Food: the food came out quick. It looks nice. The biscuit tastes fresh but it wasn't hot. For the filthy animal, the only thing that came out hot was the fried chicken and the rest was kinda warm or room temp. The same with the classic sandwich Services: I walked in and tried to stay to the side to look at the menu. One of the workers told me to stand around the bar to order. I told her I wasn't ready yet and I received a dirty look. First timer here and I don't want to stand in line without knowing what I want and hold up the line. I thought it was rude. Ambiance: cute area with indoor seating. Good amount of tables but there are signs everywhere saying order before you sit.
I like biscuits. I'm in the South. How could I pass up a place called Biscuit Head? My wife was skeptical. I was right. First thing you notice is that a lot of folks like this place. The line was out the door and we had to wait for seats. As we worked our way toward the counter we had time to figure out our choices. Order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The layout is basic, simple tables and chairs, but you're here for those biscuits. Fluffy tall biscuits covered with sausage gravy and fried or scrambled eggs are a common choice. Or some version of a biscuit sandwich. Maybe add some fried chicken. This is the good stuff. They have tons of sauces to choose from too. There's a lot of variety making this a good breakfast or brunch spot.
(4.25 stars) Biscuit Head has acquired a lofty reputation since it opened its doors more than a decade ago, and it was only a matter of time before we ended up here to see if it lived up to the hype. One drawback to said reputation: it gets busy, and it gets loud. Best try to catch them during an off-peak hour and hope that you can snag an open table. That caveat aside, the menu is great. You can keep it simple with a biscuit and your choice of topping, roll the dice with a biscuit sandwich, or step up and take on a gut-busting breakfast platter. There are also sweet dishes and a bar full of complimentary jams. My wife and I went with the biscuit of the day (Korean fried chicken), a biscuit with mushroom gravy, fried green tomatoes, and a side of bacon. The biscuits were good, but if you get them in a sandwich, don't expect the sandwich to hold together. No matter: forks exist for a reason. The Korean fried chicken included both Korean BBQ sauce and pimento cheese, an interesting fusion of Asian and Southern that somehow worked. The accompanying tots were crispy and addictive, and the mushroom gravy was creamy and rich. The fried green tomatoes were respectable but would have been better topped with pimento. Ultimately, Biscuit Head did not disappoint. The biscuits weren't the best I've ever had, but the food here was still satisfying.
Best place to eat breakfast in Asheville if you like biscuits, jams, and hearty breakfast meals. This is our favorite place. We only eat breakfast here every year for our annual trip to Asheville. Everything on the menu is delicious. The coffee bar is extensive and they always have special drinks. Try the bacon of the day! Take full advantage of the jam bar. The service is always friendly and is much faster than the lines make it look. 100/10 recommend
Hands down, these are some of the best biscuits I've ever had! They're large, fluffy, and incredibly soft on the inside. Biscuit Head is a must visit if you're in the area and craving a fun, lively breakfast spot. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and helpful. What truly impressed me was their wide variety of house made jams! They have jam stations where customers can mix and match, trying different flavors on their biscuits. I highly recommend the raspberry, peach rosemary, and mango chili jams; but they're all fantastic! I loved them so much that I bought a few bottles to take home. The restaurant itself is spacious, with seating options for large groups or just a party of two. There's also a charming outdoor patio with picnic-style tables, perfect for a cool spring morning.
