Went to Biricchino on a Thursday night to have dinner with my sis. She's raved of this place and so I know I had to give it a try. We went in with no reservation and was seated rather quickly since it was the begin of dinner (530pm). The restaurant had a dimmed light vibe and open brick walls. The waitress was nice and took our drink order quickly as we took time to figure out what we wanted to eat. We had several dishes and all were so tasty. For apps we had Prosciutto with melon and Prosciutto with tomato, mozz and basil. The Prosciutto was so fresh and the melons were actually sweet. The star of the night was the mushroom pasta. The pasta was made from scratch and you could tell by the texture. It was so tasty. The cream sauce and mushrooms were cooked perfectly. My sis had the stuffed pasta and that was also really good. Unfortunately, I was full and couldn't get desert but I will be going back to try some more things. If you're by MSG and want some yummy Italian food, definitely stop by! read more

Went to New York last weekend for an Event at Peloton studios. No plan for where to eat afterwards, we did a quick check on Yelp and found this place. No reservation, but they were not busy that early about 5PM. By the time we left the place was almost full. The Service, Food and Ambiance were all great. So happy we found this place. If we are ever back that way, we will return. Ordered pretty much the same items as previous visit only different was todays scallops special. Tasty, felt it could have been cooked a tad more. Accompanying sauce great blend. A somewhat earlier dinner, they were getting crowded by the time I left. Upon entering, I couldn't help but noticing the cozy and Christmas-y welcoming atmosphere. The rustic, exposed brick added to the charm. Service (via Jordan and thank you) was attentive. I kept it simple and quick. I started with a smooth Chianti as a warm bread basket made its way to my table. The aroma of the bread coupled with the olive oil was quite good. Shortly after placing my order of Shrimp Arrabiata, the pasta arrived. A hearty portion that included 6 large shrimp in a spicy sauce allowed me to savor its deliciousness. Oh my, it was really good. I wish I had a plate of it now as I write this review. No time for dessert or anything else, I quietly and happily left this charming restaurant to meet my friend. They provided a generous amount of complimentary bread, sesame breadsticks, and olive oil for the table. We loved the arugula pear salad. The blue cheese, walnuts, and slightly sweet dressing paired perfectly together. For my main, I had the pappardelle ai funghi. It had a good amount of mushrooms and nice flavor from the shallots and rich cream sauce. My friends also enjoyed the orecchiette salumeria biellese and said the linguine nere was very flavorful. Their bottles of red wine start around $46. We enjoyed the Chianti. Great place in Chelsea for an Italian meal. Apparently the owners started out making Italian cold cuts so I thought either the sausages or salumeria plate was a good start. We chose the sausages and boy were they good. We ordered the small platter an md it was still a huge amount. All the sausages we obviously freshly made and full of labor with different spices. The platter had Aragua and grilled onions. A must get. We also got of their house salads which was wonderfully fresh and nicely garnished. For an entre we had the pappardelle Al fungi. This dish is jus mason yne blend of the heavy cream, pancetta and mushrooms with the pasta is just perfect. Truly an outstanding dish. Today on. Wednesday we found only 3 other tables occupied so this not the NYC I remember but the dining room is very mice with brick walls and granite tables and floor. Biricchino Italian family run restaurant that open in 1987 has been in business for over 30 years, the owner Salumeria B. started out serving the community by making homemade cured meats plus sausages. The bar is right there on the right as you enter, we were led o our table, the table's and the floor are made of cobblestone marble, the decor of the walls is rustic bricks..."so Italian looking" Our waitress brought an assortment of bread with bread sticks along with some olive oil, we ordered pear salad, Crosini con Fontina, Fettuccine Cacio e pepe, Shrimp Arrabbiata, Custard tart, Tiramisu and last a couple glasses of Mosacto wine, all of our food was very flavorful. Happened to find this spot in search of a restaurant for dinner Friday night. Usually restaurants around ktown are super busy friday night but this place is a bit tucked away and there wasn't a lot of people. They give a small basket of complimentary bread before your food comes. My friend and I ordered a Linguine Nere and Pappardelle ai Funghi. Both are super tasty. I definitely did not expect Linguine Nere to be that spicy but it's really delicious. We also got tiramisu for dessert which was the perfect thing to finish off our dinner with. The staff were really nice, we arrived rather late and finished really close to their closing time but they didn't rush us or anything and even said it was okay to finish our dessert. We are from California and came to NY for a little get away. We were hungry for some authentic Italian food and saw Biricchino on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We walked in and got sat down right away. The place was super cute and very intimate. Loved the lighting and the decor. We had a few questions about the menu and the waitress was very knowledgeable and described the food very well. We ordered the fettuccine cacio e pepe and the pappardelle ai funghi. The pasta were made from scratch and were super good. The sauce was very creamy. We liked how there was bread and some olive oil that we can dip in it. We were super full by the end of dinner but loved all the food. We don't have anything to compare this to back at home so I'm sad that we can't eat here all the time. Fast forward to 6pm EST, my son goes to pick up and a young lady rudely tells him the restaurant busy and online order probably cancelled. All his family is based in California, so this experience sucked!! The food was great: we had the steak special (T-bones)and the were cooked perfectly. For starters we had the scallops and they may have been the best scallops I've ever had. Biricchino was our 3rd choice for an early dinner after work for a couple of us working near Penn Station/Hudson Yards. We found it more by chance (could it be the Yelp algorithm toying with us?) because the first swanky choice had a 90min wait and 2nd choice took us much further from Penn Station. Well I am so glad things worked out as they did. Biricchino was such a pleasant surprise, I mean it only had 4 stars in the average review?! It's located at a corner a couple of blocks from Penn, nothing fancy, sorta like a hidden gem. Decor is fairly classic old school Italian restaurant. There was a private party happening in the left dining room, but the waitress found room for us in the front busy dining room. There seemed to be some expansion, renovation happening at the restaurant. We had a glass of wine each, a mixed green salad, then the most recommended pasta dishes from the Yelp community - pappardelle with mushroom and shrimp arrabbiata. So delicious and seriously satisfying! Five stars because the services was friendly, food was awesome, and price was so reasonable for this hyped up neighborhood. What a great find! Met with a friend over a pasta and wine dinner. Got the pancetta and fig app - big meaty chunks that wrapped nicely around juicy small figs. Sausages were clearly fresh, some spicey some chicken or pork. You've seen tons of reviews about the pappardelle with mushrooms and pancetta, and yes the cream sauce is tasty and light. The Ravioli is hearty as well. Clearly the pasta is fresh; the texture and consistency are the tell tale, and that makes the difference. Staff work hard, presentation of plates is very nice, and cocktails are well crafted, even if a little pricey. Wines are good pours by the glass and a nice selection. Did not have room for dessert, but those slices of tiramisu looked amazing! A few blocks from Penn station, so it's distant enough to not pull in every tourist. But I think it was also a jewish holiday so you never know when restaurants are going to spill over. We both ordered the exact same thing: Papparadelle ai Funghi. Papparadelle is a top tier pasta for me and it didn't disappoint. There were also flecks of pancetta in it. Complimentary bread basket with olive oil. Nothing to write home about there. The bread sticks I could do without. Very crunchy and kind of stale. The bread was just pretty regular run of the mill. We had it with a glass of cab that was really quite lovely but maybe a dollar or two more expensive than desired. I feel like everything here is a-okay but the prices are high level Italian restaurant prices. Also, it was really drafty and a bit nippy in the place and really loud with the amount of people. I guess because it's on the small side and everything just echoes and reverberates.
