Giant delicious biscuits! Pictures don't do justice to how large their biscuits are, we tried the filthy animal and the country ham. Both were very good, they also have a jam bar which is very unique. Would recommend!

I like biscuits. I'm in the South. How could I pass up a place called Biscuit Head? My wife was skeptical. I was right. First thing you notice is that a lot of folks like this place. The line was out the door and we had to wait for seats. As we worked our way toward the counter we had time to figure out our choices. Order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The layout is basic, simple tables and chairs, but you're here for those biscuits. Fluffy tall biscuits covered with sausage gravy and fried or scrambled eggs are a common choice. Or some version of a biscuit sandwich. Maybe add some fried chicken. This is the good stuff. They have tons of sauces to choose from too. There's a lot of variety making this a good breakfast or brunch spot.

I can't stop thinking about this glorious place! They have a fantastic menu, ranging from familiar favorites to inventive creations. Loved the spacious indoor seating; lots of long tables for larger parties. But the best part by far is the homemade jam bar!

Best place to eat breakfast in Asheville if you like biscuits, jams, and hearty breakfast meals. This is our favorite place. We only eat breakfast here every year for our annual trip to Asheville. Everything on the menu is delicious. The coffee bar is extensive and they always have special drinks. Try the bacon of the day! Take full advantage of the jam bar. The service is always friendly and is much faster than the lines make it look. 100/10 recommend

(4.25 stars) Biscuit Head has acquired a lofty reputation since it opened its doors more than a decade ago, and it was only a matter of time before we ended up here to see if it lived up to the hype. One drawback to said reputation: it gets busy, and it gets loud. Best try to catch them during an off-peak hour and hope that you can snag an open table. That caveat aside, the menu is great. You can keep it simple with a biscuit and your choice of topping, roll the dice with a biscuit sandwich, or step up and take on a gut-busting breakfast platter. There are also sweet dishes and a bar full of complimentary jams. My wife and I went with the biscuit of the day (Korean fried chicken), a biscuit with mushroom gravy, fried green tomatoes, and a side of bacon. The biscuits were good, but if you get them in a sandwich, don't expect the sandwich to hold together. No matter: forks exist for a reason. The Korean fried chicken included both Korean BBQ sauce and pimento cheese, an interesting fusion of Asian and Southern that somehow worked. The accompanying tots were crispy and addictive, and the mushroom gravy was creamy and rich. The fried green tomatoes were respectable but would have been better topped with pimento. Ultimately, Biscuit Head did not disappoint. The biscuits weren't the best I've ever had, but the food here was still satisfying.

Hands down, these are some of the best biscuits I've ever had! They're large, fluffy, and incredibly soft on the inside. Biscuit Head is a must visit if you're in the area and craving a fun, lively breakfast spot. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and helpful. What truly impressed me was their wide variety of house made jams! They have jam stations where customers can mix and match, trying different flavors on their biscuits. I highly recommend the raspberry, peach rosemary, and mango chili jams; but they're all fantastic! I loved them so much that I bought a few bottles to take home. The restaurant itself is spacious, with seating options for large groups or just a party of two. There's also a charming outdoor patio with picnic-style tables, perfect for a cool spring morning.

Knew this place was going to be good based off of the line going all the way through the door! We had a hard time picking what we were going to eat given their wide variety of things to go along with biscuits. Don't let the long line fool you, the service was very quick! We got the classic sandwich with sriracha maple sausage, fruit, side of sausage gravy. We appreciated the jam bar they had and the wide variety. The biscuits were large and very crumbly which made eating the sandwich somewhat difficult. The sausage gravy was delicious and was a great added side to dip the crumbles into.

Food was cold. Who wants a cold hard biscuit? Service was good. Staff is friendly. Seats are limited. You have to order first before you can get a table. Some tables are set up communal so be prepared to share a table with others. Not a fan of how people are hovering over tables while people are eating.

