Birraporetti's Friendswood: "PAY $50 OR ELSE!" I had received a $50 Birraporetti's gift certificate from a dear friend. So today, for lunch, I decided to pick up a pizza to go (never tried their pizza). I dropped by to pick up the pizza and handed over the gift certificate. The bartender said, "I can't complete the transaction." He said that, since the pizza was only $20, I would lose the remaining $30 of the certificate. I asked if he could just issue the remainder on another certificate. He said no, but went to verify with management. The answer was again, "No." I was told that I would have to forfeit the remaining $30. A female customer at the bar who witnessed the whole conversation spoke up, "They can't do that." Note: Nowhere on the gift certificate does it state that the total amount must be redeemed during a single visit. Not only CAN they do that, they WILL do that! If anyone reading this is considering giving a $50 gift certificate or even larger amount to Birraporetti's, you might want to rethink it. KNOW that the recipient of your gift certificate will have to eat the ENTIRE AMOUNT of the gift certificate in food at one sitting or else forfeit the remainder. I cannot eat, and did not want, 2.5 LARGE pizzas (20 slices) for lunch. A Birraporetti's gift certificate might NOT be such a good "gift" after all. There will not be a return visit to Birraporetti's by myself nor anyone else in my family. My friend, the person who gave me the gift certificate, and her family will also no longer be patronizing Birraporetti's (much less handing out any more gift cards to the restaurant). Birraporetti's Friendswood location lost at least nine repeat customers today (and possibly the female customer at the bar) over their greed and pettiness. Over $30? I'm just glad that the gift certificate wasn't for a larger amount! Bad management. Bad decisions. read more

Over Priced. We have been to Birraporeties several times. I personally haven't been impressed with their food. Although, it is my Son-in-law's, Go-To Place ! They Usually have a crowd, so I guess, they are doing something right. The "straw that broke the camel's back" for me was, my wife & I took 2 "little" grandchildren there for dinner. Made reservations for St. Patrick's day. Didn't know they had a live bad in this tiny restaurant that was SO LOUD no one could even hear themselves talk! We were seated and could just stare at each other but no one even came to the table to give us water or anything for at least 15 minutes. We absolutely loved our server Amber! She was so friendly, attentive, and efficient throughout our whole meal. The hostess was also very welcoming and everyone made our dinner enjoyable. My husband was sooooo excited to take me here for Valentines dinner! He grew up going to the original one and was very excited to find out there was one in Friendswood. First red flag, the place was pretty empty for any night let alone Valentines. We decided on escargot for an app, garden salad for him, caesar salad for me, manicotti with sausage and the and the beef medallions with pasta. Drinks took a long time. When I got my martini it was so salty from olive juice I could barley drink it and switched to wine. There was 2 pieces of bread with the escargot and it was pretty meh. My salad was warm and really didn't have any flavor. I didn't finish it. When our entree came out just looking at it you knew it was going to be bad. It LOOKED bad. It WAS bad. The medallions, I don't know how to describe it, just bad. The pasta that came with it had I think was supposed to be an alfredo sauce. Not really sure but the pasta was all stuck together and pasty with the sauce tasting like some sort of white stuff. Same with the Manicotti. My husband was so sad and kept apologizing to me because it was so bad. My heart went out to him. He went on and on about the place the whole way there. It was like going to see your childhood home and finding out it's been blown up. The final straw was this morning. My tummy was destroyed and had to stay close to the bathroom. If we could give less than 1 star, we would. The staff were nice. It's not their fault. The buffet was horrible. What was left out there was old and shriveled. The items they advertised - like fresh pasta on the buffet - nope. Just the edges of dried out lasagna, and we stayed 1.5 hours thinking they would refresh it. They didn't. The omelette station - unmanned. The waffle station - unmanned. So, you could stare at raw eggs in a room temp bucket, but not eat an omelette. The wait staff was super nice. This is no reflection on them. And, we saw staff arguing about not refilling the items on the buffet 2 hours before it closed, but we couldn't tell what they were saying - just that it didn't happen. read more

