This place is just so cute! Right off College and Kessler it's convenient to downtown and broad ripple folks. I went here for an event in the back private room which was set up wonderfully and even had its on bar and bartender. The food served at the event was heavy hors d'oeuvres - chicken skewers, meatballs, fried mushrooms, crab cakes, cheese/crackers, and fresh veggies. I went here with a large group of people last night and had a fantastic time! The service was good and I got there early enough to get a spot in the lot! Can I get a whoop whoop?! A friend and I split the pretzel appetizer and each got a house salad. It was the perfect amount of food! The pretzels were a little crispier than I expected, but they still tasted good! I love Binkley's. It's my go to spot when I want a quick dinner date or a meal out without dealing with Broad Ripple Village. The food is great. I'm always happy with what I order, and my friends enjoy their food as well. My parents raved about the tenderloin sandwiches last time I took them here. I usually sit in the bar, because I don't want to wait for a table to open up. The bar and restaurant are like two completely different establishments. The service is pretty terrible in both, hence the 4 stars. I seem to always have to ask for refills, and I know if I go I'll be waiting a long time for service. Parking is trouble as well. The lot simply isn't big enough, and I've had to park down the street a few times. All in all: it is worth the bad service and insufficient parking to me. I probably would not return. The staff that we felt with was not friendly. They weren't mean just not friendly, no smiles or hellos. We did not know that you sat yourself and the hostess standing by the other entranced saw us as she was walking around but did not greet us or heLp us until I asked. The waitress was just dOing her job. Our food took a long time because the kitchen was understaffed but it was a long time before our waitress came and told us. I went to Binkley's for the Hoosier Pork Tenderloin--but the restaurant is actually pretty solid all around. They have a nice interior (a fireplace is always a plus) and the wait staff is very helpful. There is a pretty full menu of mostly american traditional fare and decent beer selection. The tenderloin was spot on--not huge like the aristocrat but pretty juicy and the crust wasn't overly oily. The bun was also pretty good. The only thing that wasn't great was the key lime pie for dessert. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, but it didn't taste as if it were made there... read more

Nice outdoor patio, quiet bar area- great for meetings. Nice beer selection, and mondays are $2 off pints. Food review- some of my favorites include the bbq chicken salad, tenderloin, crab cakes. And the bbq pork nachos are by far a favorite appetizer. Service is sometimes lacking. However, i frequent this place- both sit down and also carryout. Another enjoyable family dinner at Binkley's yesterday evening! Delicious food, as always: My wife likes the Salmon Salad; our granddaughter had a grilled cheese sandwich; and our daughter-in-law, our grandson, our son, and I relished several of the pizza offerings (our son and I shared for a second time a yummy Wild Mushroom - Pesto pizza, which we each supplemented with a fresh green salad). Three of the adults savored Paloma cocktails; I appreciate that Binkley's drink options include a good nonalcoholic beer. A highlight of our experience was our delightful server, Hannah, and the excellent service that she provided to our group, while attending to many others during a busy evening in the restaurant. I live and nearby and never used to be that excited about Brinkley's. But over the last year they have really made great improvements to their menu. The barbecue chicken salad is my new favorite salad in the area. The steak entree was really good too. And the kids pizza is surprisingly really good. Overall, a good local restaurant. read more

We began go to Binkley's years ago when it first opened and our kids were young. I have had lovely lunches there more recently, so eagerly suggested it for a family reunion meal in late 2018. Sad to report that the service was below expectations - more diner style than its presentation as a full service restaurant with cloth napkins and dim lights. We did add a member to our party but after a new chair was provided, we had to ask for menu, silverware, and water. Then after appetizers, when the server cleared our forks with the small plates, no new forks were offered. And when we asked for more when the entrees appeared, we got a snappy answer instead of, "oh, sure, I will be right back." One beverage glass overflowed with the drink. I remarked to the runner that I wouldn't pass the drink because I didn't want it spilled on my jacket. She said, "I don't blame you" but then didn't wipe the spots she spilled on the table at my place. Small things but the accumulation led to a less pleasant evening than we expected for a bill in the range of $30 per person. Our meals were just ok, by the way. Not fine enough to balance the lackadaisical service. read more