Came in for a quick breakfast before driving out of Asheville and thought biscuits would be a great filling start to our day. I enjoyed the interior and exterior with it being cat-themed. Your order number comes with a picture of a real cat which I found to be a cute touch. They also have a generous jam/hot sauce bar which was really fun to try and adds a unique twist to your experience. My partner got the Half Breakfast with a side of bacon. She really enjoyed the jam bar since she was able to customize each bite to her liking. I tried the biscuit by itself and I have to say that I wasn't that impressed. It was just fine at best and so for a "biscuit-specific" restaurant, this fell flat. It didn't seem like it was made right then and there between the luke warm temperature and the brittle texture. I got the Asheville Benedict which was interesting. I wanted a slightly 'healthier' biscuit option and so this one was more vegetable forward which I definitely appreciated. However the end result with a warm biscuit and very cold veggies made for a temperature clash that was not very pleasant. I think there's a world where this specific dish could work (maybe separate some of the elements) but as constructed, it's kind of all over the place. I'm confident that had I gotten a different item I'd give it higher marks, but this specific dish plus the biscuit being average really let this meal down for me.

Service and ambiance worked out as the line was not very long. I got GF biscuits smothered in sweet potato coconut gravy, the only GF and vegan gravy available. The gravy came out very warm, and the flavor was complex, but it was almost kind of sweet. Regardless, pretty grateful that there was a suitable biscuits and gravy option.

I appreciate that this place offers a vegan/gluten-free option. Sadly, they weren't great. The gravy had pieces of sweet potato and was more of a soup? Not bad necessarily, just not a gravy at all and didn't satisfy the craving. The biscuit was just ok. One cool thing is the jam bar! Tried a few jams that were tasty. Went on a weekday morning and it was pretty empty and service was fast.

This is a great find! My friends and I Ioved the jam bar. The biscuits were delicious, and I would highly recommend the green tomato marmalade. The sriracha maple sausage had a nice blend of sweet and spicy flavors. My friend tried the seitan sausage and really enjoyed it too. This is definitely a must-try if you're visiting Asheville! read more

Came on a Sunday morning. Line was out the door, and for good reason. I ordered the "Half Breakfast" and it was huge--couldn't imagine the "Full Breakfast"! Biscuits the size of your head, awesome jam bar (I enjoyed the Candied Pecan butter and local honey), and laid-back atmosphere. Def recommended if you want a hearty breakfast. read more

I visited this cool restaurant in December 2014 on vacation. My friend recommended it because she was a regular there. I must say I've never had so many choices when it came to jellies and butters, they had bacon butter, banana butter, pecan butter, apple jelly, apricot jelly... I mean, the list goes on!!! I had the eggs benedict but it's not your typical eggs benedict there was no muffin it's an actual biscuit the size of a 'cats head' and it didn't have ham or Canadian bacon, it had REAL bacon and I loved it!!! The hollandaise sauce was superb!!! I wish there was a biscuit head in Los Angeles!!! read more

Lots of flavors to add to a giant biscuit. I don't see the hype. It was good but not worth waiting 20 minutes. Noisy and chaotic. I guess i should go there with average expectations and try more options, then i would've given a 4 probably. Street parking made it cumbersome too, but that and the wait probably hones one's appetite. read more

The biscuits are a beautiful thing! There is no other place like it. The West Asheville location has better ambiance. It is an Asheville favorite and definitely somethings all tourist should do. Food is fabulous and inexpensive. read more

I have two rules when it comes to food and traveling - 1. Always eat at a locally owned restaurant 2. Never eat at the same restaurant twice. I had to break a rule for Biscuit Head! My friend and I ate here two mornings in a row. Go before 10:00 to avoid a long line, but there is always a line. The line moves quickly, but this allows you to find a seat immediately after you order. I ordered the classic (cheese and egg biscuit with one side). The chevre grits were rich, but delicious, and the biscuit was large! I loved the homemade jellies and butters at the jelly/butter bar! The maple bacon latte is a MUST ORDER! read more

This 5 star rating is well earned. Biscuit Head for the last year and a half, has not let me down once. Service is always spectacular, the staff is friendly, courteous, and straight to the point. The food is always delicious and hasn't disappointed me, no matter what I choose. My go-to is a biscuit with fried chicken gravy. I have no idea what is in the friend chicken gravy, other than friend chicken. And it's magic for nursing a hangover. They have grapefruit and regular mimosas, which compliment their back porch on a sunny day pretty nicely. You can't go wrong with Biscuit Head, and don't be afraid of the line, it moves quick!! read more

Awesome!! So worth the wait! We got there between 9-9:30 and had a minimal wait from the door. When we left, there was a line wrapped around the building outside. Get there early. It's a -wait in line then get a table-place. But the tables turn over quickly and the food came out super fast after we ordered. Delicious! I got the full breakfast with fried green tomatoes and grits. And the jam bar was off the chain! Enjoy. Nom nom read more

