It has been awhile since I have brought my wife's car to Bill Wright Toyota and I was reminded once again why I stopped coming in the first place. I made an appointment for 12:30 and showed up at 12:20. The check in process was smooth, the doughnuts they provided were good, and the beverages were cold. However, I was given an estimate of about an hour for an oil change. Nearly 2.5 hours later I am still waiting. I thank my lucky stars I bought a Honda and have it serviced at Barber Honda. I have never waited more than about 45 minutes with their express service. I hope that in the future Bill Wright builds a dedicated bay (or bays) for express services like Barber Honda. read more

I'm writing this review to clear up any misconceptions people may have about Toyota service department. We currently own two Toyota vehicles. We have had both of them for four years. On average due to the high mileage we drive I am taking one of the vehicles in every other month. I never make an appointment and it's never been a problem. I'm usually out of there in an hour and a half max. Every service technician I have dealt with has been nothing but exceptional. If there's anything besides routine service that needs to be done, they go over it with me and give me a quote and have me sign it before they start the work. I am now looking for a new car due to the fact that my teenagers have taken the two Toyotas. I am too worried to go to any other dealership in town due to the exceptional quality of Toyota service I have always had. I'm wondering if all the bad reviews I have read are true because in the 30+ times I have used Toyota service in the past four years it's been nothing but five star quality. read more

On Monday I purchased a certified used 2014 Rav4 from Robert Miller at Bill Wright Toyota. It was an excellent experience. Robert was friendly and helpful, and not pushy at all. He knew what I wanted and didn't try to up-sell me on anything else. He was also really nice to my dog, Rhino, who came along for the ride. Robert allowed me to take the car on an extended test drive, so I could see how it handled on the highway and on city streets. He handled all my paperwork efficiently and was super nice while doing it. When I went over to Andy to sign all the official paperwork, he was also incredibly efficient and kind. When the transaction was over, Robert got in the car with me to make sure that I knew how to sync my phone with Bluetooth, get all my mirrors set up right, and even turned the passenger seat warmer on low in anticipation that my dog would like that when she eventually migrated up to the front. He then called me about 5 minutes after I got on the road just to make sure that my phone sync was working properly. I really can't say enough good things about the experience that I had with Robert Miller and the rest of the team at Bill Wright Toyota. My prius got a msg that I didn't know what it means since its my first hybrid. I called the dealership and asked to speak to a service advisor, the first I spoke to, didn't know anything of what I was talking about, i don't understand how he's at the service dep if he cant answer any questions, but he was able to tell me just to diagnose the problem would be $145 which made me somewhat discouraged and made me feel he was not interested in helping me and earning my loyal business but just to get the $145. I called again at a later time and spoke to Ino Alvarado another service advisor, I told him about my car and he explained clearly what I needed to do, how the car would be service, how long would it take and most importantly why it needed to be done. I felt very confident with him because I felt he cared about my safety, my car and genuinely care to earn my business. If you decide to take your car there for service, go with Ino Alvarado he truly knows about cars, is honest and cares about the customers. Specially when you're a woman and many places take advantage of that and not knowing about cars but with him that will not be the case. Customer service has been going downhill and it seems to me those working the front greeting customers who have an apt are not taking things serious. I waited in my car for over 30 mins while watching everyone play around. Nothing was done. I came back the next day, dropped off my car and took the shuttle home. I get quoted a bill over $2,300 for something that can be fixed for $500 plus tax and better warranty with a brand new part at a reputable local service and repair shop. What a rip off. I'm choosing not to bring my car to this Toyota dealership anymore due to a number of extremely unfavorable customer service experiences I've had with front line workers and advisers. It's sad. At one point this was the place to go to, now they take things for granted and got lax with everything. read more

