Giant delicious biscuits! Pictures don't do justice to how large their biscuits are, we tried the filthy animal and the country ham. Both were very good, they also have a jam bar which is very unique. Would recommend!

Food: the food came out quick. It looks nice. The biscuit tastes fresh but it wasn't hot. For the filthy animal, the only thing that came out hot was the fried chicken and the rest was kinda warm or room temp. The same with the classic sandwich Services: I walked in and tried to stay to the side to look at the menu. One of the workers told me to stand around the bar to order. I told her I wasn't ready yet and I received a dirty look. First timer here and I don't want to stand in line without knowing what I want and hold up the line. I thought it was rude. Ambiance: cute area with indoor seating. Good amount of tables but there are signs everywhere saying order before you sit.

I like biscuits. I'm in the South. How could I pass up a place called Biscuit Head? My wife was skeptical. I was right. First thing you notice is that a lot of folks like this place. The line was out the door and we had to wait for seats. As we worked our way toward the counter we had time to figure out our choices. Order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The layout is basic, simple tables and chairs, but you're here for those biscuits. Fluffy tall biscuits covered with sausage gravy and fried or scrambled eggs are a common choice. Or some version of a biscuit sandwich. Maybe add some fried chicken. This is the good stuff. They have tons of sauces to choose from too. There's a lot of variety making this a good breakfast or brunch spot.

(4.25 stars) Biscuit Head has acquired a lofty reputation since it opened its doors more than a decade ago, and it was only a matter of time before we ended up here to see if it lived up to the hype. One drawback to said reputation: it gets busy, and it gets loud. Best try to catch them during an off-peak hour and hope that you can snag an open table. That caveat aside, the menu is great. You can keep it simple with a biscuit and your choice of topping, roll the dice with a biscuit sandwich, or step up and take on a gut-busting breakfast platter. There are also sweet dishes and a bar full of complimentary jams. My wife and I went with the biscuit of the day (Korean fried chicken), a biscuit with mushroom gravy, fried green tomatoes, and a side of bacon. The biscuits were good, but if you get them in a sandwich, don't expect the sandwich to hold together. No matter: forks exist for a reason. The Korean fried chicken included both Korean BBQ sauce and pimento cheese, an interesting fusion of Asian and Southern that somehow worked. The accompanying tots were crispy and addictive, and the mushroom gravy was creamy and rich. The fried green tomatoes were respectable but would have been better topped with pimento. Ultimately, Biscuit Head did not disappoint. The biscuits weren't the best I've ever had, but the food here was still satisfying.

Best place to eat breakfast in Asheville if you like biscuits, jams, and hearty breakfast meals. This is our favorite place. We only eat breakfast here every year for our annual trip to Asheville. Everything on the menu is delicious. The coffee bar is extensive and they always have special drinks. Try the bacon of the day! Take full advantage of the jam bar. The service is always friendly and is much faster than the lines make it look. 100/10 recommend

Hands down, these are some of the best biscuits I've ever had! They're large, fluffy, and incredibly soft on the inside. Biscuit Head is a must visit if you're in the area and craving a fun, lively breakfast spot. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and helpful. What truly impressed me was their wide variety of house made jams! They have jam stations where customers can mix and match, trying different flavors on their biscuits. I highly recommend the raspberry, peach rosemary, and mango chili jams; but they're all fantastic! I loved them so much that I bought a few bottles to take home. The restaurant itself is spacious, with seating options for large groups or just a party of two. There's also a charming outdoor patio with picnic-style tables, perfect for a cool spring morning.

I can't stop thinking about this glorious place! They have a fantastic menu, ranging from familiar favorites to inventive creations. Loved the spacious indoor seating; lots of long tables for larger parties. But the best part by far is the homemade jam bar!

Food was cold. Who wants a cold hard biscuit? Service was good. Staff is friendly. Seats are limited. You have to order first before you can get a table. Some tables are set up communal so be prepared to share a table with others. Not a fan of how people are hovering over tables while people are eating.