I had read all the great reviews of this place. I decided to give it a try after hiking in Pisgah. The menu was very big and had lots of options. I was disappointed in the my dish, kinda bland and not really feeling. Extremely costly for what it was. read more

Great biscuits! Had the brisket biscuit and tried the pulled pork biscuit! Both recommended. Awesome jam and butter bar. Yes it's worth the line out the door in the cold. Staff was ok. Obviously they are rushing to get people in and out. They forgot a few things then showed a little frustration when asked for them. Only reason I didn't go 5* read more

There is a disturbing lack of a good biscuit at biscuit head. The full breakfast, which comes with a biscuit, two eggs, and two sides was decent. However, the biscuit lacked alot of flavor and was undercooked. They have a large selection of jams and butters to try on your bland biscuit. They also have a "gravy" flight which is an interesting concept. Over all there are better breakfasts in Asheville. If you are looking for a variety of choices and flavor options try it, just don't expect a good biscuit. read more

Wonderful meal. The pulled pork biscuit was fantastic. The sriracha cole slaw is awesome. My lady friend loved the catfish and coconut collard collard greed which she loved. Inside is noisy, which is cool, with The Ramones jamming. However, it was so nice that we sat outside. Only disappointment was the Bloody Mary. They use a mix, and mixes are awful. read more

HFS.... I am so in love. The line was really long but I was meeting friends there so I was prepared to suck it up.. to my pleasant surprise, the line moves pretty fast!! They have so many dishes to choose from, and they are so creative! I have never seen so many butters and jams, and I tasted almost every one of them! Putting coleslaw with chicken and eggs is pure genius and I have been dreaming about that meal since I left Asheville a week ago. Can you open one in NJ? Please?!!!?!?! read more

Incredible!! So so so good. Fried chicken biscuit is the bomb, the Asheville Benedict is a very close second. Excellent hollandaise sauce! Brisket biscuit is also very good, tender and hearty. But the best part is the plethora of homemade butters, spreads and jams to try- mmf! read more

This place is great if you are looking for a large breakfast. The biscuit sandwiches are huge. I wish I could have tried more of the butters and jams, but I loved the raspberry and mango jalapeno. I'm genuinely baffled by all the 5 star reviews this place has. I ordered the fried green tomatoes biscuit plate and even though it came out relatively quickly the temperature of everything on the plate (eggs, fried tomato, biscuit, etc) was either cold or room temperature. I suspect the fried green tomatoes were fried in advance and put in the fridge because nothing on my plate should have made it as cold as it was. It was incredibly unappetizing. It was also very under seasoned. The flavor was not offensive (all I tasted was tomato, egg, and soggy bread) but it was very bland and didn't even come close to the standards of other restaurants in Asheville, and certainly was not worth the price. The biscuit itself was decent but nothing special, anyone could make a biscuit of that quality in their own kitchen and it wouldn't be soggy and cold. Other reviewers said the service was incredibly friendly but when we got to the counter to order the person taking orders didn't speak a word to us besides telling us our total and prices. My partner asked a question about if he should get gravy with his meal and the person at the counter essentially shrugged and just told him the price of the gravy which was not what he was asking for... This is the first food I've been disappointed by in Asheville and it has some of the best reviews which is puzzling. If I go back (not likely) i will stick to a plain biscuit and the sides, so the cold temperature is less of an issue and it won't be so incredibly soggy. I also got a side of grits that would have been decent if not for the overpowering smoked goat cheese that they put on top for some reason (I love goat cheese but it did NOT work in these grits). Very disappointed in this place and I think that the positive reviews must be from people who have not had good southern breakfasts before. I also can't help but notice the majority of the positive reviews are from people who were visiting Asheville from out of town and must not realize that there are countless other restaurants with much better food... Isis and Sunny Point are right near Biscuit Head and have MUCH better breakfast food and are either the same price or cheaper, and usually have a shorter line too. read more

Overall the food was pretty good. My grits and eggs were nothing special and my husband said there was too much cream cheese on the Asheville Benedict. BUT those biscuits were incredible! Next time we visit we'll be sure to just order biscuits and try all the different jellies at the jelly bar. The staff was also super kind and welcoming. We'll definitely be back! read more

