Have been a customer for many years and always pleased with the service, knowledge and friendliness of all the staff. Our most recent purchase was a Kitchen Aid double wall oven a little over 2 years ago. Long story short, there were manufacture issues with this oven that surfaced after the warranty ran out. Vandegrift expertly serviced the issue, but it kept re-occurring. Received no satisfaction from Kitchen Aid. Vandegrift's made a second service call on same issue and did not charge a service fee as they understood the problem was with the manufacturer. This is how a local, family-owned business treats its customers, unlike the big box stores that sell appliances. Needless to say, with Kitchen Aid's lack of caring or understanding, we ordered a new GE Profile double wall oven. Vandegrift's secured the new oven and installed it within 3 days, understanding that we had been without an oven for several weeks due to issues with the Kitchen Aid. The day after installation, received a call from Lindsey Vandegrift to follow up on the installation and to ask if the new oven was working and were we pleased. Another reason to do business with a local, family business. I never received a call or response from anything I ever purchased at a big box home center. what a great place !!! I actually had a person pick up the phone and said how can I help you? I needed a washing machine spoke with the sales person. I had the whole thing done less than 15 minutes. No delivery fee no pick up fee of all appliance and install all for the one price of the washing machine. I called the other places and nobody would pick up the phone. My husband and I have happily done business with the Vandegrifts for more than 35 years....last year, late summer early fall I went to them with hubby for a new fridge to replace my 13 YO LG, which was giving up the ghost....what they sold me was a Kitchenaid...good brand, right...NO...this thing is a piece of SH$T! The drawers wrack, the "easy close" bottom fridge door does NOT close unless you give it a good push...the space is no where near what I asked for, which was comparable to my LG...which, by the way, from a manufacture perspective was very much superior to this unit, to be nice...it keeps the food cold...the freezer works...the icemaker spews cubes everywhere when the freezer drawer is opened...sometimes into the bottom of the freezer where you cannot reach, or remove anything to get there, usually onto the floor for someone to slip on...the worst this is, that I called the store left a scathing message with a request for response...what I got was someone laughing in their response as if this were all a joke. Consider this, the next time you go to a "trusted" vendor. read more

The owner Lindsay told me she would call her attorney if we left a bad review. Her intimation did not work. This was our third and FINAL purchase. We bought a dishwasher and paid BV to install it. The installer partly installed it, but he did not have all the parts, and he told us he would be back in a few days...he never came back or called until we had the machine removed from our home. The dishwasher would not dry, and they stopped working altogether. BV was no help, and we did call the manufacturer and were able to get a refund only because the manufacturer stepped in . BV still charged us for an install they never completed and refused to refund it, and the dishwasher was removed for being a lemon. It was about $290. I even offered to split it and was told NO...total rip-off for charging us for something that was NEVER completed We try to buy mom & pop but this kind of purchase you are better at big box stores. Our experience with a variety of appliances has been great. As a long-time property owner I know how frustrating it can be to deal with vendors who make you wish you could leave a no-star review. I feel badly for those on here whose experience has not been as excellent as ours. Given all the issues that we know can arise, we haven't the confidence that another retailer will be as responsive. Vandergrift came out free of charge to measure and insure that our new stove will correctly fit. Indeed, they advised against a much more expensive stove that would have fit issues. Their price for our purchase was no more than anyone else's and were actually cheaper after adding the install/take-away. They did not upsell us on the necessity of a new power cord that elsewhere was a $40-$60 charge. Their installer made the modifications to the space that was needed for a proper fit without charge. We have always been pleased with their in-house service. We have found everyone nice to work with. We are disappointed that the GE stove we just bought is not serviced by Vandegrift but they told us that up front. Meanwhile, they got it promptly at a very competitive price. I will add for those who will read this review that many of the very "high-end/high dollar" appliances are poorly rated by Consumers Reports and that is consistent with our own anecdotal experience. No amount of service, no matter how well-meaning, will compensate for an expensively constructed but poorly engineered product. read more

Our dishwasher failed last May right at the beginning of the pandemic. It took this long to find an available Bosch dishwasher. The only one available was the top of the line $1200 model. We bought it. The installation was done within a week of agreeing to purchase the appliance. The installer was friendly and professional. He did a very good job. This is much better than the big box stores who say they have installation, but then something always goes wrong because the installation is non-standard. We are very happy to finally get the dishwasher replaced. The bottom line is that we will continue to use Bill Vandegrift when we need new home appliances. We like supporting local businesses that do a good job. read more

