This is a great place to hang out and have a drink or two. We sat at the bar, and along with our drinks, we ordered two pasta dishes. Uni spaghetti was lighter than what I am used to. If you don't like rich pasta, you might prefer this, but since I like the heaviness and richness of uni pasta, I thought it was a bit of a miss. It was almost like they cooked it with pasta water/broth rather than butter and cream. Mentaiko pasta was better, and hubby enjoyed it quite a bit. Decor: Casual, dark. I like the set up, it's relatively small and a bit industrial feeling, but still cozy and fun. Price: I thought it was ok, Hibiki 17y was $28, which seemed about right. The amount of food is on the lighter side, but I didn't think pasta dishes were too expensive. I can see how it could quickly get pricey if you order a few items, as we would if we wanted a full meal. Service: Attentive and fast. We liked sitting at the bar. We would definitely come back and try other dishes. I can see the appeal of this place, casual drinking place that is good for couples, girls night out, or just with friends. If you like to wait over 50min for pasta this is the place for you! We waited 20min before the hostess told us it is going to take another 20-30min before we would get our food but said if we ordered appetizers that would come out right away. Unless the pasta was made from scratch (which I doubt because i couldn't tell) it should not take this long. I'm guessing all the appatizers everyone is recommended to order is pushing out all the main courses being cook by what is possibly one chef? Came here right before their last call at 10PM on a Thursday night and we managed to get our orders in, phew! They start closing up at 10:30PM. We ordered 2 pastas: spaghetti napolitan and spaghetti with crab in cream sauce. Both were delicious and they were in generous portions. We ended up taking the leftovers of both to go but that just means we'll have delicious leftover pasta for tomorrow's breakfast! The staff are very kind, the restaurant had adequate social distancing/COVID procedures for their outdoor dining and there are hand sanitizers for every table. Bonus: very warm heat lamps, you'll definitely be comfy and cozy while dining out at night! I highly recommend this restaurant for delicious Japanese and French fusion food. I found this place while looking for late night pasta in the middle of binge watching Master of None... We didn't end up going that night, but the following week, we fulfilled our pasta craving here. The interior looks very hip, and there's a full bar. I have definitely taken note of it for the next time I want to have a dinner with friends. We went during dinnertime on a weekday, and many of the tables were reserved. Around 6:30pm, groups of Japanese people came by after work to have a drink and some food. We ordered the yuzu karaage (Japanese fried chicken), which was one of their daily specials. The karaage itself was nothing special-- I've had some with much better batter-- but the yuzu sauce on it was delicious. It reminded me of the yuzu sauce I use at yakitori places. In terms of the entrees, I ordered the squid ink spaghetti. (Warning: Do not order squid ink pasta when you're on a first date. You'll thank me later.) It was really delicious and flavorful! I tasted the browned garlic, and I think they used some sort of red pepper oil, because there was some residue on the plate. There's a ton of squid in the dish, some hidden because the legs blend in with the noodles lol. My husband ordered the crab butter linguini. It was pretty creamy, which is much more of his preference, and buttery. You can really taste the crab infused into the sauce. And there's a ton of crab chunks in the pasta too. He really enjoyed it. We decided to order dessert, mainly because my husband didn't want to make an extra stop before going home. We ordered the green tea panna cotta. The panna cotta itself was pretty firm, and had a pretty good texture. The whipped cream on top was super light and airy, and not too sweet, which is what I LOVE about Asian whipped cream in general. My husband found the panna cotta to have a bitter aftertaste, but I enjoyed it, probably because I am a much bigger fan of green tea. I think the only complaints I have are: 1. I wish they served bread, mainly because I wanted a vessel to sop up the pasta sauces. 2. I wish they had black pepper available, because I wanted to use some of the crab butter pasta. read more

Came here to grab some food a little past regular dinner time since I had some engagements earlier. The place was relatively small but atmosphere was lively. From what I saw, most of the clientele belonged to the Japanese after work crowd, with a few dates and/or friends catching up thrown into the mix. The menu was mainly Jiptalian oriented. Since I wasn't too hungry, a full plate of pasta wasn't really an option despite the recommendations on other reviews. So I order the free range chicken with mixed greens instead, and also got a Macallan to sip on. The bartender service was prompt without being too stuffy. For $13, the pour was average. Just a side note, but the bar seemed super loaded and very busy looking. The kitchen turn time was pretty decent and the food didn't take too long to come out, considering that the place was still fairly busy. The fried free range chicken was pretty tender, but it would be a sin to mess up on fried chicken. Breading was thicker than I expected, but the yuzu sauce kept it from getting too heavy. OH my gosh, it was so good. The meat was so tender, and the sauce was the perfect taste. They had some daikon puree on the side, and a little salad, I just couldn't stop eating it! This dish was probably my favorite of the night. Beef Carpaccio Salad. Decent. Interesting. An okay choice. Prosciutto