This is probably the worst dealer I have ever been to. I have been all over the US (for work) and I have had my Toyota for years and all the dealers have been warm welcoming and helpful, yet this location has proven on several occasions that they do not want my business. They have been rude, dismissive, curt, insulting and useless at helping me. 1st visit 7 years ago I go with $10,000 down (cash in hand) and they offer me a 2000 ford probe. (I found what I wanted for an appropriate price). 2nd 2 months ago my husband and I go looking to put down a large down payment on a brand new car. We walk in and get treated like trash. Ignored and spoken to like children. 3rd I have my new car ( from a dealership out of town, reasonable price and we get treated like human adults). I call the intown dealer and ask for help. I am so disappointed in the service at this location. We have had our Toyota Highlander for a year now. We bought it you used certified because we have young children and we needed something reliable. we also bought the limited AWD model because we liked everything that was included in it. In this year that we have had it, there's been nothing but unacceptable and unsatisfactory service. I am so upset with the vehicle that they sold us because things have been going out on it. First, the Bluetooth and usb plug stopped working about 2 months after we got it, the AC randomly decides to stop blowing air, Our locks randomly decide to lock. the scariest part is when we're walking to the other side of the vehicle after buckling up our children. And the most recent is our battery going out. A year old vehicle for us and the battery dies. I was out with my children and our SUV didn't turn on. I had to call my husband to come jump me. Our salesman that helped us talked so highly of the used certified vehicles they have there. Nothing he said coincides with what we received. I call to try and get some information on services and I'm talked down to. I get different information from everyone I talk to and I don't know who to believe. read more

Where to start?i gave two stars it would of been just one star or none for troubles I went through but the sales service is great but horrible auto service repairs. I brought my truck in to install a propositional valve for the rear end of the vehicle. I'm mechanic but I had no time to install since was going on vacation out town with my family it was going to cost me close to $900.00 with the part and the part was about rounded to $200.00 which the cost was fine I just wanted it done before I got back in town. Well, I called day after It wasn't done. oh I forgot to mention I had scheduled a appointment for the truck to be worked on the first day and was estimated to be done the same day. I also didn't let them know I was going to be out of town until they call me that way they don't put me on the back burner and I was going to have my brother pick it up with cash on hand. It was no big deal it wasn't done yet I will call towards the end of the day if I don't get a call back sooner. No call, so I called back and the technician said they haven't touched it yet I said is there a problem on installing it they said no but they'll get done by tomorrow I said ok. So I waited for a call back and received nothing and I just let it roll over to the next day since I was coming back in town. Now 4th day I walked into service department and asked if my truck was done they said no haven't got to it I explained how long it took them with no courtesy call on the delay of my truck and technician guy told me it was going be done and that was the day before. He said I don't what went wrong and I said this is not the answer I expected. I expected I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I told service rep I need my truck back and give the part I had ordered from you I'll just pay for the part and put it on myself. They then started to explain it takes a certain procedure and it's best we do it. I said no you had your chance I'll do it myself. I installed the part it took me me no lie 15mins to install and ten additional mins to do the bleeding procedure. I had a lift and the right tools that's why it took that little of time, but dealer service has the same or more tools on hand to beat my time instead they made a no more then 30min job last 4 days. It's been 3 Years now and truck runs and stops perfectly fine no thanks to Bill Wright Toyota service department. read more

We recently leased a car from Toyota for my wife about two months ago. The initial process wasn't bad it was fairly quick they preached to me about their service and quality so I was sold. The next day we took the car to get tinted and when we received it back we were told about a few things they said they would fix immediately. There was a tiny dent. One of the service people cut the leather steering wheel on accident. The panel under the side skirt/fender was not aligned properly. I thought to myself it was really cool they mentioned these things without us even noticing three. We take the car in for a scheduled one day appointment and we're told it would take 3-4 days. So they rescheduled. My I'd takes the car a week later only to be told they didn't schedule the appointment they gave her and she was out of luck and that she couldn't get a rental either.after banning to go myself and complain they gave her a crappy rental took the car still do empty fix it all. It was a very busy day (6-8-17) and I only had a few minutes on my lunch hour, so I went on line to find a contact number for the dealership. Once on the website, I saw a tab for access to an instant chat, so I selected that and within a few seconds I was talking with someone from the dealership. I explained that I only had a few minutes at lunch and asked if I could have the name of someone who I could ask for, who I expected would have the vehicle I wanted ready to examine and possibly drive, if I had time. The person on the chat identified the person I should ask for (John Dyer). When I arrived at the dealership I asked for the person and after waiting for about 10 minutes I was told by the receptionist that she had not been able to get him on the phone. I waited a few more minutes and when he didn't appear, I told her that I would speak to any salesperson. Shortly thereafter, I was met by a salesperson (Aaron) who showed me to the vehicle I was interested in. After checking it out I asked to see another model of vehicle, and the salesman told me he had to retrieve the the keys. Once again I was left waiting. After about 10 minutes, I gave up and left the dealership. The person on the chat also told me I would be contacted by email shortly with information on the vehicle that I wanted. I was never contacted. I wasted most of my lunch hour for a task that should have taken 15-20 minutes tops. I will not be returning to Bill Wright Toyota. read more

