The ambiance is great here and everyone is progressional and very friendly. The food was good too but I would to have say it was just good. I got their cauliflower soup which was absolutely delicious and wonderfully flavored but I thought the grain salad that I ordered with it was just okay and made me long for more flavor. I've heard good things about this place so I decided to try it. I have heard it is the most authentic Neapolitan pizza. I saw fresh buffalo mozzarella on the menu, as well as some other indications that this pizza might be legit. I walk in a saw the wood fire oven and was excited to try this. I got home and opened up the box and could not have been more disappointed. There had to be no more than 3oz of cheese on this pizza. I get its a margherita pizza but this had much less than traditional margherita pizzas as well as the other pictures on yelp. Some traditional pizzas have very little cheese so I guess that is subjective, however the bigger problem was that the pizza went in what should be a 900+ degree oven and was still uncooked. Dough was still raw in the middle, and the cheese wasn't really melted. The light flakey crust is what makes this style of pizza, and mine had the consistency of Little Caesars crazy bread. All this would not be that bad if their pizza wasn't $15.50 for the same size as small chain pizza with the same quality. Tomatoes Apizza is far superior to this place in every way and their small is a little bigger and much better. If you are looking for a better pizza this particular style try Market North End. Not Bigalora. Very disappointing. read more

Best experience my boyfriend and I have had at a restaurant in a while. The menu is perfect I love everything about it. It's how every menu should look in 2018. Grass fed beef free range chicken and vegan options. The food came out fast and tasted great everything was fresh and flavorful. The atmosphere was wonderful the patio was clean and spacious. Our sever Cass was super friendly knowledgeable and prompt. I didn't have to ask her for a box or wait for her to do anything. Plates were cleared from the table as soon as we finished. First time! OMG! Delicious pizza! You will not be disappointed with this place. I honestly had a hard time deciding between the pizza and their pasta, but my friend and I went with the pizza. She got sausage with red sauce and I got the salmon pizza with white sauce instead of red (I don't eat pork). Idk the last time I had pizza with white sauce on thin crust, but it was so good and had just the right amount of salmon on it. I didn't try my friends sausage pizza, but she said that it was pretty good. Our drinks were made well and our server was cool. My wife and I had dinner there on Friday June 10 2016. We ordered a Focaccia with our salad which never came after we finished our salads the waiter which was MIA who was the bartender said he forgot to put it in. When we were finishing our salads my wife saw my pasta w/meatball dinner was sitting under the warming lights. 10 minutes later our focaccia arrived. My wife had ordered Salmon prepared medium and was served well done. My pasta was so over cooked due to sitting under the warming lamps and the meatballs were as dry as sand. Needless to say our service really sucked and all of that for a mere $47.00. We also noticed that much of the staff was eating at the bar because it was early.....around 5:00pm and there were not many customers in the place. We will not be back. read more

I've eaten at Bigalora in Southfield, it was a much different experience than the Royal Oak location tonight. We had fried calamari, it was so lightly fried that most pieces didn't have breeding, and was obviously made from frozen, tasteless. The risotto balls gave the flavor of breaded rice. Which is essentially what it is I get that. But the risotto balls have meat & cheese in them! We ordered the Italian ham pizza. It had more olives than cheese, and the toppings in general covered about 60% of the pizza. The pizza was the one thing we ordered that at least had flavor. Unfortunately it was overly salty olives on pizza dough. Needless to say, we will not be back and had wished we went to noodles & Co around the corner. read more