pizza. This one was good too! It doesn't look like a pizza at all. It just looks like..prosciutto on a plate, but once you bite into it, it's very tasty, and cheesy! Chicken karaage. You can never go wrong with it. Big pieces of chicken, and I loved em! I ordered the chicken gratin, and it was pretty delicious. It was pretty much like baked macaroni. Make sure you eat it quickly though. The cheese gets hard very easily, and when it gets warm..it's not the tastiest thing to eat. Salmon Risotto. Pretty darn good! I came to take my mom on her 97th birthday and : #1 the service was horrible, I couldn't even get water when I asked for it. #2: we both ordered the filet for dinner and honestly this was NOT a filet cut. It was tough and had no flavor. I complained and it took 15 minutes for them to contact the owner to see what to do with us. They came back and told me I didn't have to pay for the steaks. They have amazing drink list including sissy liquors I do enjoy (you don't see that awesomeness anywhere else outside Japan). Scotch and whiskey lists are quite impressive - you see tons of good Japanese whiskey (known for the high quality and $$$ due to the high demand), too. One of the bartenders are so awesome and know booze. I only order from him :) When he's off, I don't even drink :p Hands down the best bar in CA. My cocktails: I always try something different and my bartender makes special ones for me every time. I had a great first experience dining here. I like the chain link fence and metal roof material as part of the decor, odd but whatever. Let's talk about the food and service! Thankfully our dishes were not too salty or oily like some of the other reviewers. I definitely recommend starting with these dishes; Prosciutto with mozzarella (delicious vinaigrette dressed the combo), cheese risotto (I dare say better than Musha's cheese risotto), squid ink pasta, bacon carbonara past and a bottle Sofia. Honestly, I didn't really expect much coming here. Bistro Beaux is essentially a Japanese Italian pasta house with some izakaya dishes sprinkled in. I judge all Japanese Italian against Spoon House in Gardena since that is my gold standard but we were pleasantly surprised by everything we ate that night! We went on a Saturday night and all the tables besides one near the entrance were full. I didn't expect that since it is tucked in a corner in a fairly big strip mall with plenty of restaurants. The decor of the restaurant is sorta... industrial but with class? It's a little bit odd. After looking through the menu, the three of us decided to each get a pasta and share a few small dishes. We started off with the fried calamari and the spicy bean sprouts. The fried calamari was good but nothing too special about it. The spicy bean sprouts, was surprisingly good! They stir fry it with pork in this spicy soy sauce, and it is quite addicting haha. I went for the Squid Ink Pasta and wow, it is one of the better squid ink pasta I've had anywhere. The last time I had squid ink pasta was at Capricciosa and Bistro Beaux's totally topped it. It tastes savory, but clean at the same time. The flavor is not overpowering and you can still taste things besides the squid ink. I like how it is just tomato-based sauce with squid ink rather than the squid ink cream sauce a lot of Italian restaurants in the States serve. Tried a bit of the Carbonara and it is very tasty! True to Japanese Italian fashion, the cream sauce is light, but wow they throw in a bunch of pork. When the pasta arrived, it was covered with bacon! :P I can just see the chef going "fawk it, I'm too lazy to cut up into tiny pieces so I'm just gonna throw chunks it," and not that I'm gonna complain :P Definitely the pasta to get here for bacon lovers. The last pasta I tried was the Seafood Spaghetti with tomato sauce. Solid tomato sauce with plenty of seafood. I'm a huge sauce guy and here each spaghetti is coated with tomato sauce so every bite you get the tasty tomato sauce. Portion wise, fairly typical. Didn't look like much at first but we were definitely full. Really, the only con is the higher price point for the food. They have a fairly big wine selection for a small restaurant like this, and there is a full service bar so you can actually head straight to the bar for drinks if you'd like. We just went for a pitcher of beer. While it is nice they serve it in the pitcher with the thing in the middle to keep your beer cold, you don't get as much beer :[ Bistro Beaux made a good impression on our first visit is one of those hidden gem in a strip mall that's full of good Japanese restaurants! read more

Delicious pasta and tons of yummy appetizer at this Italian-Japanese joint that serves full Liquior til late in the Torrance area....that's packed with mostly Japanese foodie crowd....:) I love the "uni/shiso pasta" that's served in lite and not the usual creamy sauce but more of a "brothy" soup sauce...super delicious ! And MUST try the "squid ink pasta" bcuz it's super rich and tasty and messy delicious! Also for appetizer - "uni scrabbled egg" and "olive and anchovy dip" served warm with bread...all yummy! The lady who answers the phone is rude and incompetent. They are simply just lazy or don't want to do their job?? They will make an excuse for not having enough staff so they can't take to go orders. OKAY FINE. I UNDERSTAND. But when I try to make a reservation, they also made a same lame excuse and asked me a lot of questions like what I will be ordering which is not necessary to ask at that point and said they might not provide some items that is listed on the menu. A Japanese bar with really good food and desserts. Its been a while since I've been to Beaux's and I just came back. We ordered the catarana and a bread dish with melt cheese on top. I forgot the name but they were both really good