Chinese Bakery is on the "magic" list, because, though they don't make the best dan tat, they do make them, and they're not terrible, and that saves me a trip to somewhere else. And, as a bonus, just around the corner from A-Chau is Paris Bakery, whose excellent breads, pâtisseries and Viet specialties make me glad I live nearby. The place is owned and operated by an accomplished baker, the smart and funny Khanh, and her high-energy husband, Johnny. These cheerful, friendly folks are skillful, dependable and dedicated to producing quality baked goods, which makes them, for me, at least, the best sort of neighbors. I especially enjoyed listening to the various musicians that performed. I regret not arriving sooner so I could have seen more. The only downside to the event was just how crowded the venue was. There were a few things my group had wanted to do but couldn't get to due to line lengths. But it wasn't too much of a loss, as we still got most of the experience.