The Fried Brussel Sprout White Pizza is amazing. Olive Oil, Garlic, Cheese, Panchetta and topped with beautifully seasoned and crispy brussel sprouts. It's definitely my favorite, although they all look tasty. My wife recently ordered the Steak Frites and it looked OK - small cut of meat in my opinion but it was cooked perfectly and served with plenty of fries. Kids menu includes the usual suspects; Cheese Pizza, pasta, etc. and each meal comes with gelato... my daughter ordered the Rigatoni and enjoyed it. One of my two favorite pizzerias- in fact, one of the only two pizzerias I go to, as they know how to make real Italian pizza, with a thin crust and dough that's had a long rise to develop taste and texture. This is a crust that stands on its own and not just a platter for gooey cheese and tomato sauce. I recommend the Margherita pizza, which is as close to a real Neapolitan pizza as you'll find outside of Napoli. Let me start by saying the service here is great. So quick and everyone is very friendly. My boyfriend and I went on a date here before going to a comedy show in Royal Oak and we got in and out very quickly which was great. I ordered a glass of red wine and my boyfriend ordered a craft beer on tap. They had a large drink selection. We started with a salad that we shared- the Bigalora Chopped salad and it was delicious. The veggies were fresh and the red wine vinaigrette was very light. We ordered two pizzas to share; the Pesto Genovese and the Bacco Sausage. They have a list of white pizzas and a list of red pizzas so we wanted to try one of each. I will start by saying the Bacco Sausage was much better than the Pesto Genovese. The pizza was over cooked and the dough/crust had no flavor. It tasted a lot like cardboard. Pesto Genovese needed more pesto and more pine nuts. The Bacco sausage like I said was much better but the crust was still over cooked. The toppings on the Bacco Sausage had good flavor. I would consider giving it another try because I love thin crust pizza but I think that their pizza is no higher quality than a fast food pizza like Blaze. read more

We frequent Bigalora pretty regularly and have never had a bad dish here. We like to come early during happy hour for $2 off beers. If you come early, there is never a wait. The beer list is pretty good. The ambiance is fun and a little loud (which is great for families with children). We probably have had every server on the payroll over the years and everyone has been friendly and efficient. For starters we have tried the risotto balls, the tuscan fries, the meatballs, and the calamari. The tuscan fries are awesome. They are a must. The risotto balls were pretty darn good too. For salads we have tried the vineyard salad and the roasted beet salad. The vineyard salad was very good but the roasted beet salad is RIDICULOUS. I would have to say it's probably one of my all time favorites. I order this salad EVERY TIME. I can't stop myself. For pizzas, my husband's favorite is the bacco sausage which I agree is pretty awesome. We have also had the wood roasted vegetable pizza which was very good but ask for a fried egg on top. The prosciutto di parma was very good, the crispy brussel sprout pizza was a crowd pleaser, the funghi pizza is awesome for shroom lovers, and the sausage and peppers is a good choice for those who don't like spicy foods. I have yet to try the manila clam pizza but that is next on my list! We have also tried a number of entrees including the chicken parmigiana and tuscan steak frites. The chicken parmigiana is as good as it can get and is a hit with my toddler! If you aren't feeling pizza when you go, definitely try the chicken parmigiana! The steak frites was pretty good but the steak was a pretty small portion. For desserts, we have had the gelato and sorbetto. Both are delicious. I also tried the sea salt caramel parfait which was awesome but I thought it was a pretty small portion for a $9 dessert. Overall we really enjoy eating at Bigalora. We go probably once a month but we try not to go more than that because it can get very pricey very fast. Our last visit was a $70 bill including tip to feed 2 adults and a toddler. We usually have some leftovers but that still is pretty expensive for a casual meal. read more