Food was cold. Who wants a cold hard biscuit? Service was good. Staff is friendly. Seats are limited. You have to order first before you can get a table. Some tables are set up communal so be prepared to share a table with others. Not a fan of how people are hovering over tables while people are eating.
Came in for a quick breakfast before driving out of Asheville and thought biscuits would be a great filling start to our day. I enjoyed the interior and exterior with it being cat-themed. Your order number comes with a picture of a real cat which I found to be a cute touch. They also have a generous jam/hot sauce bar which was really fun to try and adds a unique twist to your experience. My partner got the Half Breakfast with a side of bacon. She really enjoyed the jam bar since she was able to customize each bite to her liking. I tried the biscuit by itself and I have to say that I wasn't that impressed. It was just fine at best and so for a "biscuit-specific" restaurant, this fell flat. It didn't seem like it was made right then and there between the luke warm temperature and the brittle texture. I got the Asheville Benedict which was interesting. I wanted a slightly 'healthier' biscuit option and so this one was more vegetable forward which I definitely appreciated. However the end result with a warm biscuit and very cold veggies made for a temperature clash that was not very pleasant. I think there's a world where this specific dish could work (maybe separate some of the elements) but as constructed, it's kind of all over the place. I'm confident that had I gotten a different item I'd give it higher marks, but this specific dish plus the biscuit being average really let this meal down for me.
Service and ambiance worked out as the line was not very long. I got GF biscuits smothered in sweet potato coconut gravy, the only GF and vegan gravy available. The gravy came out very warm, and the flavor was complex, but it was almost kind of sweet. Regardless, pretty grateful that there was a suitable biscuits and gravy option.
I appreciate that this place offers a vegan/gluten-free option. Sadly, they weren't great. The gravy had pieces of sweet potato and was more of a soup? Not bad necessarily, just not a gravy at all and didn't satisfy the craving. The biscuit was just ok. One cool thing is the jam bar! Tried a few jams that were tasty. Went on a weekday morning and it was pretty empty and service was fast.
Definitely quality breakfast food!! The portions were huge -- I didn't finish my eggs or biscuit because I was so stuffed. The fried chicken was delicious, and the biscuit was extremely fluffy. The only reason I'm giving them 4/5 stars is that this food was super heavy and the gravy in the loaded home fries was pretty salty, so I didn't feel... the best afterwards. There was also a pretty long line that went out the door, but otherwise service was fast and the prices were fair. Not sure if I would come back, but glad I got to experience this yummy comfort food! read more
It lives up to the hype! We waited in line for probably about 30 minutes but it was worth the wait. You order at the counter and then find a seat. We had only been sitting for about 3 minutes when our food was delivered to our table! The staff was friendly and very helpful. If you're not jelly yet you will be! The biscuits head is for anyone that loves biscuits, their biscuits are big, soft and fluffy. They also have a jelly bar for jelly lovers. Know that when you arrive the line may be out of the building but it moves quickly. The food is really good, the pimento cheese gravy on the animal is very unique but man was it delicious ( it too cheesy just a hint to amplify flavor). The bacon on the filth animal was crispy and the eggs and cheese under it was very good (the egg was cooked nice, not runny or tough). My wife had the Southern Scramble which was really good. It's potato's really popped inside of the egg and bacons scramble and her eggs were fluffy and filling. The cheese ratio was great and packed a punch of flavor. Oh and i can't forget about the sautéed onions to give the meal that extra flavor. My latte was good, not great but got the job done. Honestly the food is what did it for me. Also the staff is kind and turns tables quick to make sure new guests are sat quickly. read more