We bought a drier which was more expensive at Bill Vandergrift because we thought we would get better service for the extra money. Boy were we wrong about that. It was a series of bad customer service including not informing us of a several hundred dollar installation fee. If they had warned us about the extra fee I would have installed it myself. Very disappointed with the store under daughter Lindsey's mis-management on the customer service side at least. Purchased a Bosch Condensate dryer and was told there was " a little bit of wipe up in the access area where the water drains occasionally". It was during the pandemic and we had little choice and Bosch has always been a trusted manufacturer. After less than 4 years the DR error kicked in rendering my drier impossible to use without excessive clearing of the condensate pump well. Long story short, Vandegrifts techs (2 visits) erroneously cut the hose creating even more of an issue at a cost to us of $249.10 . When Bosch was called in and another $445.93 spent to change the pump I was told I had to make sure to keep the well in the back of the drier condensate access area free from lint and water. That means going downstairs to turn off the breaker, and opening the well access panel in a very tight / dark space with barely room for my arm/hand to reach and then wiping out the well to soak up the water and lint that escapes the lint filter and for some reason isn't pumped out by the machines pump. Further I have to do this every time according to Bosch. How Vandegrift could knowingly see this arduous piece of high dollar appliance is a mystery to me but more importantly, for 3 months I've been waiting for service to return with a replacement hose for the one they cut. Lindsey Vandegrift, the store mis-manager, has a short memory and when reminded by me that this is still an outstanding issue repeats the same nonsense about following up with Bosch to get a resolution but NEVER answers the question about a refund for the mis-service call or the replacement hose. From what I can see she has driven the customer service side of the business into the ground with little respect for her customer's concerns and rote answers that result in no action on Vandegrift's part. Oh and evidently she threatens legal action if you write a bad review. read more

The service is terrible, we were delivered a defective product and left without a dishwasher for an extended period of time and the company refused to refund us for the delivery issues after months of us having to follow up without hearing back. We should have went to Lowe's to begin with, this is not the type of experience I'd expect from a mom and pop shop. Extremely disappointed. read more

A month now, cause they messed around not just half trying to figure things out. She states she will get back to you but never does. The single star is specifically for the washer and dryer. Not the other three appliances. My wife and I wanted to finally purchase from an appliance specialist store instead of a big box. So we ended up choosing Bill Vandegrift Inc., fully expecting to depend on their professional product knowledge and service. The appliances were for our forever home, the home we plan to retire in and spend the next 20 plus years. After several discussions we ordered over $10,000 of appliances including: gas range, dishwasher, drawer microwave, washer and dryer. All interaction has been outstanding except for the washer and dryer or (w/d). I provided specific details about noise concerns for the w/d. This was to be our third front load washer. And I had replaced parts on both previous washers as part of five to seven year maintenance. The sales person suggested only one brand and one model and informed us we would have no issues with noise. After over four months and numerous service visits we are stuck with brand new w/d that are louder then what we replaced. Bill Vandegrift will not replace or let us return for credit to purchase alternatives. Not what I expected from a stand alone professional appliance store. Less than 2 years ago, Instead of shopping at Home Depot or Lowe's or Gephardt's, we decided to try a local privately owned-and- run appliance store. Bought an expensive Maytag which was recommended, with French doors and bottom freezer and water dispenser for our new home. I was silly enough to trust the Maytag name. We have had more problems with this than I have ever had with an appliance, and I have bought many of them! After purchasing AIG insurance on parts (for more than $400...). 1. The door never closes all the way, it must be pushed hard or it won't close and beeps. A technician said that they are made that way. Very annoying. 2. Next, one of the chilling drawers broke, after less than a year. 3. Now the level which regulates the ice maker won't stay up, and we have an overflow of ice all the time. Waited more than a day for a technician to call us back. Then my husband was told by the insurer that we have to find our own Maytag technician because there are none in the area. Bucks County, PA! Then they will reimburse us. 4. Back and forth with the store, they are still waiting for authorization from AIG. Meanwhile, we can't regulate the ice and can't turn it off, so we are stuck at home until its corrected! Unless we want to find ice all over the floor when we return home. I couldn't make this up! So we shopped local and trusted a name brand, but probably won't again. If we don't get someone from AIG out by tomorrow, we'll have to call a local tech and pay them. Oh, and I am sure that we can find a tech who repairs Maytag! read more

Very negative experience - misleading promises to secure a sale; low quality work with installations and no follow up. This was for a high end ($8K) built in refrigerator. The worst part was that Lindsay (manager / owner) kept giving empty promises and not following through. My family has used Vandegrifts to repair appliances for more than 20 years, but after my last experience I won't be anymore. I called for service on a range top because one burner wasn't working. I had to wait more than a month for someone to come out. The day before he was due to arrive I got a reminder call from the company asking for credit card info. The tech came and turnEd the dials for the burners off and on to determine that one burner wasnot working - which I already knew. Then we had to wait several weeks for the new part to arrive. when my credit card bill arrived I discovered I had been charged $95 for the tech to come out (to do nothing but turn the dials). not only do I think that is a ridiculously high charge for doing nothing, I was never informed of what that charge would be. for years, when someone from Vandegrifts came to make a repair it was one reasonably priced visit - those days are over. I wouldn't recommend this company unless you like high-priced poor service and surprise charges. read more