If you haven't been to the new digs, oh my goodness you are missing out. It is beautiful, state of the art surroundings. You walk in there and you don't want to leave. They have big TV.s a designated kids room with toys to play with, wifi, plugs in. You feel like you are at a VIP room at an airport or ESPN/HGTV sports room. It is just fantastic. And of course they brought all of their veteran people with to the new place. Almost everyone has worked their for 12 plus years. I love going there. Joey and Medca are of course AWESOME and the people in the garage that work on the cars too. Also, they picked me up in a shuttle, I really appreciate that, because I don't like to use other ride sharing forms of transportation. Even if you don't need your car fixed, you should go check it out. They also are getting a restaurant in there as well. Never seen anything like it. STATE OF THE ART!!!! Best in the nation. I brought my Toyota in to Bill Wright Service Department in Bakersfield for FREE recall work because I recently moved to Frazier Park after my husband's recent brain injury. We are an elderly couple and my husband is cognitively impaired and looking back now, I can see we were easy marks and they saw us coming. I admit, was lulled into a false sense of trust because my previous years dealing with Santa Monica Toyota were without incident. I mentioned to my advisor we were new in town, didn't know many people and were taking their courtesy shuttle to a doctor's appointment and wouldn't be in the waiting room if they needed us until our return from the doctor's appointment. I'm thinking how wonderful they have a shuttle that will take us to a doctor's appointment! In less than an hour, while in the doctor's office, I got a call that the FREE warranty work was done but I would need to pay $3400 because they found a timing chain cover leaking and if I didn't fix it the engine could seize up. My advisor asked if this was our only mode of transportation - it was - and we were more than an hour from home. I believe Bill Wright Toyota took advantage of our vulnerable state. We had no one to call, no mechanic in town and looking back, this came across as a scare tactic when I am already in a difficult position dealing with my husband's brain injury. I don't know a timing chain from a chain saw and I can't ask my husband! I asked the advisor if they were sure they couldn't just change a gasket to fix the leak and I say I didn't see any evidence of any leaks in our driveway and there were no signs or indications we were having a problem. He says the $3400+ is necessary and if I don't have another mode of transportation we'd need to fix it to be safe. I'm between a rock and a hard place. I know I've had a good experience with Toyota, the company, in general and I need the car. I don't have anyway to get home more than 50 miles away so I tell the advisor okay to do the work but I wanted the parts that they removed. We get back to the dealership and the car is ready shortly. They tell us the parts are on the floor on the passenger side of the car and the bill is ready to be paid. Now my husband was sick with head pain and nausea the entire day, so I'm distracted by him and I'm focused on getting my husband in the car, with a nod toward noticing the plastic bag of "parts" and start the long drive home. When I get home I notice the only part in the bag is a gasket. I'm wondering what they did, if they did anything, and realize this scenario is not sitting well with me. I go to YELP and see some questionable reviews, even reviews from people who were charged for work not done. I write Beau Shepard two emails about this, asking for an amicable resolution, explaining the situation, the scare tactics used - he doesn't even reply. I want to discuss the $3200 of LABOR - which amounted to about $800/hour - maybe more than a brain surgeon charges his patients. I'm hoping they will reconsider this and employ some sense of fair play because I feel ripped off and taken advantage of. It's several days later now and I've gotten no replies from the Service Manager Beau Shepard about this situation at all. I'm left to dispute this with AMEX, make a complaint with the BBB and see if the local news might be interested in this sad situation. read more