When I'm away I always find it nice to sit for breakfast. I did a little research and Biscuit Head consistently came up as one of the top breakfast spots in Asheville. As such, I made plans to check it out for breakfast the morning we were heading home. There are actually three Biscuit Heads in Asheville. We chose this one in West Asheville since it was in the vicinity of a couple of other places we wanted to check out. As we approached the restaurant I noticed a decent-sized line to get in. We were in no rush, so we got on line to wait. I quickly discovered that you actually place your order first, then sit down and you're served your order. All in all the wait wasn't too bad, I think it took us about 30 minutes to get to the front of the line. I was browsing the menu while we waited - Biscuit Head specializes in Southern food, and that was definitely apparent in their offerings. I of course wanted a biscuit, so I decided to go ultra traditional and get a classic sandwich which was just a biscuit sandwich with egg and cheese. I got to choose my side so I went with gouda fries which were essentially roasted potatoes with some shredded cheese on them. The sandwich was good - the biscuit was nice and fluffy with good flavor. It was a little too sloppy to eat with my hands, but I think that was the point =). Everyone was very friendly, and overall I really feel that Biscuit Head dishes out the goods. There's a reason why they're so popular and it's definitely worth it to stop in for some breakfast. read more

Got here at 10:45ish on a Sunday and there was a line out the door to order food - waited in line until about 11:20 to order food, but once ordered the food comes out very quick. i found the eggs and sausage to be unbelievably bland, but the biscuit was amazing & I really liked the unique jams available at the "jam" bar where you serve yourself. Was able to get a table but there's pretty limited seating inside and outside. Also, prices were very reasonable! Lastly in the lot behind the restaurant parking is $4 an hour and they don't validate :/ so didn't love that either read more

Fantastic place for a huge biscuit sandwich. There is a bit of a wait, but worth it. They don't have a tone of space to eat there but we sat at a picnic table in the back. A local friend recommended this spot without actually having ever tried it. Something about Asheville flavor or culture or something. You enter a pretty small front space to order, and they specifically don't want you to hold the door open if there are a lot of people in line to air the space out, so it felt a little covid gross, but you're at least not in there for very long. They require your phone number to let you know your order is ready, which feels a little unnecessary, but whatever. After ordering, they text when your food is ready to pickup, and then you go around to the back to grab it and stand around with everyone else waiting for their food. But it's at least outside. They did also ask a guy to not hold this door open when he had a question, so they are pretty serious about the doors staying closed. The vegan, gluten free biscuit is just ok, which is not particularly surprising. Seems like doing these as separate biscuits (a vegan but not gluten free biscuit and a gluten free but not vegan biscuit) would probably yield better biscuits for each group. So a little mushier than I would prefer. Also a pretty light bake, so not as much of a crispy, toasty crust to it as I would have liked. They were decent, but there is lots of room for improvement. And really, you probably just want to smother this with the sweet potato gravy anyway. The sweet potato was a surprising choice, and the flavor is a little different than I would usually think of for gravy (think heavy curry powder), but it worked. And they give you a lot of it. A nearly full pint cup. Compostable packaging, except for the foil the biscuit comes wrapped in (and I think they were using plastic bags for larger orders), so find a place to dispose properly. Overall a lukewarm recommend if you're really craving vegan biscuits and gravy. Don't get the biscuit alone (but why would you?). And maybe order online to avoid surly staff, unless this is the Asheville culture we're talking about. read more

She's done a number of videos and interviews with food and wine creators that are worth watching. https://travelwinechick.com/ Anyway, here we are on a Saturday morning and I was expecting it to be super busy. When I arrived at 10 AM, the line was only to the door. When I left at 10:40 AM, it was out the door and around the corner. It's worth it. I chose the Asheville Benedict and added a side of fried green tomatoes. This is one of those times that being on a keto diet was a challenge because the biscuit looked so good. I ended up eating just a little bit of it and it was delicious. Light and fluffy and buttery. But I did not add any of the jams or spreads from the jam bar, which was twice as tempting and ten times as carb-laded. So if you're not on keto, Biscuit Head is for you. My Asheville Benedict was a stacked high pile of fresh tomatoes and poached eggs and Hollandaise and a tasty salad on top of a very large split biscuit. Delicious and it did not take very long to be brought to my table at all. Perfectly yummy! The tomatoes were not as hot as being fresh from the fryer but they were delicious with just a drop of hot sauce. Definitely a great breakfast in Asheville. Yum! Recently went to Biscuithead while visiting Asheville and enjoyed every bite! We went around 1 before heading to the Biltmore and didn't eat dinner that night! After reviewing all the pictures you don't realize the size intol you get it. Definitely recommend trying while visiting Asheville. read more