Best place ever to but appliances. We purchased our entire kitchen suite here and it was painless. Other dealers whined that our preferred brand (Electrolux Icon) was too hard to get. Last week our washer died. They delivered a new washer /dryer pair the next day. It might have been the same day had we called before 2 PM. No other store, local or chain, comes close to their level of service. We usually deal with the founder's great-granddaughter. With their level of service, and good prices, I expect this business will last another 4 generations. read more

I played house-sitter for a friend who had a washer and dryer delivered and installed by installers from Bill Vandegrift. They arrived when they said they would, were super friendly, and quickly had both installed and went on their merry way. I was expecting a nightmare day of waiting for them to show up, and spend hours tracking dirt through the house and messing up the laundry room, but I was very pleasantly surprised! My friend also had nothing but glowing reviews for her entire shopping experience with the company. I'll definitely be hitting them up next time we need a replacement or upgrade for our appliances! read more

Needed a stackable washer/dryer for a rental unit. Figured that I would pay more and let them deliver and install. During installation I was told that I needed an additional 220 outlet for the washer. Installer told me that the salesperson should have made me aware of that. Because of this, they could not complete the installation. He told me that service manager would contact me. After 4 days, no one called. I got my electrician out to install the proper outlet. He laughed... the washer plugs into the dryer. Idiot me! I even tipped them... and still no one has called me to see if my washer even works. Glad I paid for such crappy installers. I emailed them... still no reply! I should have gone elsewhere. Very disappointing. Everyone is friendly when taking my money, when an issue arises no one is around to help. read more

I had a very poor experience with Bill Vandergrift;s customer service after purchasing a high end Electrolux dryer that was a lemon. I had the need for 6 separate service calls for several different problems (all well documented). The front door of the dryer had to be replaced when it wouldn't close, interior material sucked in some clothes and that material/lining needed to be replaced. When an independent service company came out, they found a large interior dent that was hitting the drum and this dent was not at all visible from the exterior. It was obviously delivered in this condition. Still they would not take the initiative to simply replace the unit on their own. I asked them to simply replace the dryer which was problematic from early on and they refused. Only after repeated service calls and my ongoing persistence, did they finally begin to call Electrolux to ask them for a replacement. Since I was the customer, I felt strongly that they should replace the unit and work it out separately with Electrolux. They refused. Instead, I waited weeks while I was without a working dryer for them to negotiate with Electrolux. I had to call Bill Vandergrift's store and speak daily with the owner's daughter, Lindsay, to get any results. Absent my persistence, I am certain nothing would have been done. When the unit was finally replaced by their delievery person, I was asked to sign the paperwork as is customary but then their serviceman refused to leave a copy of the signed paperwork. This is clealry wrong and unconventional. I called Lindsay who said copies would be mailed and I explained that I expected to receive unaltered copies of signed receipts which to date, have not been received. With many other retailers who sell appliances, we would highly recommend you go elsewhere and to a company that is focused on providing higher levels of customer service. Thank you. Lyn G read more

THE ONLY PLACE YOU SHOULD EVER BUY APPLIANCES!! I'm "Old School" and always look for a fair price AND good service. (This is known as VALUE) I have friends who always look for CHEAP everything, at The Big Box home improvement stores. They are the folks who you see the delivery trucks at their houses four days in a row, as they deliver dented, broken JUNK, then pick it up and deliver more dented, broken JUNK several times, until the appliance is good enough to keep. That's what you get when CHEAP is your goal. Bill provides GREAT service, as well as prices on QUALITY appliances you can't beat. Unlike the big boxes, he has employees who actually know how to service what he sells, and they are GOOD. I called and checked on a water filter for a Sub Zero. Was told it was in stock and would be held at the desk with my name. It was $50.00. I went the next day, no filter in stock , it had to be ordered. Went I arrived home there was a message that the filter was in. I went back the next day and picked it up. I now was charged $75, not $50. I went home and looked it up on Sub Zero's site, it sells for $49.95. I called Vandergrift to report it and they were rude and just didn't care. read more

It is an unusual place to do business with. Everything about my transaction with them was messy and stressful from the order to the financing and right to the end when their delivery people damaged my entry door and have yet to replace it. It's been 6 months. They tried to force me to take a lower quality replacement door than what was damaged. Then, when I would not accept this substandard offer, they went silent. I wanted to do the right thing and "shop small, buy local" but, at this point, I could not recommend this company to anyone. All I wanted was to buy a refrigerator, have it delivered and get on with my life. Here I am 6 months later still stuck dealing with these people. Not worth the aggravation. read more

We bought a stove and a portable air conditioner here on two separate occasions, and were treated with courtesy by everyone from inside sales to installers. I was told that i would be taken good care of at BV appliances. This in fact is false. they quoted and shipped me the wrong stove, parts were broken that i had to contact the supplier myself for replacement parts. They were supposed to do the install and setup of my dishwasher and they did not. they were helpful before i placed my order, but after spending nearly $15K in appliances, they left me high and dry. promises not fulfilled and calls not returned. do yourself a favor and go elsewhere for appliances. you can get everything cheaper at lowes. read more