dishes. I usually just come here for the dessert catarana since I don't drink anymore. They do offer a good selection of drinks. The atmosphere is nice and intimate, it never gets to loud and it's good for groups to hangout. It's a good place to stop by after dinner or even for a happy hour... I was hoping the food here would have been a little better given the catchy yet slightly pretentious French name, "Bistro Beaux." But I should have known from looking at the huge array of liquor they had laid out on their yelp page. It really is mainly just a drinking spot where the base clientele are local and visiting Japanese. If you are looking for a place to drink and hang out and chat with your buddies, this place is easily 3.5 to 4 stars. If you are here for food, 2.5 to 3 stars at best. The food aims to be a step above the usual bar food and actually is but I wouldn't choose this place over a real Japanese/American/Italian/etc restaurant. Maybe I'm a little spoiled because I have eaten at so many good places after all these years, but I will be fair, the food is pretty decent to the point you will leave satisfied. The layout of an establishment doesn't usually catch my eye but the way this bar/restaurant was set-up really bothered me. The tables look like they were transplanted from a work cafeteria and the whole place just looks a little off and confusing from an interior design standpoint. I have nothing wrong with minimalism, but this restaurant/bar was minimal in all the wrong ways. Other than that the place is clean and the workers do their best to be nice and accommodating to your requests. I wouldn't come back again but was definitely worth visiting at least once. read more

Went here with a friend last night. Place was clean and neat, with a full bar! It reminded of a more quiet AYCE Korean BBQ place, but without the smoke ventilators over each table. We were greeted right away. Thursday night at 7p was quiet so we were also seated right away. I first found the menu a bit peculiar because I've never seen a combo of Italian and Japanese before, but my friend said food was good. To the food! - spaghetti squid ink: very good! the pasta was cooked al dente. The sauce wasn't weird at all and you get bits of squid in the dish too, and a very light dash of parsley (I think) - proscuitto wrapped asparagus: good. The asparagus was perfect! The proscuitto was decent, maybe it wasn't thin or cured enough, idk. but the whole thing was good. You MUST scrape the garlic/olive/balsamic dressing on the plate and eat with it. Involves a bit of work, but taste better. - fried something with shiso: turned out it was fish cakes! with mayb mozarella cheese filling. It was ok, bit too filling for my buds but I did like the shiso lots! - seaweed scrambled egg: I would make this at home and eat with brown rice on a lazy day. - finally sherbert! I still think it should be called sorbet, main point is, it was good. The texture was like shaved ice flavored with yakurt. This place wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing. There wasn't anything I had that left me feeling "omg I need to come back!" I came for a birthday dinner and I wanted to take my parents out for something different...not your typical chain restaurants like BJs, sushi they have all the time...so something elegant but not over the top pricey. We had the scallop lettuce spaghetti, spinach salad, calamari, and steak with the garlic soy sauce. The spinach salad had way too much dressing and it was super sour. The calamari was as good but nothing special. The steak was good as the meat was cooked perfectly and wasn't tough to eat....they only gave about 5 slices of meat though. The spaghetti was lightly dressed but a tad flavorless . All in all I don't feel like it was worth the price or the hype but in retrospect, I haven't had many japanese Italian fusion restaurants that really moved me. Although most reviews bring mention of BB as a drinking establishment, the food that BB concocts makes them rather legit. The first thing we noticed when we sat down was the super unique decor. With metal sheeted wall and metal fence - BB replicated a street-vibe. We shared: Yellowtail carpaccio - layered with diced onions, carrots and tomatoes and drizzled over nori olive oil - the yellowtail was fresh but a bit on the salty side Lemon Buttered Cod - the flavors was really good on the cod. it was the right amount of zesty to the butter. Spaghetti with buttered crab - creamy with chucks of crab - it was a very safe dish but we felt like it needed some Tabasco to cut the heaviness of the cream. I would recommend all the dishes above. None of them were disappointing but nor were they mouth dropping. Me and my wife were looking for a dessert place after dinner. Walked into a Japanese bar that was full of people! All the tables were taken. Sat at the bar with my wife and ordered tiramisu and frozen creme brule. Frozen creme brule? Eventually the bar was full of people everywhere. Japanese-French fusion with an Italian twist!? How can you go wrong with that combo?!? This place has some AMAZING food and it is so so under-rated, IMO. The crab butter pasta was so good that we spooned the sauce directly in our mouths after the noodles were gone (in under 2 minutes, I should add) and we could have easily had another order each for ourselves. The Mediterranean salad was exceptional with perfectly cooked seafood & the most delightful basil-infused dressing to bring it together and the rib eye with garlic was PERFECTION. The gratin potatoes were second to none and the cheesy bread dish was sinfully delicious. I love their karate bc it was flavorful, moist and just the right amount of breading. I'm going back again and again. This place rocks! I hope they never go away because that would be depressing. read more