Very busy, bustling joint with seat-yourself tables, no-frills food, and a tasty condiment cart. I got the fried green tomato biscuit plate - with two big fried green tomatoes, hollandaise, and tomato sauce atop two big biscuits (I opted out of getting the poached eggs). The biscuits were crumbly & delicious especially with a slather of butter, and they held up despite the heavy saucy toppings. I also got an oat milk caramel latte (loved that they had that option) which was a perfect pairing for a Saturday brunch. The food was pretty good but I felt the service was a little frustrating - our cashier kind of sneered/chuckled at us when we asked if certain options were vegetarian (valid questions, given sneaky chicken broth and lard-filled dough shows up everywhere) and the latte didn't come out for a while, but otherwise good experience! I would bring my biscuit-loving partner here for sure. read more

Sweet baby Jesus, bookmark Biscuit Head for one of the more ridiculous breakfasts of your life. They have a freakin' JAM BAR with two dozen scratch made gourmet jams. Papa likey. For the out-of-towners, Biscuit Head is an order at the counter joint. The menu consists of savory Benedict's but there are simpler breakfast options for the unadventurous people in your party. Endless drip coffee in unique mugs are at your disposal for consumption. I was back and forth between two Benny's, and the counter gal recommended the Brisket, "hands down," as she put it. Also, she was the nicest human we encountered in Asheville. Give her a raise! Ok. The Brisket Benny. I died and ascended into heaven. Dare I say, Briscuit Head??? It was rich, decadent, and contained flavors I've never encountered with breakfast food. For someone who doesn't love biscuits, the texture on Biscuit Head's were on point. Crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Add pull apart brisket, a runny yoke and copious amounts of hot sauce, and you'll understand where I'm coming from. I sampled various jams and the classic Blueberry was through the roof sweet and delicious. The most unique one to me was Amaretto Marmalade. Weird, but also great! Biscuit Head is an Asheville staple that, in my opinion, caters to the everyman. I'd be shocked if someone had a bad experience here, because the staff are as friendly as can be. Biscuit Head is an absolute must when you're visiting Asheville. I have been to another location in the past and this one didn't disappoint! Due to the pandemic, they are not open for dine-in but they do offer takeout and outdoor seating. You order in the front and get a text when your food is ready. You then head around to the back to pick up your biscuits!! Pro tip: parking is in the back so you don't need to stress about street parking. I got the Filthy Animal and my boyfriend got the Southern Scramble. The Filthy Animal was so good we came back a second time and I got it again lol. It is the perfect combination of fried chicken, bacon, pimento cheese, scrambled eggs, and gravy. The scrambled eggs were SO. FLUFFY. OMG. My boyfriend demolished his food as well. I also highly recommend the fresh squeezed orange juice. I'm normally not an orange juice person but this one is so delicious!! Get the large -- you won't regret it. The staff had amazing hygiene practices as well. Everyone was properly wearing their mask and you have to wait until the previous party exits to order and pick up your food. They also have hand sanitizing stations as soon as you come in. We will most definitely be returning on our next trip to Asheville. 10/10 recommend!! read more
We were in Asheville for the weekend and I have always wanted to try Biscuit Head. We got there around 9:30 on a Sunday morning and had a little bit of a wait. Obviously in the middle of COVID and don't k ow if that increased the wait, but it wasn't bad. I ordered the chicken biscuit with potatoes and orange juice. The orange juice was fresh and so good. The buscuit was massive and the chicken was good. I wish that I would have gotten some sauce but passed. Wish the chicken had so more flavor to it. Overall it was a good experience and would probably return when I am in the area. Now I know how to order. . read more

I've been itching to try this spot. We ordered ahead of time and picked up in restaurant but they did allow us to eat on the porch. The jalapeño hot sauce is to die for. The biscuit was solid. However, the chicken was not my speed likely due to dark meat, it being somewhat dry and lacking in flavor. Our food was prepared earlier than scheduled and was cold on arrival. The others in my group enjoyed their meals-especially the cheese grits. I'd give them another try but for something without chicken. read more
We had a wonderful time dining at biscuit head. The biscuits were buttery and flaky, and were elevated even further with their extensive selection of jellies and jams. CALLING ALL BISCUIT LOVERS, THIS PLACE IS A MUST. I cannot stress how phenomenal the food was. Was only in town for a week but came here twice for breakfast. You park in the parking lot and they validate your parking so no need to pay. I don't think there's indoor seating but enough outside seating. I got a biscuit, scrambled eggs and their VEGAN chorizo. So delicious. Their biscuits are HUGE which I was not expecting. So much food kept me full for almost the entire day. Also - get their sweet potato chai jelly, literally taste like sweet potato pie to me. Will be back read more