Came in for a quick breakfast before driving out of Asheville and thought biscuits would be a great filling start to our day. I enjoyed the interior and exterior with it being cat-themed. Your order number comes with a picture of a real cat which I found to be a cute touch. They also have a generous jam/hot sauce bar which was really fun to try and adds a unique twist to your experience. My partner got the Half Breakfast with a side of bacon. She really enjoyed the jam bar since she was able to customize each bite to her liking. I tried the biscuit by itself and I have to say that I wasn't that impressed. It was just fine at best and so for a "biscuit-specific" restaurant, this fell flat. It didn't seem like it was made right then and there between the luke warm temperature and the brittle texture. I got the Asheville Benedict which was interesting. I wanted a slightly 'healthier' biscuit option and so this one was more vegetable forward which I definitely appreciated. However the end result with a warm biscuit and very cold veggies made for a temperature clash that was not very pleasant. I think there's a world where this specific dish could work (maybe separate some of the elements) but as constructed, it's kind of all over the place. I'm confident that had I gotten a different item I'd give it higher marks, but this specific dish plus the biscuit being average really let this meal down for me.

Service and ambiance worked out as the line was not very long. I got GF biscuits smothered in sweet potato coconut gravy, the only GF and vegan gravy available. The gravy came out very warm, and the flavor was complex, but it was almost kind of sweet. Regardless, pretty grateful that there was a suitable biscuits and gravy option.

I appreciate that this place offers a vegan/gluten-free option. Sadly, they weren't great. The gravy had pieces of sweet potato and was more of a soup? Not bad necessarily, just not a gravy at all and didn't satisfy the craving. The biscuit was just ok. One cool thing is the jam bar! Tried a few jams that were tasty. Went on a weekday morning and it was pretty empty and service was fast.

Delicious!! I ordered the mimosa fried chicken. It was good. The maple butter was my favorite. Their homemade hot cocoa was sooo delicious. Yum!! My husband ordered the pulled pork biscuit and I preferred it over mine. Highly recommend that one!! read more

The biscuits were huge and delicious. We had a brisket and a fried chicken. Both were excellent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The strawberry-rhubarb crumble, however, was a huge letdown. We were expecting one of the delicious biscuits on top of a strawberry-rhubarb filling. What we got was a syrupy mess with a few biscuit chunks and a dollop off ice cream. Go and eat ALL of the biscuits, but skip the crumble. read more

Before entering, there was a chalkboard outside with specials. After reading bacon, jalepeno & cheddar gravy, my choice was made. When walking in for the first time, we were instructed to place our order at the register. The second order was recommended by a local the night before - the brisket biscuit. After getting our table number (backed with a humorous cat picture) we filled our mugs and sat. Solid coffee won me over early. After a short wait, our food was delivered. Both breakfasts were amazing . Generous portions filled the pans and the brisket was tender enough to cut with a fork. An awesome first experience and glad this was recommended and hit before heading out of town (not within walking distance of downtown). Would go back in a heartbeat! read more

Awesome place. I got the mimosa fried chicken biscuit and it was delicious. I like the atmosphere as well. There was a line when I walked in, but I the wait wasn't long at all. The girl who rang up my order was very nice. Also didn't take long at all for them to bring out my food. The music that's playing is really good as well. Overall, great food, nice people, great atmosphere! read more

Really really good food! Special of the day was siracha gravy biscuits and pineapple habanero bacon. Both were extremely tasty! There was a line out the door around 9 when we showed up but it moved fast! And seating opened up easy enough! The atmosphere is super accommodating and unique! I accidentally ordered and paid for my take-out at the Biltmore location not knowing there were multiple near by. We got to the Haywood location and, even with the mistake being my fault, they seamlessly whipped up my order and they were so kind about it. On top of that, the food was RIDICULOUSLY delicious. Hopefully this place gets some better help- front and back of the house. Staff was rude and lazy, seemed offended at having to do their job? Food was cold, had no flavor besides burnt. All of which I could overlook had they just known how to make a proper cat head biscuit. Instead I got overpriced bisquick and smuckers. read more

