L'Amico in the Eventi Hotel used to be a restaurant that I would frequent, but it had been at least ten years since my last visit. (In fact, I had a review drafted from back then still pending on Yelp.) However, I was recently looking for a dinner place in the area and was thrilled to see that it was one of the rare hotel restaurants that had managed to sustain any economic fluctuations. We decided to dine there and see if it was as good as I had remembered. Their Sixth Avenue parklet was abuzz and their interior dining room was similarly crowded. Clearly, the restaurant had maintained its "cool" factor. I walked into the bustling space and over to the welcoming hostess who got us settled at a cozy table near the warm, open kitchen. We were then greeted by our engaging server, Baird, who was an absolute delight throughout our meal. We decided to order a few dishes to share, starting with the Grilled Octopus appetizer. The long, pillowy tendrils had been lightly grilled without a heavy char. The octopus was served over fingerling potatoes that had been mashed with cured olives and served with a red pepper aioli on the side. The mixture of the brininess and spiciness was very interesting and delicious. Next, we sampled the Seafood Agnolotti, one of the restaurant's most hyped dishes. The delicate dumplings encased a flavorful seafood mixture that was flavorful but oddly cool in temperature. The agnolotti did not seem like they were previously frozen or anything, but appeared to have cooled while waiting for the appropriately warm toppings of real seafood and wilted spinach to be added to the bowl. The chunks of Maine lobster, jumbo lump crabmeat, rock shrimp, and bay scallops were fresh and tender. Our main course procession concluded with the Ora King Salmon, which was supposed to be prepared "medium", but came to our table with a bright orange, gooey center. We wound up sending it back to the kitchen for additional cooking, though it returned too overdone and a little dry. It was plated over a large portion of black lentils and shaved spring onions in a heirloom carrot sauce. It was an even balance of earthy and fishy flavors. We were pretty full by that time, but decided that we would look at the dessert menu for fun. Well, it certainly was entertaining, because everything sounded delicious. We wound up splitting the Sicilian Pistachio Torta, which consisted of two layers of pistachio cake with some sort of cool, white cream filling that might have been vanilla ice cream. The rim of the cake was encased with crushed nuts and had a topping of overripe, diced strawberries in sugar syrup. The cake was just lightly sweetened, which we liked, but the scoop of pistachio gelato that came with it was pretty sugary. Overall, we did enjoy it and found that it satisfied our needs to end on a sweet note. Being back in the L'Amico dining room brought back a lot of memories, including those of similarly excellent historical experiences. The restaurant was one to always keep at the back of my mind for when I wanted a taste of the familiar, rather than trying something new. read more

Came here with my sister and coworker on whim after another restaurant had over an hour wait time. We started with cocktails. I had the occhi verde and it was delicious. We shared the arancini, sopressata picante pizza, artichoke pizza and pipe rigate pasta. Arancini had great flavor, love the lemon sauce. The pizzas were ok. The pasta was my favorite dish. The veal shoulder, short rib and pancetta created an amazing flavor. Our server was attentive but left us alone to eat and yap. We out outside but the interior is gorgeous. There's plenty of seating and we were able to get a seat right away without a reservation. This place is a tad pricey but it's midtown. Looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu. read more

I visited this restaurant for a book club meeting. The restaurant is beautiful and it is connected to a hotel. We went for brunch and discussed our book. Our server was so attentive and he provided excellent customer service. I ordered the Non Classico Spritz for my drink and I enjoyed it. For my entree I had the Eggs "Al Forno". It was delicious and filling. I tried some of the French toast and it was good and not sweet at all. I would definitely return to try other options on the menu. read more

A very pretty looking spot attached to a hotel with plenty of seats. Had lunch here with my friend and we did make a reservation but the place was not packed but not sure if they take walk-ins. We shared the grill octopus appetizer which was delicious! She had the salmon over salad and I tried the lemon poach shrimp with salad because honestly I saw the person next to me eating it and it looked really good! The salad was good but the lemon dressing was just too much and made the salad too sour to eat towards the bottom. The salmon had a nice sear and the skin was crispy. Loved my chai latte which was nice and hot and not too sweet. Service was ok but it did take me asking 3 different times if they can bring me bread on the side. read more

It was conveniently located off the lobby of my hotel. It was good. He was phenomenal. He was cheerful and hustled through seating a lunch rush. I wasn't quite sure what to order with some of my gluten restrictions and although they had gluten-free dough and the waitress suggested maybe a pizza I went for the chicken, which was spectacular. It was perfectly cooked with great flavor. Sad part is they didn't get the memo about Coke zero and I only had Diet Coke but I survived all in all a good experience. Don't know that I'd go out of my way to come back, but it was good. read more