Biscuit was phenomenal! We both ended up ordering a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit which was good but I honestly wish I had ordered a plain biscuit with their "berry bomb" jam--the jam was insanely tasty! I also ordered a iced Nutella mocha which was not that great. I thought I received the wrong drink since I couldn't even taste the chocolate or Nutella but I brought it back up to the counter and the barista happily made it more flavorful. The location is great and the staff were all friendly! The line was long but moved fast and we didn't wait too long for the food. Would return again! read more

As Someone from the north, who doesn't even like biscuits, I LOVED THIS PLACE!!!We were here from Juneau, AK during COVID, visiting our grandchildren so ate outside (or Could get take-away. ) There is ALWAYS a line, so prepare. I ordered the biscuits with fried green tomatoes. It was DELISH. It comes with poached eggs and this amaaaaaazing sort of Hollandaise. Theres Gouda cheese melted on the whole delicious mess and THEN different jams to cover yiur left over bits of biscuits ( if you have leftover but probably not so order more biscuits) my husbands got the more traditional biscuits with pork gravy, bit folks theres nothing Traditional about this... again, I'm from the north, I'm jewish; we don't this... you need to eat this, but Don't take my word, come to Asheville and EAT THIS! read more
"Put some South in your mouth". This place is just absolutely amazing and I am both sad and thankful they do not have one in Charlotte because if they did I would be eating here everyday and probably weight 1000 lbs! The food here is just handsdown incredible and inventive and filling! My friend and I lucked out when we came that they had just finished their rush as apparently this place can get crazy packed w/a line out the door. Our cashier was so pleasant and accommodating. We let him know it was our first time and he explained everything to us that we had questions about on the menu. I wanted one of just about everything, but settled for the mimosa fried chicken. There was so much delicious happening w/this one that I had to apologize to the lady sitting next to me at the little bar for the noises that were uncontrollably escaping me. I also got their special bacon for the day that was spicy w/strawberry & kiwi drizzle. Sounded so oddly yummy I had to try it and again, instant foodgasm! To make you foodgasms go next level tantric they have jam and butter bar...seriously, I just can't with how yums everything on offer was. I left happily satiated and full of so many delectable flavors and fantastic food that I can't wait for an excuse to head back to Asheville just to come back here! read more

Given the popularity of Biscuit Head, we knew we had to try it while we were in Asheville. We came around 11:30 on a Sunday and the line was just barely out the door, which we expected. It moves pretty fast though. We got to the front in around 15-20 minutes. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant and they will validate parking for you which is nice. We got a gravy flight and the mimosa fried chicken biscuit. We went with the pork, fried chicken, and sweet potato coconut gravies for our flight. Everything was outstanding. They also have a huge jam bar with tons of different flavors. The only thing we were disappointed by was our drinks. We got an iced chai tea latte and a maple bacon latte and neither was very good. You order at the counter, find a table, and they bring your food to you. We got our food pretty fast after ordering. I think this place is worth a visit. We'll be back again next time we're in Asheville! read more
A MUST when visiting Asheville! Order ahead to skip the lines. There's some limited outdoor seating, but we got carry out. The fried green tomato biscuit is delicious! As you can see in the photos, it's a lot of food so be prepared! Also, be prepared for a food coma after. Totally worth it though :) read more

There is both covered and open outdoor seating. The open area tables have umbrellas you can raise for shade.

Yes... we had my friends dog with us while we were there. For the outside seating of course.