We were interested in a vehicle for sale at this dealership. We received our first email inquiry, and replied, but never received any follow-up. Sent a second inquiry and received a phone call about 12 hours later. The manager that called back quickly passed us off to someone we could barely understand. That salesman took all info on our potential trade and said he'd call back with more details on the vehicle we were interested in. NEVER hear back from him or the other 2 folks we had heard from. Over 1 1/2 weeks later we finally received a call from the dealership. After the horrible first impression, we didn't even bother to answer. I bought previously leased certified vehicle with trade in. The deal was fair. Bruce worked hard to get the best interest rate available. Lenny listened to my needs and answered all of my questions and was very patient. Eddie closed the deal with some positives and we all left happy. I kept these guys on a Saturday night until 8:00 PM negotiating then came back the following day and we closed the deal. There was no pressure to get me out of the door, and they stayed late until I made the call to return the following day. Service Department As usual 2 to 3 hour for an oil change. This Time 2 Days Later Notice My car is leaking oil. 2 to 3 hours to do bad oil change????. This guy's are order takers the only thing they have in mind is to sell you over price air filters , over price windshield wipers, etc. I have and issue with my car it's a 2013 yards. In the mornings the car dose an squealing noise when cold. Mention this to one of the service department "advisor" when still was under warranty. I told him hey have your mechanic to check that noise maybe just need grease. He told me the couldn't ask a technician just to put grease on any moving parts. To make a my story short. My car has the same issue. I asked to get my car check again today and since I'm over 36k they quote me at $125 "just to check" what's wrong. When back then when my car was under factory warranty they didn't even "suggest" "ADVICE" or put the order to check my vehicle for the noise. As I drove into the parking lot I was greeted by the security guard, inside a lady also welcomed me on a really nice and professional way, then I waited for the person that was supposed to take care of my service, I gentleman of the Name of Dennis Zuniga day hello ask a few questions and invited me to go into the little office, When I sit down start asking questions since I planned to purchase a service plan, that's when Toyota looked the worst I have ever seen. I encounter myself with most, rude, unprofessional and arrogant and unhappy customer service person I ever seen at Toyota. He seems very bother with my very basic questions about the maintenance/service plan and what would he recommend, yet I got my paperwork and proceed to the waiting room, very disappointed but I tell myself that's ok don't bother. After one hour and thirty minutes of been patiently waiting I walk into this gentleman office and on the most nace way "excuse me, you think you can check up on my car and see how much longer it will take" Mr Dennis responded to me again very upset, unprofessional and rude, more of the same. The only reason I'm taking the time to write this review is that I know by fact that this person and he's service don't represent Toyota, however Toyota is allowing this person to represent them. I dread purchasing a vehicle. Why? Because it's always such a pain having to deal with sales people and hearing their B.S. answers to each question. Some don't even know what vehicles they have on the lot. I don't know who hires these people, but whoever is doing the hiring, isn't screening well. Oh, if the Internet sales manager actually hired the sales people here, then that would explain the lousy service. The sales people at Bill Wright Toyota SUCK. I had sent an e-mail to inquire about what Highlanders they had available on the lot and the Internet Sales Manager (this was about a year ago, and I don't remember his name) never did respond and I had to follow-up with another e-mail to see if they got my first e-mail which I knew they did and finally there was a response and not one that was very helpful. He provided such horrible customer service (which I could expect from a sales person, but not a Manager!) that I sent him an e-mail telling him how I decided to go with another dealership, one that was more responsive and actually wanted my business, and he didn't even apologize for his lack of customer service, instead, his response was quite snippy. Very pathetic and bad service here. I would never want to work with the sales people at this particular dealership. I hope the owner of this dealership reads this review and does something about the service cause I'm sure the customers are running to North Bakersfield or going out of town to have their car sales needs met. I know I would have easily bought my vehicle out of town if I wasn't in a time crunch (more buying experience reviews to come from the North Bakersfield Toyota.) It's unfortunate that Bill Wright is only one of two dealerships in the area, so you don't really have much of a choice and I think they know it and act like they don't give a rats ass about providing decent service. The two dealerships, North Bakersfield and Bill Wright are unfortunately owned by the same business entity so they don't technically have competition in town. If they did, they wouldn't get away with being so rude to their customers and providing such poor service. I usually get good service but I have to say that it has been declining. I took my toyota for servicing but the service adviser Dennis was less than friendly. It was like he was doing me a favor servicing my vehicle. Even though I paid for the service, he seemed in a rush. He asked if I wanted the wiper blades replaced and I agreed, but when I picked up the car they weren't replaced and that it would take another half hour to do it. I am so disappointed with the level of service I received, specially because I use to like coming here. They need to clean up their act. read more