Visited Binkleys this evening. Unable to provide a review for food since our waiter forgot to turn in the order. Really can't review the service since that was nearly nonexistent as well. After 50 minutes I ask for someone to see about our order. Our waiter was MIA. Several minutes later our waiter comes to the table and reports he forgot to submit our order. If the restaurant was busy I may have understood. The place was not 1/2 full. No one outside, many empty tables inside. I tried to get the attention of the person who appeared to be a manager prior to asking about our order which didn't work either. read more

Conveniently located just outside of broad ripple, this causal restaurant had a wide variety of fairly well made food and a pretty low key ambiance that was able to accommodate a large group of people post graduation. They also have a fairly large parking space out back for customers which was really nice. Their food is decent, but nothing super spectacular. I enjoyed their barbecue chicken pizza, and my friend had their chipotle fish tacos and said the chipotle had quite the kick to it (almost to the point it was too spicy to finish for her taste buds). We stopped here as someone mentioned the outdoor seating and heaters. Owner/manager was great and kicked them on for us as we were the first ones to sit outside for the shift. Truffle fries and wings were great. Had the hawaiin burger and sweet potato fries - excellent. If you are looking for a place to get some good food with outside heating - I would recommend! Went here with my girlfriend tonight had one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. We ordered the Louisiana spinach artichoke dip and it tasted like packed dip and had zero Cajun seasoning it. We then ordered our entrees and we waited about an hour for our food. Multiple people that ordered after us got their food so they obviously forgot to either put our order in or make it. Food finally came and our mac and cheese was literally a bowl of plain cooked pasta with no cheese so we had to send that back. My burger was well done and I asked for medium, the bacon was supposed to be cooked in a Habanero brown sugar and it was plain. My onion rings were also cold. The bartender was aware of our wait and we weren't comped the app or anything. We live just down the street and will never come back. There are so many good places in Broad Ripple so don't waste your time here. read more

Pretty big fan of this spot. Me and my boy have been here at least three times and we don't eat out that often. Sit in the bar area...atmosphere there is a lot more laid back. But also have nice tables and booths in the dining room if you're looking for a more intimate or family setting. They rotate the beer with local options. Boring menu and terrible service. We had a large party, server was semi prompt with bringing us water. 20 minutes passed and she never checked once. Walked by and again and again. 2 or the party left. Another 10 minutes. Nothing, they were not at all busy and she checked on her other party constantly. When I mentioned why we were leaving to another of our party, more patient than I, he asked of it was because of the service. C'mon. No uninspired burger/fish taco that could be in any menu in Indy or elsewhere is worth that time. We left too. Truly terrible. read more

I came here again last night with a friend hoping to up the star level...not to be. I ordered the fish and chips and the portion size was shockingly small...for the price. Just two small pieces of fish, a tiny handful of fries and the sides that were offered were almost all different types of potatoes...WTF?! I ended up ordering the onion rings as my side item. I had expected the usual serving size so that I could take half back for lunch today. However, the onion rings WERE very good...probably the best part. The wine we had was decent, my friend had the House Chardonnay and I had a Malbec. Since it was such a nice evening, we sat out on the patio. The plus side is that it wasn't stuffy...the minus side is that our waitress tended to ignore us...and the place wasn't really all that crowded inside until a pub crawl bus showed up, but they only stuck around for about 30 minutes, so that really wasn't an excuse. My hiking club likes to come here after our Monday evening hikes, but I think they should find a new haunt. read more

I wanted it to be better. I had a group of around 20 come in for a work Christmas dinner. We had a reservation so they knew we were coming. We dined in their private dining room in the back. The set up looked good, and we had a personal bar and bartender which was pretty cool. As she seemed to be the only one tending to the party service was a bit slow, but she did a good job. The manager should have assigned her help for drink running. Service from her really wasn't the big issue, it was the food. All of the steaks were overdone, some of the salmon was underdone(I like it rare but most people don't) and all of the food on my end of the table came slightly warm or room temp. I ordered a build your own pasta, which was drowning in an extremely bland and questionably thin pesto cream sauce. The sauce was all over the rim of the plate and underneath as well. I didn't speak to all 20 people about their meals, but nobody I did speak to enjoyed it. I do think the restaurant is probably better than that particular service, but unfortunately that service is all I have to go on. Truly awful job by the kitchen and kitchen management. read more

