, it was rose, chartreuse, and chamomile bitters. Different, light, mildly sweet, like 3/10, really nice. Crispy Brussels sprouts and salmon were really really good, the salmon was perfectly done, not dry, and the sprouts were crunchy but not overcooked and had just a hint of balsamic glaze, it was nice they were not swimming in glaze. Chop salad was good, kind of plain, nothing really special, comes pre-dressed which was fine. Risotto balls (arancini I think) were really good, different for me because I have not had saffron in them before. I liked them, they were not dry, and they came with a delicious tomato sauce. If that's their pasta sauce, I def recommend anything that comes with that sauce. Also had the gnocchi with a smoked eggplant cream sauce and mushrooms (portobello maybe), this was delicious, it was a pretty big serving, plenty of gnocchi and shrooms, not very smokey at all, you didn't really notice the eggplant, perhaps it was cooked into the sauce, the gnocchi were nice and fluffy, a yummy but very rich dish. Decent prices, 3 dinners (or combinations of small plates and entrees to equal 3 dinner portions), one cocktail, $70 (pre-tip). Also, salads had two sizes, so you can go small or large, very nice option. They boast a special pizza dough, so I think next time I'll try the pizza. Mixed reviews had me nervous coming in. My aunt reported lackluster experience. My friend have been before and liked it (we went with them). Weather was perfect for the patio. Arriving at 7:30 We waited about 20 min to have a nice patio seat. By 8:30 there were a lot of empty tables. Drink menu has a of options. I had 2 cocktails, both excellent. I recommend "I'll have what she's having" We ordered Rosemary fries, risotto balls and Brussel sprout salad based on previous Yelp reviews. All were good, nothing new. I'm over fried Brussel sprouts at the moment so I would not order again. Risotto balls are tasty. We ordered 3 pizzas for 4 people. More than enough food (our friends are light eaters) and we had almost a full pizza to take home. The salami pizza was my favorite. Salami style pepperoni, kalamata olives and artichoke. The cheese was a little light. Italian sausage and peeper was good. The peppers are tiny little green ones (see picture). Bright vibrant color and flavor. Very GREEN tasting. Italian sausage, wax pepper and red onion pizza was good. Not my style but they liked it. A big concern was how burnt my pizza would be. Many burnt pizzas in Yelp pics. All of ours were cooked perfectly. No burnt, a little char, overall A+ This is similar to true Italian pizza. We spent a few weeks in Italy last year and I can honestly say it is a good likeness. Is it the best ever? Ehh I don't know. Crust is a little soft but I don't mind that. We are big fans of another za house on Woodward who has crunchier crust. We will continue to do carry out @c. Small parking area so either you are lucky and catch someone leaving (because they are always packed) or park short distance away and brave crossing Main Street. It was nasty and raining outside, so I didn't see what was on the ground floor as we ascended the stairs to the host stand for Bigalora. I was just glad the stairs were salted and made it up without mishap, while carrying a car seat. They do not take reservations, so be prepared to wait. If you are lucky enough to get a seat at the little bar or patio lounge area, your wait won't be so bad. We were told 25 minutes for a Four-top but it was only about 10 minutes. Just long enough for the guys to order beers. Two draft beers were $15. That was a surprise, but no matter. No highchairs to be had and the tables are really close together. Very modern and minimal decor, yet inviting and fresh. Good TV placements to keep up with the game while at dinner. The baby with us is an angel so no issue, but if you have an active one, I wouldn't recommend bringing him/her. The menu is perfect. Great selection without over-doing it. We ordered a bottle of Italian red that was just tasty. Pizzas are excellent and come out quick. The olive oil on the table is infused with a bit of spice, that is quite a surprise but quickly becomes addicting. Choose a pizza and customize, but if you are lucky, you have a fellow diner you can share with to order a pizza and pasta to try both! Don't forget the prosciutto. Oh my, it is simply the best. I ordered mine on the side to add to my pizza, as I went. My friend ordered hers on the pizza and it did go in the oven but wasn't compromised. Pizzas are fired for only about 5 minutes. Your food comes out fast! I had the mushroom white pizza and was very happy with it. My husband liked the little pepperonis on his pizza. Friend's pasta was excellent, fresh and looked like house-made noodles. I look forward to trying the gnocchi. The tiramisu was okay. It would have been better if it wasn't served mostly frozen, which was a disappointing. Texture is a big factor in this dessert. Olives, entrees, added prosciutto and two desserts was $50. I loved the capricciosa pizza. I had a whole one, which was described as "medium personal"-sized. Besides that, my favorite appetizer was the potato croquettes. The rest of the table enjoyed the brussel sprouts, tiramisu, and Nutella strawberry pizza. I have been recommended the baccarat sausage pizza.