We waited in line outside for about 40 minutes and it was hot but the food was worth it. The portions are huge and it's a low key spot to get a delicious meal. I had the gravy flight and the husband had the chicken biscuit. We will definitely go again the next time we are in town. read more

This might be the greatest breakfast I've ever had. I got the Cajun Benedict and Moon fries. Erica got biscuit doughnuts for dessert with lemon sauce which I tried some of. I would've liked to stick around longer if their beer selection were better, but I could see why they wanted to get people out quickly. The line was out the door. read more

One of the best things that has ever happened to Asheville the food is absolutely incredible and priced fair the different jams that they have are to die for and the look of the restaurant is a sight to see the owner and chef was very friendly and came out to make sure that everything was perfect for us I would definitely frequent this place as much as possible by far the best breakfast place in town I have visited there several times in the way is reasonable and believe me it is worth it I don't have one bad thing to say about this place and I would recommend it to anybody and everybody read more

They even sell shirts that say neither hoity nor toity, which cracked me up. Honestly, the atmosphere was great, but our waitress was the real star. She was absolutely phenomenal and looked after us perfectly. My palate was pretty fried, so I started with a Bloody Mary to wake up. Truth be told, it was just okay. The house mix had an odd flavor that nobody at the table could quite identify, and it seriously lacked spice. It was just kinda bland. I noticed a bottle of Firewalker hot sauce on the table, and splashing that in helped a little bit. After that, I transitioned to a mimosa. You really cannot mess up a mimosa too much, and it was a solid, reliable second drink. For the main event, I ordered the southern chicken and waffles. This came with a fried chicken breast sitting on golden malted waffles, smothered in sausage gravy, and drizzled with chipotle honey. It was a really great dish. The kitchen did a solid job with the fry on the chicken, and the gravy had a nice flavor. It leaned a little on the sweet side because of the honey, but it was not totally overdone. For my entrée, I ordered the 4-ounce Petite Filet. The steak arrived cooked a perfect medium rare with excellent flavor and texture. It was served with butter-whipped mashed potatoes, haricot verts, a crisp potato gaufrette, red wine demi-glace, and chive butter. Every component was thoughtfully prepared. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we had seen some items we wanted to try, but the sanitation grade on the door was a 90, so that quickly changed our food choice and should have changed our food experience for the evening. We decided to try it anyway! The hostess didn't know the menu very well and couldn't answer many questions without having to go ask someone each time. Once we ordered, my brother tried paying for the food a few times and she kept walking away. While waiting for our food, the same hostess "cleaned" a table for waiting guests by wiping the food from last guest onto the floor and leaving it there and continued to seat the next few tables, and then decided to come back and get the food swept up. I guess it's normal because another server did the same thing and that never got swept up. Our food (wings and brisket) was ready. The pan lid was not closed all the way due to them putting all 36 wings that had different flavors in the same container. We continued to inspect our food and the wings weren't hot (fresh), all three flavors in the same container, sauce was clumpy, and wings were very dark and dry looking. We couldn't tell which flavor was which. My husband tried conversing with a young man (tall, dark wavy hair), who couldn't or wouldn't attempt any service recovery with my husband and pretty much told us everything looked good to him leaving my husband frustrated. I located a manager told her what was going on and she evidently didn't have any empowerment from upper management to decide resolution because she had to go ask the general manager to resolve. The general manager agreed to "remake" the order which they did separate the flavors this time and they were warmer. Considering this was a remake the GM brought our order out to us and should have been apologetic, making sure everything was correct and was satisfactory to us. He literally handed my husband the bag and took off. My husband had to make a comment to him in order for the GM to acknowledge him. We definitely would love to speak to a corporate member and or owner, and will make a phone call to them. This was very disappointing, concerning, and a disheartening experience in Asheville!

I had a house salad and some dilly beans for lunch. The house salad was fresh and extremely well balanced. I'm glad they had something vegetable centric available. The dilly beans were good, but quite a bit for a single human. They're probably the type of thing you would want to split among friends. I actually showed up for an event in the evening where they served pizza using dough fermented with one of their yeast strains. That was truly excellent. Nicely balanced, not over the top, with a deeply flavorful crust. If you're in Asheville, I would consider this a must visit destination.

