You'd better be prepared to have 2 hours or more to spare! You have an appt time and you STILL have to wait approximately 1 hour just to get checked in for your vitals. There are 5 check-in stations, yet only 2 staff members attending these stations. Management should better schedule the staff breaks, especially when there are lots of people waiting. Perhaps hiring more staff would help minimize wait times. read more

Well I have to say changing locations was the best decision I made. I almost went to the competitor (as the Rialto Manager suggested) but I have to say the minute I walked in the vibe to the Pomona location was great. Staff were happy and the place had a welcoming atmosphere. Management make all the difference. This location even though it is busy, is great. I've been donating at this location for about a year now and tend to have a higher pulse than normal resulting in not being able to donate sometimes. However Alexa (yes like Amazon) up in the screening area ALWAYS delivers exceptional service, has a keen attention to the details of her clients and strives to make the experience as soothing for the donor as possible! I don't know if it's the calming nature she has to the way she does her job but I tend to always pass my BPM when I screen with her. I wanted to try BioLife but the closest center is located in Pomona which is a 45 minute drive taking the streets from where I live because the freeway is always jammed going towards that area. I really HATE the technicians here they are so disrespectful and rude when they're giving me orders instead of asking me politely but I guess the crackheads they treat better than me here don't even mind. I went back to Octapharma in West Covina and the technician who was examining me said that people who go to BioLife run right back to Octapharma because they cannot stand the technicians attitude. read more

If I could give this place and the nurses that work here 0 stars I would. I had the absolute worse experience here and will I will not be donating plasma or blood anymore. I waited nearly FOUR hours to donate because a "nurse misplaced my new donor placard" which had my social security number on it. That is what I was told by the supervisor on duty (Saturday January 27, 2004). The nurse who took my new donor placard is named Kayla. Once I was finally hooked up to the plasma machine I immediately began having reactions. Because it had been over 3 hours that I had been waiting, I'd had nothing to eat. I experienced weakness in my hand, heart palpitations, scratchy voice, itchiness and tingling in my mouth. When I told the technician what I was experiencing she told me this was normal, but I did not feel safe or comfortable in the care of these nurses. I have donated blood before, but this was my first time donating plasma, and the lack of attentiveness and blatant carelessness has completely turned me off from ever wanting to donate my blood or plasma anywhere, ever again. In my opinion what I experienced is absolutely NOT worth the compensation. I wish I could scrub this experience from my memory. Not to mention the bathrooms were filthy with paper towels strewn all over the floor and no paper towels to dry your hands. There was also blood on the floor in one of the restrooms, and considering this is a health clinic where blood and plasma is being drawn, I don't even have to tell you how unsanitary that is. I did let Kayla, one of the nurses know, but in the 3 hours I waited to be seen, I didn't see one employee go into the restroom to clean it up. read more

Horrible place, the nurses told me to go find a seat and then made me talk to one of their nurses that are in the examination rooms to tell me I couldn't donate because of my scars which were completely closed and I've never had trouble donating there. Misleading. Fact check before going with a phone call if possible to make sure everything is correct. Not all locations have the same facilities, this includes amount of payment and all facilities don't allow children, which is my biggest issue because it says they are child friendly but not all locations are. I've done donations before and this has never been an issue so yes it did surprise me, especially when it says you can bring children but doesn't directly indicate that this isn't true at all locations. Very problematic because I drove 20 miles in south LA traffic for an hour with a baby to have to turn around in traffic for another hour drive to go z20 miles in the other direction where they could have been more forthright, and they definitely were not. I'd have asked the specific location in advance had this been made more clear with their advertising child friendly facilities. This is misleading and inappropriate and I wasn't offered compensation for going out of my way when they basically lied. read more

Giving plasma is seriously no JOKE! I drank a half a gallon before coming in but I was still under prepared with electrolytes. I didn't prepare the day before either I just woke up one day and wanted to donate... so it's my fault I had a reaction! My body got dehydrated and I felt faint but the amazing people on the floor saw right away and rushed right over and soon I had 2-3 people all showing me their attention and trying to get my vitals leveled. I was having hot flashes and felt like I was going to pass out. But I was given snacks and electrolytes, they checked in on me and were so passionate about their jobs! I love them. I will be back and better prepared at that lol.. read more