Love the vibe here! We stayed at the Kimpton Eventi hotel for 2 days: Open kitchen to the pizza oven, and lots of natural light from the street. Very chic nyc eatery setting. We had the hotel breakfast here 2x and it was yummy, although we forgot to use our hotel credits... but having a pastry, fruit and 2 drinks was perfect to start our day. Croissants was flakey and delicious with jam. The grapefruit juice was refreshing and their fruit was fresh. The only downside, their coffee was not good... very much "street cart coffee" taste. lol IYKYK. Staff are friendly and quick to bring your eats out. Would come back to try their pizza. read more

Ive only been here for brunch and that was great! The soft scrambled eggs were so creamy and delicious, with the black pepper and pecorino really adding a lot of flavor. Bread with ricotta (not pictured): good stuff with the fresh ricotta with citrus and an almond-esque paste on top reminiscent of an almond croissant 2. Baked eggs: this was pretty good. Warm and comforting in the best way. 3. Ricotta pancakes: soft and fluffy. Almost like a soufflé with how airy and soft it is. Not at all heavy like a normal buttermilk pancake. A bit on the sweet cakey side but good zing with the orange. Overall, the food here was pretty good. The place is pretty. Would come back especially to check out their dinner menu. read more

We came here Sunday morning at 9 AM without any reservation. The restaurant is in a lovely hotel and has plenty of light coming into it (if you sit by the windows, you might get a little warm and need some sunglasses). We were seated promptly and the helpful waitstaff took our orders shortly thereafter. We tried a croissant, the steel-cut oatmeal with a side of mixed berries, and the lemon ricotta pancakes. The croissant had great lamination on it and was crunchy on the outside and soft a pillowy on the inside. The steel-cut oatmeal had flavorful poached apricot and cherries and the fresh fruit I had requested on the side really paired well. The lemon ricotta pancakes were fantastic and had a more soufflé-like texture to them that I really enjoyed. We had a late night dinner here and I have to say that every dish we tried was spot on. From the calamari at the start to our main dishes. But not to be forgotten, I wanted a little something sweet to finish off the meal, but I'm dairy free. Our waitress suggested the Zucchini cake. YUM!!! I would have ordered a 2nd if I hadn't been so full from all the wonderful food. We sat indoors but the walls were open enough that it felt like we were enjoying our meal on a huge covered patio. I had to help plan a work dinner for a group of 12. They offered a customized menu for a fixed rate that was perfect for what we were looking for. We all had 3 appetizers to share. Perfectly cooked pizza, burrata with blood orange and meatballs that had so much flavor. They gave plenty that everyone was able to have everything, with some having seconds. Our entree choices were the steak, veal/short rib pasta and branzino. Everyone said everything was excellent. I tried the steak which was so so good. I ended up ordering the veal/short rib pasta which was very flavorful and good as well. Pasta tasted very fresh. For dessert we had tiramisu, hazelnut cake and multiple flavors of gelato. The restaurant was surprisingly roomy and had such a great vibe. The bathroom set up is so unique and very original. Everything was clean. Staff was great and very very attentive. Wow! I saw this restaurant had lots of availability on a Friday night and (as many New Yorkers do) immediately became skeptical. I took the risk and booked it and wow wow wow! I recommend entering through the hotel it's attached to as the restaurant entrance can be hard to find at night. I arrived on time and the rest of my party was grabbing a drink at the bar. The host insisted I go join them and made no issue about holding the table while we finished drinks! How many NYC restaurants are that accommodating? We walked back into the restaurant and the host, without asking me, had already placed our menus and walked us straight to the table! The sommelier was promptly sent over and had EXCELLENT wine recommendations. The service was so seamless and no one was vying for a tip. This was such a refreshing restaurant experience in NYC. I wanted to enjoy my brunch experience here given the nice ambience and the menu items were what I normally expect to find in an awesome brunch spot. Menu looked promising. However, the food was just good, not particularly memorable. And the portions were all over the place. Some dishes looked great for sharing while others were strictly for one. It was a very European designed menu - small plates in mind so you can try more dishes. But with these prices, given the location, it was hard to justify it on the wallet without the five star quality to match. Again, A good spot for brunch and for people watching. The reservation system was a bit hicup-py. But the hosts at the restaurant were very accommodating when I arrived and explained my issues with the online system. They put me on the live waiting list and texted me with the first available. The staff overall (host, server and support staff) were all friendly and very nice. The place was as packed as can be on a Sunday afternoon in midtown given the high traffic/high tourist neighborhood. The breakfast plates as you'll see in the photos were good, loved the poached eggs. Perfectly cooked. There were no extras, not even garnish. Just nice plating. No decorative touches so it was just a simple brunch. Indeed a nice afternoon out in a nice place. You're soaking in the ambiance. And the people watching. The folks that come here are here for the atmosphere and to enjoy the company. The drinks are the draw ... Which is where the menu really grabs attention. Came here with a reservation in the middle of winter, they had seated my party in the outside area when there was nobody inside the restaurant .There were heating lamps but it would have been nice to be inside the restaurant at night time. The food to me was good but very overpriced and the worst part for me was how slow the service was. It took almost an hour for our main dishes to come out and we were already hungry coming in. Flagging down the waiter was also impossible because we were one of the two parties that were sitting outside and they never came to check in on us. Paying the bill shouldnt be so difficult. Usually don't write reviews but what the heck, Having a rough day, ordered any amazing pasta dish (veal shoulder something something I forgot) but that's besides the point, it's the hospitality that wow'd me, after paying my bill I mentioned the food was amazing, I'm just having a rough day and couldn't finished as I proceeded to asked for a to go container. My wife and I an amazing experience here. They have the best gluten free pizza we have had in the city to date. Additionally the octopus was cooked to perfection. I swear we must have made those sounds one makes when something is delicious so loudly that all the tables around us were ordering it too. We will be back. We were 6 last night for Thanksgiving dinner. What a beautiful restaurant. It was a Prix Fixe menu at a very reasonable price. We started out with pumpkin bread and Butternut Squash soup, then a full turkey dinner with all the fixings. Turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, greens, cranberry sauce, and stuffing. My wife had a lovely piece of salmon, and one of my sons had the prime rib. We topped it off with pumpkin and pecan pie. We sat out side on a covered heated patio which was great, and Sophia our server went above and beyond to make sure our Thanksgiving dinner was perfect. We had guests from out of town and this couldn't be a more perfect spot to showcase how we New Yorkers brunch! We started with drinks, I was so glad they had juices (ordered the greens juice, made of kale, spinach, ginger). Also ordered the smoked salmon pizza, I liked this, but note this is actually a cold dish, I am sure the pizza crust was freshly baked, but since salmon is actually a cold ingredient, it ended up being a lox on pita like bread, still good though. I ordered the hash and poached eggs, which were two poached eggs on top of crispy potato hash. So delicious! Hubby ordered the Eggs "Al Forno", which had a nice portion of broccoli rabe cooked inside a small cast iron pan. Additionally, our group also shared a lemon ricotta pancakes, which is a popular dish amongst all of the tables! I saw this on every single table. This was undoubtedly delicious and fluffy! It has been a while since going back to L'Amico restaurant in NYC, well I wish I did not wait so long as it was really good. The place is wonderful, the service too and I love the food, we started with Eggplant Caponata Bruschetta which was amazing, really fabulous and then the Prosciutto San Daniele with roasted pear, Gorgonzola cheese, endive and walnuts, also very tasty. Then we had a couple of pasta dishes, the Pipe Rigate with veal shoulder bolognese sauce and the Zucca pasta which I have never heard in Italian as Zucca means butternut squash, I thought it was funny as the name would be butternut squash butternut squash anyway no matter what it was called it was absolutely delicious, I will be back again soon, loved it read more

