Came here during the week for lunch with my girlfriends. My one friend and I got two different types of their cutlet sandwiches. They were a pretty big size for a good price. The cutlet themselves were pretty tasty. My friend got the buffalo chicken salad and she liked it, but she wished she got a cutlet sandwich after seeing them. A small, casual sandwich local chain that hits the spot Tony Boys has cutlet sandwiches, cold and hot subs, ribeye cheesesteaks, chopped salads, milkshakes, cookies and chips. We stopped in for a quick bite and enjoyed the tuna melt and the American chicken cutlet (both $13.50). The bread was borderline not soft enough and the chicken cutlet slightly dry but the sandwiches were filled nicely. Service was not quick but we were ok with that, if it was made with care. Well let me start with the parking situation is terrible which is not unusual to Montclair. Be sure to park in the parking deck or be certain to get a nice little white gift (parking violation). I ordered the chicken cutlet "Murph" and the Brooklyn Cheese steak. I felt the price point of $34 for two sandwiches was expensive however, after getting the crazy large sandwiches I see why they cost so much. The Brooklyn could use more meat and the Murph was pretty stuffed. I recommend getting one sandwich and share as they are pretty large. The bread is exceptional and tastes like it's from my favorite in town bakery (Nicolo's). I did have a small piece of bacon in my cheese steak but I'm sure it was in error. Translated, please make sure the grills are cleaned in between orders #staff. Great embracement of MONTCLAIR MOUNTIES with the custom wall paper. Overall, it's worth a try. read more

I hate to say something bad about a small local place but the chicken cutlets were wayyy too dry and didn't taste fresh. Service was good and the balsamic, roasted peppers, and mozzarella tasted fine but the sandwich should have been warmer and the chicken cutlets shouldn't have been so dry and thin. I tried the tuna melt at Tony Boy's Sandwiches and it was absolutely delicious. The tuna was flavorful, the bread was perfectly toasted, and the melted cheese brought everything together really well. It tasted fresh and well-made, not overly heavy but still really satisfying. You can tell they care about the quality of their sandwiches. A friend from Montclair recently recommended the sandwich shop to me and holy cow. I am so glad I went here. They have an amazing array of hot and cold sandwiches on their menu. I was visiting a friend with a new baby so brought over lunch the other day. She loved her chipotle chicken sandwich, which had the right amount of spice. I ordered their Stallone sandwich with chicken. Nice amount of pepperoni, mozzarella and oil. The sandwiches are large enough that you will have leftovers which is always a nice perk. Excellent service- I had placed a phone order and the sandwiches were ready within 15 minutes. I can't wait to go back to try some more of their amazing sandwiches. read more

Opted for the avocado toast & a side of fries & it didn't disappoint. Was filling without being too heavy & very tasty! The fries were also not oily or greasy. Browsing the menu you'll find alot of different flavors & combos...and the manager also shared that all the cutlet options can be created with an eggplant substitute! Sorry to review a place after going there only once... but it was so not-good, I feel I need to share - so, you can decided if it sounds right for you. -The bread was just a little bit stale. -The eggplant was not fresh (or tasty), the breading was mushy, and bits of the inside were under cooked and hard. -The vodka sauce was nice, but there was about 1/3 as much as the sandwich needed - especially with the stale bread -The mozz was correct, and there was the right proportion so, overall, my sandwich was dry, stale and tasteless. I live in Montclair, not far from Church street, and walk my dog daily in the neighborhood. A few months ago I noticed the old tea store was closed up and another business was going to take over the space. The name of the new business was called Tony Boys Sandwich Shop. Nobody loves a great sandwich more than me so I was super excited to see this. I had never heard of Tony Boys so I explored them online. I see that they are an established business with 3 other locations in New Jersey. I then looked at the reviews and was really impressed with all the awesome comments. I told my wife as soon as they open we must be one of the first customers to try it out. This past Monday was opening day and I was there for dinner. It was so hard to choose as I wanted to try almost everything on the menu. We ended up going with the west coast, which is Avocado, Bacon, Swiss & Mayo. We added tomato and lettuce as well. I had the sandwich with the chicken cutlets and my wife had it with the eggplant. Both sandwiches were delicious! The chicken cutlets were prepared perfectly. Also the sandwiches were stacked with lots of "stuff". I loved the vibe of the restaurant. There are a bunch of tables for indoor dining and the space was decorated very nicely. The employees that worked there were incredibly friendly and were helpful in helping me decide what to order. I meet the owner Mike who appeared to be very proud of what he accomplished. Very nice young man who I hope is very successful with this endeavor.