Let me start off by saying the staff is lovely, but it just so happens that the nurse who inserted the needle in me did not do it properly. It was my 1st time here, but I have donated many times with the American Red Cross. I figured let me get paid for donating here. What a mistake! I have no fear of needles or blood, so I always watch how the nurse inserts the needle. By the way, I have 2 veins that pop on both arms, which should be a dream for a newbie. I watched as the nurse inserted the needle. No problem. Then, for whatever reason, she decides to move it left to right while it's inside my vein. I'm not a professional, but I don't think that is in any manual. She then decided to put the needle in deeper, which caused pain and discomfort. Thank goodness I have a high pain tolerance. She didn't give me a ball, which is given to every donor to squeeze every few seconds. A few minutes in, the machine starts beeping, and a different nurse asks me if I'm in pain and tells me I have a hematoma and she's going to have to remove the needle. Shocker! She gently removed the needle, wrapped a small ice pack, and gave me follow-up instructions. I wish she had inserted the needle initially. It is now a few hours later, my arm is bruised, as you can see from the picture I've added, and it obviously hurts. Something similar happened at the American Red Cross, where I told the nurses that my arm felt unusually uncomfortable. Their response was that that's normal and that the process would end soon. That was the last time I ever went there, and I doubt I will come back here for the 1 nurses mistake. Do these facilities have their nurses practice proper insertion of needle, or are donors the test dummies? I wish I had a better experience to share. I'm O+ with no piercings or tattoos, swim daily, and have veins in both arms that should be a dream for donation centers. Instead, I've been harmed twice and likely never to donate again. Good luck to those who are newbies and those returning donors. I salute you! read more

This place HOWEVER, the girls look like they are still training, one girl gave me attitude & called her boss over and kicked me out. She asked me "do I have a problem?" Like how ghetto is that? It's a complete waste of time. The people who work there are very rude and snippy. They tell you your blood pressure is too high at 105 but the normal range for blood pressure is between 90-120. I honestly think they tell you shit like that because they don't want to do their job and they don't want people coming. They are simply lazy and rude. If I could leave zero stars I would. This used to be my go-to donation center. New management is ridiculous. The lines are unbearable! They say 6am is the best, 6:30am there's already a line wrapping to the back for vital checks. It takes 2 hours from start to finish when an initial appointment takes 3 hrs. I don't know if they're on budget cuts so short staffed but this is unacceptable. The left beds are almost never used, I came mornings and evenings and seen them unoccupied both times. I've been to another location where masks aren't required btw and no lines. I'll go somewhere else. read more