Came here for brunch and waited for 45 minutes in a longgggg line. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I will say the biscuits are good, and I like the condiment bar with the homemade jams and spreads. I had the country ham biscuit with the red eye gravy. The ham was very salty. Yes, I know, ham is supposed to be salty, but this was like almost inedible salty, like burn your tongue salty. I couldn't eat a piece by itself without taking a swig of water. My fiancé had a biscuit with fried chicken and a side of fried chicken gravy. While eating her biscuit she bit down on a piece of plastic...in her biscuit! She went up to the counter and told one of the employees. Someone came over to our table and saw the plastic. She hurriedly explained that it was from the containers that hold their dry ingredients. She did apologize, but only offered us a $3 coupon for our next visit. That's not going to do us much good since we don't live in the area. It just seemed like with all the business they are doing, they could've comped her meal. Overall the food was good, besides the plastic, but it was pricey for what we got. We spent about $30 with tip on 2 biscuit sandwiches and one side of grits. read more

This place is as good as it gets. Chicken is always juicy and crispy. Biscuits are light and fluffy. Jam bar with the sweet potato chai is hands down the best. Don't even get me started with the biscuit donuts and the lemon curd. Pretty much a right of passage here. We are from St Pete and spend about a month a year in Asheville. We eat here more than any other restaurant. The owners are great people who really know how to cook and love their community. A must stop!! read more

Why isn't there a mouth-drool emoji? I love it when a place specializes in a particular and just excels at it. That's what Biscuit Head has done...with biscuits obviously. Being from the South, I'm very particular about my biscuits and many places come up short, Biscuit Head nailed it for me, moist and golden brown. I had the mimosa fried chicken biscuit which was a perfect balance of spicy, sweet and tangy. The chicken was tender and crispy, and topping it off with a poached egg just sent it over the top. Great stop on our way out of town. Kids loved the play area in the back. Good coffee, and biscuits were excellent. We all loved the jelly and jam bar and cool relaxed vibe. The fruit plate was a nice counter balance to be biscuits. Wish there was one in our neighborhood! read more

I'm not sure what all the rave reviews are about... I wasn't impressed despite all the hype. Customer service was ok at best - could have been friendlier, but this whole town is like that - "too cool to talk to you" vibe...TrAsheville is a lot of hype anyway. The Benedict dish I ordered & biscuit were refrigerator cold. I'd rather have gone to Hardee's for their biscuits & I never go to Hardee's...I think it was overpriced & overrated, typical for A$$ville restaurants...A$$ville is simply overrated... I won't return to this restaurant...My advice is to venture out of this town & don't believe the hype... you can't see the mountains/forest for the mountains/trees. read more

I try to sneak off to this place every time I visit my late rising son who lives nearby. It has some of the best breakfasts I have ever eaten, and I have eaten at a lot of good breakfast places. The coffee is superb. I do not yet have a favorite meal here. I have tried something different each time and always been pleased. read more

Warning: you WILL wait in line if you just show up for brunch on a weekend. Order it to go if you don't want to wait. I always get the mimosa fried chicken, and it never disappoints! The biscuit is fluffy, buttery, and not too heavy. I usually eat the mimosa fried chicken with the top biscuit off because it is just too awesomely thick. I eat the top biscuit separately with one of their delicious homemade jams/butters The slaw and sauce is delicious. I break my poached egg over everything and the yolk just deliciously coats every bite. You can taste the quality in the eggs used! Friend I went with got something with lamb gravy once and it was really good. Grits and moon fries are a must try! Been coming here for years and love it every single time read more

Our biscuits and gravy flight were delicious!! We got the fried chicken, jalapeño sweet potato, and sweet potato coconut gravy's in our flight! The sweet potato coconut was my personal favorite!! While waiting outside in the long line, a server came out and brought us a cup of their freshly squeezed lemonade, which was amazing!! It was a great experience and we will be back! read more

First off, let me start with I love this place!!! Every time I visit Asheville, I make an effort to stop by biscuit head for breakfast or brunch. Sometimes there can be a bit of line - it's a popular place! But I promise: waiting is worth it! I've never spent a ridiculous amount of time waiting, even with the line around the corner at times. The parking can be limited at busy times, but make sure you get a free parking slip from the front counter near the cashier! I always order the gravy flight - the biscuits are huge and they always have yummy gravy options. I've also ordered their specialty bacon before as well as eggs. I've never had terrible service and the staff are actually very helpful if you have questions or want to try something new! Make sure you check out their awesome jellies and butter bar by the soda fountain. read more