Our millennial daughters brought us to Biscuit Head on a recent trip to Asheville, NC, and I am so glad they did! Delicious, well-prepared, fresh, inventive breakfast choices that inevitably include a perfectly baked home-made biscuit make Biscuit Head an absolute MUST for your Asheville culinary experience. A highlight is their self-serve jam/preserves/honey cart with over a dozen tasty delights freshly prepared at the restaurant daily. My favorite was amaretto marmalade -- yeah, definitely worth a somewhat early rise; we got there just before nine and the self-order line was out the door within fifteen minutes. Did I mention the prices? Super reasonable for a lot of great food and condiment choices that will start your day in a creative city with a unique gastronomic experience. The staff is efficient, helpful and friendly, surrounded by an artsy, warm and winning environment in which you'll find families, as well as individuals of all ages. I signed up for Yelp just to leave this review, since it was the reviews that others have left that made me visit. I'm SO GLAD we braved the line. It looks long, but it moves fast. Let me start by saying that the staff is incredible. Everyone we encountered on a busy weekend day was upbeat and friendly, even though they were completely slammed. They even seemed to be having fun! Now, let's get to the food. THE FOOD. I had the brisket biscuit and it was ten stars out of five. Perfect in every way. My wife had the Asheville Benedict (recommended by the cashier) and it was a work of art on the plate. We visited the jam bar and IT IS HEAVEN. I can't say enough about the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. I will visit any time I am in the area. Do yourself a favor and GO. Don't be afraid of the line. Truly amazing and a must go if you're in Asheville. There's always a line. We waited about an hour, but don't let that deter you. The food is exceptional! It's a small restaurant, but by the line moving slow there's ample seating inside once you place your order. The biscuits alone are great, but they have a large selection of biscuit sandwiches that makes it hard to choose only one! We ordered their pulled pork biscuit and the fried green tomato biscuit. The pulled pork was good, but the fried green tomato biscuit was amazing! We were talking about it for days - that's how good it was. We also ordered a plain biscuit on the side so we could try their jam and butter bar which was fun to try so many unique flavors. They also have gluten free and vegan biscuits so there's something here for everyone! I can't wait to visit Asheville again so I can come back. read more

Waited in line a long time, but the wait staff was fun and friendly, and we never felt neglected. Blonde girl who took our order was super helpful and fun. Under her recommendation, I had the Asheville Benedict and it was the best breakfast I've ever had. TOTALLY worth the wait. My whole family loved everything (Mimosa Chicken was divine), but we felt guilty that we couldn't finish the whole meal. Ton of food on those plates. 5 stars to the energetic wait staff, and kudos to the kitchen. Biscuit Head is now going to be a regular stop when we're in Asheville. Don't be afraid of the line! We ordered carryout since my inlaws didn't want to do the wait. The biscuits were themselves were good. Large portion sizes. But we were not aware that the gravies would be spicy. When it says sausage gravy, you have an expectation of what it is. My fried green tomato biscuit was also spicy. No where does it say that everything would be spicy. I could not eat my full meal because of how spicy it was The gravy was not very good at all. My husband had their famous Filthy Animal and it was only OK. I was super excited to try this place and was VERY disappointed. read more

The food is great, but it's way too overcrowded to enjoy much of the time. If you go early (especially on weekdays), you miss the place being overrun by hipsters and it's just so pleasant. The biscuits and gravy are fantastic. What's probably the coolest thing here, though, is the jam and butter bar (I find even regulars sometimes don't use it or notice it as it's in the back of the dining area). Tip: if there is no seating in the dining room, check through the back door on a decent day. There is a patio with seating. read more

Biscuits served as a sandwich, with gravy or use their jam bar! Can't go wrong with the chicken gravy or chorizo sausage. And the jam bar must have over a dozen flavors including bananas foster. The fresh squeezed oj is awesome but a small is well, small. This place stays busy. There was a line out the door, but it moves pretty well. And service doesn't lack. Cashier was friendly, offered us a gravy sample and explained some food choices. Usually extra stuff like that goes out the window when there's a crowd! read more

In Asheville for the weekend, and made an yelp account just to give a shout out to the places I loved, this was one of them! great food, southern at its best. I highly recommend going early in the day, we got there around 8:15am and there was a small line, by 9 it was out the door! read more

Just go down Haywood Road in West Asheville, and look for the place with a line down the sidewalk. The biscuits are huge, and come with all kinds of unusual sides and gravies. My favorite is a butter and jam filled biscuit. Simple goodness. read more
