Don't let your predisposition against gluten-free stop you from going, it's awesome, being g-f is just a bonus for me. Honestly, based on the crowds the multiple times we've gone, I don't believe the majority of the crowd even KNOWS (or cares) that it's all g-f. Chicken and waffles are my go-to for breakfast. Sadly, this experience wasn't as good as the others. I ordered food, pastries and coffee and spent $83. My pastries came out fast and the food followed, however, my drinks never came. So I went to the bar and no one said a word to me although I'm standing right there. I asked for help and I was stared at as if I were speaking a different language. I advised the young lady I was waiting on a brewed coffee and an iced matcha latte she said ok and asked for my receipt, then said someone will bring it to me. I told her I was waiting but whoever brought my food took my number. So she said she'll take care of it. I waited 10 minutes and another young lady (pixie cut) came to me and asked what I needed, I told her I was waiting on 2 drinks and showed her my receipt. She apologized, but had no idea what was going on. So I waited again, she brings out my drinks in a holder cuz my hands were full. I get to the car and the brewed coffee is literally cold and not sweet (I asked for 3 Splendas and 2 creams, it was also on my receipt). So I bring it back in and I'm ignored again by 2 workers just standing there making small talk. After getting her attention, I advised her the coffee was cold. She pours me another cup then sets it down aggressively. I asked for cream and sugar and at this point, her face said, I pretty much sh*tted on her day. She pours half & half into a creamer glass and slides it to me. I then ask for Splenda, she said, it's over there. However, it's Stevia, so I asked for regular sugar and she said we don't carry that. Had I known they don't carry Splenda and/or regular sugar I would not have ordered a regular brewed coffee.I remove the lid and of course the coffee will s just lukewarm. I just add cream and grab some raw brown sugar and leave. I was too aggravated to go full Karen cuz at that point my attitude was worse than the young lady making drinks that day. The steak sandwich was a huge pass for me. The bread was like a wet brick with about 6 slices of steak on it. The bread to meat ratio was totally off and not worth it. On a positive note... The iced Matcha latte, pastries and the sweet potato fries were amazing. Next time I'm in KC, I'll have to find a new GF place to patronize. read more

You are greeted by tons of delicious pastries, but by the time you get to the end of the counter to order, it's difficult to remember which ones you may potentially want. After yoga we opted for a light, clean healthy-ish breakfast. It was very busy. We had to circle both parking lots before happening upon someone leaving. Be prepared for that on the weekend. Through the door is very busy and loud. Grab a menu to place your order, if you're staying look for seating before hand otherwise you could be waiting for seating too after you get your food. You're given a number to place at your table and await food delivery. Lots of folks hanging around and socializing instead of eating. I ordered the CRAB SCRAMBLE, which i confirmed contains real crab meat. Just as described: wild caught blue crab, soft folded Buttonwood Farm egg, Farm to Market croissant, pickled jalapeño cream cheese, spicy mayo, roasted potatoes+green onion. It was as delicious as it's described. The croissant was warm and soft. To me it was an omelette but not a whole lot of egg either but plenty of the crab meat, with the cream cheese was so flavorful, not spicy at all. The roasted potatoes were crispy, I seasoned it with salt. Overall the food was spectacular. The ambiance is open with natural light. We had a lot of arm workout because of swatting away gnats. The customer service was great from the time I walked into the time that I left an each item ordered, came out as perfection. Here is what I ordered and how I rate it listed below: *Harissa Chicken Club 5/5: The chicken was incredibly juicy and perfectly sauced, layered with fresh lettuce, tomato, and avocado. I opted out of the bacon since I do not eat pork, but what impressed me most was the firm, crispy sourdough bread the sandwich was served on. One of my pet peeves is a sandwich that cannot hold all its ingredients or ends up leaving the bread soggy which causes the sandwich to fall apart. That was definitely not the case here and so greatly appreciated! This sourdough bread was crisp to absolute perfection and the flavor of the harissa sauce was divine. It reminded me a lot of Cava's harissa sauce. I would absolutely recommend this sandwich again and again, especially when paired with the sweet potato fries paired with their garlic aïoli sauce was just as amazing. The fries were perfectly crispy, and I truly appreciated that they weren't soggy on the inside. Definitely my top 3 sweet potato fire place! Cinnamon Roll 5/5: The cinnamon roll was just as divine as my main course. The texture reminded me of a mix between a croissant and cake, and from what I was told the bread is made in-house. It was absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced! Not overly sweet and wonderfully satisfying as an end-of-meal treat. I asked for it to be warmed up, and they were gracious enough to do so. I tried the BG Skillet and the Shakshuka. Both dishes were quite mediocre and lacked flavor in my opinion. The chicken sausage in the skillet was super dry but the potatoes were very good. The Shakshuka was a bit watery and lacked seasoning. I have tried the carnitas burrito in the past and that was definitely better than what I tried this time around. As someone with celiac, I was incredibly impressed by how extensive of a menu Billie's offered with dietary accommodations and how knowledgeable the staff were at answering questions about possible cross-contamination risks. I came here around 1 pm on a weekday, assuming that the lunch rush would be over, but it was still pretty packed, which was probably a sign of how popular and great this place was! The restaurant has a decent amount of seating, with some tables scattered in between that were selling some packaged snacks, books, and local goods. It was beautifully lit with plenty of plants and overall gave off such aesthetic and elegant vibes! I actually ended up ordering several times from Billie's during my brief trip in Kansas City and enjoyed every! single! thing! that I tried :) -daily frittata with side salad: 5/5 I had never eaten such a beautifully presented frittata before! while the actual egg was baked slightly more than I'd preferred, it was incredibly flavorful and the side salad that it came with was amazing! it was so fresh and colorful and had the best crunch ever to pair with the sweet sesame dressing that it came with - would definitely get this again, even though the rest of their menu looked amazing!! I got a side of sweet potato fries as well - be warned, the portion size is HUGE and the fries are dangerously tasty! -crab scramble: 4.5/5 I was so impressed that I was able to order this item with gluten-free accommodations! Their scrambled eggs were *so* soft and fluffy and I loved how they paired with the crab, which they definitely didn't skimp on in terms of portion size! their roasted potatoes were chef's kiss and they were able to swap out the regular croissant with GF baguette slices! They have such an extensive gluten free bakery selection as well - everything looked so, so good! -tiramisu mini tart: 4/5: the dough was drier than I expected but the tiramisu filling and whipped cream on top was absolutely delicious! this is such a fun, creative way to reimagine the classic dessert! -sugar cookie with raspberry orange frosting: 5/5, absolutely no notes besides the fact that I'm still craving this cookie! this had such a wonderful chewy texture that made it hard to believe that it was completely gluten-free! i absolute love the flavor combination of raspberry and orange together and while this cookie is very sweet, it was such a treat to indulge in! -peanut butter-macademia nut-white chocolate cookie: 4/5, whow they really tried to pack everything they could into this cookie! in theory all of these flavors should work super well together but the main flavor I tasted was peanut butter - which was understandable tbh. this cookie had a similarly impressive chewy texture, though it was a bit doughier compared to the sugar cookie. i had these cookies sitting around in the fridge for a few days, but after heating them up for 15 sec or so, they tasted amazing, as if they were fresh-baked again :) I can't praise Billie's enough - the overwhelming majority of positive comments I see on yelp truly don't do this brand justice! keep on being amazing Billie's! read more