About 2 weeks ago, I was sitting the in the bed waiting to donate. As I was waiting, a worker (with a headband, curly hair, & glasses; he always wears this) decided it would be okay to throw away his gloves from about 5-10 feet away. He hit me on my right arm & as he did that he saw that it hit me & non-chalantly just said "my bad" & kept walking. Not only was that careless & negligent, but he did not offer to give me anything to clean my arm. Additionally, when he walked back towards where I was seated, I made sure to get his attention & asked him if he can get me anything to clean myself. He didn't & just said you can use hand sanitizer which was in a cart near by me l, so I got up & got it. When I asked him that, he scoffed & said "just for that? What hit you was the inside of my gloves so no blood got on you." I was pissed. Even if there was "no blood" that touched me, what makes him think I was him "touching me?" Not only is he reckless & negligent, but he is also very rude & a complete asshole for that. I have a newborn at home & need to take complete caution in order to make sure that my baby is safe. Honestly, I don't know how he wasn't fired for that. That is probably the worst thing someone could do (show negligence/rudeness/unprofessionalism) Coming to Biolife in Pomona makes me feel unsafe because I know there is a worker there who just does not care. In any way. The next time came in & saw him (he knew that I complained about him already to Aaron), he was mad-dogging me & trying to make me feel threatened. He looked pissed off at me, probably because I complained about him. You always hear these crazy stories about people getting revenge & what not & I honestly don't feel safe coming here to this location anymore. I'm disappointed that they said I could only redeem the $50 coupon they gave me at this location. I'm told them I no longer feel safe going there, but that doesn't seem to matter. The most recent one was on Wednesday, I sitting in a bed for an HOUR, waiting & waiting until one of the workers asked me if I was donating today... like what? Of course I am. They thought I was just there to give a sample. I would give 0 stars if I could. They don't deserve any. I am very disappointed in everything about BioLife. I just donated about 15 minutes ago, but I now longer feel safe here & my time doesn't seem to matter to you guys, I will now be going to CSL Plasma. I have been going to this location since March 2024 and they are great. I understand that sometimes they take a little long but they do what they can and get to you as soon as possible. The only issue I have with them is that I went in on Sunday and there was an issue with the sewer system and water was coming out of the floor, because I didn't start the donation process yet they told me to go to the front to reschedule. At the moment they couldn't overwrite the appointment but they told me to come in this week and they'll do it then. I went in this morning and now I have to wait until Friday because the system says I donated when I didn't . So if the person "that looks in charge" tell you that they will overwrite your appointment don't believe them because a supervisor will tell "there is nothing we can do about it but I can apply a coupon for your next visit." I did tell her "you guys need to get your s**t together" because it wasn't just me, there were more people whose time they are going to waist. I used to donate at OctaPharma years ago and it always took maybe an hour, hour and a half at most. Unfortunately it's ALWAYS 2 hours with BioLife, especially at this location. The workers are more focused on gossip and socializing than unhooking donors from machines. My boyfriend had one worker poke him FOUR TIMES instead of asking for help. Then once he was hooked up she adjusted the needle another two times. He was bruised and sore as heck. Their equipment is junky. I always have to scan my finger 2, 3 or 4 times because the scanner is "dying". While getting vitals checked they do not narrate the care they are giving or inform you of your results as they check. Instead they make you sit there and wait till the end to tell you your hematocrit and iron levels. In Corona they let you know ASAP and are attentive. Oh you think you may need some water or a protein drink before your vitals? Too bad, they're too cheap here to offer a bottle of water or a protein drink to help people be able to donate. They'll also give you a wicked attitude about it if you ask, like we should know better when other locations care about donors instead of treating them like cattle. I've hated this location since the first time I came here. This was my SEVENTH time here, my 6th donation at the location. I should be excited to get money for plasma, but they make the whole drawn out experience miserable, every time. read more

As an experienced PHLEBOTOMIST (20) years. DO NOT GO YO THE LAKEWOOD CA LOCATION! A NEWLY LICENSED PHLEBOTOMIST SHOULD NEVER BE HIRED! This location is a waste of time none of those phlebotomist know what they are doing,! Yhe best locations are in Pomona, Rialto and Corona. Not wise to hire new techs foothis type of business. Only 2 things can happen, lawsuit or reporting of phlebotomist license to the state individually. Lakewood CA location is not a goo location. This place is unorganized and they waste your time. Asked them over the phone if I can donate even if I have diabetes and they said yes. Set up an appointment and walked in and the lady at the front was rude for no reason and they wasted an hour taking my blood for iron and protein and going through with the blood pressure check. Then use the computer to answer many questions. I wasn't told where to go after that so back to the rude lady at the front who told me to sit and wait. 20 minutes pass and someone calls me into the office and told me I can't donate until I have my doctor fill out a form and release my medical information (all of this could have been done a week ago when I asked). read more

The wait is ridiculous no matter what time you come in. It's definitely understaffed. There's a lot of unqualified staff and they are just not friendly AT ALL. I have never had an issue with my veins being found, at the Pomona location, it seems most of the staff need to "mark" the vein which feels like they are cutting you open. It's unpleasant nonetheless. The compensation after almost 3 hour process doesn't seem worth it but at the end of the day we are helping others in need and the least these people can do is make sure the experience is short and sweet and not make people feel like they are here for a handout. read more

For most of my experience, all has been good visits. Only issues encountered, coming in with a full bladder, restrooms often don't have toilet tissue. This is a very busy location, even though the staff is overloaded, they do move the crowd within reasonable time, considering the large number of donors. Facility clean, except restrooms which seem to become very messy with constant use of donors. Overall, if you have it in your heart & your wallet is light, this is a great place to donate. read more