My husband and I visited Bigalora for the first time last week. He had spaghetti and meatballs and I had a pizza. We both really liked the thin crust on the pizza and the sauce. My pizza was definitely better than his pasta. Our only real gripe is our waiter who never once came back to our table and asked us if we needed anything additional. We tried to get his attention but he was wearing a baseball cap with the bill pulled down over his eyes and I don't know how he was seeing anything at all. I use to LOVE this place but Saturday night was an all around disappointment. We've been telling our friends how great the pizza is here. The waitress first brought the chopped salad, which we always enjoy but it was tasteless and lacked dressing. When she brought our friend's mushroom pizza, it was so badly charred and burned that it was laughable that they would actually think this pizza was acceptable! (What are you smoking???)We sent it back and when she brought the new one, it barely had any mushrooms on it. I've had this pizza twice at the other location and it's usually piled high with wonderful mushrooms. The first warm day, and we came here to try the patio. Being parents of a little guy, we got here for a very early dinner, and the patio was basically empty, but starting to fill up as we left. We were there during their happy hour time. We ordered some of their yummy looking appetizers, a roasted root vegetable dish and olives and one other dish. We also ordered a funghi pizza which was very delicious. We shared these dishes between the 2.5 of us, and it was plenty of food. We also had some of their delicious wines by the glass, of which they had a very good selection. Great atmosphere. Good food. Highly recommend seasonal gelato or a parfait. Great vegetarian options and vegan options. The tables aren't that comfortable if you are in a large group, but good for a small group of 4 or less although it looks like there way have been additional seating up the stairs. Unfortunately not wheelchair or handicap accessible so one of my friends couldn't make it as the restaurant is up a flight of stairs. The pizza is a nice thin crust and I liked the options of red pizza and white pizza. Great selection of appetizers. The brussel sprouts and the sweet potatoes were good. New location in Plymouth. Ordered hot (temperature) olives, and the Brussels sprout appetizers. The hot olives were delicious, and you get plenty too - I'm also glad they are the olives WITH pits. Brussels sprouts were the typical cut in half, fried crispy. I liked em, very crispy - but a little heavy on the balsamic vinegar for my tastes. Split an order of the wood smoked wings and a margherita pizza. The bone-in wings were delicious - meaty (50/50 mix of drumette vs wing) and had a nice hot peppery and smoky taste to them, not crazy spicy, but you will know it! The pizza was pretty good too. The crust was thin, and had that wonderful gluten'y stretch to the dough that makes a pizza. I did not care for the sweetness in the red sauce though. I would have liked to have seen a few more dollops of mozzarella cheese on the pizza, as the uneven distribution meant that some slices only had red sauce (no cheese) - nobody fought over getting those cheese-less slices. The staff was very attentive and friendly, drinks were creative and tasty, and overall a nice dining experience. Hands down, my all time favorite restaurant. The food isn't to die for, although the strozapretti is one step away from laying on my death bed good. It's the atmosphere and the hospitality that keeps me coming back. Whether you're sitting at the bar watching sitcoms, sports or news laying down some lingo with who I consider to be a greatest hits of bartenders, two of which come from The Oakland in ferndale. Enjoying a quaint date night. Or partying with a large group of chums at one of there banquet tables. You will not be disappointed. The food is GREAT, there is a full selection of craft cocktails, micro brews and wine. And it has the best lighting and architecture of all restaurants I've been too. We came on a Monday night and it wasn't too busy. The parking situation was a little annoying, as their parking lot is very small. We got a table right away and it seemed like a good date spot because there were a lot of other couples there. Our server was prompt and very kind. We split the margherita pizza and it was SO GOOD!! It was really filling and we definitely didn't finish it all. They also have a good beer selection and the wheat (I can't remember the name) was pretty good. If you love Italian pizza this is the place for you. The pizza is the best I have ever had! I got a goat cheese and mushroom pizza with pesto, it was hot crispy and delicious. My husband got a spicy meal lovers pizza with a red sauce that was also amazing tons of toppings. The prices are super fair for the great pizza you get. We also had the salted camel dessert, which blew my mind. It was creamy and salty all the way through not just a tiny salt on top. I have been coming to Bigalora Since they opened. Came in last night 7/28 and was told that it would be a 35 minute wait and they would text me. Told the hosts we were going downstairs to Cloverleaf wine store to buy some wine. They texted me and since I was not up within five minutes gave my table away. Eight minutes is too long to wait for your guests to come upstairs from Cloverleaf. They then told me it would be another 20 minute wait. Dinner was just average. The Seabass was a very small portionand more sauce then fish Not great . The chicken parmesan was overcooked but lucky to have pasta to add to the sauce from the fish.