Worth the wait in line. The biscuit was large and moist. The butter and jam bar was a welcome surprise. I got the regular breakfast with country ham smoke fromage grits. Both were excellent. My wife critiqued the catfish as not salty or crispy enough but she is not easily satisfied. I would come back again to try the rest of the menu. read more

Omg LOVED this place. 100000% worth the wait. Would wait in the line all over again to have more of their biscuits! Once you order your food it really only takes five minutes to get your food, so fast! I had a Bloody Mary and loved it, my friend had a chocolate milk and also loved it. Our table or a variety of food and biscuits and it was all amazing, don't think you can go wrong with anything from their menu. read more

Fun atmosphere, great selection of creative biscuit dishes, lots of homemade jams available, and the line didn't take long to get through. We really enjoyed our choices and will definitely come back again. I would only caution that you do not order their Bloody Mary, it was rather lackluster, but instead choose fresh juice or a mimosa which seemed very popular and looked delicious. read more

Loved this place! As someone with a sweet tooth, my favorite part was the jam and butter bar-- the lemon poppyseed butter was a revelation and I could not stop eating it. Biscuits are enormous and delicious; scrambled eggs cooked perfectly; coffee also excellent. I don't eat meat but my fiancé enjoyed the red eye gravy he ordered, and even got a caffeine buzz from it. read more

We were new in town and thought we'd try it out this morning. Upon arriving, the line was out the door, but we had heard it was worth the wait. Waiting through the line, there were cute little chalk saying and directions on the sidewalk - also saying "worth the wait". Once we finally got to ordering (10-15min) and got our food, it was definitely worth the wait for our first try! They even have a jelly bar for your toast/biscuits, etc. -- Also, there's very little free parking, so be prepared to pay for street parking/Passport Parking app. read more

I honestly couldn't stop eating it was so good. I've never been and was just visiting Asheville and saw the reviews and thought, why not try it - It's not the type of food I'd ever order, but it was SO damn good, I could eat it everyday. I got like 3 types of gravy, the fried green tomatoes, and the biscuit with pulled pork (with sweet heat hot sauce) and there was so much flavor to everything I couldn't put down my fork. I'm sad this place isn't closer to home. Definitely recommend over any other breakfast place. read more

This was an excellent choice for breakfast. The mocha was absolutely delicious. The best mocha I have ever had. Biscuits were amazing and they had a variety of topping choices. I would recommend to anyone visiting Asheville! I had the classic which was egg biscuit and choice of side. I chose the country ham. I thought it would be a small amount; able to eat and of course I could only eat about 1/2. Very good! read more

This place is the worst!! The popularity of this place is baffling. This is the worst breakfast experience at a premium price. More expensive than every other sit-down breakfast place in asheville, and an outright stressful way to start your day. Stand in line for 30 minutes, hope there's a table when you order, work your way back around the line to find the coffee station, water, napkins and silverware, sit at a table with a line of waiting patrons hovering over you, then enjoy a trough of salty doughy breakfast ingredients. Fortunately, this place is only open for a few minutes a couple days a week. read more