Mediocre. My aunt loves this place so she took me here for lunch. I was expecting superb service and quality of good. I've been on the paleo diet for five weeks and was looking for a good cheat meal so I got the baked penne. It was pricey for the size and it was tough and had little to no flavor. They don't offer bread and oil or any salad like other Italian restaurants. It's all separate at steep prices I don't know I was just expecting more. My office will sometimes get takeout here for lunch. I'm not impressed. Food is flavorless and service is nearly nonexistent when picking it up. Numerous times I have gone to pick up the food and they won't start getting it ready until you are there to pick it up and pay for it. My wife asks - what do you want for supper I thought about it a minute and I said why don't we go out. After all it was Saturday night and we had both worked hard all week. She immediately pops out why don't we go to be a Biaporetti's in Friendswood. I wasn't in the mood for Italian food and I told her so, but as is normal - my wife usually gets her way and I obediently tagged along. It was Saturday night and we live 15 miles away from the Friendswood restaurant so I thought let's go online and make reservation using Yelp. Using the iPhone app was easy convenient and kind of fun to do and we went ahead and made reservations. Where are greeted by very sweet young ladies who confirmed our reservations made with yelp and helped seat us, first impressions were very good. Our waitress came by took our drink and appetizer order and things are underway pleasantly. When the appetizer arrived - I can't remember what it was... some kind of bread with seasoned tomatoes on top, we did not have any plates to eat it on, and it was potentially messy food. After waiting for a few minutes I saw our waitress one table over delivering drinks and I tried to get her attention. That was the first problem, even though I know she saw me waving she refused to look. I waited a few more minutes hoping that she had noticed. There no one close to help me so I got up and went to the food serving area and asked for two plates which I received. With the manager helping the cook staff and listening to what I had said, he did not wonder why I was having to come after plates myself. That bothered me also. After returning to the table with my plates, i tried to eat the appetizer but the tomatoes were so ripe that they were mushy. I love tomatoes. These were bad. However, the rest of the evening was smooth sailing, the rest of the food was very good, the waitress was pleasant and I did leave her a good tip although I shouldn't have rewarded her for ignoring me when I know darn well that she saw me. I can't blame it on the place being busy because even though it was Saturday night close to 8 o'clock there was there was no wait or line to get in. Bottom line I enjoyed the steak that I ordered and my wife enjoyed her Italian entrée however I really wish that the staff and management would've been more attentive. I leaned heavily on the waiter for food recommendations, and everything from the wine to the food to dessert was a hit. Really good food, good presentation, great wine, I was totally shocked. Let's start off with the hostess walking us in an area that just had a spill. Surprise... I just about busted my butt. Carpet was tattered in the front entry. This was our first visit here. We haven't eaten here in a while and decided to have a quick lunch. When we arrived there was a bit of a wait for someone to greet and seat us. I was worried this would be a bad omen since they were definitely not packed. But once we were seated we ordered a pizza and spaghetti with Italian sausage added to the pasta. Our orders arrived promptly and both were exactly what we requested. We noticed that there were only two servers and apparently only two kitchen staff on duty, which explained the delay in being greeted. Our server, Spencer, kept our drinks filled and checked on us regularly throughout the meal. We saw some previous reviews that were not favorable, but our meal and service were handled with a problem. I would still recommend this restaurant for Italian dishes. read more

Went there last evening around 6:30 PM with the wife hoping to have a nice dinner. First, there was no one the greet us at the door for over 5 minutes. The place is rather small and had a musician playing the guitar with box music so load that the host could hardly hear us. We were seated in a booth and when the waiter came to the table the music was so loud that you could not hear him or could he hear us, so we decided to gracefully leave. Manager at the front desk was not concerned and stated too bad. The is not a restaurant, just a barroom that sells overpriced food. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME UNLESS YOU JUST WANT TO DRINK! read more

Stopped here for lunch recently with my youngest adult daughter. The food was outstanding. The Margarita's were outstanding but getting a second cocktail was a little more difficult than I would have preferred based on the fact there were only about five active tables at the time. I'm seriously addicted to the "pollo poretti" it's the best dish here. While the food comes out slow the service is always friendly and good (I've never dined when it's busy) the garlic bread is hot and fresh. Nice, clean ambiance but I wish it wasn't so expensive and to me it's really high priced for pasta. My wife swears it's the best spinach alfredo she has ever had. I was really craving some nice Italian food without having to clean up at home and gave this place a try. Bad mistake. The food was not so great and out of our dining party the best dish was the spaghetti and meatballs. My plate had shrimp that were almost completely raw. Yuck! Sent it back and asked for chicken instead and even then the plate was not so great. I ended up eating leftovers back at home (what I should of done in the first place). Mot night was the final straw, as I called in a to go order for a bowl of pasta, with their "Arora" sauce & chicken I was informed by a server that I could only order items off the menu.?!? I asked to talk with the manager, who could not get my order correct when repeated back to me. When I told the manager never mind he HUNG UP ON ME!
