Bird Rock is one of my personal Top coffee shops in SD! I have watched them grow over the years and expand all over SD, boy am I glad because now it is so much more convenient to get quality coffee and my favorite vegan pastries!!! Their guava passion fruit orange doughnut is one of the best I have ever had and worth the trip alone! The lemon poppy seed muffin is delicious as well! I just tried this location for the first time and they are quick efficient and offer amazing friendly service and vibes. Well staffed for quick service. Their iced horchata latte and vanilla bean hot or cold is my personal top favorite. Friends in the past have loved their house made dirty chai and spiced mocha. I highly recommend Bird Rock Coffee particularly this location! I got a coffee and a breakfast burrito type of thing that seemed like it was premade and thrown in the microwave. It was pretty average. The coffee was fine. There was a wait and the service was decent, and the people were relatively friendly but nothing special. Not a lot of seating and we found somewhere to sit around the corner in front of a neighboring donut shop. Just ok overall. read more

I didn't realize there was a Bird Rock Coffee Roasters in Encinitas but was so excited since it's been on my list of places to visit! I ordered the Vanilla Bean Iced Latte with oat milk. I always get a little worried that flavored lattes will end up being too sweet but not this one. It was perfectly sweet and a strong vanilla bean flavor. There were a couple tables inside and more outside that would be great if you're looking to get some work done or study. I would highly recommended stopping by if you're in the area! read more

My 1st time here. The pistachio cherry latte was surprisingly good! Latte with pistachio cherry syrup and cherry whipped cream topped with cherry powder. It was my first time visiting. The coffee was just okay, not great. It was clear they need to improve how they pull their espresso shots. On a positive note, the to-go cups were cute. However, the overall atmosphere felt uninviting, due to the staff. The energy was low, and I wasn't greeted upon entering. Even after thanking them for the service, none of the employees acknowledged it with a 'you're welcome' or any courtesy. It left a disappointing impression. I won't be returning. read more

Got Lucky. Have had this overpriced very average coffee before. They turned us away at 3:57 on Mothers Day as they close at 4. What a blessing!! Right behind them in the Lumberyard Mall in Encinitas is Broad Street Dough Co, coffee and donuts! Best donuts Ive ever had and the coffee 100% better than Bird Rock! I ordered a cappuccino and before it was made, I said I forgot to say triple shot. He didn't charge me more. I I got a latte. He didn't ask if I wanted hot or cold. He gave me cold and I wanted hot. Love love the coffee at BRC and their avocado toast. But they need to clean their bathrooms, both Encinitas and Del Mar location bathrooms are always dirty and pretty gross. Not ok when you're serving food. read more

Highly recommend their Mocha, it's to die for! This place gets pretty busy on weekends so expect to wait in line. They put love and care into their drinks so the wait is worth it in my opinion. It is expensive but high quality. read more

Each of the three experiences have left us thinking it was just an off day. Today, one last attempt and it was the exact same lackluster experience, left us feeling like there are no chances left. We were really excited to try this spot and were unfortunately very disappointed. The coffee drinks were very expensive (which we don't mind if they are good!) and the lattes we ordered both tasted burnt and the homemade vanilla syrup was nothing special. We love supporting small coffee shops but won't be back again, there is several others in that area that provide a better coffee. read more