We love Binkleys as regular hang out. The weight staff is amazing. Unfortunately, as we were looking FCC or a seat in the bar there is a large birthday party going on using four tables there's no one sitting at fwo of them. This situation put the waiters in a difficult position. Where is the evening manager to deal with this? He is not around. Upon leaving, I asked to speak to the evening manager. The young man came up from the basement and this was the first time we saw him. Explain to him the situation so he would know for future reference. He was very defensive and explain that he was a damn good manager. He continued cursing so I walked away. This manager needs to Shadow your better managers and learn how to support his weight staff as well as his clients. I did tell him that he was nowhere to be found through the 2 hour. We were there. Not impressed. I think the highlight of the meal was that they had house wine for maybe around $5.50. I ordered the beer cheese and pretzel and the pesto tortellini. The beer cheese tasted exactly like a Velveeta cheese and beer dip that I've made at home before. That's basically all there is to that recipe, Velveeta cheese melted with a little beer added. Don't get me wrong - it tasted good, but it wasn't worth going out for. The pesto tortellini came served with chicken even though I didn't order it with chicken. It took me a while to even flag down our waiter to let him know there was an issue. He brought a new plate without chicken and apologized, blaming the kitchen, but didn't comp anything or seem to realize that it's a big deal to serve meat accidentally to a vegetarian. Then, when I finally got to eat, the pesto tortellini mostly just tasted like cream. There was very little basil in the pesto. Evidently, this is a "Binkley's Favorite". If this is the best they've got, it's not very good. My friend and I stayed a while and talked and drank. i felt like the waiter was trying to rush us out even though there was no one waiting. When I said thanks to him as we left, he didn't even respond or look up. Maybe he didn't hear me, but he just started clearing our glasses away. Another thing I noticed was that the waiter explained the beer specials to a table of two men, but failed to do the same for my girl friend and me. I guess he assumed that women don't drink beer. Newsflash: many women drink beer. There are plenty of better options in Broad Ripple, don't waste your time here. Or just sit at the bar and ask what the beer specials are... read more

You know what? Binkley's is an awesome spot. As anyone who reads my reviews can tell you, I can be harshly critical; but, I can't find much wrong with Binkley's. Usually, in reviews, I leave the worst for last, but this time, I'm just going to criticize first. Binkley's has a large parking lot for the area of town in which it sits; however, the lot clearly isn't big enough. I practically parked in someone's yard during my last dining experience. However, a crowded parking lot says a lot about a restaurant. When is the last time you had trouble parking at Applebee's? Now that the "bad" is out of the way, it's time for the good stuff. Binkley's is full of the good stuff. It is a warm, homey establishment, especially in the winter. It has the feel of a down-home neighborhood eatery, but with a bit more class and panache. The staff is always extra-special friendly, and they cater to the customer's every want and need. More than being friendly and delivering great service, they treat the diner, well, as a homey establishment should: almost like family. If I ate there on a more regular basis, I'm confident that they would remember my first and last name--at the very least. The Americana-style menu at Binkley's is large and impressive--as are the portion sizes. Whether you are looking for a burger, cold sandwich, pasta, soup, or salad, they serve it. I am particularly fond of their burgers, especially since bison meat can be substituted for beef at a nominal charge. I've likewise been very satisfied with pasta dishes and salads that I have ordered in the past. Binkley's also has a full bar, and has a wide selection of beer, wines, and spirits. The bar always carries locally brewed beer, and the service staff is quick to boast about the wide array. With their large menu of appetizers, Binkley's is a great place to watch a game, or to have a pint with your mates. The prices at Binkley's are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of food that is served. While they do offer some more expensive entrees (like steaks and salmon), they do not vastly exceed the $20.00 range. However, it is entirely possible to have a meal that is equal in price to one that you would have at an inferior restaurant--like Applebee's or T.G.I. Friday's. You'll never remember a meal at a lousy chain restaurant, but you're not likely to forget the one you had a Binkley's. read more