The house mix had an odd flavor that nobody at the table could quite identify, and it seriously lacked spice. It was just kinda bland. I noticed a bottle of Firewalker hot sauce on the table, and splashing that in helped a little bit. After that, I transitioned to a mimosa. You really cannot mess up a mimosa too much, and it was a solid, reliable second drink. For the main event, I ordered the southern chicken and waffles. This came with a fried chicken breast sitting on golden malted waffles, smothered in sausage gravy, and drizzled with chipotle honey. It was a really great dish. The kitchen did a solid job with the fry on the chicken, and the gravy had a nice flavor. It leaned a little on the sweet side because of the honey, but it was not totally overdone. Our millennial daughters brought us to Biscuit Head on a recent trip to Asheville, NC, and I am so glad they did! Delicious, well-prepared, fresh, inventive breakfast choices that inevitably include a perfectly baked home-made biscuit make Biscuit Head an absolute MUST for your Asheville culinary experience. A highlight is their self-serve jam/preserves/honey cart with over a dozen tasty delights freshly prepared at the restaurant daily. My favorite was amaretto marmalade -- yeah, definitely worth a somewhat early rise; we got there just before nine and the self-order line was out the door within fifteen minutes. Did I mention the prices? Super reasonable for a lot of great food and condiment choices that will start your day in a creative city with a unique gastronomic experience. The staff is efficient, helpful and friendly, surrounded by an artsy, warm and winning environment in which you'll find families, as well as individuals of all ages. I signed up for Yelp just to leave this review, since it was the reviews that others have left that made me visit. I'm SO GLAD we braved the line. It looks long, but it moves fast. Let me start by saying that the staff is incredible. Everyone we encountered on a busy weekend day was upbeat and friendly, even though they were completely slammed. They even seemed to be having fun! Now, let's get to the food. THE FOOD. I had the brisket biscuit and it was ten stars out of five. Perfect in every way. My wife had the Asheville Benedict (recommended by the cashier) and it was a work of art on the plate. We visited the jam bar and IT IS HEAVEN. I can't say enough about the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. I will visit any time I am in the area. Do yourself a favor and GO. Don't be afraid of the line. Truly amazing and a must go if you're in Asheville. There's always a line. We waited about an hour, but don't let that deter you. The food is exceptional! It's a small restaurant, but by the line moving slow there's ample seating inside once you place your order. The biscuits alone are great, but they have a large selection of biscuit sandwiches that makes it hard to choose only one! We ordered their pulled pork biscuit and the fried green tomato biscuit. The pulled pork was good, but the fried green tomato biscuit was amazing! We were talking about it for days - that's how good it was. We also ordered a plain biscuit on the side so we could try their jam and butter bar which was fun to try so many unique flavors. Under her recommendation, I had the Asheville Benedict and it was the best breakfast I've ever had. TOTALLY worth the wait. My whole family loved everything (Mimosa Chicken was divine), but we felt guilty that we couldn't finish the whole meal. Ton of food on those plates. 5 stars to the energetic wait staff, and kudos to the kitchen. Biscuit Head is now going to be a regular stop when we're in Asheville. Don't be afraid of the line! It moves quicker than you think it will, and the energy of the place makes it fun while you're waiting. read more

We ordered carryout since my inlaws didn't want to do the wait. The biscuits were themselves were good. Large portion sizes. But we were not aware that the gravies would be spicy. When it says sausage gravy, you have an expectation of what it is. My fried green tomato biscuit was also spicy. No where does it say that everything would be spicy. I could not eat my full meal because of how spicy it was The gravy was not very good at all. My husband had their famous Filthy Animal and it was only OK. The food is great, but it's way too overcrowded to enjoy much of the time. If you go early (especially on weekdays), you miss the place being overrun by hipsters and it's just so pleasant. The biscuits and gravy are fantastic. What's probably the coolest thing here, though, is the jam and butter bar (I find even regulars sometimes don't use it or notice it as it's in the back of the dining area). Tip: if there is no seating in the dining room, check through the back door on a decent day. There is a patio with seating. read more

Biscuits served as a sandwich, with gravy or use their jam bar! Can't go wrong with the chicken gravy or chorizo sausage. And the jam bar must have over a dozen flavors including bananas foster. The fresh squeezed oj is awesome but a small is well, small. This place stays busy. There was a line out the door, but it moves pretty well. And service doesn't lack. Cashier was friendly, offered us a gravy sample and explained some food choices. Usually extra stuff like that goes out the window when there's a crowd! read more

In Asheville for the weekend, and made an yelp account just to give a shout out to the places I loved, this was one of them! great food, southern at its best. I highly recommend going early in the day, we got there around 8:15am and there was a small line, by 9 it was out the door! read more

Just go down Haywood Road in West Asheville, and look for the place with a line down the sidewalk. The biscuits are huge, and come with all kinds of unusual sides and gravies. My favorite is a butter and jam filled biscuit. Simple goodness. read more