We tried to walk in around 7 but they were obviously full so they put a reservation down for us at 8:30 and suggested the cocktail bar next door. Oooooh this place did not disappoint. We weren't super hungry so we ordered an appy and a pizza to share. It was cozy inside. Noise level average for a busy restaurant. Our waitress was prompt. The prosciutto San Danielle was heavenly with the fig ricotta bread you'd eat between bites of the prosciutto. I'm still dreaming about this. The Salsiccia pizza has great crust. The toppings all vibed but much more subtle and not salty. Could use a slight pizzazz of some "bam" flavour but otherwise really tasty. And the dessert!!! We freaking love meringue. Give us a pavlova and we are over the moon. This was an amazing combination of meringue with passion fruit and ice cream and GOLD??? Talk about a bougie looking dessert but totally affordable. Came here on a Friday evening for a date night and it was honestly a great place. Once I checked-in, I was easily seated at my table and was greeted with water/menus. The food came out at a reasonable time as well. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sausages were tasty. The pizza was a bit on the burnt end with the crust, but it was still delicious. In full disclosure this was not my first choice, however my lunch guest works around the corner and was pressed for time. I arrived early and had a number emails to address and asked if I could be seated while I waited for my guest, the host could not have been more accommodating, what a refreshing surprise! Our server was pleasant and most responsive and got our orders out quickly and most importantly correctly. I had a pizza and my guest a salad with salmon. My pizza was delicious, most flavorful and I enjoyed the consistency. Her salmon was perfectly cooked as well. My only concern would be the menu although creative I would have enjoyed a few basic entrees offers. All in all it was a delightful surprise finished off with two Americano coffees.