I have been looking for an SUV and went into Bill Wright to test drive a couple. We met a super nice salesman named Fares (pronounces Ferris). I want to start off by saying I made it clear I was just looking and in a lease that I was upside down on and I was simply trying to find something I liked for when I was ready to purchase. I test drove a couple and he asked if he could "run the numbers". He asked me to talk to either his sales manager or finance manager who's name I cannot recall (I JUST received an email from Toyota and his name was Kal Qudsi). Of course I had negative equity and they started pushing me towards a Venza as it had incentives. We went back and forth with some numbers then they started pushing me to get a credit card to use for money down. This was mentioned at LEAST 3 times. When I went back to the Venza my salesman came back and said "I just found out RIGHT NOW that the Venza XLE has been discontinued" and the other man mentioned the Highlander again and I gave him a firm no. They said they would keep working the numbers and I left. They were pushing me into either a Venza LIMITED or a Highlander (both more expensive models than what I wanted). Well I went home and promptly emailed Toyota and asked if they were discontinuing the Venza XLE. Here is their response: Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. We appreciate your interest in the Toyota Venza XLE. At this time, Toyota has not announced plans to discontinue the Venza or to limit production to the LE and Limited trims. If you would like to view all Venza configurations commonly delivered to dealerships in your area, please click here to visit the "Build A Toyota" section of our web page. When you enter your ZIP code, you will see model information for the Venza as it is delivered in your region". In other words, they lied. The salesman bold faced lied and the sales/finance manager stood right there and allowed it in an attempt to get me to purchase a much more expensive vehicle. I know car salesmen do not have the best reputation, but I really expected more from Toyota as I had heard good things about them. Hopefully others read this and BEWARE. I took my 4runner in to have the transmission fluid and oil changed and tires rotated. My brakes had been acting funny so I asked them to take a look at them as well. At the end of the service just before I left they casually mentioned that my rear passenger brake was missing a spring. I asked if they replaced it and he said no, that I would have to bring it in another time and it would cost a minimum of $100 to fix. Now that I have finally gotten the chance to have someone replace the spring, the mechanic(non-toyota) takes a look and is baffled at how my brakes did not fail on me. He said it was so far out of adjustment, with pieces of metal floating around in my drums, that he has no idea how I lasted this long without completely losing my brakes. This troubles me. I would expect any competent mechanic to replace something so simple as a spring, or at least ask me while the brakes are taken apart to see if I want them to fix it. They had the part in stock (i bought the spring that day from the parts dept hoping I'd have time to replace it myself) I also asked the service manager if it was safe and he said yeah it should be. Do you want to get your car fixed somewhere that they have no regard for the customer's safety whatsoever? I know I won't be trusting them with my life any longer. read more

Javier Lopez answered the phone when I called Bill Wright Toyota to ask about a CPO Land Cruiser they had on the floor. I drove out from the coast to buy it and Javier made the whole experience swift and effortless. Despite these vehicles being somewhat uncommon, Javier was knowledgeable about the features, and took time out to pair my phone and explain all the bells and whistles. Shout out to Paul Torres too who had to do a little extra legwork to iron all the creases out of the financing! Couldn't be happier. If I buy another Toyota I'll probably drive out to Bakersfield to do it - on the way to buying this one, I had a few negative experiences with dealerships that should not be named! I also got the feeling that the Bill Wrights' mechanics garage is a regional-class outfit. You could just tell by the way the mechanics were smiling as they went about their business. read more