I had high hopes for Binkley's considering the outside appearance and the expansive menu -- and my dad's recollection of dining here when it was known as the Pawn Shoppe Pub. The inside is pretty swift-looking -- lots of dark wood, low light, a quiet ambiance (plus a nice-looking larger room off the main restaurant which the menu advertised could be reserved for large outings) -- and you can tell a lot of hard work has been put in to update the place as a whole. Unfortunately, looks weren't everything here. The lunchtime dining experience was simply average. Our waiter seemed 'out of it' and had two orders (out of four) wrong -- despite having to ask twice for each person to re-state their order. My dad ordered the barbeque chopped chicken salad and received the Cobb salad and my fiance received green peppers instead of green onions on her pizza. I get the mix-up from green onions to green peppers, but how do you mess up 'barbeque chop chicken' to 'Cobb'? I tried the Turkey & Artichoke panini and my aunt sampled the Deluxe Grilled Cheese panini. The turkey & artichoke was tasty but it was overstuffed with 'chokes -- it literally fell apart. I was intrigued by the herb cream cheese spread but couldn't taste it due to the overpowering artichoke (the juices also made the pressed sandwich a bit soggy). My aunt enjoyed the grilled cheese, which was perfectly prepared and looked...cheesy, but really, how hard is it to mess up grilled cheese? Despite receiving the wrong order, my dad thought the Cobb salad was tasty. Looking back, we should have made a fuss -- I'm sure the bbq salad would have been better. I sampled the pizza and it was solid -- good tasting cheese + ham on a thin crust; the green peppers had some snap to them. The side dishes weren't much to write home about; I'm pretty sure my 'fresh fruit' dish wasn't as fresh as advertised. Despite the waiter being 'out of it,' he was quick with drink refills and generally friendly. As I review the dinner menu online (not available since we had lunch) while writing this review and while there are a few items not available at lunch, it would not be enough to make me return to Binkley's, though they DO seem to have a fascination with this herb cream cheese. While Binkley's is a HUGE step above any chain restaurant you'll find in the Indianapolis area, the fact remains that even with frequent visits to my hometown, there are so many other places I'd rather visit for lunch. read more

Binkley's is a local casual American-type restaurant-bar that offers a range of classic dishes from creative salads, unique pasta dishes, and the home-grown pork tenderloin sandwich - plus so much more. The price is comparable with other American chains, but seems to have a bit more variety and quality from the menu. The service is somewhat lacking; not the speediest, but not the worst I've ever experienced - not by a long shot. The dinning area can also get a bit noisy, sometimes it's more like bar atmosphere than a restaurant. (which is not always a bad thing!) When I feel like some local American fare, I'm glad Binkley's is just down the road! read more

Just spent a nice evening at Binkley's - a lot of good mixed in with some "meah" so I'll give up 4-stars, but not a convincing 4-star.... The atmosphere is convivial and the menu is several steps above the average bar menu. Among my group of 4 we tried the grilled salmon, the teriyaki tilapia, the grouper special and the BBQ chicken chopped salad. The salmon was a bit overlooked and had too much BBQ sauce (the menu said chipotle glaze). The salad was pleasant, the guacamole was a nice touch, but nothing special. The grouper and the tilapia were winners. Our waitress was a little slow at the outset but finished up well enough. On the whole, good value and good (just not stunning) food. After dinner we moved to a table in the bar to catch the second half of the Butler - Xavier game - which was a lot of fun, despite the (I'll just say it) somewhat surely waitress (don't think she was too excited when we told her that we were just doing coffee and dessert). In any event, the berry crumble was simple but delicious. Ask for it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I rate this a " go" - and I'll go back - but I'll take the slow train with a lot of stops at other restaurants along the way, but I will definitely go back! read more

well, I really wanted to like Binkleys. I met up with some friends for dinner here. They had been here for a couple hours and had some drinks. I showed up and waited 15 minutes before a waitress ever came over. Ordered 3 different beers, they didn't have, my brother in law ordered one for me that he knew they had. Another 5 minutes later before it showed up. We ordered the pretzel pieces with cheese, the cheese was really runny, not good. Then a hald hour or so later, when our waitress came back around, we ordered pork nachos, these were good, but they were very greasy, literally dripping with grease. I was so hungry at this point, I just ate some and shut up, lol. Maybe I will give them another chance ? read more

The first thing I noticed when I walked in, on a chilly night, was fire place. I think the hostess over heard me mention the fire place and sat us right in front. As my boyfriend and I sat and looked over the menu, we felt very cozy and "at home" at Binkleys. The server was great, since we had never been before he was very patient with us and we never felt rushed. I asked for a lighter beer option on draft and he pointed me in the right direction with the Goose Island Pilsner. Instead of truffle fries as an appetizer, we decided to upgrade our side of fries to truffle fries and were not disappointed. My boyfriend had the Black and Blue Burger, which he said was the best burger he has ever had. I had the Mushroom and Swiss Burger, which I felt was a little dry.
